Happy Monday, friends!
Our school district had our very first “Fall Break” this year, so the Shull fam decided to make the most of it in our favorite place…back on Nantucket.
The break ran Friday through Tuesday, so after school on Thursday, we took a late flight out to Boston, drove to Hyannis, arrived at 1:30 AM and slept until 7:00. We were back up and at the ferry terminal for our 9:30 crossing from the mainland to our favorite island thirty miles away. We were SO excited to bACK!
I took a gazillion pics but let’s face it, I have posted a gazillion pics already of this place and plan on posting many more, so I tried to realllly pair down what I post to spare you allllllll the photos. The weather was beautiful on this first day. We dropped off our bags and walked right to Main Street to check out all the FALL!
Lunch outside at The Tavern is how we always like to kick off our time on the island.
We had zero plans for this entire visit. We were just going to relax, soak up the nice weather and enjoy all the fall…
…Main Street is even cuter with pumpkins!
Love this guy and this place.
Love them too.
Of course, we stopped at The Juice Bar. This was their last weekend of the season, so we had to eat as much as humanly possible to last us until the summer!
That night, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Sea Grill where I took video buuuut forgot to take a pic. Sigh.
The next morning was Saturday and…
…one of my favorite traditions is grabbing Smith after my run and…
…and getting breakfast sandwiches, coffee and newspapers from The Hub. It’s our special thing, and I LOVE the time with my boy!
All dressed and ready for the day! The temps dropped, and we had rain which only made it feel more like fall.
Following behind all my peeps 🙂 .
Rainy, chilly and cozy in Nantucket, MA that day!
It was the last Saturday morning farmers market until April, so we had to stop by. We almost always find something fun to take home from here. Sometimes, it’s jam. Sometimes, granola. We’ve purchased art and jewelry too.
Posing with pumpkins!
For lunch, we enjoyed Slip 14!
I always love popping into Nantucket Clothing Company. Lisa, the owner, is precious! Not only does she sell the cutest tees and sweatshirts, but she’s just the sweetest too.
These two. One of these days, she’s going to be so sad when she’s too big for this mode of transportation.
As we were out exploring, we stopped by a cranberry bog. They had been harvested the weekend before, but geez…the beautiful wide open spaces on such a tiny little island never cease to amaze me.
Coffee, treats and pumpkin lookin’ at Bartlett’s Farm!
Next up…
…we stopped for drinks and a little college football.
And appetizers too 🙂 .
Fast forward to dinner, and we enjoyed Ventuno!
Italian food on a cold and rainy day is always a good idea!
See? Ha!
This awkwardly low photo was taken by Madeley James. Some influencers travel with a photographer…I travel with children, hand off my phone and take what I can get.
Our final full day…
…was gorgeous!
After a run, breakfast with Smith and a nice low key morning, we headed out to just soak up the sunshine.
Does she ever walk? Ha! Sweet Ashby took this photo…
…and then we took a selfie to make sure she could be in it too.
A great way to spend a Sunday morning!
Lunch at Something Natural! I’ve been eating lunch here for at least 20 years. The weather was perfect for it!
And finally, we stopped by The Juice Bar one last time on their very last day of the season. Cheers to a great fall on Nantucket!
Don’t forget, I have blog posts about VERMONT IN THE FALL, RHINEBECK, NEW YORK IN THE FALL and WALT DISNEY WORLD IN THE FALL too!
Happy Monday, friends! xx

The Nantucket Hotel & Resort 🙂

Hi! have you ever visited provincetown on the Cape?? So much fun and cool shops, eateries etc. Definitely worth seeing!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not! It’s on my list though for SURE!

Those medium-blue jeans are super cute! Your Nantucket pics always make want to visit.
One of our kids took an awkward low photo of us the other day, too. It was so unflattering, but I figured I’m just aging and that’s what I look like now. My older daughter saw it a few days later and was like, “Mom! You look awful in that picture! That’s NOT what you look like.” I was so relieved. 😂 I thought Madeley did a good job on yours though!

What a great fall break! So many fun memories! We love vacations where we are going feels like “home.” You can get right into vacation mode.
So many places like the Juice Bar and farmers market close down about the 1st weekend in October? It’s on my travel list for next fall and k don’t want to miss those 2 places being open.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I would say that most of the places were closing that Sunday. Restaurants, shops and other places all had signs posting that Sunday was their last day until spring or even summer.
Sheaffer says
What a wonderful trip and memories!!!

These posts have added Nantucket to my bucket travel list. I really hope you go in the winter I would love to see how they do Christmas!!!!

Hi, have you done a post on how to get to Nantucket? You mentioned it quickly at the top of this post – but do you have more details? You drive- is that renting a car or an Uber? Etc…
Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t done a complete post on how to get there. There are a couple of ways. We had a car service pick us up at the airport and drive us to Hyannis. Then, we took the passenger ferry over the next morning.
Anna says
I was there at the same time! It was my first visit, and I was constantly referencing your old blog posts to see all of your recommendations! It was the BEST!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! I wish I would have run into you!
Shirley Short says
I am curious about how crowded it was in Nantucket during your trip?
Mix and Match Mama says
Compared to the summer months, not that crowded at all!
Lyssy in the City says
Something Natural was my favorite spot to eat at on Nantucket, those sandwiches are just too good! I’ll have to visit in the fall one year.

It looks like Fall in Nantucket is a great time to visit. This is on my bucket list and one day I hope my husband and I can make the trip. I always enjoy your Nantucket recaps. I think they are some of my favorite trip recaps. 🙂

It’s from Gucci!

One day I will make it there. It looks like a lovely time!

Love your new sorel booties! Would you recommend Golden Goose sneakers? I’ve heard mixed reviews about them being not comfortable. I love the look of them, so I am dying to buy a pair but don’t want to spend so much on a pair of shoes if they aren’t comfortable. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I love mine! They’re not as comfy as my Nikes that I run in…but they’re comfy enough for traveling/daily stuff.
Alison says
The photo Ashby took of you holding Madeley, is a strong resemblance of your mom. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fall break in Nantucket. It looks even better than the summer!
Amy says
Nantucket is a bucket list for sure and I’m just saving up your posts to plan a trip! We ARE planning a trip up the East Coast next year in the fall with Vermont being a definite stop. Do you have a recommendation on timing for fall foliage? I know many factors go into it that change every year but just curious on your rec. Thanks for always sharing!
Mix and Match Mama says
If you can make anytime work, I would say that late September/early October for Maine and mid-October for Vermont.
Barbara Griffin says
Alwayd makes want to go.
Kacey says
Determined to get bACK there and have the most amazing time! Long story short, this past August we ended up in Martha’s Vineyard after our ACK house rental turned out to be horrible, so I’m LIVING for all of your ACK posts and will 100% plan a trip back, hopefully soon!
Lisa says
On my bucket list! Do you have any gluten free favorites in Nantucket?
Mix and Match Mama says
Every place we eat is fabulous about offering gf options, but I think Kensington would tell you that Lemon Press is her fave!
Tamara says
My husband and I will be traveling to Hyannis the first week of November so he can attend some required training for work. We’ve extended our time to spend a few extra days in the area. We are debating going over to Nantucket for a day trip or going back to Boston to finish our stay. We have never been to either place. I’m worried with the weather and time of year things will be closed in Nantucket and we will be disappointed. Curious if you think there would be enough open for us to enjoy one day there? Or should we skip Nantucket and head back to Boston? Also, where did you stay in Hyannis?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have been to Boston in November where there is so much to do and see…so I would say that you should probably do that instead. I would hate for you to go over to Nantucket and be disappointed on your first trip over.
Alison says
So beautiful! I always love your Nantucket vacation recaps! Thanks for sharing!
Joanne says
That does look lovely! We have never thought of visiting Nantucket in the fall.

Hey there! You’ve probably already addressed this somewhere, but what happened to the Book Reviews? Did you do one in September? I always look forward to seeing those each month 😊
Mix and Match Mama says
I have, I’m so sorry! This time (and this time only!), I’m going to combine Sept and Oct into one review! I apologize!

Love Nantucket too, and I’m glad you had a good time! Question…what style/color is your Patagonia jacket? It’s super cute!
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s this style but I don’t see my color option here (there are many others though!). https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-nano-puff-jacket/84217.html?dwvar_84217_color=STYM

How far is the drive from Boston to Hyannis? How’s the ferry ride across to Nantucket? I’d love to go to Nantucket but just trying to plan it out.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s about a 90 minutes (depending on traffic) and the passenger speed ferry is one hour (the car ferry takes a solid two hours).
Mary A says
I think you’d also LOVE Salem, Mass in the fall and North Conway New Hampshire!! If you want to widen your New England travels!!
Brooke says
Wow! This place looks beautiful in the Fall! What a fun break for the kids! Can you please share where your black boots are from with the white bottom heel? They are so cute, thank you!!

Do I spy Smith enjoying an iced coffee with your breakfast and newspaper?! I love it! Raising him right! 😁
You really do need to come to Maine in the Fall! Please reach out if you ever have questions about our cutest coastal towns, etc.
Also, I saw you comment above that you actually find your Nike’s to be comfier than GG. I’ve been contemplating GG as a walking shoe, especially for traveling, but would you mind linking the specific Nike’s you prefer? Thank you so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
You did spy that!! Ha! We DO need to go to Maine in the fall! I could not agree more!! My favorite “every day” Nikes are the Daybreak ones! https://www.nordstrom.com/s/nike-daybreak-sneaker-women/5282135?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=653
