I’m partnering with Nordstrom and Collective Voice today and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS (just in time for their limited sale now through the First!)!
SWEATERS + SLIPPERS + PUMPKINS + KIDDOS + and more today!
You guys, I’ve partnered with Nordstrom now for YEARS because, especially heading into the busy holiday season, they have everything my family needs from beauty to shoes to home, clothes, bath and more, but they have impeccable service, free shipping, free returns, and curbside pick up (all so handy for the busy lady!). You can catch all of their services (including alterations, gift wrapping, style help and more HERE!).
I saw this quote on Pinterest this week, and it spoke right to my mama heart…
…I don’t know who out there (besides me) needs to hear this, but y’all…being a mom is hard work. I hope you’re all giving yourself grace because I know in my heart of hearts, we’re all trying our hardest, but geez, it can be hard.
Alrighty, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and wishing you a wonderful Friday!
Well, I found my new favorite outfit and now, I just need a long flight to wear it on because it’s PERFECTION for many things, but it will be gold for air travel…
Yup. Kensington said “I like your fit” which in teenage terms means she liked it. She also said “Can I wear your shoes tomorrow?”. That is all true. I have worn this outfit THREE TIMES over the last two weeks because it’s comfy, pulled together and goes from errands to dog walking to picking up kids from school (but I’m telling you, it’s what I love to wear most on flights!). Both the JOGGERS and the TOP come in other color options too!
I untucked the TANK so you could see the length as well. So, Kensington insisted that one wears the TASMAN SLIPPERS outside of the house.
Who am I to argue with people that like my “fit”? Coffee, pumpkins, Tasman, check!
Last year, I tried for about two months to buy these, but they were always out of stock. Right now, they’re in stock and available in multiple colors too!
I don’t take for granted that I have one kiddo who will still happily do these things. This was a “favorite” of mine this week as was…
…the rain! Two rainy days?! Yes, please!
On Monday, it was just Smith and me at home since his school had teacher in service. This kid…he’s a mess, but I love him so much.
And while Andrew was on Nantucket, we had a “sleepover” and watched Dancing with the Stars. It has been a super sweet week.
Speaking of sweet…
Just a little September “tops” round up for you. Don’t forget about…
…THIS SWEATER is so soft and runs TTS. I bought it in an xs.
It comes in two other neutral colors, but this brown just screamed “Fall Girl” to me.
A SANDWASH DOLMAN TEE? Yes, please! It comes in a variety of other colors too.
Again, another pic so you can see the length with my JEANS (currently 25% off, I did size down to a 25, so you might consider if you’re in between!).
And once again, MY JEANS with WAFFLE KNIT TOP (also in so many other color choices!).
Yesterday, I shared my Tonal Review and…
…many of you like MY TOP…and I do too! It comes in other colors as well.
Since we’re chatting Nordstrom, don’t forget…
…my PAJAMAS which are on sale! This super soft set comes in 10 different prints and patterns and run TTS.
My ASICS are on sale right now as is my ZELLA STUDIO LEGGINGS in so many of the 10 colors they come in!
I just LOVE receiving emails like this one…
…YAY!!!! If you haven’t tried my SLOW COOKER APPLE BUTTER now is the time!
Want to know what it would be great on? These…
Your weekend needs these muffins 🙂 .
That wraps up this week’s Friday Faves! I’ll see you back here tomorrow for a bonus Saturday blog post! xx

I really needed to read that quote today. It’s been a really intense year & I just try everyday to be the best mom I can be. Xoxox
Susan Jeffries says
I love that you style some of your outfits with slippers! I work from home a lot so slippers are my go to! I added a pair of the Tasman slippers to my cart for both my daughter and myself for Christmas!

I LOVE that acid wash sweater. I’m showing it today too. It’s such a great price and literally like the perfect fall sweater.
Lori S H says
Such cute pjs! I’m ready for all the fall cozies. Where is your Apple Watch band from? I love the color and perforated design!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s CRAZY inexpensive!! I made it a Friday Fave two weeks ago! https://mixandmatchmama.com/2024/09/shays-friday-faves-09-13-24/

Thank you so much!
Amanda Wilson says
I needed to hear/read that. I am in the thick of parenting teens and it’s no word of a lie the hardest thing I have done. It’s so much work and just so exhausting on every level. I was the the baby mom in the music classes and baby and me workouts. I was the toddler mom helping in preschool and meeting for coffee dates. I was the kid mom doing allllll the fun things But still having bed times and cuddly Friday nights and baking together. I find being a teen mom so isolating. Rules between my parents friends are so different. I am ALWAYS in the car alone. I am exhausted being up late when they need to talk….shooing them to bed….taking phones….picking up from work or practices….and up early to get myself to work. I feel like I don’t have the energy for the first time in my life to be social but I also know I need that to….The little kids after an exhausting day will snuggle you and love on you. After and exhausting day now I get arguments and doors shut and tears…on both ends sometimes. I swear I have to say no more times in a day then I did to my toddlers!!!! They make me second guess so much as I am always hearing how unfair I am and how mean and awful. I’m sorry clearly I needed to vent and was in all the feels today. Have a great weekend Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am SO HAPPY you vented!! I feel every single thing you said. Having toddlers and infants had its challenging moments, but raising teens has been significantly harder. You don’t just have to worry about/think about your kids, but you have to worry and think about everyone else’s kids too because they have such a profound affect on your own children. It’s hard. I am right where you are and feel this as well. xx
Kristen says
I am in same boat. I think it is super hard to parent this age and what makes it more difficult is friends having different rules!!
sandi says
Everything you verbalized, I have felt too, it means you are a great mom who CARES! A big issue with us as well was parents that had zero boundaries or rules and it seemed their kids could do whatever they wanted. My kids are probably a little older than yours and they are just now getting to the point where they realize the decisions we made we not always easy, but in their best interests. Being a kid these days is hard too. Hugs and prayers to you!
Tina says
I feel this on a deep level. I’ve managed (somehow!) to get two of my kids to adulthood (23 and 27) but still have two teens (15 and 17) at home. It has been an exhausting journey and I find myself ready to be done! I find I cook for these younger two way less and am just more tired overall. I mean, I am older now (52) than I was when the older ones were going through all of this so I try and cut myself some slack. But, yeah, no one warned me how challenging teens and young adults would be. There are times where I literally have nothing left to give and would love to go back, for just a day, of littles who want to snuggle with me even if the day has been hard. I read about teens who are like super sweet to their moms and they love on their moms and say nice things about them and TO them…yeah, that’s not been my experience. Just getting a “hey mom, thanks for the things you do for me”, would be amazing.
Amanda says
Yes all of this. Thank you for sharing, it’s nice to know I am not alone. Those moms with the sweet best friend teens….ugh how??!!! I honestly never have second guessed myself more then raiding teens/young adults.
Natalie Alvarado says
Being a mom is hard, but such a privilege too! ❤️ I love the jeans. I’m short and the length looks like it might work for me. How do they run? What size are you in those?
Mix and Match Mama says
I am wearing them in a 25 (I typically buy a 26). Great question! I should have put that in the post. I’ll add it now.
Angela says
I love the Tasman slippers!!! I just got the light sand w/ cherry trim colored ones last night from the family for my birthday!!🥳 Do you spray your UGG slippers with a protectant since K says they’re to be worn outside? I wasn’t sure if I should do this or not. And thanks for the tip K!
Love all the fall tops, too!! Have a great weekend Shay!!🥰
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not spray my Uggs, and I feel they weather pretty well.
Cathy says
Purchased the brown sweater. Love it!! I also loved your pumpkin/squash coffee mug from your instagram stories yesterday. Will you please share a link or where it was purchased? Thank you!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I love it too! I bought it at Anthropologie last year (or maybe even two years ago?). They typically have really cute seasonal mugs!
Cathy says
I thought that’s where you might have gotten it Thank you!
Grace says
My mom just bought me those ASICS for my birthday! Never used ASICS before; I hope they’re good for running! I always love your Friday Favorites!
Marisa Patel says
Definitely going to make the apple butter and muffins, I know my grandbaby will LOVE them!
Debbie says
Can’t agree enough about Nordstrom! It’s my favorite department store, and I live 3 hours from the closest one! That doesn’t stop me from shopping online.🤪 Their customer service is the best. I need new Ugg slippers and will check out the Tasman ones.
Michelle Etheridge says
I want to try that slow cooker apple butter! Perfect thing to share with friends!
Melanie says
Your posts just make me smile! Thank you!
Kerry says
I think we all forget to give ourselves grace when we are in the thick of raising kids. What a great reminder!
K.K. says
Yay for Fridays!! Hope it’s a wonderful weekend, Shay!
Carrie says
Thank you for sharing the mom quote! I’m near tears this week. We are all in this together! XO
Mix and Match Mama says
Me and you both!!! Sending you so much love! xx
Karen says
Can you please comment on the sizing of the Uggs. I wear an 8.5 and don’t know if I should order an 8 or 9. Do they stretch out after time? Thank you Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
I wear an 8 (and so does Kensington) and so I bought an 8. Since they wrap around your foot though, I *think* if it were me and I was between sizes, I would size up.
Erika Slaughter says
Happy Friday! This was an extra fun dose of fall happy from fall clothes to fall food!
Andrea says
Nothing has felt truer or funnier to me regarding parenting teens than the clip I saw about it using the part in Jerry Maguire where he says, “you don’t know what its like to be me out here for you. It is an up at dawn, pride swallowing siege that I will never fully tell you about. Help me. Help me help you.”
Mix and Match Mama says
YES!!!! Yes, yes, yes!
Cathy Perez says
I love shopping at Nordstrom, been getting all kinds of goodies there for years!
Kathy says
Love all your Friday Favorites, and it was so cool to see my email and photo as #5!! The teenager years were definitely the hardest. Hang in there moms!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so grateful for YOU!!! Happy weekend! xx
Holly says
Teens, Tasmans and Pumpkin Muffins(you need a little comfort food to help with the Tas wearing teen)…. all go hand-in-hand!!! Have a great weekend!
Lindsey Schneider says
Have you ever tried water bath canning the apple butter so it can last all year round? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have with other jarred items, but I haven’t with the apple butter.
Kay says
Hi Shay – I’ve had that acid washed brown sweater in my cart since last time you showed it . . . I might have to get it today – it’s so cute on you!! Are you as sad as I am about the news Hoda is leaving the Today Show next year? I’ve teared up (I’m such a weirdo!) watching her and her co-anchors talk about it. She just seems like such a nice, genuine person and I know you’ve actually met her. Happy that she’ll be spending more time with family though.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am sad, but at the same time, I’m so excited for her and her girls. She is just a rock star, and I respect and admire her SO VERY MUCH!!
Kim Carberry says
That meme is so true, being a mom is hard work. We just try our best.
I love your comfy looking outfits and that is such a compliment from a teen saying they like your fit!
amy miller says
Hi Shay! Thanks for sharing all these fun finds! Can you tell me about the blanket on your bed in the pic of you and Madeley? It looks so soft and cozy! Happy Saturday!
Mix and Match Mama says
Pottery Barn 😉
Carla Keck says
Love the jeans! What size did you get in these? They all run so different!
Mix and Match Mama says
25!
Debbie says
so many good things in this post!! I love Fall. What color of the tasman ugg slippers did you get (antilope)?
Mix and Match Mama says
I should have specified! My color is chestnut.
Brittany says
Would you mind clarifying more on your “TTS?” Not shaming by any means but to be over 40 and an XXS is a bit… much? My twin teens weigh about 10O lbs, are 5’6, lanky with no boobs or booty and don’t even fit in an XXS, let alone XS in all these brands without it being skin tight. Like, this is not relatable nor believable and if you ARE the size of a 12 year old in real life, all these doctors you consistently see aren’t concerned about your weight and extremely small size?
Mix and Match Mama says
I mean, would you like to send me your phone number? I’d be happy to text you a screenshot of my purchases right off my (in this instance) Nordstrom app. Honestly, it sounds like you’re concerned, so I’d be happy to put your mind at ease. Unless noted, I buy a 2 or 26 in pants/skirts/jeans (other than Wit & Wisdom jeans where I buy a 0) and my tops are almost exclusively an xs. I do shop mostly at stores though for women, and I do imagine there is a discrepancy in sizes for stores that are for “girls”. Happy to help you take this one worry off your mind. xx
Jen says
Her comment made me LOL. I am a woman in my low 40s and I am 5’2 and I am your exact size, Shay in clothes. I am small/petite compared to most of my friends but those are definintely my sizes.
Mix and Match Mama says
Right? I mean, there is so much going on in the world right now but hey, let’s get all worked up over what size pants someone buys. I wish that was all I had to worry about. 😉
Katie Compton says
Your slow cooker apple butter recipe is the only one I use! It just has the best flavor and is so easy. It’s better than any scented candle, ha! Since we’re just a family of three I half your recipe and it’s the perfect amount for a jar for us an a jar to gift. In fact… it’s on the weekly menu for “brinner” tomorrow night!
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow!! I love reading that, Katie!! Thank you!
Amy B says
Never have I ever received a better compliment than when my teen son randomly told me I looked nice one day. 🙂
Looking forward to trying to make the apple butter!
