It’s Friday!
And not just any Friday…a giveaway Friday!
I haven’t done a giveaway in a while, so when Nordstrom reached out to me about talking winter wear, I was like heck ya…and let’s giveaway something too! So, read through my favorites this week and make sure you enter to win below…because with today’s giveaway, FIVE READERS will win.
Just like every Friday, I’m linking up with my friends Erika, Andrea and Narci and sharing my favorite things. Happy Friday friends!
So, about a month ago, my sweet friend Andrea did an entire post on these trays. And I officially declared her a genius.
They’re these thin plastic trays that we now use all.the.time. Our kids have been using them for activities (coloring, cutting, Play-Doh) and especially as place mats with our meals.
Because of the lip around the edges, all of the crumbs and such stay on and cleaning up is a breeze! Plus, the funnel end on one side makes it really easy to discard stuff into the trashcan. When they sit at the bar, we find that the flat edge works better, but at the table, the pointed end leaves room for little elbows and such. I took these pics on Sunday night…and of course, my kids were being totally silly…
…because you know…they’re crazy 😉 . I love these trays and am so thankful Andrea blogged about them! Anything that makes clean up quicker is a win around my house! And side note: on Sunday evenings, we eat at the bar. I don’t know why? We just started that tradition and it’s stuck. Love these crazy kids. You can find them on Amazon HERE. (Side note to my mother: Mom, order some for your house. Trust me.)
This week, I tried another video by Fitness Blender on YouTube. I liked this one even more than the first one I tried!! This one was her No Equipment Upper Body Workout with Cardio Kickboxing Intervals. I loved how it switched between a burst of cardio and some sort of upper body exercise (like push ups and such). It moved fast and I was tired at the end and sore the next day. All signs of a good workout!
So far, I’ve tried:
Fitness Blender No Equipment Upper Body Workout with Cardio Kickboxing Intervals
Yoga By Candace’s Power Yoga
Fitness Blender Cardio & Total Body Workout
Blogilates Total Body Pilates
Whoa! So many comments on What’s Up Wednesday this week! First, there were comments about this…
…we asked who your favorite Bachelor is and everyone said basically the same guys: Sean (ah!), Jason, Ben and Andrew. All excellent choices! I don’t know how I forgot to blog about this…but coming home from Park City two weeks ago, we were in line behind Andrew Firestone and his wife and their three kids at security in the airport. Such a nice looking family! We didn’t say anything…we just stared. Kind of like people do when I go out to eat with Sean, Catherine and Samuel 😉 .
And the second biggest comment topic from Wednesday was what am I putting in my kids’ lunches? I told you guys that I’ve started making all of their lunches and snacks for the week on Sunday afternoon and it’s totally rocked my world in a great way. Who knew such planning could bring me such joy?!? Here is what’s going in their lunches (not necessarily all at once, but these things are on rotation):
Turkey wraps with little or no dressing (so that they stay fresh and not soggy)
Peanut Butter wraps
Pasta salads
Turkey Pepperoni
Yogurt
Chips and Salsa
Chips and Hummus
Strawberries
Orange slices
Baby carrots
Trail Mix
All of these things seem to hold up well if I prep them on Sunday and then put them in their lunches later in the week. It has been a game changer over at the Shull house!
So…I’ll try and make this the last time I talk about tea for a while. The problem is that you ladies now have me hooked.
#cantstopwontstop
So…it’s basically your fault I’m talking about it again 😉 .
This favorite is for those coffee drinkers out there…I finally found the tea that to me, can replace coffee. Thanks to the tea lovers commenting on my blog, I’ve decided that…
…Hot Cinnamon Spice from Harney and Sons is my favorite. It just feels heavier and richer than many of the other teas I’ve tried. As a coffee drinker first and foremost, to me, it was hard to start drinking tea because it just didn’t seem as substantial in my cup as coffee does. Is that a weird statement? I don’t know…that’s just how I feel. That being said, the tea drinkers who comment here said to order both Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice and their Paris tea and I LOVE THEM BOTH. So, if you’re a coffee drinker considering the switch (or like me, just having a little bit of both coffee and tea during the day), this is my recommendation for you.
Oh friends…I’m in the middle of a really good Bible study. A few weeks ago, I was eating dinner one night with some girlfriends and at one point, we all had cried about something (a lot of it was tears over the same thing) and one of my friends said how she was doing Priscilla Shirer’s Bible study The Armor of God…so, I went home and ordered it and IT IS SO GOOD! I recently did a post about my daily quiet time that you can read HERE. If you’re looking for a new Bible study, I highly recommend this one. It speaks to me every single morning when I open it up.
Now, I believe I mentioned at the top of this post how I’m going to talk about Nordstrom’s Winter Wear and give five winners a prize? Anyone else remember that??? Well, I do! First, here are some of my favorite things from Nordstrom this season. We all know me…I have a uniform of sweaters, jeans and booties this time of year…
This black sweater is so light and thin and I’ve already worn it twice this week (Monday and Wednesday). Don’t judge…it’s so comfy and kind of works for every occasion. It comes in three other colors too 🙂 . I paired it with my jeans, my favorite tank and these booties that I wear daily. Speaking of which…the booties come in a cocoa brown color too. Love them.
I was asked a lot on that post about my jacket. It’s from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale last July, so it’s no longer in stock (Hinge is the brand) but this one has a very similar color and I’ve seen it in person and it’s really cute!
But my favorite thing to wear this time of year…
…are my Ugg slippers and pajamas. Because it’s winter and I just want to hibernate like a bear.
So, today, I’m giving away one pair of my favorite Ugg slippers to five lucky winners!
You enter to win below and then five random people will be selected. You get my cozy Ugg slippers in your color of choice and we’ll all hibernate together. Deal? As for my leopard pajamas? They come in two other patterns too and are super comfy to wear around the house. Nordstrom does winter right: jeans, booties, sweaters, jackets, pajamas and slippers. What more could you need?
To see some of my other favorite winter finds, scroll and click below…
And finally, today, I’m sharing my Favorite Valentine’s Treats! Because friends, it’s going to be here before we know it!
Click HERE to see all of my favorite, festive and simple Valentine’s Day recipes.
Happy Friday! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Your clothes are the best. Theres nothing that you post about that I’m like “nah, don’t love that.” Everything is all about how fast I can get it into my cart, and onto my doorstep. Have a great weekend!

I have loved tea for years since my mom got me a kettle also. Here are a couple of tea products that I would not do without http://www.teavana.com/us/en/teaware/tea-makers/black-teavana-16-oz-perfectea-maker-011034893.html?cgid=tea-makers&srule=Featured&sz=12&start=0 and http://www.teavana.com/us/en/teaware/tumbler-cups/shiny-red-tumbler-011069311.html?navid=tumbler-cups&start=1
I love the one cup tea pot perfect for when I am fixing tea for just myself and the tumbler is amazing and keeps tea hot for hours and hours. I could make tea in the morning and it would still be hot in the afternoon! They have several different colors also with the brown being the cheapest which is the one I have.
Have a blessed day!
Tara G. says
We have kept trays in the van for years to catch all of the crumbs & ice cream drips & for coloring. They’re a sanity saver!
Erika Slaughter says
Happy Happy Friday! Jeni could have been a commercial for that bible study. Right? I ordered it as soon as I got home that night. And yay for five winners!!
kellie Carrara says
TGIF!
I’m totally checking out that devotional — looking for a new one!
Love the trays — they remind me of school — oh and how they keep the MESS contained! 😉
The Nordstrom sale? Um, hold me back! My office IT dept is going to come take my computer away!
And thanks for the UGG entries…. i LOVE pjs and slippers.
Kelly says
I love your blog! Recently I was struggling with a bible to read and get through and my friend sent me to your post that you blogged about on the one day bible. I read it and immediately got the one day bible and now my struggles have gone! In love with that bible, so thank you! What an awesome giveaway!! Crossing my fingers!!
Jenn Mills says
Such a fun post!
I’ve recently started mixing in hot tea to my daily routine. I’ve been loving the pomegranate green tea from bigelow!! It’s so good and doesn’t need any sweetener ?
Happy Friday!!
Jessica says
I agree with your Harney and Sons tea choices; those are my favorite as well! I have also enjoyed their Tower of London tea if you want another variety. This has a similar flavor profile to Paris : )
Susan says
Do you download the videos for the Bible study or just use the book? Love Pricilla Shirer! My 11 year old just finished a fiction series she wrote for children. He loved them!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve been able to just use the book for this one.
Susan Williams says
She did an online bible study this summer through Lifeway that required you to buy a book but she has videos online that are still available. They are not exactly the same as the videos to purchase and are much shorter. Just in case you ever want to view them – here’s the link just in case you want it!

I am going to order that study today! Our small group is doing The Love Dare right now! So far we all like it! I am making your spinach jack tacos this weekend too! Your recipes have been a game changer for me in the kitchen! Happy weekend!
Kristin Tate says
What night of the week and time does your small group meet? I am praying about starting a study for our women at church, starting with The Armor of God.
Narci says
So many great things today!! First, you look darling in that black top and jacket!! And, I love Priscilla Shirer! Her studies are fabulous!
Morgan Preston says
I just finished the Armor of God in December with a group from church. It.is.amazing! I loved every second of the study. Be sure to watch the videos, they are awesome too!
Sheaffer Sims says
Those UGG slippers are my favorite things too. I wear them EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. My feet are sad when they aren’t on.
Jenn says
I am loving the tea posts! I ordered that Cinnamon tea directly from their website it was about $15 for 50 sachets and there was free shipping on all orders (plus free samples!). That’s where I will be ordering my tea from now on!
Miranda says
So totally random, but my family and I get to come to Texas and we staying near McKinney, so excited to check out your little town, you have made it sound so interesting! Any other ideas for our little visit to Texas. We are actually staying in north Richland hills area.
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I love drinking tea…when I’m sick… I can’t get over the “it’s for only when I’m sick” part to drink on a daily basis ?
Nikki says
Ordered my very first pair of Uggs (slim profile) earlier this month. I’ve had them for three weeks, but our high temps have been in the upper 60s. TODAY is the day! Our high is only 55 so I can’t wait to put them on! Would love to try the slippers.
Holly Hopkins says
We are Davids Tea fans here…I’m not sure if you guys have that in the states or not? They make a tea called Jumpy Monkey & it has coffee beans in it. I love it and it gives me that kick I need in the morning.
Susan says
I’m so glad you like fitness blender! I did this one yesterday and it’s one of my new favorites, a great total body strength workout in just 20 mins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM-Z3axdxUg&feature=share. I’m also doing The armor of God study and getting so much out of it. I’m really hoping for those ugg slippers. I have had them but the inside is totally worn away because I wore them so much! Have a good weekend!
Leanne says
I just started the exact bible study with a group of girls from my church. We’re only on our second week, but it’s so good!
Marisa Tompkins says
At the beginning of the school year I ordered these Bento boxes by Orgalif off Amazon for my kiddos lunch boxes. They are fantastic because they are reusable, cut down on zip lock bags, keep portions in check and are BPA free!

I JUST switched from coffee to hot tea for the month of January for the first time. It was super hard, but I came to love hot tea. I’ll have to try yours!
Lyndsey Smith says
I love you’re Friday favorites! Would you say the Armor of God is geared more toward women or could it be a good study for my husband and I? Looking for a study for us to do together but not necessarily “marriage” based!
Mix and Match Mama says
I think both men and women can do this one! I’m sure it’s slightly slanted towards women, but not too much that a man couldn’t really get something out of it.
Lyndsey says
Thank you! I you have any other suggestions for studies I’d love to hear them.
Christine says
I just finished up this study and I think it would be good for a husband wife study.
Brittany says
We are three weeks into that study for our women’s ministry at my church and it is amazing! So good to get our attention back where it needs to be.
Carrie Ferguson says
What a fabulous giveaway. I’d love to try those cute slippers!

Ordering the Bible study right now. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for all the work you put into the blog. I enjoy reading it and my kids love seeing the pics of your sweeties. 🙂 (hope that didn’t sound creepy…my kids are teenagers and love babies/little kids.)
Also ordering the tea…trying to break my coffee habit!
Amanda Wilson says
How is Ashby?? I hope you have a good weekend!!
Mix and Match Mama says
She’s a trooper :). This one was hard.
Kim says
Can you tell me if the sweater runs true to size? Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I believe it does. I bought an xsmall.
Sarah says
I can’t wait to try some of your Valentine’s Day Treats, they look amazing! You should give the Harney and Sons Green Tea with Coconut a try, it comes in the pink can. It’s a lighter tea so it might be a good one for the spring summer. But it’s amazing hot and cold! Love it!
Kelly says
I kinda want to switch to being a tea drinker. I can drink tea plain … but coffee is more like, “i’ll have some coffee with my sugar and cream!”
Love those Ugg slippers!
heidi says
What a lovely giveaway! !
I need to drink more tea that sounded yummy!
ColleenB. ~ Texas says
I could use a new pair of slippers considering mine are totally falling apart.
thank you for this giveaway opportunity

Really good study, just finished it with a group of ladies at church!
Linda Mealor says
“The Armor of God” Bible Study is a great study. We are currently doing Priscilla Shirer’s “Discerning the Voice of God” and only in week 3 and it is such a good study. She is really amazing.
Lindsay D says
I’m going to order the Bible study!! I’m so glad you are liking the cinnamon spice and Paris tea!! I love the sachets they come in. So pretty!! Happy Friday!!
Kelly says
I love the Armor of God study! I actually led it for a women’s group at our church. Really good stuff;). Also, I am a tea drinker from way back, never drank coffee. The Harney and Sons brand is new to me so I ordered both of your suggestions (the hot cinnamon is on sale!;) instead of the sweater/jammies/ ect. suggestions that I usually end up purchasing from your Friday Favorites:). I hope Ashby is recovering quickly from her procedure and that you all have a wonderful weekend!
LisaD says
Just started The Armor of God with a few ladies from the neighborhood and it is so good!!
Ashley says
Hi Shay! I recently started that same Bible study with a group of women at church. If you ever get a chance to watch the videos that go with it, they’re amazing and very equipping. Enjoy. 🙂
Jenna says
I want to check out that devotional! I’m loving the cinnamon tea, too! Just an FYI- Target has it for $5.99 for 20 sachets in a tin. It’s called Hot Cinnamon Sunset, but it’s also Harney & Sons and is the same exact thing! Now I want to try the Paris tea!
Meagan Ruse says
That bible study is absolutely incredible! I did it right after the girls left and literally cried my way through it❤️
Heather S says
I keep meaning to ask where your phone case is from? Love the colors! It looks so sturdy too.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a Speck!! They’re so durable!!
Suzyh says
OH the Armor of GOD is soooo good! I did it in a bible study last summer with a group of friends….we finished up the book and then we all watched the movie War Room together! LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about it!!! Can’t wait to hear your final thoughts on the study!!
Kelsey says
All great favorites!! It’s funny that you mentioned people staring. I had always wondered how people reacted when they see you all out & about! I have those polka dot pj’s you are wearing and they are so comfy! Did yours fade though? Mine definitely have.
Angie says
YAY!! So glad you like the Cinnamon and spice tea I told you about! It’s amazing isn’t it?! Have a wonderful weekend!
Stephanie says
I got those slippers for Christmas and LOVE them! I was never a huge fan of the Ugg craze, but these are a game-changer. I wish I could wear them every time I left the house. If it weren’t for your blog, I’d be missing out 🙂
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
Ok now you have me wanting to try all those teas. I’ve been drinking so much tea this week here in Park City to keep warm, so I’m interested in trying new ones! Thanks for linking all the workouts, I can’t wait to try the upper body one too! Have a great weekend 🙂
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Briana says
It may seem biased since I’m posting this on your blog, but Sean will always be my favorite Bachelor and Catherine my favorite “bachelorette” 🙂 I remember watching his season and on the first episode, I wanted to be Catherine’s BFF.

Megan Butler says
I need to order some of that tea!????
Rose says
Thanks for the bible study recommendation. I have been thinking of starting one! I also love Harney & Sons. They have so many good ones. My favorite is Black Vanilla. I feel this is a “richer” flavor as you mentioned. Also, I have been know to reuse the tea bags (I can get two cups of tea out of each bag). Their tea is a little pricey so I want to get my money’s worth!
Bekah Bruce says
Love that lightweight sweater! And the trays! Definitely going to be looking into those! Thanks for the Bible Study suggestion too! Have a great weekend!
Jessica Z. says
Hi from CA! I’m a fellow Harney & Sons drinker (Paris is my favorite – it was even my wedding favor!) and the next time you’re in NYC you should visit their store! If I remember correctly, it’s in SoHo. There are walls of tea, loose leaf and bagged, and tons of tea gear. There is also a small tea shop in the back where you can get tea & treats. They might even do an afternoon tea. Glad you’re enjoying the tea life!
Melissa Sexton says
How do you package the chips, salsa, hummus, etc for the week to come? I am always nervous my kiddos food will get soggy or stale if I don’t pack it every morning. And that makes for a very busy morning! Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
In Yumboxes off of Amazon!
Kerry says
I’m a one cup a day coffee drinker but would like to try tea. Can you tell me…do you add anything to yours or just drink it straight tea and water? Being from South Texas I like cold sweet tea but my waistline does not. I’d like some diversity.
Mix and Match Mama says
I was drinking it straight but several blog readers suggested adding something…so, sometimes, I add a packet of Truvia.
Bekah says
Such a great giveaway! I remember when you and Sheaffer gave Ugg slippers away for your Christmas giveaway and I really wanted to win then… maybe this time! Fingers crossed 😉 Have a great weekend Shay!
Paige says
When you said you pre make the kids lunches… I remember you also saying you started using the yum boxes. Do you have several yumboxes for each day of the week?? Haha maybe that’s an odd question. I ask because I plan on buying a yumbox for my child next year at school but I was in debate if I should buy more than one for cleaning purposes or prepping etc. Thank you! I love reading your blog ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I bought more Yumboxes and it has revolutionized my life :).
Carrie says
These are a lot cheaper then yumboxes and are also BPA free dishwasher safe. In fact 4 of them are 1/2 the cost of 1 yumbox.
https://www.amazon.com/EasyLunchboxes-3-Compartment-Bento-Containers-Classic/dp/B004S129AQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485572848&sr=8-1&keywords=easy+lunchboxes
I use them with pack-it freezable lunch boxes for my kids so I don’t forget the freezer pack!! If I need more then 3 compartments then I use silicone cupcake liners/molds. They make the liners in a variety of shapes.
Meg says
I know exactly what you mean about tea, as a coffee drinker. I’ve tried to love it but every I time I drink it I just get sad that it’s not coffee! #dramaticmuch? Plus, the fact that you can see through to the bottom of the cup is so bizarre to me! I will have to try that one because substantial is what I need!
Jess at Just Jess says
I love Harney and Sons tea! I will have to recommend that devotional to my bible study as our next study. Jess at Just Jess
Lisa Richardson says
Your comment about coffee just seeming heavier than tea is 100% accurate for me. Some days I’ll have a cup of hot green tea (trying to work some that into the old routine you know). I feel the same applies to fat free coffee creamers, they just don’t give the coffee any “body”. I wish I could drink it black, but “bleck” is how it makes me feel.? Have a great weekend Shay!!!
julie says
Shay-you have! to try roasted dandelion tea. It sounds strange, but it is THE closest thing to coffee I’ve ever tasted. If you add cream, it really tastes like a cup of coffee and is much richer than other teas. Also, it’s caffeine free and helps digestion. It will be life changing! 🙂
Katie B says
I love Harney & Sons Paris tea as a “paris fog latte”. Sweetened and with steamed milk. It’s delish! Try H&S Tower of London Blend. It’s close to the Paris blend, I alternate between the two. #iamacreatureofhabit!
Melissa says
Just started the Finding I Am Bible study by Lisa TerKeurst this week. Really excellent so far. I will check out Armor of God next. Thank you for the suggestion!

There is a mom in my town who started a YouTube channel a year or so ago about fitness and she’s fabulous! She is also a certified personal trainer. Look her up on YouTube! Her name is Sheree and her channel is called MomShape! She does several “fit in 15” videos and it’s so easy to squeeze in a few of those a day!

Love love love your posts! I was curious if you recently made a change to the site so that it wont show up in a feeder? I read all of my blogs through Feedly but now only the first few sentences show and I have to click over to your main page to read the rest of the story. Is that intentional?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have no idea how Feedly works. I’m sorry! I didn’t intentionally mess with it!
Nicole says
Ok no problem. Its probably user (me!) error! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Suzi Aubrey says
Hi Shay, I entered your giveaway, but I accidentally enter the wrong name that I use on Pinterest and it won’t let me go back in to change it. My correct name on Pinterest is Suzi Aubrey, but I entered Suzi Barkley, because I just got divorced and that is what it was. Anyway, love your blog and your cute family! Thx for doing so many fun giveaways too!
Cheryl Cramer says
I am a tea drinker… A cup of nice hot water can make me happy with nothing in it. I only have coffee if we go out for breakfast. Thanks for the chance to win the UGG slippers. I enjoy starting new bible studies. It is so good to feel loved by the Lord and know that He will continue to teach me for my whole life until I see Him face to face. God bless you and your family. Hugs

The Armor of God is an amazing study! My ladies group went through it last spring. We are considering repeating it this spring, because there’s so much to apply to your life. You can’t absorb it all in one time through. I adore the entire Evans family. I listen to all of them!!
Traci Rose says
I did that bible study a year ago and still think about it, so so GOOD!! I just started another one by her called, one in a million, first week and I am already just so excited! Happy Friday! Thank you for blogging, it truly brings joy to my day 🙂

Great post today! So many cute items 🙂
I have been a tea drinker for years (coffee is too harsh on my stomach). I recently purchased an electric tea kettle from Greville & it has CHANGED my life. My water heats up so much faster than when I had a stove kettle.

So glad to see this on your list today! Thanks for the giveaway – best of luck to us all!!

Loved Armor of God study!! I heard she is doing one for younger children- that would be awesome!
Tea question #5000 🙂 … bags or the sachets?
Kristi says
I love the Harney & Son’s Hot Cinnamon as well! I picked it up at my local Target (it’s $5.99 for a box). It does have caffeine in it, so not the most perfect sub for coffee, but it is a nice change of pace. I also really like Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea (also at Target). It’s caffeine free and is delicious; reminds me of some of my flavored coffees. I totally get what you mean by wanting a substantial tea.

Harney and Sons Cinnamon is my favorite. Blueberry is a close second. I still love my coffee though.
Ashby is so brave and such a trooper with her surgeries. God brought you all together at just the right time.

You are really putting a good case against switching to tea! Do you not drink coffee at all anymore?
What a fun giveaway too!

I bought some trays with a lip from IKEA about 2 years ago. They have been a serious lifesaver! We use them for playboy, crafts, food, Legos, the list goes on… I also wrote their names on them all fancy so they can see whose is whose and learn to recognize their names. Now my almost two year is asking for her own. 🙂

I also use a yeti for coffee/tea- it’s the best! I ordered lids from amazon that slide open/close to prevent splashing with hot beverages, their perfect!

Ugh, those UGGs!!! Lovely.
H&S Hot Cinnamon Sunset is my absolute favorite. Every single night. In the tin on the top shelf at Target. I heard the ones on Amazon (the flat tea bags) just aren’t the same.
With your initial tea post I really wanted to comment but knew a bazillion others would. I do love Teavana loose tea and doing it all properly with temperatures and such. BUT tea bags sure are convenient. I used to hate green tea until I read the brewing instructions. If you follow them, it won’t be bitter. Why did I wait so long?!?! Trader Joe’s also has delicious teas.

I always use fitness blender. They have a 12 minute tabata (can’t remember the name but that should give you help finding it) workout that I love if I don’t have tons of time. I feel like it works out my whole body a little bit when I’m in a pinch.

It’s funny but I’m sure you get that too. I saw you and your beautiful family at downtown McKinney twice. And all we did was stare while you all were walking by because we were starstruck.
