July 4th Weekend 2026

Good morning and HAPPY TUESDAY!

You guys, I hope you had a wonderful, wonderful July 4th!

I mentioned this on Friday, but July 4th is always one of my very favorite holidays (and days of the year).  We have had many, many, many great July 4ths as a family, but I’ve got to tell you…this one might be my new favorite.  From beginning to end, it was just a really sweet time with my five favorite people.

I took approximately 4 million photos, but don’t worry, I’m not going to post them all.

Here’s a little July Fourth Weekend Recap…

Our weekend started off on Friday, the 3rd.  We picked up Kensington from the airport after she had taken the red eye from San Fransisco to Nantucket (via Philadelphia).  We were so so excited to see her.  Frenchie and Charlie were extra extra excited to see her too.  We grabbed lunch and then she showered and took a much needed nap while the rest of us…

…headed to Cisco beach for some sun, sand, sea, and book reading 😉 .

After we were finished being beach bums, we came home and got ready for dinner…

…I thought MY DRESS was very July 4th weekend.  It’s linen which I LOVE!

The six of us headed into town for a July 3rd dinner at…

…Brant Point Grill…

…which is one of our favorites! Not only is the food delicious, but the views are absolutely incredible.  Goodness, I love my people BIG!

Speaking of big…

Geez, wasn’t this just yesterday…

…here they are standing in front of this same restaurant on July 16, 2019.  Don’t blink, mamas.  Those babies do not keep.

After dinner, Smith and Ashby went home to watch soccer while the rest of us…

…headed to The Juice Bar for ice cream.

I got that day’s special which was…

…dirt 😉 .  It was mint chocolate ice cream with mint chocolate Oreos and mint chocolate cookie dough.  Yes, please!  It was delicious!!

The morning of July 4th…

…I was up bright and early ready to enjoy this day!  I snapped a few pics while I was outside with the dogs…

…the flowers were looking oh so pretty.

I got dressed to head out for a run and thought I looked extra festive…

…in my hat!

After my run, everyone ate breakfast and got ready to head downtown.  We wanted to leave by 9:30…

…ignore the laundry and instead focus on my CUTE SHORTS!  Love.

So cute, right?!

We all headed to town for the July 4th morning festivities…

…awwww, I love this girl.  The minute we got to town, the first thing we did was get iced coffee from Aunt Leah’s.  It’s our fave.

And I love this girl too!

Main Street was bustling!  They always bring out the farmers market for the Fourth, so vendors were set up selling food, drinks and a wide assortment of items (candles, art, jewelry, jams, produce, etc).

We are under a water restriction for the second summer in a row here, and originally the Nantucket firefighter water fight was going to be cancelled like it was last year.  This is a super super fun event when two of our fire engines face off in the middle of Main and fire their hoses at each other (getting everyone on Main Street soaked).  Last year, it was cancelled because of the water restriction, but this year, some local businesses paid for water to be brought over from the mainland so that this tradition didn’t have to pause a second year…

…the donated water was placed in the middle of Main and two fire trucks showed up to fill their tanks with it. After they were filled…

…the annual water fight commenced!

You are guaranteed to get drenched on Main…

We were SOAKED but had the best, best time!

We headed home to change out of our wet clothes, ate lunch and then at 2:00, we went to the harbor to catch…

…a boat for the afternoon.  For many years in a row, we have charted a boat for July 4th from Sweet Yacht Charters.  It’s one of our favorite July 4th traditions.

The weather could not have been more perfect for an afternoon on a boat…

…off we went…

…we snapped this photo before we all jumped in the ocean.  We are ocean loving people and had the BEST afternoon…

…the brave ones jump off the top of the boat.  I slowly go down the ladder into the water.  Bahahaha!

It’s hard to snap pics when you’re enjoying the moment and in the ocean, but Andrew did snap this one of me out in the water with my four babies.  Being a mama is my very very very favorite thing.

Our boat ride wrapped up at 5:00, and we headed home to shower and make dinner…

…I had made a trifle earlier that morning, and Smith (my extremely detail oriented child) decorated it.

We grilled burgers and made sides and enjoyed our trifle before heading out at 8:00 for…

…fireworks viewing from Steps Beach.  Always a gorgeous view.

Anytime we need sweatshirts for the July 4th fireworks, we’re happy.  July 4th weekend was the first time I ever visited Nantucket with my parents way back in 1996…THIRTY YEARS AGO!  And on July 4, 2002, I went to my parents’ house, opened the back door, and this cute friend of my brother’s was coming out of a room into the hallway.  It was the first time we met.  Twenty four years later, and he’s still my favorite person.  Ever.
