Believe it or not, it’s ANOTHER Thursday + Friday football weekend!
When Erika and I saw both Lovejoy and Boyd’s football schedules and realized they weirdly and wildly had so many weeks when they didn’t play at the same time, you better believe we were giving thanks to the Lord. They absolutely could have had schedules that lined up single every week…so the fact that we’ve had the first FOUR WEEKS of the season on alternating nights is nothing short of a Texas high school football miracle 😉 .
Needless to say, Happy Thursday Night Lights, friends!

You know the drill, I have a few random categories and am sharing random tidbits about each one
Here are 10 RANDOM {SEPTEMBER} THINGS …
10 Random Things My Kids Steal From Me
#1: MY PHONE CHARGER
I don’t understand what black hole my kids’ phone/MacBook/airpod chargers fall into, but it’s this dark vortex that clearly sucks them up daily because FOR THE LOVE they never know where theirs are and always take mine. And when I ask them “did you take my charger”, they always give me this blank look like “what is she asking me?”.
#2: MY STANLEYS
It doesn’t matter how many Stanleys or cute water bottles I buy my girls, they always walk out the door with mine. Did I take a Stanley-type cup to yoga today that has Frenchie’s face all over it because I couldn’t find mine? Yes. Yes, I did.
#3: MY LANEIGE
My girls love Laneige lip moisturizer as much as I do. You don’t know how many times I get cozy into bed at night with my Kindle and lean over to grab my lip balm only to find it’s missing.
#4: MY FLIP FLOPS
Last summer, Kensington discovered my Tkees on Nantucket and wore them every single day. This summer, I bought a second pair to take to Nantucket…and they became Ashby’s favorite shoe. In August, I saw them in the garage here in McKinney and asked Ashby what they were doing here (they live on Nantucket), she said, “they’re my favorite, so I brought them back”. I guess this next summer, I’m going to need to buy myself a third pair so that Mades can take those from me too.
#5: MY COZY BLANKETS
We love a cozy blanket around here. It doesn’t matter how many I buy, all my kiddos seem to gravitate towards the one I’m currently loving and/or bought for my office chair. One minute, it’s in my office…the next, it’s on their bed.
#6: MY PENS
I could buy my kids a thousand Flair pens, but for some reason, they always want the ones on my desk.
#7: HAIR TIES
It’s a wonder I ever have my hair in a ponytail. Any time I open the drawer with all of my hair stuff, there is nary a rubber band.
#8: MY PROTEIN BARS
Me: Buys a box of protein bars on a Tuesday afternoon that I am excited to try that week.
Also me: Goes to get a protein bar on Wednesday morning only to find the empty box.
#9: MY SWEATSHIRTS
Who knew I had the best collection of cozy sweatshirts? My girls knew. That’s why they’re currently wearing one to school right now.
#10: MY SHAMPOO
Is there anything more defeating than standing in the shower with wet hair when you reach over to get some shampoo only to realize the bottle is missing?

For the life of me, I cannot find mine to take a picture and share with you…AND IT’S MY FAVORITE! I have done this study three times over the last 20 years. I love it so much that I have placed my copy somewhere so special that I cannot find it. Sigh. It’s so good, y’all!
#6: DAVID by Beth Moore
This study here was the very first actual Bible study I did. This one changed my life. I have also completed it three times over the last 22 years. I did this study with a group of wives whose husbands also played for the Detroit Lions. We met every week during football season to work through this study, and it absolutely changed me, grew me, stretched me, and more than anything, gave me such a deep desire to study God’s word each day.

I was going to comment on things my kids steal from me (my nail clippers, hair elastics, my laundry baskets, my favourite water cup — yes, they have their own of all of these!!!), but now I’m just wondering how 12-year-old me had a favourite soap opera?!?!?! Because you are so right about that!

As a former Stanley tumbler girl, I’ve recently switched to Brumate cups and you must try! Mine has a covered, flip down straw, and the straw in the cup is stainless steel. Far superior to Stanley tumblers in my opinion! 😉

Love this list! As an early 89s baby myself, I also loved to watch Growing Pains or anything on TGIF (had to love some Friday night tv) and Days of our lives. Our kids don’t know what they are missing 🤪. Thanks for the walk down memory lane this morning.

The VERY best bible study that I have done (and I have done a LOT over the last 13 years!) is Jesus and Women by Kristi Mclelland. If you haven’t tried that one (or one of her studies) I highly recommend it. Hands down my very favorite.

My first thought too – and wouldn’t it be a blessing if that’s were it was.
My daughter wore my size shoes for about a week in the 5th grade. My granddaughter is in the 4th and not quite there yet, but she had friends over this past weekend and I had decided it was time to get rid of some of the way to many flip flops I owe and two of her friends fit my size so that was helpful.
I am constantly returning hair clips and varies types of hair ties that my granddaughter has left at my house that I know she hijacked from her mom.

So FUN! I was thinking the other day a fun post would be things you say or do in the “South” that might be different from the “Midwest.” I grew up in South Dakota and now live in Minnesota. We call everything a hotdish vs. a casserole, a pop is a pop not a soda, when we mess up we like to say “ope!” I always love to hear about different customs people like to use or differences in what you call things. So random but could be fun! Have a great Thursday!

Okay, that post would be interesting and fun because dare I say…we don’t refer to ourselves as Southerners down here. We are “Texans” and people from the “south” are from Alabama, Georgia, etc. I bet we could get several different responses from different geographic areas! For instance, Andrew (who grew up in the Midwest) used to say “pop” where now (because he’s been heavily influenced) says “coke”. We would get some eclectic feedback!

The shows really took me BACK!! I love that your growing up included shows like I Love Lucy too. I’m around your age, and I think Nick at Nite was on our TV more than anything… (until Friday night, of course, and then it was TGIF!!)… Do you remember Balki on Perfect Strangers? ha ha ha

I always think of my neighbor (who has passed) she would always make us and her kids popcorn to watch the Cosby show on Thursday nights. We watched Cheers as well. Also, I mean Slater wasn’t your back up plan? 😆I am a little older… 😆 JTT was too young for me… I just thought of you g Simba after the Lion King came out. 😆 Plus, Rim would always wear Michigan Colleges and went to WMU!
Our kiddo will send me pix from yrs past too. 2 yrs ago we had a wonderful Northern Lights show! Ugh..I hope we have more this fall!

What a fun post!!! My favorite Bible Studies are: Seamless and Matchless by Angie Smith and Ruth by Kelly Minter…I have done a ton of them but these 3 stand out especially Ruth. Also in college, my roommates and I would schedule our classes around Young and Restless…haha

I love today’s post! Reading through those tv shows really took me down memory lane, so thank you for that ❤️. Also, wanted to let you know there are a group of ladies in our church going through the book Full Accessories of God: the Spirit’s Makeover for Women (it’s on Amazon) and we have only just started our Bible study but so far I love this book!
Also, I love your sign wall! I might need to copy this idea in our house.

Shay, how do you handle additional bible studies along with doing Bible Recap work book too every day? I have added in the Bible Recap study guide this year and really love it. But, I will say I miss doing other bible studies on individual people or topics. Do you do both every day? If so, about how long would you guess you spend on Bible Recap and your other bible study together?

Good question! I do my Bible Recap every day and then, I’ll do a little bit of another more in-depth study as well. Most of my Bible studies are “five days a week”, so I don’t complete an entire day each actual day…I do about half to 3/4 so when you add in the weekend, I can finish five days worth of Bible studying. Does that make sense? Total, I spend *about* 20 minutes on TBR and then 20 on a Bible study.

This makes perfect sense and helps so much! I think the Type A in me wants to do “all the things” the “correct” way and sometimes my brain doesn’t pivot. This is a great idea to add in another bible study. Thank you so much for the help, Shay!

As a mom of two daughters, I felt the top list. Nothing I own is actually mine anymore. The best part is when I ask where something is and somehow no one has seen it. I complain about it now, but I already know someday I’ll miss them wanting all of my things.

I went to a lesson in my neighborhood, yes! I loved it. I don’t know that this is the season for me to really dive in and learn and play though. I left that night with all of my notes and info wanting to play more often but right now, there is just nothing in my schedule I would swap for that. Maybe another season?

Oh My word, my Papa would come home from deer hunting to watch his bestie Victor! Our Mama would tell us not to watch it and take a nap instead (yeah right) since it was considered ‘trashy.’ She had to know we watched it anyway but we did not tell and neither did Granny & Papa. The soaps of the 80’s were much cleaner than most shows streaming these days…

After way too many phone charger chats, I ordered this (I don’t know these people so not a plug) and put a picture from a trip to Ireland of me standing in front of a danger sign. It turns out that an embarrassing photo of mama is a deterrent to phone chargers disappearing!!

Who’s The Boss is on Disney+ – I loved that show!
I’m finishing up the Jesus and Women study now (someone else recommended it above), and I’m blown away by how interesting/informative/inspiring it is. The homework is lighter, but it’s chalk full of goodness. I can’t recommend it enough; I’ve been telling all my friends! And I also loved all those Beth Moore studies. ❤️
Also, we wouldn’t have been friends decades ago – Jonathan Taylor Thomas was MY intended. 🤣😉
