Well today’s Life Lately is being typed out by someone who just can’t quit grinning 🙂 .
It took us approximately five seconds to settle into our summer routine.
Tennis, golf, fishing, the beach…we have hit the ground (and the outdoors!) running!
Here’s a little look at life lately this week…
We were up early early on Monday morning in a 14-passenger van to take all seven of us plus three dogs from McKinney to DFW. It looks like Andrew and I are in some sort of dance club. Nope, just a big bus at 4:45 AM.
All three of these dogs have flown before, but this was the first time all three of these dogs have all flown together…and they did AMAZING! I was a very proud pup mom.
After we landed in Boston, we hopped on yet another big van…
…and drove to Hyannis to catch our ferry…
…we hopped on…
…settled in for the hour and made our way across…
It was one of the easiest crossings I’ve ever done. The weather was spectacular which made for a very smooth sailing.
Home sweet home!
We moved quickly and cleaned out drawers and closets and collected things to take to the donation center and unpacked and put the luggage away and then cleaned up for our traditional…
…”first night on the island” dinner at Seagrille.
It was a super special day from beginning to end!
On Tuesday morning…
…we launched into our summer routine! Quiet times with dogs followed by…
…a trip to the gym to lift weights. After that…
…I sat down and worked while the girls slept (Smith was already up and working out).
Kensington got up and made pancakes and while they bustled about…
…I took my work outside because it was GORGEOUS!
It was so gorgeous that we decided to head into town for lunch and a little stroll…
…I must have said the phrase “this weather is so gorgeous” at least 50 times.
They were all smiles after both getting a new book to read 🙂 .
On Wednesday morning, I LOVED my 30 for 30. I ran my favorite three miles on island and ended in the marina.
After my run, I walked…
…up Main to The Hub…
…one of my favorite places on this sleepy June morning…
…because my favorite guy was meeting me here for breakfast…
…coffee and breakfast sandwiches with my boy! Our first breakfast date of the season, and per usual, it was the absolute highlight of my day.
And that is a little life lately.
I am sharing one of our easiest and most favorite lunch or dinner recipes today as well. Make sure you check that out HERE!
Have the best best Thursday, friends! I’ll see you tomorrow. xx

Shay! Have you tried the Molton Brown Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel body wash, etc.? I got a small bottle for Mother’s Day and immediately thought “Shay needs this on Nantucket!!” <3 it's a UK brand

Looks relaxing…a little cooler than Texas?? 😆
Ok… Now I am curious what books the girls picked out!! Lol. Our local library kicks off summer reading program with a book sale from scholastic…so we will be heading there.
Enjoy!!

It looks like your summer vacation is off to a wonderful start. The weather looks absolutely gorgeous!! I cannot wait for our family trip there in July. We are counting down the days. Nantucket posts are always my favorite.
Dana P says
It looks so dreamy there!
A little side question-our house in Fort Worth flooded from a water filter under the kitchen sink whose top popped off overnight and our renters didn’t know it until they woke up the next morning to a big mess. Yikes. If only they had used those cute little water sensors we left. Ha! ANYWAY, it’s possible they might have to replace the countertops in the process of replacing the floors and cabinets. I love yours there in your Nantucket kitchen. What material do you recommend? Is that a certain color or name for the design? My husband assigned me the task of telling them what I want, but I don’t even know where to start! ohhh…do you have a blog post about anything like that? I’ll check!
Mix and Match Mama says
oh no! That’s terrible! Okay, the counter tops are “cashmere carrara” quartz made by MSI.

Love the idea of jogging along the water!! How fun. 🙂

Hi Shay,
My sister, daughter, and I are heading up to Nantucket from Atlanta in a couple of weeks for my 60th birthday celebration – we are so excited! My first time visiting the Island, and partly because of your blog and also the authors we read 🙂
do you recommend renting bikes or just walking and taking the public bus to get around the island? Thank you!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay! You will have the best time! I think you’ll be able to walk everywhere you need to be. Bike rentals are easy if there is a day you want to go out further, but walking will be the simplest option. Maybe I’ll run into you?!
Mary says
I hope so! I will be easy to spot – your twin from the jewelry, clothes, and shoes I have purchased because of you 🙂
Emma says
Looks like a great start to your time on Nantucket!! How do you handle sleeping arrangements between the kids and their friend?
Mix and Match Mama says
Friends this season are going to stay in the guest room and/or depending on how many we have at one time, we’ll split up between girls and boys in each space. We’re making it work!
Lisa says
So excited for more Nantucket posts!! Where’s pup #4?!
Mix and Match Mama says
She is living her very best life on her own vacation 🙂 . I blogged about it here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2025/06/how-to-get-to-nantucket/
Lisa says
Oh phewf. Sorry I missed that! I’m sure she’ll have the most relaxing summer. 🙂

So happy to be reading Nantucket posts again! I wanted you to know, because of all your posts and stories over the years, my mom and I took a trip to Nantucket last summer. We had the most magical time together and both agree it’s one of our favorite places we’ve ever been. We hit all the places you talk about, plus more. Thank you for inspiring a trip with my momma that I’ll always remember!

Your “littles” are growing up so fast and looks like they will meet your height in no time! All of your smiles cheered me up this morning and seeing your island home with all of its charm.
Megan Perkins says
Love all of your posts relating to/about Nantucket. As someone who has never been and didn’t know much about it, it seems so charming! I’m curious, how do your older kiddos feel about spending the summer so far from their routines/friends and how are they able to stay connected?
Mix and Match Mama says
Well we certainly wouldn’t do it if the whole family wasn’t on board. It’s not perfect, but it’s been a really big blessing for our family. They still stay connected with their friends. The summer before we made this decision one of the major factors was that my kids were pretty bored at home because their friends are all busy over the summer too doing so many things…and it’s so hot my kids can’t really be outside in Texas in the summer. That was certainly one of the motivating factors for us to make this summertime move.
Laura JeanS. says
