Happy Groundhogs Day, friends! I’m partnering with Vuori Clothing and ShopStyle Collective and talking all things new year, new perspective as we step into February.
You all know, WE LOVE VUORI!! Andrew and I both wear something from them just about every single day. It’s our go-to for comfortable yet stylish everyday wear. I can workout or head to work and know that I look put together and will stay comfy all day long. As we welcome February, what better time to reflect and hit reset on your routines and workout wardrobe essentials?
For me and my role as a travel agent, this is without a doubt, our busiest time of the year…
…this is one hundred percent me most days in my office. After a workout, shower and dropping kiddos off at school, I’m comfy, cozy and cute in Vuori as I sit at my desk and plan vacations. On my big calendar that hangs next to my desk, I always write down a motto/intention/thought for the year so that I can keep it front and center as I go about my day. In 2022, that phrase was “It’s okay to be busy, just don’t be in a hurry”. I read that one day and loved it so much. I love to be busy. I thrive on it. Being in a hurry though is different, and I don’t want to feel hurried and live a hectic life because I am in a rush. I looked at that sentence SO MANY TIMES last year and reminded myself to slow down. This year, I wasn’t sure what my new motto would be until I heard our pastor say in a sermon a few weeks ago “embrace the new reality” and bam, that one hit me.
Of course, I’ll keep some things private, but a few new realities that I need to embrace:
1. My longer working hours/less free time that I used to be accustomed to enjoying.
2. That I only have one grandparent left.
3. I have teenagers now. Plural. Life is very different.
4. My ‘baby’ is going to be nine. I’m moving away from something I truly loved and into a new chapter that feels, at times, foreign.
5. I have to wear glasses now when I drive at night.
6. I need to rely on others at work and stop micromanaging.
Listen, the list is L-O-N-G, but I’ll spare you the rest. When Vuori reached out and said this winter, they’re focusing on a clean slate for the new year, I was like “I’m all in!”. Let’s be real, as I’m embracing my new reality, I’m wearing Vuori 😉 .
Let’s be real, it might be a whole new year, but I’m still wearing…
…my PERFORMANCE JOGGERS 🙂 . These joggers were the very first Vuori purchase I ever made and they continue, YEARS LATER, to be a staple in my daily wardrobe. I’m wearing them with my Halo Insulated Jacket, which is almost sold out, but you know how much I love my Cozy Sherpa Jacket (adore it!), and it’s in stock!!
I have gushed about these joggers a million times, but will gush some more. They are the softest, comfiest, most flattering joggers you will ever put on. They come in a wide variety of colors and always run TTS. They don’t shrink in the dryer. They don’t fade. They’re perfection.
From my early morning yoga…
…in my Clean Elevation Leggings and Elevation Plyo Tank…
…to adding on a jacket and heading off…
…to school to see my littlest love receive an award…
…I exercise, live, play and work in Vuori. How cute are the Utility Sherpa Jacket and my Daily Leggings?!
Plus, how adorable are these Wide Leg Sweatpants?! So cute!! It pairs perfectly with the Sedona Half Zip!
I clearly cannot say enough nice things about Vuori! If you’re looking for comfy (and cute!) clothes that will wash, dry and wear well PLUS make you look pulled together and not just in activewear, this is for YOU!! Everything we have tried has always run TTS and comes in a variety of colors.
As I’ve said before, I was gushing about Vuori so much that…
…we both wear it every day!
He loves his Sunday Performance Joggers and Coronado Hoodie!
He would tell you that Vuori is his very favorite brand!
Not just his…
…but his own dad, my dad and my brother all wear it too! (How cute is my father-in-law?!)
The Echo Insulated Jacket is his go-to with fall/winter weather. It pairs perfectly with his Tech Chino Pants! Both went with us to Nantucket and Paris! Andrew is 6’5″ and loves how these pieces fit taller guys like himself. The cozy sherpa jacket is great for weekday wear and also early morning sports on the weekend as are Andrew’s favorite Ripstop Traveler Joggers.
Every piece of Vuori clothing is designed with movement in mind, but doesn’t look or feel like it. It’s so incredibly comfortable that you will want to wear it all the time.
New year, new perspective. Do you have one? Are you embracing any new realities that you want to share? Or do you have a motto that you’ve been focusing on so far this year?! I would LOVE to know!
I’m so thankful for this community! See you tomorrow! xx

Love this and can relate so much! On one of my Peloton runs, the instructor said he loves being a novice at something because there’s so much room for growth, so much room to learn and change. It really is such a mindset! I don’t have to do this, I get to do this. I’m new at this, this feels uncomfortable, but there’s so much room for growth now, so much more knowledge! You’re still that same you, but with more experience, insight. I also lost my dad this past year, my youngest is in school full days, I’m pursuing a new career…some changes I wouldn’t have chose, but God uses each and every thing to make us better!
Mix and Match Mama says
Nicole, I always look so forward to your comments, but this one here might just be my favorite to date. xx
CaCinda says
I’m new to commenting, but I couldn’t resist! This is beautiful!

Good morning Shay. I now have 3 teenagers and on Smiths bday my youngest turned 9 so I am right there with you. I miss the days of small kids so much. I am Working full time and being in the hardest season of parenting I have ever had has led me to feel sad. I have changed my way of thinking and really tried to flip the scripts. I heard the term “romanticize your life”. I just try and think of the fun and positive in every single hard. Those young years are magical. Pulling out the joy and magical part of the teen years is my new reality.
Mix and Match Mama says
Sending you so much love, Amanda!! xx

During my prayer time, the word intention was in the forefront. I’ve decided I need to be intentional in many areas of my life…what I say, what I purchase, what I watch, read or spend my time doing… the list goes on. None of us knows when the Lord will take us home and I don’t want to waste time here on so much that has little value in the end. I want to be grateful for the gift of ordinary days and see the blessings along the way instead of blazing through to the next chapter.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Gail, amen to this!
Laura says
Mic drop. What a great phrase for this year!! Thank you so much for sharing that phrase and your honest reasons for it. Shew. I’m changing up my kids’ room right now and it’s hitting hard – they’re aren’t littles anymore. And it breaks my heart to tell the truth. Those cookies look great BTW! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
When my pastor said it, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I can refuse to acknowledge it or lean in.
Dana P says
I remember when you first wore those Vuori joggers and I thought they were the cutest. Now they’re one of my favorite things to wear, too!! And I hear you on changing seasons and learning to embrace those changes. Our oldest is getting MARRIED in May and our youngest will turn 9, too!
Sheaffer says
Everybody needs to try the performance joggers….. and the utility sherpa is one of my personal favorite purchases last year. I wear it alllllllllll the time!
Terry says
I love the top you have on with the wide leg sweatpants. Is it Vuori too?
Mix and Match Mama says
It is!!! I can add the link now!
Becky Keyser says
My saying when my kids were younger and sometimes challenging was “Focus on the Positives, before you know it they will be gone.” Now my youngest is a Freshman in college and it has been hard! So I just wrote down your saying!! “Embrace the New Reality.” Perfect!
Mix and Match Mama says
Sending you so much love, Becky. xx

My motto this year came from my company’s CEO as we navigated joining a larger healthcare system and there was ALOT of uncertainty and growing pains, but I think this can apply to life in general:
Keep fighting for the good.
Keep showing up.
Keep loving.
Keep giving back.
Keep being brave.
Keep caring.
Keep trying new things.
Keep showing grace.
Keep on.
The world needs you to believe in the good.
Mix and Match Mama says
This. This is so powerful.
Sarah Madsen says
This year, instead of choosing a word to focus on, I had three speak to my heart.
Brave- Be brave and follow Jesus. He is calling you in whatever direction and there is a reason for that. Lean in, His plans are greater than your own.
Consistency- How you do something, is how you do everything. That goes for your morning routine, pushing yourself at the gym, doing more at work, being a friend and intentionally setting up time to be with friends and family, etc.
Celebrate- Life is worth celebrating! Don’t get so caught up in the “days” but find something you are grateful for and celebrate it, big or small! Romanticize your life, because life is what you make it!
Little changes bring big impact, 2023- I am ready for ya!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Yes, yes, yes! Thank you for sharing, Sarah!!

Can I ask what is Andrew’s regular inseam in dress pants (not athletic wear)? My son is also 6’5” & these pants would be laughably short on him with their 30.5” inseam. My son wears a 36” inseam in regular pants. I keep looking at the Vuori pants & joggers for my son (because they fit Andrew), but they are just not long enough. 🙁 I’m wondering if my son has longer legs & a shorter torso compared to Andrew.
Mix and Match Mama says
I just texted him and this is what his reply was “No clue. I normally wear a 34 length pants if that helps”. Ha! I hope it helps! xx
Ann says
Ha, this was my thought too. My husband is 6’6” so I just went to look at these pants for him. There is one style in long length but even that is 35”, compared to the 36” he needs. We are going cycling as a family this morning and he has shorts on, even although it’s 40F, since he can’t find active wear pants to fit!
Beth Valenta says
Love, love, love to erase and get a clean slate. My intentional word is Strength. Be strong mentally, spritually and physically. Some days I am stronger than others, but small steps are ok too. I never used to forgive myself for not finishing or adding too much to my plate. I now relish a weekend to just be present. Side note…Vuori joggers are life changing! It is my afterschool outfit every day, thanks to you.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!!! Oh Beth, this one gave me chills! Thank you for sharing!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
Well, I began this year thinking “Patience” would be my word and now over 30 days into the new year, I have learned how NOT patient I am which tells me how I am not trusting in God and His plan–I want it done my way and on my time frame haha! This whole sitting and waiting and practicing patience the last week has been the hardest–but as Jess Sims says, “I can do hard things!” and I try to repeat that to myself
Mix and Match Mama says
Girl, you’ve already had such an epic start to your year!! I hope you make it home soon 🙂 .
Christi says
Mine is “more Jesus, less me.” This will be lifelong 😂
Where is your phone case from?
Mix and Match Mama says
That would is a LIFE LONG MOTTO! Yes, yes, yes! And it’s from Amazon 🙂 .
Rachel says
I needed to read this today! I have a 1 week old baby and a 21 month old and gone are the days that seemed “easier”. Recovering from a csection with a toddler who is a mommy’s girl is no joke haha! I feel blessed and privileged The Lord chose me to be their mother and I’m encouraged to embrace this new reality of 2 under 2. Thank you for sharing!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh mama, enjoy this season!!! It’s crazy, crazy, crazy but you won’t get it back. I should apply the same thought to my own season I’m in too. xx
Amanda says
I thought Athleta was your everyday brand. I love both just was confused which you wore each day
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I make no bones about it, Athleta is my favorite brand EVER. Andrew would say that Vuori is his favorite brand ever. I totally love Athleta and wear it every day for working out in some capacity (maybe not head to toe), but I also wear a piece of Vuori every day too. Athleta leans more athleticwear where Vuori leans more “every day wear”. They’re the perfect combination.
Jeanine says
I’m sure you realize that you’re very blessed, but wow, how wonderful that you still have a grandparent at 40! I only ever knew one grandparent, and she died when I was 22. You have definitely hit the jackpot when it comes to family.
Mix and Match Mama says
Didn’t I though?! Andrew hasn’t had a grandparent since he was much younger. I feel very fortunate.
Natalie says
I was thinking the same thing! I only knew my 2 grandmothers and lost both by 26 and then lost both parents by 38. My niece and nephew are 9 and 12 and also have lost all of their grandparents. It’s a blessing for you, Shay, that you have had grandparents for so many years and they all seemed to be in such great health until their passing. ❤️
Lisa D says
I love all of this today…. your post and the terrific comments.
I have chosen two words for the year — “intentional” and “kindness”. I have so much growing and learning to do!
I cherish time with our precious grandchildren and I’m on my knees praying for my adult kids. This season of my life with aging parents, adult kids with adult-size issues, and young grands who are growing up with all the stuff going on in the world…. it’s overwhelming to me at times. I am so thankful for intentional time with Jesus every morning! God is good, all the time. In the good times, trust. In the hard times, keep trusting.
Elizabeth says
My oldest has her first boyfriend, a 4.0, and is graduating high school in May. My son is one year behind her – he just got his driver’s license and a pick-up truck. He can deadlift 545 pounds and will graduate next year. I’ve been a single mom to them since they were babies, with virtually no contact from their dad in the last 6 years or so. I’m so proud of who they are and the full and complete family we’ve built, and of keeping my career practicing law going this whole time, but I can’t believe this part is done!! I’m easing into the new realities by focusing on all that is good in this new season. Both of them are healthy. They are good drivers. They take care of our animals and their grandparents and cousins. They bring their friends over and hang out at home – we laugh together. We have dinner together most nights. They are good students and are excited about college. To quote Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Ashley says
Oh, I love that phrase about not being in a hurry! I do not handle being in a hurry well, haha. Like you, I do enjoy being busy, feeling productive and getting things done. I haven’t heard of this brand before, but all of your pieces, especially those joggers, look so nice and love that they are so comfortable!
Hope you have a wonderful week, Shay! 🙂
