  • Mandi February 19, 2019 at 5:33 am

Shussssssh!! Stop telling everyone about Cadillac 😉 It’s my favorite place too but the wait is always so long now. 😢 I also go to their sister property in Plano too, Taverna Rossa. It’s a bit bigger, and nearly the same menu!

  • Bri C February 19, 2019 at 5:46 am

    Love love love Fredericksburg Texas!!

  • Alexis deZayas February 19, 2019 at 5:47 am

I so enjoyed this!! Can’t wait for round two!

  • Narci February 19, 2019 at 5:47 am

This was sooooo fun! Love these kinds of posts! 🙂

  • Jess February 19, 2019 at 5:50 am

Would love to know 3 places you still want to see in the US. Maybe one set with kids and one without? Or they might be the same? Either way…fun post!

  • Hekla Gunnarsdóttir February 19, 2019 at 5:53 am

I like that you wanna visit Iceland and when you do, I would recommend to go (also) outside the regular south Iceland / Golden circle routine that most travelers go. Visit West Iceland, and the West fjords, the east or the north and the best time would be in June (when the sun does not go down ) or in the winter (nov-feb) when the northern lights dance in the sky 🙂
And your kids would love the whale museum in Reykjavík.

  • Elspeth Mizner February 19, 2019 at 5:55 am

Love this idea! I may do one of these for my own blog and borrow some of the question ideas if that’s okay?! So fun

  • Catherine February 19, 2019 at 6:05 am

I LOVE a London fog latte! Yum!
James is also one of my favorite books, although I’ll be honest, I used to hate it. As a baby Christian, and I’m sure under conviction for many things, it made me squirm! So I didn’t enjoy it.
Now I do love it and take it as loving instruction! I’m hoping that means I’m further along in my faith walk!

Always fun to read your blog, Shay!

    Have a great day!

  • Lauren February 19, 2019 at 6:18 am

Love this list! My Oxford Year and Bread & Wine are in my top 10 favorite reads too. Also, didn’t know you were a King of Queens fan!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 7:38 am

I love that show SO MUCH!!!

  • Laura February 19, 2019 at 6:29 am

I’ve taken Andrea’s pulled pork to 3 families with new babies in the past week! Love that recipe so much.

I’m totally stealing this as a blog post idea!! Thank you. Have you ever thought about visiting Canada? We have some pretty great places to visit. I’m biased since I’m from the East Coast (Nova Scotia) but check it out. And I live in Toronto and there is so much to see and do here and so many great places to eat. Name the cuisine and we have it!!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 7:38 am

I’ve been!! I need to go back and do and see more!! It’s beautiful!

      • Sandra Dickie February 19, 2019 at 10:01 am

Please visit western Canada as well. Banff, Lake Louise & Jasper are stunning! Also, your dollar is worth $1.35 here so your purchasing power is immense!

  • Carly February 19, 2019 at 6:51 am

This was so fun! Happy Tuesday!

  • Daniele February 19, 2019 at 6:52 am

Love these top threes and your Bible verses. Do you have favorite verses to share with those who are grieving?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 7:38 am

I think the three I listed are perfect for many things including grief. I’m sorry for whatever loss you’re experiencing.

  • Tish Ferry February 19, 2019 at 6:56 am

I love that you did two Starbucks! Haha! So true to have the treats vs normal! Ugg slippers is my fav go-to when I get home too! Now I just need to look at those bible studies. I’ve done so many but never a Beth Moore. Friends have always said they have a lot of work with them and I never want to give up some of my daily scripture reading/devotionals I already do in my quiet time. Thanks for a great list! Simply Tish

  • Heather February 19, 2019 at 7:12 am

Did you see there are talks of doing a Fraiser reboot?! So exciting!

  • Brooke Richardson February 19, 2019 at 7:15 am

These are so fun!!!! You need to start watching Outlander or GOT stat!!!!!

  • Laura February 19, 2019 at 7:15 am

It’s so interesting to see how much your favorite high school subjects now play a role in your career and life. I read a book called “The Girl I Used to Know” and it says the things you loved to do when you were 12 are usually what you will enjoy as an adult only in an adult variation. We are who we are!

  • Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams February 19, 2019 at 7:19 am

This blog post is so FUN! I’m so glad you answered the favorite trips one. I also HIGHLY recommend the three places you want to go. New Zealand is my all time favorite country I’ve visited and I can’t wait to go back one day!! You guys would LOVE it!
    xo
    Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams

    • Patty Anderson February 19, 2019 at 1:45 pm

I agree! We’ve been to both Australia and New Zealand multiple times and find NZ to be a beautiful place with some of the most friendly people we’ve ever met. My husband actually talks of retiring there someday. Go! (And while you’re there, do the Lord of the Rings tour and visit Hobbiton!

  • Angela February 19, 2019 at 7:26 am

Love all of this!!! One question…have you ever tried Lululemon yoga pants? I really love them because they feel soooo buttery soft, but…. after having them for one year I’ve noticed they really start to show their wear. I’m wondering if you’ve ever tried them and how you would compare them to the Athleta ones you posted? Thanks! And Happy Tuesday, Shay!!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 7:37 am

I have one pair and LOVE them!! That being said, I have like a million pairs from Athleta because I really feel like they wash and dry to perfection time and time again.

  • Lynn February 19, 2019 at 7:39 am

I love that in one of your older posts, you said “you won’t ever find the Shulls on a Disney Cruise” (BARCELONA & RIVIERA CRUISE: DAYS 5 & 6), but now it’s listed as one of your top trips with kids…hahaha! I can’t wait for my kiddos to get a little older so we can take them on Disney trips! 🙂

I was thinking maybe you could do a Top 3 about travel fails/lessons learned or “Momfessional” moments. And Top 3 kitchen gadgets, baking tips, organizational/cleaning tips…I could go on & on asking for your advice! Haha

  • Kimberly C February 19, 2019 at 7:43 am

This is such a fun post!
I thought of about 1:00 AM when I woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep: Top 3 kitchen appliances (thinking small random ones — not the big ones like stove, oven, coffee maker, ect)

  • Angie February 19, 2019 at 8:02 am

We love Frasier so much we just names our puppy Frasier!

  • Sara Robinson February 19, 2019 at 8:02 am

Yay Boston! Best city EVER. 🙂

  • Taylor February 19, 2019 at 8:05 am

I joined a small group this year and all of the girls in the group can’t stop talking about how good The Quest is by Beth Moore!

  • Allyson February 19, 2019 at 8:06 am

This is one of my favorite of all your blog posts (except your book reviews…I live for those)! This one was so much fun and packed with fun things I want to look into!

  • Tracy February 19, 2019 at 8:11 am

    Fun post!

  • Jenna Lathrop February 19, 2019 at 8:13 am

This was such a fun read! I love your bible verses. I also loved seeing where you would like to visit. I loved getting to know you better.

  • Deborah Pigg February 19, 2019 at 8:29 am

Shay, loved your top three post. Since Ireland and Scotland made the list, I suggest a very binge-worthy series to watch. I am sure you have heard this before but worth repeating: watch Outlander. The first season is so good, you will want to continue through all four.

  • Kayla A Bruce February 19, 2019 at 8:37 am

This is so fun! I’m totally with you on the nail polish and books– also three of my faves! I love me some London Fog Tea Lattes, too. I get the vanilla syrup sugar free, so it’s not even much of a splurge!

  • Crystal February 19, 2019 at 8:39 am

LOVE this post! So much fun!

I think my favorite part was “TOUCHING EACH OTHER”. I lol’d the 1st time I read it & when I saw it was repeated, I ended up w/tears rolling down my cheeks. So, so funny (& real!)

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 8:45 am

      Seriously. Why won’t they stop?

  • Lauren February 19, 2019 at 8:42 am

Odd question, but do you drink alcohol at all? Wine specifically? What’s your favorite?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 8:44 am

I do! Is it wrong that I’m not picky? What I drink depends on what I’m eating.

  • Kristin Beam February 19, 2019 at 8:51 am

Loved this post!!! So fun to do a summary of all the random subjects 😊

  • Chelsey Fernandez February 19, 2019 at 9:11 am

I loved this post! My husband and I went to Australia and New Zealand for our honeymoon last May and it was the best! We did the North Island of New Zealand due to the differences in season but it was absolutely beautiful- felt like we were in a whole different world. We cannot wait to go back and explore the south island. I hope you all get to check it off your bucket list soon!

  • Hilary Hobelman February 19, 2019 at 9:18 am

I’m SO glad you brought up that you guys went to DC a few years because I completely forgot about that trip! We’re going in May to visit the in-laws in Maryland who live 30 minutes outside of DC, and since I’ve never been before, we’re going to site see and do all the touristy things DC has to offer for two days while we’re there. Since we’re going for such a short period of time, what are your top recommendations that one MUST SEE/DO while they’re there for only 48 hours? (Also going back and reading those 3 blog posts now for inspo!)

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 1:18 pm

You need to check out my post! There was literally too much for us to do and it’s all FREE! It was such a great trip!!

  • Debbie February 19, 2019 at 9:26 am

Great post Shay! My all time favorite movie 🎥 is The Holiday, then second It’s Complicated, third Notting Hill! All fab! I need to try some of your Starbucks drinks! ☕️

  • MIndy Henson February 19, 2019 at 9:42 am

OMG I just got back from ICELAND it was amazing. You have to go!

  • Tanya February 19, 2019 at 9:46 am

This is such a fun list – as usual, I got so many great ideas from your faves. I’m curious – do you work on the Beth Moore studies on your own or in a Bible study group? I’ve done them in a group, but there are so many good ones. I’ve thought of just doing them on my own. Do you watch the video or just do the book? Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 1:18 pm

I do both! Sometimes, I do them in groups at church, but often, at home. I rent the videos off of lifeway’s site (info in each book) and do the homework during the week.

  • Susy February 19, 2019 at 10:17 am

    Favorite post ever! So forthright!
And. . . . what a great future travel list!
Australia—Kangaroo Island and Tasmania—magical! Such a big country; each part so special. Love wombats!!!
New Zealand—kayaking, hiking volcanos, but oh the wildlife—penguins; wild kiwi on Stewart Island.
Iceland—waterfalls galore, but hold children’s hands—not a guardrail in sight.
    Trying a London Fog today!

  • Jan February 19, 2019 at 10:45 am

I’m laughing so hard at “Touching Each Other.” I’m a 79 year old former school teacher, mom and grandma and my sons are over 50 years old. My grands are ages 15, 13 and 11. Touching each other is a universal issue with siblings. The other one for me was “He’s looking at me funny!” One time I piled up cereal boxes between them at the table so my sons couldn’t see each other. LOL . Another time vis a vis touching each other. I was driving with my grands and had heard he’s touching me or she’s touching me a zillion times. I happened to be in front of the police station and I pulled in and just sat there. Silence in the car and it was golden and remained so till we got home. I never said a word.

    • Patty Anderson February 19, 2019 at 1:49 pm

Good one, Jan! One of my favorites when all 3 girls were young was “she’s looking out my window!”

  • Jennifer February 19, 2019 at 10:53 am

Iceland is by far my favorite vacation ever. Go! Also, have you tried a London Fog with peppermint added (with or without the vanilla). If my stomach is anxious I find it helps. And it’s good!

  • Sande Wier February 19, 2019 at 10:56 am

New Zealand is a MUST – I smiled big when I saw it on your list. Went there last August (their Winter) and it’s amazing!! Best vacation ever (we were in Scotland the same time as you – my second fave vacation). We loved Waiheke Island in the North Island, but the South Island is by far the place to be — Queenstown has our heart. It’s a ski town with a huge lake at the base — it’s a casual, smaller town with lots of places to walk/shop, and lots to do!! Milford Sound via helicopter is magical.

  • Sara F February 19, 2019 at 11:43 am

This was a fun one to read! This would be a fun monthly link up!! You could have a topic for fav things to blog about 🙂

  • Teresa February 19, 2019 at 12:23 pm

I’m going to TX this weekend for TCU Mom’s weekend. Can you give me 3 things to do in Ft. Worth/Dallas?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 1:16 pm

I never get over to Fort Worth, but I will say, you should eat at Joe T. Garcia’s. Cash only!

  • Becky Swenson February 19, 2019 at 1:04 pm

Can you link your kindle here? I’d love to know which one you have! I’m in the market. Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 1:15 pm

I have the new waterproof paperwhite off of Amazon!

  • Jen February 19, 2019 at 2:04 pm

When you do a Beth Moore study, do you watch the videos with them or just do the book portion of the study?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 19, 2019 at 2:26 pm

      I do both!!

  • Carmen February 19, 2019 at 2:06 pm

Three favorite German foods? Or more than 3….

  • Katie February 19, 2019 at 3:21 pm

Loved This! Two Things – 1 – Have you found somewhere to still get Let’s Be Friends? It is my favorite and I was so bummed when they stopped making it! – 2- What version of the Bible do you use?
Oh & there is absolutely nothing wrong with not being picky/not having a favorite wine 🙂

  • Kami February 19, 2019 at 4:39 pm

Breaking Bad & Ozark 🥰 I was so sad when they ended.😭

  • Tamra February 19, 2019 at 5:23 pm

Such a fun post, Shay! You are such a delightfu, fun, positive, warm, lovingl person!❤️

  • Shannon Molenburg February 19, 2019 at 6:47 pm

Loved reading this Shay!!! Just curious- have you and your family ever been to a Babe’s Chicken Dinner house?? There are several in the DFW area and I’m working part time at one to pay off student loans. Great pies and banana pudding and they are very kid/family friendly!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 20, 2019 at 5:09 am

  • Paula February 19, 2019 at 7:34 pm

  • Traci Rivard February 19, 2019 at 9:23 pm

Thank you so much! I love this post! and I love your blog!

  • Robin February 19, 2019 at 9:31 pm

May I suggest Call the Midwife as a binge watch? It can be both funny and heart wrenching, sometimes in the same episode. Also, before Christmas I asked on Facebook your opinion about packing cubes. At the time you had not used them. I went ahead and bought them for my friend and have also been happy to read how you have been pleased with them as well.

  • Kristy Moore February 19, 2019 at 10:08 pm

    Top 3 ‘junk foods?’

  • grace February 20, 2019 at 7:44 am

    LOVE LOVE THIS!!!!

    How about TOP 3:
    1. Favorite games to play with husband or friends
    2. Favorite movies to watch with kids
    3. Words to describe yourself
    4. wishes
    5. most proud ofs
    6. hobbies

Would love to hear growing up (as a kid or teen) what your favorite TV shows, movies, music, things to do were! So much fun.

Also, from all the lovely photos and stories it can seem that your kids never ever fight so hearing that they “touch each other” too helps!

    Best to you and yours!

  • Amanda @ That Inspired Chick February 20, 2019 at 12:06 pm

Add me to the list of people who also want to steal this idea for their own blogs! haha! It was so fun!
