Happy Friday!
Well, this morning is starting off with one of my FAVORITES! It’s the first annual Manda Strong Foundation Golf Tournament!
I am just so proud of this organization! Sweet Manda asked her dad to do something like this for mamas’ fighting cancer and oh my word…it has turned into his mission in life. It’s incredibly beautiful to watch unfold. To learn more about MSF, click HERE. I just know this golf tournament will be a huge success!
Speaking of favorite things, I’m linking up with my girls Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing some with you today. I’m so happy that it’s FRI-YAY!
First up, I have a question for you. One of my absolute favorite things is this…
…my Kindle Paperwhite. Question for you guys, do you know of a fabulous waterproof Paperwhite case??? I like to read out by the pool, but I’m always nervous that it will get wet. I tried putting it in a large baggie and that worked, but there was a glare off the bag (the Paperwhite is awesome because there is typically no glare). Any ideas???? I would love to know if you use something awesome!
So, I posted this pic on my Insta story this week…
…and had a lot of questions!
If I were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one thing, I would bring coconut oil. (I mean, if a cell phone with great service wasn’t allowed…) I was showing it on Insta Stories this week to say it’s great to use as a hair mask after swimming…but, I also use it for all of these things: sunburns, chapped lips, to remove even the most stubborn eye makeup, and as a body moisturizer. It really does everything. It’s just basic coconut oil from the grocery store. Right there on the oil aisle. I use it two ways with swimming, sometimes, I apply it to my dry hair BEFORE I get in the water and then other times, I apply it after as a hair mask (and wash it out later…typically a few hours later). It’s a-mazing.
Something else that’s amazing for pool hair…apple cider vinegar.
I’m pretty sure a reader gave me this tip, but way back in 2012, my hair was green all summer long.
I mean…I could not for the life of me get rid of the green.
And then someone suggested washing my hair in a little ACV and bam. Hair was back to normal.
Okay, this is really cool! If you’re local then you’ve heard of Play Street Museums, well my friends just purchased a franchise PLUS they own a Play Street Museum on Wheels! They have taken the traditional Play Street Museum concept and put it into an vintage Airstream that travels to different locations. They share the same vision as Play Street Museum: to inspire imaginations through dramatic play and to encourage exploration through educational activities. They can host parties at homes plus at events and even schools. Look, they spent the day at Ashby and Madeley’s school just the other day…
Isn’t it so cute?! Those are their two oldest girls (really good friends of Ashby’s!). They set up the inside of the Airstream and the outside too!
Even Britty got to play 🙂 .
Ah! I just think this is too cool for words!
Ann Marie is extremely passionate about education. She taught kindergarten and now stays home with their three little girls. She cannot wait to pursue her love of education again as she travels around DFW bringing Play Street Museum to elementary schools, preschools, daycares, festivals, wedding receptions, birthdays, HOA parties… the list could go on! Just picture any place where children need entertaining and PSM On Wheels will be a fit perfect!
Contact them today to have Play Street Museum On Wheels travel to a school or community event near you! I just love, love, love this idea. My girls had the best time playing at their school!!
So, if you’re working on our Every Day in May goals (you can see mine HERE), then this is for YOU…
Look at this cute cup my friend Amanda made me! I mean…that’s adorable, right?!
She knows how much I love a cute cup, so when she saw that one of my goals was to drink more water, well dang, she nailed it, right?!! You can find her Etsy store HERE in case you need one too!
Hey, hey, hey…look what is back in stock…
…my America tee 🙂 . Don’t all of your red, white and blue holidays need it???
Speaking of red, white and blue…have you seen my Pinterest boards lately? I mean…I’m pretty mediocre at most things in life (and completely stink at even more), but I am a PROFESSIONAL PINNER. Ha! (I’m really not, I just love to Pin like nobody’s business!). You gotta check out this board…
And last but not least, I wasn’t even going to take a pic of this dress the other day, but when I stepped outside to leave, I just thought the color was BEAUTIFUL! So, I took an awkward selfie…
…because I wanted you to see the dress and my Stella & Dot earrings too. Isn’t it pretty??? Online, it looks more coral, but in person, it’s a little bolder. It also comes in blue and right now, it’s 40% off 🙂 .
Okay, if you missed any of my posts this week, you can take a look back. On Monday, I shared our SUMMER OF FUN list, I also showed you a Mother’s Day Menu for this weekend later in the week as well as asking advice about CHORES & ALLOWANCES (you guys gave me some FANTASTIC feedback!).
Happy Friday, friends! Don’t forget, if you have a great waterproof Kindle case, please comment!!!! xo

How do you find time to read all of these wonderful books??

Shay, your girls (& Britt) are just so beautiful. The photos from Play Street Museum should be framed in your house somewhere. x

Marianna says
Love that water bottle to help drink more water. So cool it is labeled with measurements!
Becky says
These are great! Can you share your favorites for teacher appreciation/end of year teacher gifts?
Mix and Match Mama says
Our school has a week where every day, it tells you the theme and you bring that. For example, we had flower day (but people get really creative and do like actual flowers or bouquets made of candy, cookies, gift cards, etc), they have gift card day, favorite drink day, etc. That helps make things nice!
Miranda Foster says
Where are the girls patriotic dresses from?
Mix and Match Mama says
Those were from Gymboree last year!
Lael Mills says
What size shirt did you get in the America shirt and is it strechy? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Small and yes! These tees always wash and dry well too!
Beth Miller says
My answer to pretty much every question is coconut oil! I LOVE it! It’s great to cook with too since it’s a much more stable fat and doesn’t break down at high heats like olive oil and vegetable oils. I use it to wash my face every night. You do have to be careful about how much goes down your drains since it can build up and cause a blockage.
Mother Henn says
Man, I wish we had Play Street in our area! Probably a bit too far for them to drive that air stream to NC, huh?!? Such a great concept!
Andee Hart says
Amazon has several different options for waterproof Kindle Paperwhite cases. Those would probably work well for out by the pool. 🙂
Erin Port says
I love that water cup and the airstream is too cute for words, what a fun idea! I love coconut oil, I use it as my nightly serum mixed with lavender oil and it has been a game-changer!
Adrienne says
I found an Otterbox case on Amazon for my Kindle. It’s awesome!!
Johannah says
This is the waterproof case that I have.

I love it and it doesn’t make is super bulky which is great!
Kristen says
Hey Shay – quick question about the coconut oil. Before swimming do you just put it on your ends? Or everywhere? Also, does it get in the pool? I’d hate to make the pool oily. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Everywhere! And no, the coconut oil is pretty much absorbed into my hair. It’s the most amazing stuff!
Hillary Merriman says
Theres a Salon hair care brand called Malibu C that is specifically made for swimmers to get the green out of hair! You should ask your stylist if she can do a Malibu treatment on you, and then there are maintenance shampoo/conditioner products you can buy to maintain it all summer long! Hope you try it, let me know how it works!
Mix and Match Mama says
Who knew?! Thank you!!!
Coreline Mayfield says
Looking forward to hearing tips on your paper white. I actually use my mini iPad to read most of the time and would also like some waterproof way to read it poolside ..
Misti says
I have a waterproof Redpepper Paperwhite cover. I’m terrified to fully submerge the Kindle, but I’ve gotten it splashed and it’s always kept it dry!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you!!!!
Maria Bishop says
WALNEW Universal Waterproof eReader Protective Case Cover for Amazon Kindle (on Amazon for $10). I’ve used these for years. I buy a new one every season (because it is only $10!) just in case the plastic decides to wear out. It is easy to stuff in your pool bag and throw your kindle in and read away, with no fear of splashes!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you!!!!!
Beth says
I don’t know about a case but we have been looking at the Kindle Oasis which is waterproof without the glare. A lot of people prefer the 2016 model of the Oasis over the new one.
Gardner Story says
I use that same coconut oil to remove my eye makeup and moisturize. Have you ever used Thayers WItch Hazel toner? I love the lavender scent. It doesn’t sting and it moisturizes as well as refreshes. I’ve noticed it has really evened out my skin tone and I now rarely have breakouts.
Claudia Mcconnell says
I don’t have a good recommendation for a waterproof case but my mama just got the newest Kindle Paperwhite Oasis and it is waterproof!! They said you just can’t read underwater lol. But it makes me want to trade mine in for the upcoming summer fun!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Shut the front door! Really?
Marisa says
Adorable dress! Love the color. Unfortunately its mostly sold out.
Ann Marie Tennison says
SHAY! We sure love your family and are so thankful for your support of Play Street Museum On Wheels! Thank you for the sweet post!! & those items are a few of my favorite things, too!!
Chrystianne says
That dress is GORGEOUS! Too bad they only have 2 sizes in both of the colors 🙁
Kathy Shirk says
LOVE the dress, but it’s sold out in both colors in nearly every size!
Mix and Match Mama says
Holy cow! It wasn’t this morning when I checked!!
Rebecca Jo says
I thought of you because you posted about the Coconut Oil & that night, they were talking about Meagan Markell used coconut oil on every part of her body & I was like, Shay said it first 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahahahahaha! I want to be her friend. And Kate’s too. Right?!
Kathy L says
I really need that cup that you got from Amanda! Drinking half my weight in water every day is my goal!
I had a waterproof case for my previous kindle that was so hard to take off when I didn’t want to use it. I just found another one that I think I’m going to buy for my paperwhite, and it’s under $10!! I love my kindle too! https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-Case-MoKo-Samsung/dp/B00ID1HB0A/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1526045532&sr=1-7&keywords=waterproof+kindle+paperwhite+case

How much apple cider vinegar do you use in your hair? I have dark hair so it’s not a problem for me, but my blonde children get green hair.
Mix and Match Mama says
about two tablespoons or so. Just pour it on, scrub it in and then wash it out!
Crystal says
So thankful you posted your Paperwhite request… & timely!
I bought one just recently. (You all love it, Amanda posted that she loved it…I had to give it a shot even though I thought I would miss holding an actual book…) The verdict? Love, Love, Love it!
Funny thing, the very morning you posted this I was contemplating emailing you for a suggestion for the very same thing- I always think to myself- Shay probably has the best recommendation for ….(fill in the blank 😉 lol
I wanted to give people time to comment & am excited to checkout all of the suggestions.
Thank YOU!!!
PS…my 1 deserted island item would be coconut oil too!
I’ve been told it’s my equivalent to duct tape- I believe it fixes/does everything…(Which I think has to most definitely be true!!!)
Kelly says
I ordered the water cup the last time you posted about it, I bet Amanda is a busy girl making all these orders for your readers:). And, now I ordered the star tee from the ilycouture website, so cute!!
