Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you’ve had the very best week.
There were so many things I loved this week, and one of them was FOR SURE spending time with YOU!
Thank you so much for being here with me every day.
Here’s a little nugget from my week. On Wednesday, I was home sitting in the kitchen eating my lunch when all of a sudden, my dogs started going CRAZY. I got up to see why they were going bananas and saw…

…that these two dogs had escaped their own backyard from the neighborhood and found themselves at my front door. My dogs sit there and look outside all day long just hoping for a friend to walk up and say hi. This was their lucky day 🙂 .
These two neighborhood dogs made it home, and my four dogs were extra hyper the rest of the day. I think they’re sitting down there right now just willing more dogs to walk up.
Alrighty, time to get to this week’s batch of Favorite Things.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and wishing you the best weekend!

Last Friday night was certainly a favorite around here.
It was the McKinney Boyd High School Cheer Banquet!

I cannot believe this girly has already finished up her third year of high school cheer. We only have one more year to go!
The “new” year begins in two weeks and based on what everyone keeps telling me, it is going to FLY by.

The theme of this year’s banquet was garden party, and I thought every detail was perfect. The senior moms did an AMAZING job making the night special for the team and their families.

Charcuterie in a cup? Yes, please!
It’s a Boyd tradition that at the banquet, the senior cheerleaders “pass the crown” down to the junior class…

…I remember seeing this tradition for the first time three years ago. It felt like three minutes ago.

One more year of cheer! Goodness, we are so so proud of this kiddo!
Speaking of cheer…

It was the final pep rally of the year for this squad of girls!
After tryouts, the new squad will perform together moving forward.

We are just SO proud of this entire team! They were recognized in this pep rally for winning State this year. We are all just so so proud!

On Wednesday, I reminded you that my DAILY MOISTURIZER with a drop of ETHEREAL GLOW SERUM (in bronze) is my new favorite combination, BUT I didn’t want you to forget that my all time VERY FAVORITE COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD PRODUCT will forever and ever be…

…the RADIANT CLEANSING BALM.
Period.
End of story.
It is the GOAT in my beauty cabinet.
This was the first Colleen Rothschild product I tried ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO (because my mama told me to!), and I have never looked back.
Now, not only does my mom still use it every day, but I use it and all three of my girls use it too!
It was just named the 2025 Allure Best of Beauty Award, and I couldn’t agree more.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again…when you use this to cleanse your face, not only does your face get clean, but all of your makeup comes off (even that stubborn waterproof eye makeup) without your skin feeling tight or dry. It melts away makeup, SPF, and impurities in one step, without stripping or drying skin.
The RADIANT CLEANSING BALM comes in three different sizes: JUMBO, STANDARD OR MINI (for travel!), and I have all three.

Don’t forget, you can always, always use code SHAY20 for 20% off any product at Colleen Rothschild too!
Whether you want to try their SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER (you will never go back to another brand!) or any of my other faves…

#1: SHEER RENEWAL CREAM: great for a daily moisturizer, works so well under makeup!
#2: VITAMIN C NOURISHING CREAM: I use this as my PM moisturizer (and on really dry days, I’ll wear it in the AM too!)
#3: GLYCOLIC ACID PEEL PAD: Gentle enough for every day use! This makes my skin feel extra extra clean.
#4: RETINOL SUPREME EYE SERUM: A wonderful under eye cream!
#5: RADIANT CLEANSING BALM: The GOAT! This is my very favorite product, and if I only bought one thing, this would be it. I use this every single day to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin. It never leaves my skin tight or dry. It’s hydrating and cleansing. Love.
#6: The only SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER the ladies in my family use! Once you use it, you’ll never go back to the other stuff again. These are hair changing products.
#7: MOISTURE VEIL SILK EMULSION: Another wonderful AM moisturizer! There is just a little bit of pearl to it which makes my skin look extra radiant and healthy before I even apply my makeup.
#8: AGE RENEWAL SUPER SERUM: packs a serious punch! I’ve used this serum for years and years at night under my moisturizer. It fights the six signs of aging: texture, dehydration, elasticity, fine lines, radiance, and tone.
#9: SMOOTH & SHINE HAIR SERUM: I add it to my hair when it’s wet, when it’s dry…either way, it gives my hair that extra oomph it needs to keep is smooth and shiny.
…you always get 20% off with code SHAY20!
Thank YOU, Colleen Rothschild! I always love collaborating with you!

Sunny days this week had me…

…in YELLOW! THIS SWEATER comes in other colors too (so many!), but the buttery yellow made me the happiest. It’s cotton, so it’s super soft and comfy. I thought it ran TTS (I bought xs).
SWEATER + JEANS + MULES for the weekday win!

The stitching on the side of the yellow one was extra cute!
I also wore…

…MY MULES again this week with THIS SWEATER and a tank underneath.

THIS SWEATER comes in a light blue too!
And just an FYI…

…THIS CARDIGAN is on sale now! I love it with MY MULES and THOSE DARLING JEANS (in “palms” wash) 🙂 .

I know we’ve already had TWO book posts this week…

…first up, we had FEBRUARY’S BOOK CLUB and then…

…we had my FEBRUARY BOOK REVIEW, but I have TWO other books that are Faves this week…

Thanks to blog reader Laura’s recommendation in the comment section of my All About My Cozy Reading Area post, I bought the book Joie and have absolutely LOVED it!

If you love the Francophile books like I do, this one absolutely should be in your cart. Not only is the content inspiring and motivating (she absolutely articulates the French joie d vivre), but the photos are stunning. This is a hardback book, and it would make an excellent gift for the Francophile in your life.

I’m not even finished with this book yet (I’m savoring it in small bites each morning with my coffee), and it’s already a Fave. Love, love.
I also bought German Home Kitchen this week too…

This cookbook is beautiful. It’s filled with all of my favorite German recipes…

…and little tidbits about their way of life. I have been in book heaven this week with both of my new finds.

You guys, my sweet marketing manager asked everyone at Mix and Match Travel Agency to find her a photo from when we were younger. I texted my mama and asked her if she could snap a photo of me on vacation as a kiddo.
She replied back with this gold…

…look at me!! I absolutely remember this, y’all! I was four years old and going on my very first flight. Sean was only two, and so he stayed behind with my dad’s parents while I went on this trip with my parents and my mom’s parents. I read that little book a million times before flying and took it on board with me. Do I look excited to be on a flight or what?!
But wait…

…my very first flight took me to Walt Disney World!
I KNOW!
This was FORTY YEARS AGO, and I am still the same girl who wants to go to Walt Disney World. And who loves to carry purses. 😉
(Side note: why doesn’t my grandmother age?!)

Me and Disney.
A combo that was always meant to be.
I also wanted to share this text thread between my mom and me…

…bahahahaha! After THE WAYS I’VE TURNED INTO MY PARENTS post, I thought I’d let you all know that there are apparently SOME things Sherry is sentimental about 🙂 .
And since I’m sharing “gold” today.
Wait for it.
Wait. For. It.
My mom also texted me this GOLD…

…is that Jay and Shay or is that Sean and Mia?!
I mean…WHOA.

And finally, if you’re needing one last cozy winter recipe for your weekend…

…you must try my STOVETOP CHICKEN POT PIE SOUP. It’s easy, it’s delicious, and it’s perfect for cozy winter nights.
Cheers to the weekend, friends!
I will see you back here on Sunday.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend in the meantime! xx

Erika Slaughter says
Whoa!!!! I never saw the Jay/Sean resemblance until that pic! I always thought Sean looked like your mom but I was wrong!
Nicole says
What a great post!!! Look how chic your mom and grandmother look at Disney. To bring a kiddo to Disney is one thing but to do it in heels!!!! They could be style icons.
Mix and Match Mama says
So fabulous, right?!
Leslie S says
I remember all the ladies dressing like that in the 70s – most even wore panty hose with shorts and sandals! Hahaha. Great throwback pics. Isn’t it fun to see the genetics play out through families?
Maggie says
I see Smith in that picture of you! So cute!
Sheaffer says
My mind is BLOWN! I cannot believe how much your dad looks like Sean in that picture! And you on the plane? PRECIOUS!
Kristin says
I saw Smith in that first photo of you, but holy cow to the last one. I had no idea Sean was your dad’s twin!
Kristen says
Wow , Smith is the spitting image of 4 yr old Shay and your Sean looks exactly like your dad. Bonkers how genetics work.
Mix and Match Mama says
Riiiiiiight?!
Diane says
Great post! TGIF!! 🙂 Just curious what size you got in the AF cardigan? It’s lovely.
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought it in xs!
Lisa D says
The shoes your Mom and Grandmother are wearing at Disney!
Love the old photos! So very precious.
Paula Hobbs says
Oh, so much sweetness in this post!! The cheer banquet is just beautiful!! It’s going to be such a sweet sweet year with your girl. Also, 4 year old Shay is Smith’s twin!! So cute!! I’ve also always thought Mia is 100% your mini me!!! Just pure sweetness in this post!
Ranisa Brletich says
Oh my goodness! That DisneyWorld pick with your mom and grandma….they have scrappy little kitten heals on?! Southern bells at their finest. 😍
Mix and Match Mama says
100%!
Pamela G says
I absolutely love the pictures of you when you were little. Your Grandmother wore heels to Disney should be an Olympic sport
Mix and Match Mama says
That is FUNNY!
Erin says
I can’t imagine wearing those shoes to Disney that your mom and grandma are wearing!
Mix and Match Mama says
I know! So fancy!
Amy says
Hi Shay! Happy Friday! I love your rug in your study 🙂 Would you please share where you got it?
Have a great weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s an oldie but a goodie, but I realllllllly think it’s from Pottery Barn. But it’s 12 years old.
SS says
Shay,
Sounds like tht cheer was a wonderful night. That last year does fly. If you can plan stuff ahead start doing it if you have grad parties. My neighbor used a keg-erator for root beer and had ice cream as one of the treats.Rootbeer floats and as clean up crew not as much “left over” pop on the tables.
I made and will be making a congratulations banner for my cousins. They loved them. I made a banner for our oldest and with just everything forgot to hang it .. I felt so bad!!! Ugh.
Have a great weekend. I am already listening to Bruno Mars new album…my Dad loved his music… I texted our oldest at like 1am new Bruno album dropped and he replied Yay! Lol. (He works night shift). He and my Dad loved to talk music.
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhhh this gives me all the feels, friend. xx
Terry says
Love the Disney pictures! Shay, do you have a link for your medallion necklace or was that a local find?
Mix and Match Mama says
I always get them at Love Shack on Nantucket! All of the ones I wear, I have bought from them. Here is their online store: https://www.lolacompany.com/shop-lola
Laci Murray says
I love the throwback pics! Jay and Sean WHOA!!! That is wild!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I sent it to my brother and said “Dad looks just like you” and he said “That’s the best dad has ever looked”. Bahahaha!
Martha says
Wow, so many lovely details to analyze in all these pictures, such as – why do the senior girls all wear blue dresses? When is the next opportunity I could serve charcuterie cups? Do I need that pretty yellow sweater? How did your grandma walk around Disney all day in those shoes? But what I really want to know is what did 4-year old Shay keep in her purse? 🙂 So adorable!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m DYING at your comment! Last year, they all wore pink dresses. Kensington’s grade is spicy, so my guess is they’ll all wear something like “your loudest print”, ha! I think you make yourself a cup right now and have it for lunch! Andrew said the SAME thing about my grandmother’s shoes, and my best guess is lipstick. Bahahaha!
Carol says
I’ve been reading your blog since Kensington was a baby. So hard to believe that she only has another year of high school. Wow! Love the Disney photos. I agree, your Grandmother seems to not age. Neither does your Mom. Beautiful ladies.
Have a Great weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for being here such a long time, Carol. I am truly blessed by it.
Kay says
THOSE PHOTOS though! First, your grandma is the most glamorous. She’s wearing heels! To Disney! She is amazing. And I love the look on your face on your first plane ride-precious! I cannot believe how much your dad looks like Sean. That is crazy! And, I think Smith! looks so much like you as a child? I never noticed it in recent photos. So fun to see, thanks for sharing! Hope the Shulls have a great weekend.
Courtney says
BABY SHAY! So precious. I’ve always thought Smith was a spitting imagine of Andrew but OH MY WORD. He’s you! Genetics are W I L D.
Marilyn Giuliano says
Hi Shay,
What a great post! Love the throwback photos!
I wanted to mention a book I started reading. I am not sure where I heard about it and it could have been from one of your recent posts but I seriously don’t remember. But you would love it! It is Dear Paris: The Paris Letters Collection by Janice Macleod. Have you read it or anything else from this author? She illustrates beautiful photos in her letters and the book is just a joy!
Marilyn
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t read that book! Thank YOU for the rec!
Sara says
Gotta love how our parents had us wear water wings at the beach. I’ll never forget the rash and chafing those things caused from the salt water and sand!! hahahaha
Erin says
Love those pics!!! Genetics are wild. Can we also talk about your mom and grandma in HEELS at Disney?!?!?!!?
Mix and Match Mama says
Epic, right?!
Anne says
What rating would you give to Anatomy of an Alibi, such as PG, R, etc? I always appreciate when you mention what to expect in a book.
Mix and Match Mama says
There are only a few naughty words, that’s it. So PG-13 (these days, that might qualify for PG?!).
Amanda says
that pic of you is so precious and what stood out to me was what a well loved little girl that was. The adorable hair, the sweet clothes, the book! It’s too dear and is such a testimony to a good good family.
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you for saying this. xx
Betsy says
Our only child will be graduating in May. This year has flown by and my emotions are all over the place.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I am sending you ALL THE LOVE!
Lyndsey says
Hi Shay! This cheer era for Kensington looks truly SO much fun and takes me back to my own cheer days. I’m curious, if you had children just entering school age, would you send them to public school these days? It seems like you have had such great experiences.
Mix and Match Mama says
I can only really answer that based on where I live, and my kids have done a wonderful job in public school…so yes, in my area, I’m a big fan of our school systems. I know it can vary greatly though.
Paula says
You know what I noticed about the pictures? Apparently I am not a detailed person. I thought they were all sweet. Then I read the comments and I thought, dang the details people notice. 😳 It is amazing.
Sean does look so much like Papa Jay!
Debbie Ham says
You look like a childhood Taylor Swift in that photo! It’s adorable
Mix and Match Mama says
I cannot wait to tell my daughters that someone said that about me 😉 .
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I love the theme of the cheer banquet!! So feminine and girly–it makes me want to throw one! Also loved your DW throwback pic and I’m going to echo what everyone else is saying–your grandmother in heels: obsessed!
MeetTheShaneyfelts
Amber says
Love the trip down memory lane but the real question on my mind is HOW ARE BOTH YOUR MOM & GRANDMA WEARING FANCY SANDALS AT DISNEY? 🤣 Those are some tough ladies, my feet would’ve been screaming all the way from and back through the gate! 🤣 Enjoy your day! 🌸
andrea in mn says
Can I just say your activity banquets are a far cry more elevated/elaborate/fancy than ours in Minnesota. WOW! Kinda different than our shoestring Amazon decor budget and buffet Italian meal!
; )
It’s beautiful!
Alyssa V says
Hi Shay! Do you have the link for the dress you wore to Kensington’s banquet! It’s SO cute! Thanks 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It is a very oldie but goodie from Lilly Pulitzer. 🙂
