What’s Up Wednesday {12.20.17}

It’s the last  What’s Up Wednesday of 2017!

Once a month, my friends Mel, Sheaffer and I host this link up where we share some random and fun stuff that’s up with us today.  If you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up at the bottom of the post!  Every month, we answer these questions…

…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts!

I cannot believe this is the last WUW of the year.  Where has the time gone?  It’s true what they say…the days are long, but the years are short.  I kind of want time to stop.

As we wrap up 2017, here’s a little look at what’s up with me today.  Wishing you the warmest Wednesday, friends. xo

12 Savory & Sweet Christmas Recipes

I feel like it’s a lot of party food this week.  Whether it’s sweet or savory, we’re in full “party food” mode right now.  If you’re eating the same thing this week, make sure you check out my 12 Savory & Sweet Christmas Recipes!

Plus…did you see this recipe today…

Cranberry Jalapeno Bites

…my Cranberry Jalapeno Bites are INSANELY delish!  I’m making them on Christmas Eve and you should too!!  See the recipe HERE.

We have been talking a lot about Christmas 2014 around here.  Just three days after Christmas that year, we left to get Ashby.  It was SUCH an exciting time!!!  We’ve been trying to share with Ashby about how excited we all were that year and how we could not wait for Christmas to be over so that we could head to China.

This sweater and boot combination.  I wore it twice last week.  The sweater is so soft (and comes in multiple colors) and the boots are soooo comfy (and cute!!).  This outfit is on repeat over here.

Oh goodness, this dress has a surprise inside that I was not expecting when I ordered it.  Wait for it…it feels like a sweatshirt.  #amen

I bought this dress in black (it comes in two other colors too) and when it arrived and I tried it on, it felt like cozy pajamas.  #winning

It’s a dress that feels like a sweatshirt.  Basically, it’s amazing.

Livin’ our best December life!  We’ve been spending a lot of time on our town square because it’s just so darn FESTIVE!

That moment when I have to take down my Christmas decorations.  If it were acceptable, I’d leave them up year around.

Not a darn thing.

We’re, of course, handling trips in progress right now over at Mix and Match Travel Agency, but other than that, we’re “closed” for the Christmas holiday and will reopen the week of January 8th.  At that time, we will be accepting trips departing after April 1 for Walt Disney World, cruises and Mexican all-inclusives.  In the meantime, I’m enjoying the time off with my family.  We have a fun trip planned and are so excited for some time away together!

Last year, we headed to NYC after Christmas and decided that it was so much fun traveling right after the big day that we’re going to do it again this year too.  I’m ready for lots of cozy family time!!

My 2017 Book Review (where I recap all of the books I read this year plus name my favorite!) will be on January 5!  If you missed my 2016 Book Review

…you can see it HERE.

You can see all of the books and read my reviews for this year HERE.

And what I’ve been watching…

…can’t stop.  I love this show!!!  I’m so glad so many of you suggested it to me this year!!

Seriously, I basically listen to it in my sleep 🙂 .

Right this very minute…

these pajamas and slippers.  I would take a pic, but it’s 4:57 AM and it might frighten you 😉 .

On Friday night, we have one last “framily” night with the Slaughters, on Saturday night, we are having our Christmas Eve Eve dinner and then on Sunday and Monday, my house is going to be crawling with family as we celebrate Christmas together!

This handsome boy turns eight.  Eight!  How can that be?!?!  He’s getting a very special birthday celebration this year!!

Whew!  I think that’s it!!

Bonus question this month: What is the best gift you’ve ever given a guy?

Why are guy gifts so hard?!?  I will say that for Father’s Day this year, I gave Andrew a smoker…and it’s the perfect gift because he loves smoking different kinds of meats and such and I enjoy the yummy return on my investment 🙂 .  #winning #whendadmakesdinner

Okay!  That’s What’s Up Wednesday today! If you blogged too, make sure you link up below.  xo

It’s about the Secretary of State. It’s fictional, but I love it!

  • Sheaffer Sims December 20, 2017 at 5:26 am

That last pic of you two is TOO CUTE! BRING! ON! CHRISTMAS!

  • Tara G. December 20, 2017 at 5:26 am

I grew up in cranberry country. Look up Rubi Reds in Wisconsin Rapids – best craisins you’ll ever eat. The chocolate covered ones are great, too.

  • Nicole December 20, 2017 at 5:41 am

Do you leave up any Winter decor? Or does it all go down?

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 5:44 am

I have a few “winter” things…but it almost all goes down.

  • Alison December 20, 2017 at 6:05 am

Where did you get your cute marble phone case? I was looking for one, but the ones I found didn’t look like they were very protective. Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 6:38 am

We’re not going to NYC! We’re just going somewhere after Christmas again like last year when we went to NYC 🙂 . A new adventure awaits!

  • Carolyn December 20, 2017 at 6:41 am

Are the cranberry bites too hot for kids? Do your kids eat them?

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 7:01 am

Not at all!! I removed the seeds and ribs for less heat, and it’s only one divided between 3 dozen cups.

  • Elspeth Mizner December 20, 2017 at 6:44 am

Love your granola nights and I can’t wait to see where you go away too! Hopefully someplace warm?

    • Melissa December 20, 2017 at 7:41 am

      Granola nights?

  • Samantha Harris December 20, 2017 at 6:51 am

Love madam Secretary too!! Enjoy your week! Merry Christmas!

  • Erin Port December 20, 2017 at 6:52 am

I can’t believe 2017 is drawing to a close and I can’t believe it was 2015 when you brought Ashby home. Time sure flies! Can’t wait to see where you head post-christmas as a family! xoxo ERIN

  • Narci Dreffs December 20, 2017 at 6:52 am

I love that sweater dress on you!! So cute! Also, I’m super impressed by Smith’s handstand skills! Nice work, Smith!!

  • Tanya December 20, 2017 at 7:11 am

Can’t wait to see where your adventure will take you after Christmas. We have talked about going to NYC every year for Thanksgiving…so festive. A question for you – will you be continuing the WUW link up in 2018? Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 11:50 am

      We will!!

  • Brooke Richardson December 20, 2017 at 7:21 am

Eeeek! Only 5 days left till Chrostmas! Can’t wait to hear about your trip!

  • Kimberly Nelson December 20, 2017 at 7:33 am

Two separate gifts that were perfect for my guy:

    1. I got an over sized map created to hang on a wall so he can pin all of his travels, its fun to look out and always exciting to add a pin! I had it customized so he has a pin color for work trips and a different pin color for fun trips.

    2. I wrapped up a crisp $10 bill and surprised my guy with tickets to Hamilton in Chicago. I coordinated with brother and SIL, so we had a trip to look forward to with family!

  • Debra December 20, 2017 at 7:38 am

My husband has a thirty minute commute to work, and we have an older commuter car that he drives, so it’s not set up with Bluetooth. I gave him Sirius XM Radio for Christmas this year, and he loves it!

  • Alexis deZayas December 20, 2017 at 7:45 am

I’m going to NYC for New Years and am so excited!! We’ve never been this time of year!

  • Taylor December 20, 2017 at 7:55 am

Do you watch This is Us??? If so, i totally think you should! I just started binge watching it last week and I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to start it.

  • Megan December 20, 2017 at 8:15 am

Hi! I’m curious what speakers you use in your home to play music. I’ve noticed when you screenshot it has them labeled. Do you use Sonos?

I’m in the market for a new option for playing music so I’d love suggestions!

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 11:50 am

Yes! I do use Sonos. We love it!

  • Angela Ellingson December 20, 2017 at 8:59 am

Looking forward to your next trip recap! I always love those. Merry Christmas week!

  • Janet Teeter December 20, 2017 at 9:14 am

I realize this has nothing to do with great gifts for men, but my coffee maker went up in smoke two days ago, and I’m looking for recommendations for a replacement. I’ve asked several friends, and thought I’d ask you as well!

    • Mix and Match Mama December 20, 2017 at 11:49 am

      I love my Keurig 🙂 .

  • Janet December 20, 2017 at 10:04 am

So the best gift I ever gave my husband was a NASCAR driving experience at the Las Vegas Speedway. He LOVED it!

  • SC McKay December 20, 2017 at 10:09 am

So sad seeing Christmas and 2017 coming to an end 😢 Can’t wait to see where you guys are heading on vacation. Have you ever seen the TV movie “The Night They Saved Christmas”? It was originally on in 1985-ish. If you haven’t, based on your other Christmas faves, you would enjoy it! It’s my absolute favorite.

  • Lauren December 21, 2017 at 12:24 pm

I once made my boyfriend (now husband) a quilt! I was so proud of it!

  • Kacy December 26, 2017 at 6:41 pm

I tend to gift guys clothes bc they always wear the same things and I know it will be put to good use. I gave one guy friend a personalized Spurs jersey once for his bday and he loved it (it was pricey but worth it).
