Happy What’s Up Wednesday, friends!
Well goodness, this month certainly has flown by.
I don’t know about you, but this is always one of my favorite posts each month. I love to look back through my photos and content and see all the “things” that made March “March”.
Grab your coffee and settle in, as always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Merry March! xx

I have been on autopilot this week.
We arrived home on Sunday and as I was opening mail, getting laundry started, and emptying suitcases, Andrew went to the grocery store to get the ingredients for our…

…CHEESY RANCH TACOS. We have these every Sunday night…even Sunday nights when we just flew in from Tokyo.
On Monday morning, I went to the store and grabbed the ingredients for…

…my EASIEST WEEKNIGHT BRISKET. It’s just the best, y’all!
What did I do last night with the leftover brisket?
I made…

…BRISKET CHILI 🙂 .

Andrew’s birthday is next week which has me thinking about…

…that time we celebrated him turning the big 4-0 in our amazing shirts…

…and swimsuits. Bahahahaha! This will never not be funny to me. Tab, Erika, and I really know how to dress for someone’s birthday vacation 😉 .

This month, I did an ENTIRE POST ON MY NEW CARRY ON LUGGAGE. Goodness, I love it so so much!
Well since then, I also got…

…Kensington a set too. She has quite a bit of traveling in her near future and needed a good “set” to make things easy. I’m telling you, whether you need these items for yourself or as a gift, they are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

Well, we’ve been in Japan!
If you missed my FIRST RECAP yesterday, make sure you check it out now!
Speaking of which…

You guys, I have really figured out how to not let jet lag affect me…except clearly I haven’t because it has GOTTEN ME this time.
I honestly cannot tell you the last time I’ve had jet lag this bad, but it is what it is. Needless to say, I’m kind of dreading going to sleep tonight 😉 .

You guys, OPENING DAY IS TOMORROW!
I am so, so, so very excited for another baseball season.
‘Tis the season for a house divided.
Let’s go, Red Sox!

If you read…

…this month’s book club pick, make sure you read Monday’s post. If you didn’t read it, DON’T READ THE POST because it does contain spoilers, but DO READ THE BOOK!
I gave this one FIVE STARS.
I just cannot recommend it enough.
Next month…

…we’re reading This is Not About Us, and we would love to have you read it along with us.
Speaking of book clubs…

…this is one of my VERY favorite movies.
If you haven’t watched it yet (or recently), it’s such a good one.

Okay you guys, I’ve mentioned this podcast at least twice already…

…but I’m going to mention it again because when my kids say things in Tokyo like “look there’s an IKEA”, and I say “I listened to a four hour podcast on IKEA”, I need to know I’m not alone. I need you guys to listen and get sucked in like me so that I don’t feel so weird having all of this random Mars information in my head. Or Rolex. Or Berkshire Hathaway. Or Costco. Or Coca-Cola. I need to feel seen here, people.

If it’s not comfy, I’m probably not wearing it…

I’m a big fan of Amazon athleticwear because it’s priced well, comes in a lot of colors, and is oh so cute!
MY TANK + MY FAVORITE SPORTS BRA (I bought it in bright pink!) + THESE LINED SHORTS for the win this week!

I love THESE SHORTS because not only are they lined, but they have zippered pockets on both sides.

THESE SLIDES on repeat. The good thing about not sleeping well this week is that I’ve been bright eyed and bushy tailed for early morning yoga in my slides.

THE COMFIEST DRESS to wear this season with my TARGET SANDALS! This dress comes in several other colors, has pockets and a drawstring. So cute!

I just love THESE STRIPED PANTS!

They come in a lot of color options, but the white and blue spoke to my heart.

THIS SWEATER is currently on sale! I wore this sweater the first day we were in Tokyo. Love.
Speaking of love…

MY DENIM BOMBER JACKET has already been such a good find! I’ve worn it now on two flights, and it washes and dries so well.

And this month, I must mention MY JUMPSUIT again! It’s so so comfy and really darn cute.
In March, I also rounded up some really cute shoes…

#1: FLIP FLOPS
#2: HEELS
#3: WEDGES
#4: “DUPE” SANDALS
#5: RAFFIA BUCKLE SANDALS
#5: RAFFIA SANDALS
…just in time for your spring season!

We have a birthday party this weekend and other than that, not a whole lot else.

…I’ll be bustin’ out my suitcase again 🙂 .
And that wraps up this month’s WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY!
If you blogged along with us today, please link up below.
Have a wonderful day, friends! I’ll see you back here tomorrow! xx

Hi Shay,
Good Morning bright and early. I can only with empathize with you on the jet leg. My husband had to travel to and from Japan for work every month for at least a year. He would be gone two weeks and home for two weeks at a time. Needless to say, we racked up alot of frequent flyer miles. But yes. The jet leg was hard on him.
Anyways, my question to you is has Kensington decided on a college yet?? I haven’t seen you post anything on that topic. I did see awhile back how Erika and Ebbylee went college scouting. Would love to hear.
Thanks!!

She has narrowed it down to four schools and will start applying this summer. It is CRAZY to think we are already here!
Kristen says
Any New England schools? Or is she sticking close to home? My daughter starts the process next year so I would love a post on this!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I certainly see a blog post in the future on how we have/will navigate this chapter. For now, she’s not wanting us to discuss the schools she’s interested in, but one day, I’m sure I will!
Mollie L says
What color is Kensington’s luggage set?
Mix and Match Mama says
She picked the pink set!

I have heard about apps that help with jet lag. Timeshifter is one. Apparently it’s backed by science?! You put in your time zones, travel times, etc and it gives you specific instructions to help reduce jet lag. I’ve never used it, but people rave about it.
Dana P says
I tried the TimeShifter app and while I loved the principles and thought it really would work, it did not for me. And worse than it not working, it was a whole thing preparing to do it and actually made it more stressful to even get ready for the trip.
Our last overseas trip went amazingly well in terms of jet lag. Normally I have it really bad coming from Europe where we live and heading to the US, but this time it was practically nonexistent and I didn’t do anything different other than just not worry about it. So weird, because I wish I knew what the difference was. Maybe it was because we went to Texas where there was lots and lots of sun to keep us awake? Anyway, jetlag is the bane of my existence in our life and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it, Shay. In some ways it makes me feel better that it’s sometimes just the way it goes. Of course, there is always melatonin, sleep masks, etc. Surely you are almost done with it and will be back to a good night’s sleep SOON!
Nanci says
I look forward to reading your newest recommendation! I think you would love Theo of Gold!
Mix and Match Mama says
I read it in January! It was so so good!
Paula Hobbs says
That pink suitcase set is so pretty!! I hope the jet lag is over soon!!

Happy Wednesday and Happy Opening Day from our house to yours. 🙂 We are huge baseball fans over here.. and while reading your post today, it made me think you might need this shirt! Coffee & Baseball from Ivy + Cloth (I ordered this t-shirt several weeks ago and it’s adorable!! I’ll be wearing it today!
(No affiliation with them – just love supporting small businesses!) Have a great day!!

Mix and Match Mama says
IT’S ADORABLE!!!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
Yay for opening day of baseball tomorrow! We’ve been getting our baseball fix with Harrison’s practices and practice games. His first official game is March 31 and we’re all so excited! I loved your recap yesterday of Japan and I can’t wait to read more! How are your kids adjusting to being back in TX? I’ve never done a trip with a huge time change so I didn’t know if jet lag was worse on you as you get older or if it’s the same for everyone regardless of age.
MeetTheShaneyfelts
Mix and Match Mama says
He is going to be the CUTEST little baseball player! xx
Sheaffer says
I mean, those sandals are good. Realllllllllllly good.
Susan P Fitzpatrick says
One of my friends who went to Japan said she also had severe jet lag after getting back home. You aren’t alone! I love Kensington’s pretty pink carry on and weekender bag.
Margie says
I love that you are recommending Acquired to your readers. I actually listen to it in car rides with my 14 year old son. He’s very interested in it. Because my kids are half Swedish we definitey listened to the ENTIRE IKEA podcast which was very interesting. And we’ve listened to the 1st hour of Trader Joe, Coca Cola, and Spotify (also a Swedish company). I want to listen to many of them but they’re so long, it’s basically like listening to an audio book but I figured listening to even an hour of it is better than nothing at all. The origin stories are excellent.
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t listened to the Spotify one yet. I need to start that one STAT! I love, love that your son listens with you!
Valerie P says
I’m hooked on the Aquired podcasts too! I listened to the Mars podcast after you recommended it and immediately started listening to the one on IKEA. I listen in the car and on my morning walks. I have to hold myself back from telling everyone I pass when I’m out for my walks. 🤣 Eager to start the next one!
Have a great Wednesday!
Valerie
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel seen. Thank YOU! I just cannot quit them.
Elizabeth Dempsey says
Morning! I also got the Beis luggage and LOVE it! Did you get Kensington the weekender or the mini weekender size? I am going to buy some for graduation gifts and am debating between the two sizes! AAAHHH.
Mix and Match Mama says
The Weekender!
Lois J says
Have you listened to the Acquired episode on Trader Joes?? I never loved TJ more!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES! It was my first episode to listen to and the one that got me hooked. I think of Trader Joe’s in a whole new way now.
Debra says
Oh how I’d love to have your travel itinerary! Japan is definitely on my wish list! I’d love to figure out how I could add it to our Australia and New Zealand trip which is in the planning stages for next year, Lord willing.
Thanks so much for all of the great clothing/shoe recommendations! I love the sports bra rec, but as an older and bigger busted gal, I need a bit more coverage. I found a bra that is absolutely fantastic! It’s this one on Amazon: Yvette High Impact Zip Front Sports Bra Mesh Racerback Workout High Support Sports Bras for Women Large Breasts.
Erika Slaughter says
I’ve never even heard of that podcast! I’ll have to check it out!
Sue High says
Did you change your format? Because the pictures no longer appear (and I miss those!).
Mix and Match Mama says
You don’t see any pictures? Have you closed your browser and opened it back up? They’re there!
Joanne says
Just added those suitcases to my travel wishlist this morning!
Beck says
Thank you for recommending the Acquired podcast! It has been a game changer for our 4 hour drives back and forth to northern Michigan. So far we’ve listened to Costco, Trader Joe’s and Mars. Now when planning our trips we also plan which Acquired episode we’ll listen to😃
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay! I’m so happy you’re enjoying it too! I’ve yet to listen to one I didn’t love.
Sammie says
My husband and I have listened to every episode of Acquired – it’s long been our road trip entertainment! I agree that it’s the best!!
Julie says
Those tacos are a staple in our household! So yummy!!
Nicole says
What’s your current go to order from Chick-Fil-A?! Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
You know, I haven’t been in a long while, but it’s the same. Cobb salad with grilled chicken and the zesty buffalo sauce 🙂 .
Keri Smithson says
Do you have the weekender or mini weekender bag? The weekender looks like it might be too big to be a personal item so was curious which one you had?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have the Weekender. It fit under the seat in front of me. I didn’t have it completely stuffed, so the top part (with the handles) folded over and it slid right under.
