Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
I hope you are all having a great day! I wrote this post on my flight home from Fort Lauderdale on Monday because today (Tuesday!) I am sitting in the hospital waiting room while my hubby finally gets his spinal fusion 🙂 . This has been twenty years in the making, and everyone who knows Andrew knows this day has been circled and starred on the calendar for a while now. He is so so so ready. I’m going to exit my computer now and let you finish reading the post. When you get down to “what I read” you’ll understand more clearly why I’m in the waiting room today.
On the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Here we go…
I am legit eating this on everything!
I shared this Trader Joe’s find with you on my latest haul, but since I’m currently trying to add more fermented foods to my routine, this sauerkraut is a super easy way…
…I especially love it on the side of my scramble for lunch 🙂 .
Well my amazing weekend cruise with my team, of course!
We just had the BEST time on our three night Bahamian cruise. These ladies work SO HARD and do such an amazing job, and it’s always such an honor to celebrate them.
We were missing two this trip (one is moments away from having a baby!) while the other is getting her oldest settled into college and starting a new chapter in her own family’s life.
As you know…
…we LOVE cruising at Mix and Match Travel Agency, and this short little itinerary was a super easy and fun way to do a girls trip. We saw SO MANY bachelorette parties and other girl groups on this particular sailing as well. It was such a good fit for us!
Whether you want to travel by land (oh my goodness, we loved our day in Baha Mar!) or by sea…
…we’d love to help!
If you are one of the Mix and Match Travel Agency’s clients, THANK YOU! We are so grateful for you and absolutely love planning your vacations. We are back in the office this week, so please reach out to us today if you’re ready to TRAVEL!
Look what I bought myself…
…a BOSU BALL!! I loved using these when I would attend classes at the gym, so I decided to buy one for our home gym.
I have found so many easy strength training moves to use incorporating my Bosu Ball on Pinterest, but honestly, even just standing on it while I do bicep curls or overhead tricep presses works my flexibility and core strength while also building my arm muscles. I have been standing on it and bouncing on it for over a week now 🙂 .
Well, THIS!
Also…
…I am literally excited about everything right now.
My AUGUST BOOK REVIEW will be out soon! I did not read the new Aaron Rodger’s biography this month, but my brother sent me a photo and now, I’m thinking I probably should…
…isn’t that funny that he’s in the book?! Those “brutal hits” are what landed him with a spinal fusion twenty years later. Sigh.
Listening on the flight while I type today 🙂 .
I just came off a cruise where I was back in “summer” clothes, but if you missed this from Friday…
HOW CUTE ARE THESE TEES?!
From left to right, here are these specific tees: FALL TEE// APPLE CIDER TEE// FOOTBALL TEE// HALLOWEEN TEE
All of these tees are from Target and each one comes in a variety of colors too!
What goes great with fall tees? Jeans please! I did a little haul…
This is a classic straight ankle pair that works really well with my SNEAKERS. I love this color wash for fall and winter.
FYI, I paired all of my jeans today with THIS TOP that I’ve had for years! It comes in so many different colors and always works well as a “transitional from summer to fall” top.
This is a pair of frayed hem straight leg that I really loved with a heel (or heeled bootie). I put these shoes on just to show you the difference between wearing these jeans with a heel or…
…my sneakers.
Another pair of jeans with a fun hem!
Super cute with a heel…
…or a sneaker 🙂 .
I really love this pair of cropped distressed mom jeans!
And last but not least, these midrise cuffed skinny jeans 🙂 .
Well, my kids are all home for an extra long weekend plus my hubby will be home recovering…so a whole lot of that.
LITERALLY EVERYTHING!!!
It’s almost my favorite day of the year 😉 !
Okay friends, that wraps up this month’s What’s Up Wednesday! Don’t forget, if you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up below. I hope you have a wonderful day! I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

Dear Father God,
Maker of heaven and earth, the source of all healing,
We thank you for the role of doctors, nurses and surgeons who will be working a miracle on Your behalf for Andrew Shull. Thank you for the blessing of their knowledge and understanding.
And for the breakthroughs in medicine.
Lord, may you oversee each area of the surgery,
every single detail and protect and keep her intact.
May Andrew dwell in your love, hope and strength always.
Fill his heart with faith.
Be near him in times of weakness and pain as he looks forward to a full recovery and functional body!
Sustain him by Your grace that his strength and courage may not fail.
Heal him according to Your will.
We ask this is Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Just need to know if Andrew brought out all of your Fall decor boxes from storage before surgery lol But seriously hope he has a smooth and complete recovery! Very impressed with his mention in the book.
Mix and Match Mama says
HE DID!!!!! Isn’t he the sweetest?!
Kristin says
My first thought was to pray for Andrew. My second thought was who is going to help Shay get all the decorations from storage on September 1st.
Mix and Match Mama says
Bless him, he pulled them all out and brought them home to me on Monday. He also set the concrete jack-o-lanterns out for me too. I have a winner 🙂 .
Grace says
Hey Shay same here with the sauerkraut. I get mine from Costco-Wildbrine Raw Organic Sauerkraut. I love it as well too! I hope Andrew is recovering well and it’s pretty neat that he made it to the Aaron Rodgers book!
Deb says
I hope Andrew is on the mend! Love your cruise attire

Your trip looks like it was SO much fun!! Welcome back =)
Bosu – I severely sprained my ankle on MDW (great way to start the summer LOL) and in PT they had me doing squats on the bosu upside down. So you’re standing on the flat black base. Highly recommend trying them! Such a great exercise.
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you!!!

I have had 4 spinal fusions and a crevial fusion as well. Best advice? Stay on top of the pain meds for at least the first week. Do all PT and wear your brace. If you do the exact things they tell him, he’ll be up and around in no time. He is young and healthy and he will end up asking himself why on earth he didn’t do it sooner. Best to Andrew. If he has ??, email me.

The Wildbrine sauerkraut tub at Costco is more economical than Trader Joes.
Diana says
Prayers for Andrew! I had a neck fusion in December and feel so much better, but it takes time to recover! Prayers for a more speedy recovery for him! I bet he will wonder why he did not do it sooner. God Bless him!

I LOVE that you reward your team with trips… a cruise sounds so relaxing!!!! Trips are a great way to bless your employees!!!! A few years ago, my hubby was blessed by his company with a vacation to the Titans/Yellowstone. We took our two boys and had the best time! It still is one of our favorite family vacations!!! There is just something special about your boss rewarding you and gifting you with a wonderful vacation…. kudos to you Boss Mama for doing this for your gals!!
Prayers for Andrew to recover well and feel great again!!

Wishing Andrew a speedy & easy recovery. My daughter had a spinal fusion 3 weeks ago, removed discs 2,3,4 went thru the back and then screws & cadeaver parts. She has been in so much pain. I made shirts for us that say” SCREWED UP Spinal Fusion Survivor. Mine says mom of spinal fusion survivor. It’s a tough surgery.
Lisa K. says
I was just searching on Amazon & Etsy for fall t-shirts and didn’t find anything I loved. Yay Target! Thanks Shay!!

Sending all the best to Andrew for a smooth recovery!

Wishing Andrew a speedy recovery. Ive had 2 cervical spine fusions with plate & rods & a lumbar spine fusion. It’ll take a bit to recover. You all are in my prayers.
Jessica Shobe says
I wish Andrew a speedy recovery. My second thought was, who is helping Shay with the fall decor!
Quick tip I learned to get more protein. I add a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese to my eggs when I scramble them. I don’t normally like cottage cheese, but you can’t even tell it’s there. It just makes the eggs more fluffy and creamy while adding 6g mote protein.
Ellen says
Yikes, spinal fusion is tough! I hope it sets him up for many many years without pain!
Amy D. says
Praying that Andrew’s surgery was successful and that he has a very smooth and as pain free recovery as possible.
I was going to read the Aaron Rodger’s book but it’s not authorized by him so I’m not going to.
Sarah DeWald says
Sending Andrew healing prayers and a quick recovery!
Yay for fall shirts too! 🙂
Heather says
Prayers to Andrew (and you as his care taker) for a speedy and full recovery. I hope he doesn’t have to miss out on all the fall fun y’all always have!
Andrea says
Praying for a quick recovery time for Andrew and his nurse!🤣 Off topic question, are you still doing dip nails and how often are you going in? I started having a reaction to gel manicures so I have been painting them myself, and it is a FOOL’s GAME!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am!! I go in about every 2-3 weeks. I love them!!
Patt says
I was in pain for years and finally got my spinal fusion surgery in December of 22. Why did I put it off so long? I have heard horror stories, that’s why. I had an excellent surgeon and could tell the difference when I woke up from surgery. I am so grateful to feel great again, but my doctor stressed I was to do no bending, lifting more than 5 lbs, or twisting for 4 solid months. I think that is key to my successful recovery. It was hard, but my husband was a wonderful help, and those grabbers/reachers were essential. I got very creative with them. Praying for Andrew and wishing him the best.
Deena says
I saw Andrew’s post from the hospital where he told his story about what the doctor told him 20 years ago. Clearly he made the right choice so he could pick up all of your babies along the way. Sending prayers that his recovery goes smoothly. My husband is getting a hip replacement next week so I showed him the video of Andrew with his walker and compression socks. Trying to get prepped with meal plans, anything that’s easier for him to do around the house ahead of time (grown up sons will be helping out also), and having some granddaughter time while he can still lift.
Your getaway with the girls looked so fun!

Glad you had a fun time on your cruise! I hope Andrew’s surgery went well! Those fall tees are super cute, I might have to make a Target run.
