You guys, today’s Thursday post is all about my HAIR!
I feel like I give skincare and makeup (and self-tanning!) a lot of attention here in blog world while my hair takes a backseat, but today, I’m going to make hair the star of the show. Because let’s be real, it’s not always easy…
I legit saw this AND COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING! It is SO DANG TRUE!
Today, I’m sharing four different ways that I personally “do my do”…three with heat and one without.
I even made a little video here for you to watch me do all four…
So, that’s how I do those dos and now, here is the process and what I used for each one:
NO HEAT:
How I do it: For this, I either shampoo and condition my hair and let it air dry or I sleep with it damp and mess with it the next morning.
What I use: When it’s damp out of the shower (I’ll towel it off using these towels here!), I brush it out and then spray it with the Seashore Spritzer Spray and kind of scrunch it up a bit wit my fingers. This spray smells AMAZING and works like a charm. Then, I either let it air dry or I head to bed. When it’s dry, I then take my Beach Wave and Shine Spray and spray it a bit as a finishing touch to really define the wave. That’s it! No heat!
Tips and tricks: I really think you need both sprays as the Spritzer doesn’t work well on my dry hair and the Beach Wave doesn’t work well on my wet hair.
USE MY WAVER:
How I do it: On my dry hair, I section it off (since my hair is long and thick) in three sections. I then move across each section using my waver from top to tip but not including the very end pieces (I think it looks better if the ends are waved). Once I get to the top section, I really make sure to get the waver close to my scalp at the roots for better volume and lift. When I’m totally done, I often spray just a bit of Beach Wave and Shine Spray to finish it off like hairspray.
What I use: I use my tried and true hair clips, my favorite hair brush, and my waver (I just checked and I bought this in July 2020!). It’s fabulous!
Tips and tricks: Only use your waver on dry hair. Do not use it on wet! I think the waver is PERFECT for second (or third) day hair too! If your hair is blah, this can give it life. I have long hair, but the first time I saw someone with wavy hair was my friend Amy. I raved and raved about how great her hair looked and she told me she used this exact waver…and Amy has short (above her shoulders) hair.
USE MY DRYER:
How I do it: I love to dry my hair mostly without any attachments on my hair dryer and then at the end, I’ll use my hair clips to pull my hair into three sections and smooth it out with an attachment at the end and my hair brush.
What I use: I bought the holy grail of hair dryers in August 2017, and even though it’s ridiculously expensive, it’s amazing, and I haven’t once looked back. Everyone was talking about the Dyson dryer, so after being on QVC, I treated myself to one and you guys, it’s in another league. Almost six years later, and I still love it just as much as before. Whenever I go to a hotel and use something else, I’m sad.
Tips and tricks: I like to let my hair air dry as long as possible before hitting it with heat. Try not to ever blow dry sopping wet hair if you can avoid it. At the end, I’ll add a little hair oil to the palm of my hands, rub it through my dry hair and go about my day.
USE MY CURLING IRON:
How I do it: After my hair either air dries or I use the hair dryer, I take my completely dry hair and put it up in three sections using my clips. I go section by section adding curls in different directions (so some are towards my face while others are away from my face. I do the bottom section, then the middle, then the top. After I’m done, I take my brush and gently brush all of the curls out for a softer wave. Then, I top it with hair spray.
What I use: I bought this curling iron after approximately 85 million influencers told me on Instagram that I needed it. I really love it and think it deserves the hype. It heats up quickly, it doesn’t singe or burn my hair, the curls are smooth and soft. When we were in Germany, Erika had forgotten to pack her curling iron so she borrowed mine. After one use, she ordered her one to have at home too. It’s that good.
Tips and tricks: Sometimes I use hair spray at the very end and then other times, I’ll spray each section lightly after I curl it and then brush through it all at the end. I think brushing the curls out is the key.
Here is my current go-to shampoo, conditioner and hair oil. You guys, this is the best smelling stuff you’ll ever put in your hair.
I swap out my shampoo/conditioner combo pretty regularly and was on the hunt for a new one that was hydrating yet not too heavy. This is it! It is just FABULOUS!!!! I love it!
So, that wraps up my hair 🙂 . Do you use and love any of these products too?! Do you always wash your hair? Do you always dry it? Inquiring minds want to know!
Happy Thursday to YOU! I’ll see you tomorrow! xx
And bonus, here’s a little scroll and look of each item too:

I love these posts that add a little extra to our daily routine. I have to say, your recommendation of that Drybar hairspray in the parfum blanc scent is my very favorite!! I just throw it on sometimes for the scent alone. I was going to ask you if you have an oil that smells as good. I’ll have to check this one out!

I’ve been looking for some new hair products so I’m super excited about this post! Also I’m dying at that hair meme. Every time I’ve been at the salon, my husband tells me how amazing my hair looks, and I quickly reply, “don’t get too excited. It won’t looks this good again until I go back!” 😂

Omg Shay – I am literally LOL at the pics you’ve posted – So TRUE! I needed this today, thank you for both – the hair help products and the laughs!! 😀

I am 55 and have never colored my hair so it’s pretty healthy, long (down to about my bra strap) but thin. In January when Ulta has their big jumbo shampoo and conditioner sale, I buy my products for the year. Since I only wash my hair about every 10-14 days (my husband promises me it does not smell bad) I don’t mind spending extra for shampoo. I use Joico Joifull shampoo and conditioner; the jumbo shampoo will last me about a year and a half, the conditioner about 2 1/2 years; not bad for $45. The Quai hair oil smells amazing, Sebastian Thickify foam is good for volume and Bumble and Bumble texture spray is good starting about day 5. My curling iron, a 1 1/2 inch barrel, is great for long beachy waves. It is so old and probably costs less than $40 but the thing will not die and my financial planner husband will not let me replace it until it does 🙂 I try and curl my hair every other day but I walk every morning and it’s too cold without a hat so it has to get fluffed up somehow. I like that hair waver and the price is decent. With three teenage girls someone is bound to like it if it doesn’t work for me.
It’s funny that I like seeing how other people do things but rarely make any changes to my routine. When I run out of the Quai hair oil that prickly pear sounds lovely.

Sandi, I am impressed by every single detail here. I love that your hair has never been colored, the length and HOLY COW, how fabulous that you can go that long between washes. I am so impressed!

If I go two days without washing my hair, my hair/scalp starts to hurt. Seriously. What I would give for even a 3 day window!!!

Any chance you could convince Amy to show us how she uses the waver??

I can always ask!
