If you know this blog at all, you know that Kensington and I go to Baby Boot Camp four mornings a week. Last night, was our Christmas party and I just couldn’t go another day without mentioning my sweet boot camp friends and recognizing how important they’ve become to me over the last 13 months.
Last November 1, I showed up at the park with my six week old in tow not sure what to expect from the class. I was nervous about how she would behave during the hour, nervous about my six week post-natal body and nervous that I wouldn’t mesh with any of the other girls. Boy was I in for a treat. I love the friends I have made this last year. Nancy, Helen and Jody were all there on day one, and over this last year, we picked up Colleen, Rachel, Tracy and Cindy for our morning workouts.
These girls are all AMAZING! In one year, we’ve been through quite a bit together…freezing weather, high winds, hotter than Hell Texas weather but more importantly, miscarriages, illnesses and now three pregnancies. If I stop and think about it, I see these girls more regularly than my family…more regularly than my other friends…they’re that one constant that I see each morning (well…if I’m being honest, we might not all show up every morning, but for the most part we’re all consistent…and we don’t let you skip too often without giving you quite a bit of grief).
At first, Baby Boot Camp was about the workout, but now…it’s really more about the fellowship. It’s not often that you get so many women together early in the morning, no makeup on, hair in ponytails, sweating…and form sincere friendships.
So, here we go into 2010…me and Kensington and baby number two will all three show up for our morning workouts…but you know what…they’re way more than workouts. They’re a wonderful part of our day filled with friendship and a lot of laughter.
Thanks Baby Boot Camp girls! Kensington and I love spending our mornings with you (and your wonderful children!!)!!!!
