Last weekend, we were seen way up in Great Point!
I’ve shared this before, but I’ll share it again, Great Point is that tip top part of the island only accessible by driving over the sand with a second type of special beach permit. It’s a really cool spot to visit…
…I took a screenshot of me while I was up there so you could see exactly what I’m talking about.
We try to go a few times a summer season because it’s so peaceful and really pretty darn special.
When you drive out there, you first must stop off at this spot…
…where you check in, the guards check to make sure you have the correct pass and this is where you release your tire pressure and they check that your vehicle is good to go. I took a pic at the check point so you could see the “you are here” mark.
I sat in the backseat on our way out next to this cutie.
About 20ish minutes later and we were parked for the afternoon…
…I was a happy camper!
See? So few people out here. Nantucket on a weekend afternoon in July is INSANE “in town”…but not out here.
Great Point is not where one goes to swim. There are A LOT of sharks up here. It is where one would go to fish off the beach though…
…which is what this kid did all day…
…we’re pretty sure his first “bite” of the day was from a shark based on the force and how it snapped the steel tip right off the end of his pole, but the rest of his nibbles were big blue fish.
He was in his happy place…
…and the girls were too. Sandy toes and sunny days are our favorite ways to spend a weekend.
Okay, who has been here with me a long time? If you have then you know that I was excited to get…
…this is the mail back in Texas because that means that the very next edition is MY FAVORITE! I’ve said for years and years that once that September Southern Living hits my mailbox, fall has officially begun 😉 .
Just two people…
…who, if they were smart, would invest in some Toronto gear. Sigh.

This is my last SUMMER SATURDAY post of the season! Thank YOU all so so so so much for being here with me over these last two months! I just love spending my weekends with you. We will kick off the SEASONAL SATURDAY posts on Saturday, September 6th AND I’ve decided to continue our weekly giveaways all fall and holiday season long on Saturdays too. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of your weekend! I am so very blessed by it.

Looks like you had a gorgeous day, and there’s nothing like a beach all to yourselves! Our daughter and son in law own a home with a private beach in Florida and it’s heavenly! My question: are there any bathrooms nearby??? That was my first thought! If you can’t swim due to the sharks, and you spend all day there, surely someone has to go at some point…Yes, I’m giggling as I ask this question. 🤭

That is an excellent question! The beach has porta potty stations throughout. I mean…I try as hard as I can just to hold it.

I can’t wait for seasonal Saturdays! I predict tons of fall happiness. I thought the same thing when I got my Southern Living, and yes I broke down and bought a golden pumpkin candle. Funny how just one smell can take you to your happy place. Enjoy your ending time on Nantucket!

Shay…one of your best was driving along with you to Sconset. Perhaps you could do this with the rest of the island so we can see what it looks like? I am sitting here in the Washington DC heat missing New England. I’m from Boston originally and Rhode Island. I’m also missing a lobster roll and a good piece of strawberry rhubarb pie!

Thanks for showing the light and bright side of things. It looks like I’m facing a heavy diagnosis and looking at your sunny pics makes me smile. I enjoy the fall issue of southern living as well but for me fall begins on the first day back to school (for us that is in September)…Once the kids are at school I always grab a coffee and hit Hobby Lobby. I love soaking in all the fall colors and smells. Some years I bring something new home for the house other years I’m just a window shopper but either way I enjoy myself. I don’t know what this fall holds for me and whether I’ll be in a condition where I can just walk around Hobby Lobby but I’m hoping to keep at least one of my annual traditions.

Oooh did you you see where they caught a Great White off the coast of Nantucket recently? I know you are a different Southerner and don’t vacation on the Gulf where sharks are pretty typical. I was shocked to read they are up there but then again, tracks with Jaws. Haha!
