Okay, how many times can I talk about deodorant in 2019? The answer? At least twice. Hahaha!
If you missed this…
…back in January, I shared my reviews on these four all-natural deodorants. There were things I liked about all four, but I didn’t love any of them. (You can read the full review HERE.)
Soooo…you guys left me #allthecomments and based on those, I bought four new ones to try…
I’ve been using these for the last 6ish weeks and today, I thought I’d weigh in once more.
I had over 250 comments in January, and friends, once again, you lead me to the right thing. I really liked all four of these better than the original four…but two of them, in my opinion, reigned supreme.
NATIVE: This deodorant was HIGHLY recommended by you guys. In fact, it might have been the most suggested in the last post. That being said, SO MANY OF YOU, cautioned me NOT to buy this from Target, but from their actual website instead. I was told (one person even emailed me a letter sent to them from Target) that the Target Native and the one sold online contain different ingredients, so I bought this on their site. Okay, I loved the way this one smelled and LOVED the application. That being said, it’s not in my top two because I did think it left white marks on my clothes. Does anyone else think this? I really thought this worked so well! I felt dry, I felt fresh…but I don’t love the white marks on my clothing. I am still wearing it on days when I don’t think that will be a problem, but that was the one downside to this brand.
SCHMIDT’S: Okay, I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but I do believe this was the second most suggested all-natural deodorant and guys, I loved it too! Now, once again though, it’s white! Urg! I so badly wanted this one to be more transparent…i.e. not on my clothes. What I loved about all four of these is that I NEVER ONE TIME BROKE OUT! That’s what’s so weird about natural deodorants, they can make you break out/get red/a rash/irritated, but these did not!! So, all of you Schmidt’s fans out there, thank you for the rec! I loved it…just didn’t love the white.
PRIMALLY PURE: I loved this one. In fact, I have pretty much stopped using the other two previously mentioned and now, primarily use this one and the next one. I loved how this one was applied, I loved that this one appears “clear” instead of white and I honest to goodness think this one works better. Thank YOU so much for the rec because I’m really happy with Primally Pure!! Dare I say…this one was my favorite out of the whole bunch? Out of all 8 that I’ve tried!! This lemongrass scent is amazing and light and smells perfect for spring/summer, but it does come in other scents too. Yes, yes, YES to this one!
LaVanila: Okay, I loved this one too! I really stood in my bathroom and tried really hard to decide if I liked this one better or the Primally Pure, and finally, decided they just about tie. I bought this online at Sephora and was pretty hooked from the word go. It comes in a variety of scents, but I picked vanilla coconut and love it. It’s clear when applied and keeps me dry. I felt like this one really felt like my old deodorant (you know, that non-all-natural one 😉 ).
I mean…two posts on deodorant? When I started blogging 11.5 years ago, I did not see that coming 😉 . What else can I “try” for you guys? In a twisted kind of a way, this was a fun little experiment! Comment below and a) tell me if you’ve tried either the Primally Pure or LaVanila and b) if there is something else I should test out for us. I love doing this with you!!
Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you try a new deodorant and love it as much as I do!!

The NATIVE one seems like what most people go for when they switch to natural deo! Will definitely check it out. 🙂

Alicia says
If you’re just switching you may want to consider the Primally Pure in charcoal – the charcoal helps pull out toxins and makes the detox period a bit quicker! Good luck, switching to safer deodorant was a long process for me (similar to Shay, I tried them all!) but so worth it!!
Leah R says
Yes Alicia is right! Definitely try the one with charcoal in it! Charcoal has amazing benefits for our bodies!
Joanne says
I agree with Alicia! I use Primally Pure in charcoal and it works great! It smells clean, too.
Erika Slaughter says
Oooh!!!! I need to try your faves immediately!
Jennifer says
Hi Shay,
I’ve been using Native, but I’m going to try the Primally Pure. Now, I don’t have a request that you try a new product, but could you do a post about how to prep your bikini area for swim suit season? I hope it’s not too personal, but I need help! I’m an almost-40 mom of three, and I sort of know the options out there, but I’m scared of them all and want to do better this summer, ha! Thanks, Shay- love your blog!
Melissa says
Agree! No one shares this info when they look amazing in the pool 24/7. Mine bothers me every summer. Is waxing that area necessary to avoid the razor burn look? Or do you buy the mini bikini area razors?
Lisa says
Oh yes this! I always wind up wearing swim shorts because my skin is SO SENSITIVE to razor burn. No one talks about what to do! It’s like there is a day in high school where everyone figured this out but somehow I missed that day. 🙂
Melissa says
Exactly! This type of post would be incredibly popular!!!
Lauren says
Lisa, your comment made me LOL! I feel the exact same way and am also stuck with swim shorts/skirts.
Natasha says
I would 1000% recommend doing laser hair removal for your bikini line!! It’s expensive but you can get GREAT deals on groupon that make it super affordable and you will never have to deal with razor burn (or waxing) again! It is so much less painful than waxing, and there is no “recovery” time after- no lingering pain or soreness. I seriously can’t recommend it enough:)
Tanna Boshart says
I started getting a bikini wax last summer….I’ll never go back to shaving! I go every 4 weeks and then don’t have to worry about it. I do occasionally need to tweeze a few “outliers” the week of my next appointment. Overall, I’m SO much happier getting waxed and not shaving anymore!!
Julia K says
Try the European Wax Center if there is one near you! Mostly painless and leaves that area perfect for summer!
Tanna Boshart says
Bikini wax is the way to go! I’m 34 and just started getting them regularly about a year and a half ago. One of the best decisions!! It’s so much less to worry about and way less maintenance for myself. I go every 4 weeks. I occasionally tweeze a few “ outliers” the week of my appointment.
Valerie says
I agree a shaving/waxing post would be great!
Question to those who wax. What about when it starts to grow back but isn’t long enough to get waxed yet. Doesn’t this leave you with a week or two with unwanted hair?
Ruth says
Hi Shay, since your last post I’ve been using “No Pong” and it’s been great. We’ve had a really hot summer here in Australia but I’ve stayed dry and fresh. In many ways I feel I’ve been easily convinced that I could never not use anti perspirant as I would be a stinky mess. However this is definitely not the case. Thanks so much for opening up the conversation and offering great suggestions to a better alternative for our bodies.
Alyssa says
Possibly different types of dry shampoo?? Hahah
Alyssa says
How about try different dry shampoos??
brenda says
I was just going to say the same thing! I just can’t find one that I love.
Allison says
Can you buy primally pure in stores? Hate to pay for shipping!
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t seen it in stores…but maybe???
Camrie Worley says
If you sign up for their subscription (they send you a deodorant once every 6 weeks & you can cancel anytime) then shipping is free!
Narci says
I totally want to try the lavanila now! 🙂
Annaliese says
Anything that is more natural! Especially makeup! I’ve read how much toxins we add to our skin everyday and but scared to try new products. There is so many post you could do with this! Thanks for being willing to try new things and let us know. And for potentially saving our lives in the long run by suggesting all natural!!
kasie.miller@gmail.com says
Thank you for this! I snagged one from your comments on your last post and it just isn’t working, so I’m off to try these!! Seriously why is this such a difficult search?!?:)
Leslie says
I use the Schmidt’s brand and the charcoal one and it’s grey. Blends in well and I haven’t had issues with marks.
Katie says
dry shampoo- live in humid area and looking for one that doesn’t weigh down my hair
Sheaffer Sims says
I’m still loving my Native, but if ever stops working for me, I’m coming straight back to this post!
Meredith says
My two are faves, Schmidt’s and Lavanila. I actually just threw the rest of my Schmidt’s away cause of the white it left on my clothing :(. My other new favorite is the brand megababe rosy pits. It smells so good! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and so far.. no rash. Very similar to lavanila!
Beth Miller says
I used Primally Pure for years and loved it too! The price was just too high once I found that Schmidt’s worked just as well for me. Plus, it’s at Costco in a three-pack!
Sara Alexander says
I use Lavanila, vanilla passion fruit. Last time I bought it I got a free mini one and free shipping after spending $15, this was off of Lavanila’s website. I should try Primally Pure!
Jenn says
Has anyone recommended Lume natural deodorant yet? I personally haven’t tried it but I have a friend who swears by it. https://lumedeodorant.com/products/lavender-sage-stick
I have been using Native but I just don’t think it’s cutting it if I am doing any sort of physical activity, so I need to try something new.
Christine says
I started using Lume this week and LOVE it!!
Adri says
I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks and after trying several other types of more natural deodorants, I’m sold on this one.
Brandy says
I need to try these. I currently use the schmidt’s but don’t love the white marks! Be sure to detox your underarms—Beautycounter charcoal mask is a great option to detox with ?
Clare says
Sadly I did get a rash from Native but it took more then a month of using it for that to happen, and I bought it from the site not Target. I’ve actually switched to the Crystal since thenand really love it!! Thank you for your reviews!
Diane says
When I originally made he switch, I used Primal Pit Paste. Then I switched to Native, but I believe I had an allergic reaction to it…itchy rash. I will have to try your two favorites to see how I do with those.
Lynn says
Have you tried any deodorant from Young Living? I haven’t, yet, but wondered if you liked any as much as your oils.
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t! Only these 8!
Gwen says
Try Norwex deodorant. It’s my fav.
Sarah says
I’m so glad you’re doing this! I’m in the middle of my own experiment-Schmidt’s and native right now. I like the Schmidt charcoal but it’s a little rough going on. Native isn’t as bad. I tried love planet (I think that’s what is called) and it DID NOT WORK! At all!
Also, I think I remember you saying something about a breakout/rash and detox period. What did you do for that?
Thanks!! Have a super day!
Heather says
I like the Native too. But, a friend recommended Ursa Major, so I’m trying their “No B.S” deodorant, and I like it so far!
Sarah says
Non toxic make up (Pure Haven for example) !
Rachel Davis says
Okay, I instantly went online to Primally Pure and ordered some Deo for the B.O. (lol)! You are totally missing out here! You should post a share code so that you get a little back 🙂
Margo says
I did not like native at all.. was going to give up on natural deodorant, but then found primarily pure… I’m in LOVE!!
Mother Henn says
Perfect timing on this post! I have experimented with different natural deodorants as well, and am finishing up my Native. Just this morning, I was trying to decide if I want to reorder and am not completely sold on it. I’ll give these other recs a try now, so thanks for sharing. It truly helps.
Kim says
I’ve never tried any of these, but I did stop wearing deodorant for about 6 months. Then I smelled myself once at the gym, so I figured I needed to start wearing some again. I think it took that long for the unnatural deodorant to wear off my arm pits. Anyway, I googled natural deodorant and made my own! It’s super easy, just 3 ingredients (coconut oil, arrowroot powder and baking soda). I’ve been using that now and I haven’t smelled myself again. I really don’t wear deodorant much, only on gym days. Just another option if you’re feeling like you need another thing to do. 🙂
Sarah says
Ambre Blends!! Ambreblends.com. Women-owned, all-natural company based in Indpls, IN. Their deodorant is AMAZING – smells so good (and works!!). You will never try another natural deodorant again! After camping and hiking for 12 miles one day, my friends and I still smelled good. It’s because their products work with your body heat, and the fragrance intensifies as your body heat rises. Their roll-on perfume and spritzer are also amazing, and all scents can be layered. I am never one to leave a comment on a blog, but I had to share. 🙂
Brooke Richardson says
Okay, I’m telling you but the Thieves toothpaste from Young Living works amazing as deodorant. And it smells so good!
Lucy Skyins says
Toothpaste as deoderant?? How can the same item be used on such very different areas??
Heather B. says
Yay, thank you for this post! I like Native and Schmidts but the other 2 were on my list to try after the comments on your last post. Now you’ve convinced me. Tip for readers: you can get free shipping by subscribing to the deodorant, but you can easily cancel before your next shipment/charge. 🙂
Elizabeth Lesser says
Love this! I have been using Primal Pit Paste for a few years now, but I may have to give these last 2 you mentioned a try. I am all for trying out and hearing about any non-toxic products such as makeup brands, dry shampoos, etc. We try to use all nontoxic products in our home and I definitely am always looking to try new stuff!
Carol says
Aesop! They have both an aerosol and a roll on. Pricey but it has worked well!
April says
I’m currently using Native – but I agree it leaves white on my clothes. I’m totally going to try one your top 2 from this post. I thought the Kopari left me feeling sticky – do either the Primally Pure or Lavanilla leave you feeling sticky? Thanks for sharing your new finds!
Emma says
I had tried natural deo years ago and tried LaVanila and loved it!! But once it ran out I just went back to the non-natural deodorant because it was more of a convenience thing picking it up at the grocery store rather than ordering it online. But thennnn your last post made me get back into natural deodorant! I am currently using Schmidt’s and like it but definitely loved LaVanila more! I feel like it applies and goes on so much better. So my next purchase will be LaVanila once Schmidt’s runs out or maybe I’ll dabble in Primally Pure! Thanks so much for the mini experiment. It was fun to read and follow along!
Lynda Clark says
Trying Primally Pure next, love Native but always open for something new! I agree with some of the others… dry shampoo!! I can’t seem to find one that works well. Thanks
Ranisa says
Okay, I’ll try your two favorite. A weird thing though, I tried kapari and milk and honey off your last suggestion and I am LOVING the kapari. And I liked the milk and honey way better than anything I had used on the past. Thanks for the new suggestions.
Tracy Baack says
Loving these tops! I tried Primally Pure after reading comments on your last review and an excited to try the one you got from Sephora.
I will say about Native, I used it several months ago and LOVED it at first, but after about 3 months of using it I noticed that I started smelling terrible… Like HORRIBLE horrible B.O. So now I’ve been using the first Primal Pit Pastes you suggested and alternating in the Primally Pure, and so far now after a couple of months still going well.
Christine says
I started using Lume this week and think it’s great.
TIFFANY DIIORIO says
When used for a couple of months, Native turned my skin (underarms) brown. GROSS! Anyone else have that problem?
Kristin S says
Yes! Mine too. It also stained my shirts.
Chelsea says
Hi Shay! So I have been on the market a while as well. My absolute favorite is Lavanilla Sport Luxe. I have tried the other Lavanillas and they just don’t seem to last near as long as the sport one! It’s worth a shot! Thanks again for sharing your reviews 🙂
Katy Stahl says
I loved the application and fragrance of Lavanilla, I thought for sure it was going to be “the one”, but after three weeks I got a rash. I’ve read it’s the baking soda. I switched to Honestly Phresh Naturals that doesn’t have baking soda about a week ago, Costco sells it online. The application is great, it works well and smells good (I bought the variety pack). I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t get the rash again!
Thanks for trying all these versions and your reader suggestions. I started with the charcoal Primal Pit Paste and believe it helped my body detox.
Susann says
I love Native and have used it for a couple of years. I’ve never had issues with it leaving white streaks on my clothes. My husband and teenage boys use it, too. Great informative post!
Bronte says
LaVanila also sells a underarm detox mask that really helps with any breakouts that happen (especially when switching to a aluminum free deodorant). It worked really well for me and helped me avoid that “detox” time when you may have to go without wearing any deodorant to let the skin heal from any rashes.
Tasha says
Lavanila is what my daughter and I use. It did a great job for her even when she was training at gymnastics. I’m so excited that it’s in your top two!
Briana says
I’ve never tried LaVanilla but I’ve been using primally pure for years and it’s the only that I’ve found WORKS and doesn’t leave a rash. The blue tansy and the charcoal are my favorite!
Kayla says
And as a blog lurker and never-comment-er, I SOOO thank you for doing two posts on natural deodorant. I’m in the process of trying now and have tried two (including the primal pit paste) that just don’t keep me fresh and dry. Will try your two new faves – thanks so much Shay!
Kristin S says
Shay, I have a graveyard of natural deodorants. 15 years ago I tried one for the first time. I was in Denver heading in to a baseball game and smelled raw meat. Yep, it was me. So gross. I gave up for a long time. In recent years I’ve tried every one you have listed and have ended up giving them to my mom – she just doesn’t sweat and I am a profuse sweat-er.
Last year a medical professional told me that if I shower every night and wash it off, anti-perspirant isn’t toxic. Because I do shower every night, I kind of moved on. BUT I was placing an order with Rocky Mountain Soap for Christmas gifts and saw they had rave reviews on their deodorant so I ordered for friends and my mom and one for me. Um, I’m hooked. I don’t smell. I only get damp and not drenched when working out. I’m totally shocked. Now, it’s a roll on so you have to walk around for a few minutes letting it dry but after weeks of using, I think I finally found one. It may not be good for summers in the South here but I think I will buy it again for winter for sure.
Yes, you are ordering from Canada but their shipping is really reasonable and the exchange rate is in our favor. I love many of their products. I discovered their store on a trip to the Canadian Rockies a few years ago. They are based in Canmore but have stores all over.
jamie says
this deodorant part two couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! i’m in the process of detoxing my under arms to prepare for natural deodorant! i work in the children’s ministry at my church and i told the girls i was detoxing! and then today at an almost all staff breakfast the subject came up and i told everybody! and now i’m off to order primally pure! my daughter actually uses that brand and loves it!
Jennifer says
I have had good results with Nfuse (it is a roll on). It has magnesium in it and is supposed to add extra benefits. Has not left white on my clothes or left a residue behind on my tshirts like some of the other brands but may cause problems in the summer with sleeveless. I at time feel like I have white “balls”/residue on my skin.
Found it from a GMA steals and deals. I have also wanted to try Megababe’s Rosy Pits.
Erin E Port says
Lavanila is my favorite too 🙂 It hasn’t made me break out and it works great. I occasionally have to detox my armpits but other than that no stink – wahoo!!
Stacy says
Who do you wear these deodorants when you work out? I have a natural deodorant that works fine on the day today, but doesn’t seem to work when I am really sweaty. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
It does seem to work when I workout!!
Laura says
I’m ordering your two faves. I ordered Primal Pit Paste when you first mentioned it and have ordered more a few times. BUT…every time I start a new pack I get the worst rash and go without deodorant for weeks. Just this morning, I thought the rash was all gone until I tried the deodorant after 2 weeks. Immediate burn. From the same brand I’ve been using for a year!
Chelsey Fernandez says
I am one of the ones who suggested Schmidt’s but I have noticed it starting to leave white on my clothing. I am going to have to try your two favorites that don’t leave residue behind! For a new product to try – at home sunless tanner! There are SO many out there, so many different ways to apply, etc. that could be a good experiment.
Meg H says
Primally Pure has won me over too! I’ve been trying to find the ‘diamond in the rough’ of natural deodorants for over 3 years now… saw a suggestion for it on Instagram and here we are! 🙂 So happy with it. It’s truly the best!!!!
Aundi says
Primally Pure is the only natural deodorant I have ever tried, but I LOVE it! I originally started with the sensitive unscented one because 1) I have sensitive skin and 2) I don’t like my underarms to smell like anything. I feel gross & self-conscious if I can smell anything coming from my pits, even if it is the scent from my deodorant. That being said, Primally Pure changed their formula to only have one formula instead of a “regular” and sensitive version, and I was also really intrigued with the charcoal one. That’s what I’ve been using for probably a year now and I love the scent when I apply it, but I love that I never smell it throughout the day.
Brenda says
I am trying to cut down on the coffee and step down to having more tea. But I just don’t love it the same way. Do you have any tea recommendations for a coffee lover?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m learning that I need my tea “thicker”, so I have been adding splashes of almond milk/cream or getting a Medicine Ball at Starbucks because they steam a little lemonade in there and it makes it feel “thicker”.
Caroline says
I would love for you to do a post on eye cream! I am a new mom and am always taken aback when I see my big bags under my eyes in pictures. Help!!
Jen says
Does anyone have issues with the fragrance in the natural deodorants? I tried the Native and I had instant migraines and have been unable to re-wear the clothes I had on at the time even after washing. I ordered the Lavanille from Sephora and I sent it back. Even with it sealed in the box it was too strong for me I could tell. Ugh it is so hard. I sweat so bad though. Even if I am cold I can feel the sweat dripping down my underarms with these natural deodorants. Has anyone else had this? Is it part of the detox process? I am doing it now since we live in the tundra this spring. But I keep going back to my old conventional deodorant.
Amanda says
I’m curious whether you’ve gotten Andrew to try natural deodorants? My tween son is just starting to need one, and I’d love to start him with something natural. Do these work for the guys too?
Mix and Match Mama says
Andrew keeps refusing to try…sigh…he likes what he’s always uses.
Stefany says
My hubby is using the Every Man Jack in the Cedarwood scent. He has been using it for about 6 months now and he has no complaints. He didn’t even get a rash when he switched over from regular deodorant.
Malorie Fuchs says
Hi Shay, I’m curious on how long you’d anticipate these to last (one tube, bar, tub, etc.). Does it seem to apply a lot and you’d need to restock often? I haven’t tried natural deodorant and am putting in my first order to try the Primarily Pure!
Mix and Match Mama says
Good question! I anticipate them to last as long as “normal” deo. It doesn’t seem to apply heavier more than the other kinds.
Jaime Scott says
I love “the healthy deodorant” and get it at Anthropologie. I tried Native (ordered from their website), but the coconut oil in the product did not come out of my clothes and went rancid, almost ruining the shirts. And they were expensive shirts from Athleta. It took lots of soaking in baking soda, vinegar, and purification essential oil. I was so frustrated, so that is my caution with any deodorant containing coconut oil.
Rachel says
Do you use the charcoal one at all, like at night, or just the Prinarily Pure as you did with “regular” (dare I say…Secret or Degree???) deoderant?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t use the charcoal one any longer!
Sandy Blitch says
I tried Lume, a suggestion from a reader on your blog. DID NOT WORK! I could smell the sweat after a couple of weeks. I realize everyone is different. I am now trying Kopari. I still perspire some, but no odor. I am 66, my sweat patterns have changed post-menopause, so guess I am a work -in-progress!
Julia Beckley says
I just saw that two scents of Lavanila are for sale on Thrive Market so I’ll be adding one of them to my next shipment! Thanks for the detailed review! Any reviews on natural products would be great!
S. R. Leide says
Hi Shay! I’ve been using Native for years now and I love it. They even offer a seasonal PSL scent in the fall!! My trick to avoid white deodorant stains on my shirt is to roll it up to the armholes, put my head and arms through, and then roll down the shirt. Voila! No more deo stains!!
Brittany says
My top recommendation is by Skin foodie- you can buy it off etsy but it was also just picked up by select Whole Foods stores. My favorite scent is the clove sandalwood. It can be a little melty in the tube if it gets too hot but hasn’t been a problem for me. It goes on clear, keeps me dry, and smells AMAZING. Plus the creator is a mama of four and it’s her small business. She’s fun to follow on Instagram!
Hannah Y says
Lucky for me, I first tried Primally Pure when I switched to non toxic deo almost 4 months ago. Haven’t tried any others because I love it so much! Obsessed with the blue tansy scent – all their blue tansy products are amazing!!
Karli says
I loved Primally Pure for a long time (I actually used their charcoal) and then randomly started breaking out from it! I still love their face wash and other products. But now I use a crystal one instead of actual deodorant and have been loving it. I use the Crystal brand on amazon that comes in a tube like regular deodorant.
Colleen says
I would love your reviews on dry shampoos. Can’t seem to find one that I love. Also, not so much a review but a write up on apps on your phone that you love to use (I just started using ,ISE, one second every day, because a friend recommended it and I absolutely love it. I never remember to take video of my kids and after a month I have a great review of our lives with lots of daily things I won’t remember in a few years). Also, if you do any school review with your kids over the summer. I have our kids do a “Book It” where they earn fun meals (ice cream with Nana or a restaurant they’ve been wanting to go with myself or whichever adult/relative they pick), Ex. I have them read 7 books (for my 7 year old) and then they get to pick the place. Also, any apps or games that are educational. I really don’t like the kids to use the iPad but keep hearing that there are apps/games that actually help them….anytime I try to research it, I just go down a rabbit hole and get overwhelmed. My kids are about the same ages as yours so any recommendations would be great. Love your blog!
Shannon says
I had some lymph nodes removed from under my arm last summer and after that I smelled awful (I was also postpartum as well). I stopped using deodorant and now use Apple Cider Vinegar every day. It sounds odd but it WORKS! I don’t sweat or smell!
Christine says
I have used Aluminum free deodorant for at least 6 years. I started with an aluminum free one from arm and hammer but have over the years use Tom’s (ok), La Vanilla (ok and pricey), the crystal (ok) and then finally Schmidts. I loved Schmidt’s at first but after about 6 months I started to get a rash. The same thing happened to my husband. This occurred around the time they were bought out by Unilever. So my guess is that they changed their ingredients. I don’t think it was detox because I have used “natural” deodorants for quite some time. I picked up Native at Target recently and it pretty good but the scent is too strong. Maybe I need to order it directly from Native. Now I am interested in the Primally Pure. Would definitely like to see you review more non toxic personal care products especially for face and hair.
Jamie says
Yes! Primally Pure is my absolute favorite! But, I use the charcoal one and it is amazing. It pulls out toxins and detoxifies your armpits. And it smells like peppermint. I’ll never use another deodorant!
Amanda says
Does anyone know if all schmidt’s is white? They have two different scents at Costco, charcoal something and rose something. I wanted to try…I currently use primal pit paste and like that it is clear.
Linda Filtzkowski says
Has your husband tried any?? Or did you received any suggestions for men? I am married to the UPS guy so he is out in the elements day in/day out and we are having a hard time finding a favorite for him that works well. Going to order Native and see how he likes that as I see it comes in “manly” smells!!
Mix and Match Mama says
He hasn’t tried any. He is very adamant that he’s sticking with his “normal” kind.
Amy says
I’d love to know of a good natural sunscreen that’s not only effective, but doesn’t leave white streaks all over your body! ?
Erin says
Love LaVanilla deodorant! I started using it a few years above because regular deodorant was drying my skin out and giving me a rash. I will never go back!
I second the request for hair removal tips for summer. Also, any recommendations on facials, peels, skin treatments etc? Lastly, have you ever tried double cleansing? You wash you face/remove your make up with an oil or cleansing balm and then wash your face a second time using a water based cleanser. It’s life changing (or maybe just skin changing!). I use Jojoba Oil as my first cleanser and it has done wonders for my combo oil/dry/acne prone skin!
Emily says
HANDS DOWN THE BEST – Little Seed Farm deodorant cream. Pick 2 free samples from their website to help you determine which fragrance you like. 100% natural. Rub it on clean armpits, it completely disappears with no residue! I have used all kinds of natural deodorant and nothing compares to Little Seed Farm!
Dawn says
I am also on my own quest to fine a natural deodorant. I have tried Schmidt’s but I have the grapefruit kind (? They were selling it at Costco) but I find it to be rough and leave dark marks on my clothes. Next I bought Tom’s. It’s very smooth to put on but it’s also like spitting on my arm pit; I sweat a lot. Now I just picked up Alafia (it’s made right here in our town!! They have lots of ethically sourced body products: soap, lip balm, body wash and lotions.) and it’s more charcoal based? Goes on real smooth and I haven’t noticed marks on my clothes or excessive sweating!! I also bought primary pure but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m glad I saw this about Native. I’ll be sure to buy it from their site. Thanks!

Any tips on dealing with the rash after a bad natural deodorant? The native from target broke me out so bad! I ordered from Native website, and had the same problem. Still dealing with the rash……..I’m trying primarily pure next! Thanks!!!

Go without! Wait until it clears up before you apply another one.

I’ve just started using Lume and it’s awesome! No adjustment period, no harsh baking soda that causes rashes and it seems to last for days. I don’t quite get how it works, but it really does.

First deodorant and now dental floss might cause cancer. Have you seen the news about that? As an avid proponent of good oral hygiene and someone who’s been using Glide twice a day for many years I’ve now been on the hunt for decent natural floss. Have tried quite a few and am still looking. There are a surprising and dizzying number of options out there!
