Happy WEEKEND, friends!
If you are looking for us, we will be at the beach!
I am trying trying trying so hard not to count down how many Nantucket weekends I have left this summer…but there aren’t nearly as many as I’d like.
I hope whatever you have planned this weekend brings you JOY.
Thank you so much for being here with me on this Saturday.
I mentioned this on Thursday…

…but here we are along with the rest of the island at Stop & Shop 🙂 . I thought I’d share a pic since I was just telling you how it’s the most popular spot on Nantucket.
Alrighty, let’s get to it. Sending you so much love this weekend! xx

Our lighter went out this week, and as you know, I must have a candle lit in order to be happy. Andrew was heading to the grocery store, so I asked him to pick up another one.
He came home with this…

…have you ever seen such a thing? My mind was blown.

…it’s an electric USB lighter. He thought it was so clever…I’m still kind of on the fence. Is it just me or is the actual flame part of the charm? I’m not quite sure. Maybe all of you use these, and I’ve been living in a cave…but my mind was genuinely blown that I can now “charge” my lighter.

It’s the BEST of BOTH worlds…

…A DISNEY CRUISE TO EUROPE!!!!

It truly, truly is the best of both worlds. You get to travel through Europe with Disney’s magical touch.

Whether you’re interested in Disney, Europe, cruises, or the magical European Disney Cruise, we would love to help! Contact us today for more information on all of our vacation planning.
Don’t forget, it’s not too early to start booking your summer 2027 travels too!

You guys, on Thursday, Ashby, Mades and I had the BEST time PADDLE BOARDING!

We have wanted to paddle board on Nantucket for years, but for whatever reason, we never got around to it. Now that we’ve done it, we will certainly be doing it more often.
Here’s the thing though…when we arrived, the weather was pretty darn fantastic. The three of us got our life jackets, our boards, and paddles and headed out. Ashby had her own board, and Mades and I shared. We were doing great and everything was going totally fine and then all of a sudden, the wind picked up. It happened really quickly and before I knew it, we were way out away from the shore. I saw the Hy Line (the speed ferry) and thought, why are we getting so close to the big boats? We were trying our hardest to get back to shore (going against the wind) when the lovely people working sailing school came to our rescue. My teen and almost teen were mortified…but I was just thrilled we didn’t end up on the front page of the Inquirer and Mirror (Nantucket’s newspaper).
We all agreed we can’t wait to do it again…on a day when it’s not so windy 😉 .

Woohoo! Who doesn’t love a Saturday sale?!

Andrew and the big kids headed to “the mainland” for two nights this week for some football stuff/sightseeing…

…and they just put all of their stuff in one big suitcase instead of bringing three carry on bags. Someone tried to sneak away with them.

On Thursday night, the three of us headed into town to eat at Town. I am pretty sure I’ve shared this restaurant before, but I think it’s very underrated. It’s tucked away right in the heart of town and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend! You can dine inside or outside (seasonally). If you’re looking for a great meal in town, try Town 🙂 .

A few more sales to round out our weekend…

Those lighters are all over instagram, that’s so funny that you hadn’t seen them. Must be doing good things with your time. 🙂 I got one and did enjoy the novelty of it, but it broke pretty quickly. I’ve never had a normal lighter do that so I think I’ll stick with my trusty old bic candle lighters. Also, your sailing adventure sounds scary! I got trapped in an riptide years ago (but just swimming, not in a boat) and the feeling of water carrying you away is not my favorite. So glad you guys were okay and could laugh it off!

Andrew thinks it’s so fascinating…I’m very much on the fence about it.

What a fun week! Thanks for sharing!!

Have such a lovely weekend!
Soak in all of that Nantucket charm!
Such a beautiful place!

Be careful in that Stop and Shop parking lot. A person from my CT county hit and killed someone in that parking lot this week. My Trader Joe’s parking lot is just like that…a big accident waiting to happen.
Mix and Match Mama says
That was in the harbor parking lot, and I know. It’s just so so terrible. That parking lot is extra extra insane because people are trying to cut through there to get to the ferry and/or park there for town.

Love those lighters! I didn’t know I was so ahead of the game 🤣 Happy Saturday!
Holly Sheridan says
I have that exact lighter and it still works after years!😄
Kristen Sass says
I can now agree because I’ve seen it, Stop & Shop is the most popular spot on the island. LOL! I love that striped set…I think I need it! So fun running into you yesterday!

I got my first USB lighter in a summer jelly box ( not sure if you know what a Jilly box is, but it’s a subscription box curated by Jillian Harris herself!) and I absolutely love it. I’m like you I’m always looking for the real flame, but I love that I can charge it and don’t have to worry about the fuel running out.
Susan Kalb says
I’ve had one of those lighters for several years. My cousin bought it for me from Amazon. I bought them for the teenage grandkids who like candles burning. I think they are safer than a burning flame. I like them but you need to keep them charged.
Mix and Match Mama says
How often do you find you charge yours?
Heather says
Because it’s shark week and they’ve been talking about sharks on the east coast, I thought of you guys. You ever see sharks there closer to shore?
Mix and Match Mama says
I love Shark Week. I have mentioned this before, but it’s one of my favorite things to watch each summer. Why? I don’t know. Yes but not often. But yes.
Dana J says
That happened to me once on a paddle board and it was scary!! Glad y’all got back safe!! Happy weekend!
Jaime says
Did All the Dogs come to Nantucket with you?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yankee and Poppy went to stay with Andrew’s parents this summer 🙂

We have 3 kids and definitely l0ve family time. But my two oldest just finished 10th and 11th grade and they are not interested at all in being away from their friends for weeks at a time (we have a famly home we share with my siblings in the upper peninpeninsula in Michigan). 10 days is the max for them. It does make it easier if they bring friends with them.

Watching The Five Star Weekend on Peacock, showing Nantucket if you want to check it out!
Denise says
I just saw something you might be interested in. Lynda Mullaly Hunt, author of my favorite teen book (Fish in a Tree), will be on Nantucket on Monday, 7/20. She will be at Mitchell’s Book Corner at 10:30 to share her new book, How to Build a Miracle. If you are free, you should check it out! If she travels to my area, I would love to meet her!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for the tidbit!!
Leah Z says
Have you noticed that kids can hear the lighter being turned on and grownups can’t? It’s like a dog whistle! Our college son will turn it on randomly just to annoy his younger sister because it hurts her ears!
Mix and Match Mama says
And now, I will test this out…
Amy says
Yes! My girls can hear it and asked that we don’t use it around them. Our dogs react to it as well!
Amanda says
I love Town (and Queequegs)! And I love that they’re open year-round when I’m on the island overnight for work! Perfect dinner spot!
Angela says
The picture of somedoggie sleeping in the suitcase was adorable! Did Smith go to a football camp in Boston? A football mom here, and I thought I saw a football helmet in the suitcase! We’ve made our round of all the football camps here in Iowa and the Midwest!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! He went to two last week!
