It’s the last Wednesday of the month which means that today is What’s Up Wednesday!

Allllllll the fall sports…
On Friday night, we had another nail biting game in Colleyville against the Panthers. This stadium is two minutes from my parents’ house, so we were able to meet them plus all the Slaughters for a pre-game dinner before screaming and hollering our way through four quarters.

A win in overtime! That’s the kind of game that keeps your heartrate elevated alllllll night.

And on Monday night…
…we found ourselves at Lovejoy High cheering on Ashby! She had her best time to date in a meet! We are SO proud of her!!
I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t love taking my dogs outside in the backyard when it’s really dark because there is a whole slew of creatures that live back. I head out with my air horn every.single.time just so I have something loud to blow to scare off a “friend”. I go out there prepared for coyotes. And bobcats. And armadillos.
The other morning, I was out there in the dark with my air horn walking around barefoot in the grass while the dogs went potty. Unless it’s cold, I always go out barefoot because I don’t want my slippers to get dirty, and I’m too lazy to get shoes. Well Yankee got spooked and sprinted back to the house which spooked me and made me go inside. I told Andrew something was out there, so he went to investigate. Then I heard that super calm yet authoritative husband voice tell me to walk forward and keep an eye on the big SNAKE in the grass while he went to get something to move it away. For the love, I don’t think snakes are scared of air horns, so now, I’m in real trouble out there. Sigh.
Amen.
Yesterday, I shared…

Perhaps I have been living under a rock, but until a few days ago, I had never heard of this series…
…apparently, this show originally aired on Fox but now, you can catch it on Netflix. I opened my Netflix app and saw it was trending, so I downloaded the first few episodes for my flights this weekend to and from New York. So far, it’s cute!
It’s about a Boston surgeon who moves to a small town in Maine. It’s very “Doc Hollywood-ish” (he’s kind of a jerk, there is a cute girl and a cast of small town quirky characters), but it was light and easy to watch.
Me and everyone else in the world have spent the last month listening to…
…on repeat.
Not only that, but I’ve heard a handful of marching bands play 9 to 5 this month at football games, and I even went to hot yoga once this month and she declared it “Dolly Day” in class.

After two years in a row, this is the first year that Lovejoy and McKinney Boyd haven’t had the same hoco date and this mama could NOT be more excited about that.

I can attest to the brisket! Used a really good olive oil in my crock pot and seared it on both sides then let it cook on low for eight hours. Toasted burger buns and roasted sweet potatoes…perfect for practice nights! Leftovers the nexts day for my lunch. Thank you for this!

I loved Best Medicine!!! I love a sweet show that solves a problem every episode. So sweet!!

Best Medicine is based on the British show, Doc Martin, which aired here originally on PBS and available to stream. Naturally that show is English but is the original. The doctor who arrives in the small town of Port Wenn was a prominent vascular surgeon in London. You may enjoy that as well, and there are many seasons.

Shay, you crack me up with the air horn(back in land line days my cousin had prank caller and they kept one by the phone). We walk our dogs in the dark…but do have lights that pop on. Our dogs will look off into the woods and our kiddo is like nope I am outta here. We sometimes just take them to a different part of the yard. Lol.
Snakes…hate them… My scariest snake encounter was when I was moving a plant (I put house plants outside) one had gotten in the plant without me knowing, and I moved it. It’s tal hit my leg. I was screaming. Ugh. Nothing like seeing a Blue eraser slither away.
Homecoming in October you must be excited about that!!! We are having the fall weather rain and then temps in the 60s!!! Kiddo has already said it is going to be rainy we are decorating tomorrow!

Not sure if you like British shows, but Best Medicine is an American version of the British show Doc Martin, which was cute and lovely and I want to live in that tiny town!

I am with you on the dislike of taking my dog out in the dark but mostly because of skunks!!! I’m terrified of him getting sprayed. And then what in the world am I going to do about it??

A family member’s dog brought one into the house. They thought it was a toy!!! It was at night as well. It sprayed and they had to move out for like 2-3 days while clean up took place!!! It was crazy! Outside toys stay outside!!! LOL

We also live in Dallas and our mini goldendoodle was actually sprayed by a skunk last Saturday night in our backyard! I’ve seen coyotes, bobcats and raccoons but this was the first skunk. My husband and I were at the Phil Wickham concert so my sweet 15 year old daughter rinsed our dog off and waited with her outside until we got home. We washed her multiple times and had her groomed but she still smells, poor thing.

I also recently discovered Best Medicine on Netflix and loved it! My parents have become big fans too. Season 2 premiered on FOX last week — it is out weekly on Tuesday nights!

I keep my daughter’s Crocs by the back door to take my dog out. I hate taking my dog out too when it’s dark. It really creeps me out when he sees something in the dark that I don’t! 😳😂
