I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again…I’m not a “meat and sides” kind of girl. So, holidays like Easter and Thanksgiving where the main course is almost always turkey and/or ham along with your sides typically doesn’t do it for me. (I need my family to switch over to a enchilada, lasagna, casserole themed menu for these holidays! Hahaha!) So, my plate almost always has just a little bit of turkey and a lot of any sort of casserole looking side dish. #givemeallthesides
Today, I’m sharing my Terrific Turkey Day Sides for your Thanksgiving! They’re all yummy, they’re all kind of different and they’re all perfect with turkey (or ham too!).
Happy (almost!) Thanksgiving, friends!
Chipotle Bacon Green Bean Casserole
Roasted Garlic Creamed Spinach
Cheesy Chipotle Bacon Potato Casserole
Cheesy Broccoli and Rice Casserole
Crunchy Bacon & Cheese Corn Casserole
Sheaffer’s Pineapple Casserole
I hope you find a side to go with your holiday lunch/dinner! Have the best day!!

And now I want pineapple casserole for breakfast. With brussels sprouts of course.

I’m not a meat person, and both my son and I really don’t care for turkey. I’m all about the sides and don’t even try to hide the lack of turkey on my plate. LOL My husband and son cook the turkey, but Momma’s got the sides covered!

I love all the sides for Thanksgiving and I will be definitely trying some of these for Thanksgiving.

My favorite side dish is mashed potatoes! 🙂 Totally agree that turkey is just… okay. Never amazing.

My plate at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas looks the same. A dash of meat and a lot of the other stuff.
I’m sure you’re having a fantastic time on your trip. I can’t wait to hear more about it.

I feel the same way about BBQ restaurants… they can keep the meat but give me allll the side dishes!! Beans, mac and cheese, cornbread, I’ll take all of them.

Yes!! Craig does not understand how I can completely skip the turkey and ham every single year but who needs that when you have all the sides?! The sides are where it’s at! I think I may need to make Sheaffer’s Pineapple Casserole this year!

My mother-in-law, who is Italian, makes all the traditional Thanksgiving/Christmas dishes but then always has a lasagna. Because according to her, lasagna is a side dish.
Mix and Match Mama says
Bahahaha! I love that!

Turkey is nothing but a dried up version of chicken. BLACH! I am definitely a “side chick” at Thanksgiving but my husband grills ribeyes for Christmas and I am all in! Have you seen this cute tee? Love it!

I’m not a ham or turkey girl either. My Dad always fries up venison steaks on Thanksgiving and we have homemade gravy, green beans & mashed potatoes….that is the kind of Thanksgiving I can get behind!
Andrea says
I’m never super excited for Thanksgiving food either. I am, however, super excited about Christmas and in need of some cute holiday tees. You always seem to find such cute ones. Any suggestions on where to look?

We always host a Friendsgiving the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a few of our besties for exactly this reason! I’m not huge on the traditional Thanksgiving meal so we do a “spin” on Thanksgiving and serve fall dishes that are elevated – cranberry infused prime rib, pumpkin gnoche, roasted Brussel sprouts with pancetta…you get the idea. Every year it’s different, but every year it doesn’t include Turkey!
Mother of 3 says
I’m typically more about the sides too; I like turkey but I’d rather fill up on all the other yummy stuff that I love. Green bean casserole, cornbread casserole, squash casserole… Love me a good casserole!
Diana says
I love your idea of doing a casserole, enchilada, or lasagna for the holidays! I love Thanksgiving turkey, but I’m not a fan of ham. My family always does ham at Christmas, and even my kids won’t eat it either! Maybe we’ll change it up…Christmas enchiladas has a nice ring to it! haha 🙂
