Woohoo!
It’s the first “How We…” Wednesday of 2018.
2018.
I’m still not quite used to that one.
Once a month, Erika and I are going to host a link up where we talk about how we (fill in the blank). We’ll share and then we’re hoping you’ll link up and share too…because I LOVE learning new things from you ladies! Here are our topics for the year…
We will be posting and linking up the second Wednesday of every month, so mark your calendars!
Today’s topic is…how we do goals/resolutions and such.
So, come on in and let’s discuss…
Ha! I thought I’d welcome you in to my house on my head for grins…because practicing yoga more is one of my goals this year 😉 .
Here’s the thing, I’m very much a “the year starts in September when the kids go back to school” kind of thinker/planner, but I have been thinking about things I would like to do with this fresh new year. I toggle back and forth between the kind of girl who actually writes a list and crosses things off to a girl who just makes a mental note to aim for things that year. I think this year, I’m going to be more of a cross things off my list kind of gal. What do you do? Last year, my goal was to be intentional about my whole life. I want to be an intentional mom/friend/wife/daughter/sister/coworker/blogger/neighbor/church member/school mom/you name it…I just want to be present and intentional with my time, my words, my money, my heart, and my prayers. That’s something I’m still working on this year too. I saw this on Pinterest and loved it…
Whoa.
That hits close to home.
So, this year, I’m writing out a list of things I’m working on/goals I want to achieve/etc and keeping it in my Bible so that I see it with my daily quiet time. For me, this is the best place to put a list like this because I see it every day and as I’m praying over so many other things, it really helps me keep my priorities straightened out to have the list right there. As the year goes on, I will update it, change it, make notes and/or add things to it. And if I don’t do everything on my list? That’s okay too. I have no clue what’s in store for our family this year…I’m just going to move forward and let God guide my steps.
So, here are a few “resolutions” for my 2018. I’ve decided to pick one for each “category” of my life…
Body: Keep practicing yoga.
I’ve been practicing yoga since I was about 18 and love it for so many reasons. First, it stretches me out and keeps me flexible after all of the running/walking/weight lifting classes I take. Second, it is so relaxing and a great way for me to tune things out and just be. Finally, I think it helps me stay toned and lengthened too. I am always trying to incorporate bits and pieces of it into my daily routine. I recently discovered Tara Stiles and her Yoga Solution on Pinterest and have been loving her workout videos. I have always been a huge fan of Kristin McGee (she has DVDs and even an app!) too. When you can’t get to a class, Youtube is also a great place to find endless workout videos as well! In May of 2016, I posted THIS about my weekly workouts and honestly, it’s still pretty much the same.
Health: Get more sleep.
Oh my word, this goes against everything in me…but I know I need more sleep. My goal this year (I’m cringing as I type this) is to wake up at 5:00 AM every day instead of earlier (hello, 4:10?!). Here’s the thing…I’m a morning person (my mom would call 4:10 a “middle of the night” person), but I know that because I don’t go to bed very early (I typically go to bed around 10:30), that I’m not getting enough sleep. It really hit me this past Saturday night…Andrew and I were in bed watching TV around 10:00 and I felt fantastic! I was lying down in bed, in the dark, watching TV and not totally and completely exhausted (as per usual), and I told Andrew that I felt so good. He said…well, it’s probably because we’ve been sleeping (being in Colorado, we slept so much more). And it hit me…I want to feel like this EVERY DAY! Now, I know waking up at 5:00 is still early…but that’s a big step for me (and honestly, I really can’t imagine sleeping that long every day). So far this week, I’ve made it happen every day and as silly as it sounds, I’m feeling good. I’m also aiming to be asleep by 10:00 (or even 9:45???) each night too. Sleep is important and I flat out don’t get enough. This is my year to really focus on changing that.
Food: Find better lunches.
Hi, my name is Shay, and lunch is my least favorite meal of the day…and therefore, I don’t eat a very good one. I love breakfast and I love dinner, but lunch is just not my fave, so I mostly snack…which leaves me hungry around 3:00 and I snack some more. Urg. During the summer, with the kids at home, I feel like I have a more substantial lunch, but this time of year, I’m a nibbler…and that needs to stop.
Serving: Plan a mission trip.
This year, I really want to plan a mission trip. I have some ideas about where I want to go/what I want to do…and I don’t know if it will come to completion in 2018, but I want to start planning for it/praying over the idea.
Mind: Read more books.
Ha! I know, I know, I know…I already read a lot…but I could read more. The last three years, I’ve basically read the same number of books each year (62, 62, 63), so this year, my goal is to read a little more. A little more reading never hurt anyone, right?! Maybe even just one more a month? I’m thinking my goal is 70 this year.
Discover: Travel somewhere new.
We loved traveling to a few new places last year (Washington D.C., The Hamptons, and Alaska), so this year, we’re setting out to see some other new places. As much as I love repeating spots, we live in a great big world…so, we’re going to try and see some new places.
Spiritual: Memorize more scripture.
Yup. I’m going to try and pick one verse a week to memorize.
Marriage: Go on more day dates.
Ah! This year, Andrew and I discovered the joy of “day dating”. Two days a week, all four kiddos are in school, which means, we can have lunch together. I loved this and want to keep it going this year too! With day dating, we don’t have to pay for a sitter, and it’s such a lovely way to break up the day.
Parenting: Unplug more.
Every year, I make a little goal to unplug more. A few years ago, I started turning off my computer at 2:55 every day (they come home at 3:00) and this past year, I stopped scrolling through IG and FB (instead, I sit down once or twice a day for intentional “let’s look at social media time” instead of mindless scrolling). This is my last year before Ashby goes off to school every day, so I better make every.single.darn.second count, right?!
Passion: Advocate more for adoption
I never in a million years thought I’d be an advocate for adoption and orphan care, but the Lord has made it clear to me that it’s what I’m supposed to focus on at this time in my life. I have some ideas going into 2018…but I’m praying about other ways I can be an advocate for those who don’t have a forever family. Adoption is just so near and dear to me…and I want there to be more families made through it.
So, those are my resolutions…
…and I’m keeping them in my Bible.
A few other New Year type things…
…if you haven’t read Unstuffed, then you should 🙂 . I did an entire post about this book HERE. It’s fantastic!
And if you’re like me and enjoy a little pin-spiration, here are my favorite boards to motivate you right now…
That wraps up our very first How We…Wednesday! So, tell us, how do you do resolutions/goals/etc? Please comment and share! If you blogged, make sure you link up too!! We’re so excited to kick off our new year with YOU!!

I love how you categorised your different goals. They’re really reasonable, achievable ones too! I’m definitely making it a priority to sleep more and sleep earlier. My schedule is a disaster since I always sleep at 3am!

That’s a lot of goals! Day dates and eating better lunches go hand in hand. You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I’ll be lucky if I can stick to 3 goals. You’re ambitious!
Kellee says
Wow! We have similar goals for 2018. My top goal this year is to get more sleep! I wake up at 3:30am because I have to be at work at 5:00am Monday-Thursday. My hubby has been telling me for years to go to bed early. And he was right because I feel so much better! Love the handstand picture!
Sarah says
Love the goal about sleeping more!!! My goal this year is similar to yours last year – to be more present, and also to relax and just allow myself to “be” without feeling guilty. I’m sure every woman feels like they constantly need to be doing things and needing to be productive, but this year, I want to allow myself guilt-free downtime and more time for fun things such as reading and playing the piano. And, of course, to pour into my family and enjoy the stage we are at (three girls – ages 5, 4 and 1)!
Thanks for the inspiration!! Hope you have a great day!!

Is it weird that I was SO stinkin’ happy for you when I read GET MORE SLEEP?? That’s gonna be life changing!!
Carol says
I felt the same way when I read this!! GO SHAY!!! I have no doubt you will still be super productive and get quality time with family/friends 🙂
Dana says
Love it! I just discovered I can access our home city’s library app and now I can get 6 ebooks or audiobooks a month for FREE!! This changes so much. I already ‘read’ 2 books last week (The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna and The Most Important Place on Earth by Robert Wolgemuth- I really enjoyed both!). If you don’t already do it, I highly suggest listening to books while you clean, do dishes, etc. I try to pick good ones that I like my kids to listen to as well, so that’s an added bonus that they’re overhearing some really good stuff. My ‘resolution’ for last year was to listen to more podcasts as well and I’m not exaggerating when I say that adding Revive Our Hearts to my morning routine was life changing! And one last thing- I’m so glad you’re adding sleep to your priorities. I have always wondered how on earth you do all you do on such little sleep. You’re going to feel like a new woman! 🙂
Hanna says
I’ve been trying to unplug more too. I heard of the MOMENT app and it keeps track of how much screen time you have each day. It’s really helping me see how much time I waste aimlessly on my phone and helps me be more intentional about unplugging.
Taylor says
I have the same problem with lunch! I always have my meals planned for breakfast and dinner but when it comes to lunch I always snack. Also, do you follow Lauren Akins on Instagram (Thomas Rhett’s wife)? She is involved with an organization called 147 Million Orphans and anytime she goes on mission trips I always think of you. I’m sure you have your own plans on your heart but maybe it could be something to check out!
jamie says
i really want to be a workout at home kind of gal. i need yoga in my life. i’ve taken a few classes and it just makes me so happy. i follow {simply sadie jane} and she recently started doing yoga videos and from just watching a quick minute or so of them, she is so calming. thank you for being one of the best parts of my weekday mornings, shay. you inspire me in so many areas of my life. now off to do my {first 5} devotion {app}….
Alexis says
Love this!! I love yoga but haven’t done it regularly since college. Do you know of any YouTube yoga videos/instructors that would be good for beginners? Wasn’t sure if the one you mentioned today would be good for that or not. Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel like both I listed have great classes for beginners. Look at the video’s title because it will say “beginner” on it!
Naomi says
You could also try Yoga with Adriene! She has a YouTube channel. I love her videos, and she has a wide variety of videos for beginners to more advance yogis. She may even have a series specifically for beginners/foundations of yoga. I would definitely consider myself a beginner and I think her videos are really accessible.
Mix and Match Mama says
I love her too!!!
Jo Biddick says
I live with a chronic illness and as Forest Gump would say, “Life’s like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you’re gonna get”. I never quite know what each day is going to bring which makes setting goals a challenge, and so for this year I have adopted two words, “Intentional” and “Spontaneous”, I will be intentional with my relationships and spontaneous with my actions. This year I want to be intentional in my relationship with God like I’ve never been before and spend quality time with friends and family. Planning is difficult so I will embrace being spontaneous and improvising when I need to. I want to get to the end of this year and be able to look back with a big smile on my face and think 2018 was a great year.
Mix and Match Mama says
Jo, spontaneous is a great word for this year! I should adopt that one too!! And I love your upbeat outlook 😉 .
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
I won’t lie after reading your blog for many years I am shocked to see get more sleep! I’ve always been envious of people who could sleep less and be productive in their days. I agree though that just a little more sleep really helps! I also love how you broke down all these resolutions. I’m the type of girl who likes to focus on an overall theme, similar to the one you picked last year, I want to focus more in each area of my life. Thanks for sharing, Shay!

Susan says
Thanks for the inspiration, Shay! Now I have to ask, how did you teach yourself to do a handstand?? Did Smith teach you??
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahaha! It’s all of those yoga videos he and I both watch 😉 .
Sheaffer Sims says
GREAT goals! And HECK YES to the more sleep!
Narci Dreffs says
I love these goals, friend!! They are so thoughtful and reasonable! The perfect kind of goal! Also, I AM SO IMPRESSEDBY YOUR HANDSTAND. Girl, that’s takes skills!!
Elspeth Mizner says
Great goals and resolutions! I too want to work on getting my sleep. And i didn’t ever think
About changing my lunches up. So happy you a w back to blogging Shay!

We definitely need to unplug more, family time is so limited already. Love your goals, I might have to make some of them mine. 😉

My husband and I have organized a “mission” trip (we call it a volunteer vacation) yearly for the past 18 years. We have gone to only third world countries, and the more remote/rustic they are the better they are. We take 18 friends, and we do a lot of good and have a lot of fun. We have been to some amazing places and touched many lives. This year we are going to Nicaragua. (My husband is there right now getting everything set up. He always goes to the country and gets things organized first.) We love working with nuns and their projects because we have learned over the years that they are the most organized when it comes to getting a lot accomplished while we are there.
Nicole says
Love this! Do you ever take yoga classes at your gym or studio? Also, once you have your stable lunches…will you share? 😉
Nicole says
Staple** ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I don’t as often as I would like, but yes, I do. Annnnnnnd…urg, what do I have? I nibble. I eat a lot of random things. Salads are an easy go to, but it’s mostly a hodgepodge of stuff.
Laura says
You should check out YogaGlo! It’s a monthly subscription to online yoga classes. Various types of yoga and the instructors are fantastic!
Mix and Match Mama says
Checking it out now!!
Alexis deZayas says
I too am working on memorizing scripture!! I read somewhere that having scripture in your heart is literally storing God’s word in your heart to lean on and come back to throughout your day (sound obvious but really hit me) so it’s a resolution for me too. I’m also trying to do one random act of kindness a week 🙂
Nikki says
I’m working to memorize a verse a week as well!! When I was younger my mom had us memorize whole chapters, and I want to get back to that!
Whitney Pegram says
Such great goals!! And Unstuffed is the best!!
Emily says
Great New Years resolutions. I too am more of a new school year new improvements kind of gal. You should check out 30A in Florida Rosemary Beach is absolutely beautiful!
Shannon says
I’ve dreamed of going abroad for a mission trip so if that idea ever comes to fruition and its a global scale, please share! I am always trying to find the “right” mission that speak to my heart. GREAT goals, thanks for sharing!
Lauren says
Hey Shay! Thanks for sharing your 2018 goals with us! I was never a new year resolution/goal setter… I think honestly out the fear that I wouldn’t accomplish what I set out to do. But recently I was introduced to a YouTube podcast by Terri Savelle Foy. Not sure if you have ever heard of her, but in her podcasts she talks about how to be more intentional with your time and how to best set out to achieve your goals. I have found it extremely helpful 🙂 she is also a Christian and speaks a lot about scripture and God’s word which has helped me achieve goals as well. Oh and she is from Texas too! Not sure if you would find value in listening to her or not, but I figured I would pass along the info! Thanks again for sharing with us!
Kelli Kelly says
I leave Saturday for a mission trip. 🙂 I plan and take about 3 a year, all to the same place. We fly into San Diego and drive down to Vicente Guerrero, Baja, Mexico. It’s amazing. I’ve been doing it since I was 16 (I’m now 34.) I work alongside missionaries at Eternal Anchor, an orphanage and school for special needs children. There are so many opportunities to serve! I’m so excited for you! If you need any help planning, shoot me a message! I’ll be praying for you!
Kerry L Dorman says
wow! that’s awesome!
Angela Ellingson says
Such well-rounded goals! My goals this year can be summed up into God. Plan. Move. (Inspired by Hello Mornings.) Your headstand is no joke! I just did a blogilates YouTube video yesterday. Love your recommendations!
Brooke Richardson says
I think your sleep goal and adoption advocacy made me the most excited but they are all great!!!!
Yoga Girl says
I have been reading your blog for several years and you always speak to my heart with whatever topic you write about, but it made me so happy to see a picture of you doing yoga. Since I can’t do my usual yoga practice because I am recovering from an injury, I am trying to enjoy watching others do it. I didn’t know how much you enjoy yoga so thank you for sharing that. It really brightened my day. Kudos to you for practicing with your children too. Love your blog! I just wanted to share that with you because sometimes we don’t realize all the little ways we touch other people’s hearts and “connect.”
Kelly Chen says
Ok, I’m very impressed with your headstand. You’ve convinced me I need to sign up for a yoga class!
Laci says
Sleep is what this mama has to have to function and not be hateful. I have learned that sleep makes me healthier, nicer, and a better mom. LOL…hey at least I can admit it. Since my son has stopped participating in travel ball I have slept more and it’s been life changing. I was honestly shocked to read that as a goal of yours but you will not regret it. I love your blog-thanks for sharing your life with us! We love you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I was shocked that it was one of my goals too 😉 .
Sara says
One goal of mine is to read your 2nd and 1st choice books from 2017! Already on my Kindle!
Ranisa says
Check out the app LDS ponderize. It is great for scripture reading and memorizing. You can enter your own text and pick backgrounds and things. Anyone can use it. It has The King James Version of the Bible but you can customize things. Super nice.
Miranda says
I haven’t linked up because, well, my resolutions just aren’t in order quite yet…hah! Love your goals however, especially the one regarding traveling some place new. We are a Disney and NYC loving family. Anytime we book a trip it’s always to one of those two places, we just can’t imagine spending the money and not enjoying it at one of those two, but the Lord made such a big, beautiful world, we need to get out and see more of it!

I love these!! Can we get together and talk mission trip!?! I would love to hear what you are thinking! Need to get my goals down. Seems transitioning is hard 😉
Tracy says
I hope you’ll blog about your lunches. I need help in that area too! Good for you getting more sleep. And I have no idea how you read so much with four young kiddos! I have two kids and when they were younger I never would have been about to read the amount you do!
Kerry L Dorman says
Mission Trip!! That’s so awesome, I went to Egypt last Summer and it was extraordinary! It’s amazing how we go on mission trips with the hope that we can touch a life for Christ! We go prayed up and ready to show Gods love and mercy and share the gospel but we are way more impacted that the people group we are witnessing to. God can really move you spiritually and bless you in ways that you didn’t know were possible. To be able to go and see God’s creation and all of these people groups, wow! I really want to go with 147 Million Orphans ASAP! I’d love to see how this goal pans out for you… who knows, maybe we could serve together one day!
Anna S says
I always consider my birthday my new years but this year I find myself making goals right now. The biggest goal I have is filling my mind and my heart with good things that make me a better person by stepping away from social media/ mindless things on the internet and reading books instead. I have so many on my list that I think you would also love to read. 1. The Power of Intention- Wayne Dyer 2. Daring Greatly- Brené Brown 3. Rising Strong-Brené Brown 4. Loving What Is- Byron Katie Wishing you a happy, healthy, productive, and successful 2018, Shay!
KimW says
Anna – me, too! I would also like to take a step back from mindless internet things and even step away from blogs that are constantly showing new sweater purchases, etc. Seem like so many people are focusing on material things instead of the things that matter. I want to read more, too!
Debbie Ricks says
loved things broken down into categories!! Totally doing this!!
Angela Sharbono says
Loved this post! Your New Years goals have added to my contemplation of what I want to focus on this year. I would love to see your monthly goals shared again this year. I really received a lot of inspiration from them. I hope you year is all that you want it to be!:)
Holly says
A few years ago, I also made it one of my goals to memorize more scripture. I joined Beth Moore’s Sister Scripture Memory Team (I think she only does it every other year) as accountability. She encourages everyone to memorize a new verse every 2 weeks. She says that over the years she has found this to be the best pace for most people – any more and you tend to not retain/fall behind, any less and the impact is negligible. Not saying that to discourage you from memorizing a new verse every week – I know you’re a big girl and can both do it if you put your mind to it, as well as adjust at a later time if needed. I just found that to be really wise advice that turned out to truly benefit me, so I wanted to share! Good luck in working toward all of your goals this year! Would so love to read a progress post a couple of times throughout the year – what has worked, what has not, etc. You are so inspiring to me!
Melissa says
Lunches are super hard for me too. I am just not going to make myself a full salad when I’m home. When I’m at my office (3 days per week), I eat soup or salad or something from a nearby place. It’s probably healthier than the cookie/candy bar I reach for at my house!! I do like frozen burritos so that has been a life saver. Perhaps something to try too – and the kids like them so they make a good quick pre-sports dinner if I need it.
Katelyn says
I bought Unstuffed last night after reading your recommendations. I bought it through iBooks on my iphone and it was $1.99. Yes, a $1.99!! Everyone should go buy it now! Can’t wait to read it!

First, IMPRESSIVE headstand. Love it! Love all of your goals, and am inspired by your passion for adoption. I have learned so much about it reading your blog.

Day dates are our favorite! My hubs and I always pick a couple of days each year, we both take off from work, and we spend the entire day together – breakfast out, lunch out, shopping, a movie. We usually do one of these in late Nov/early Dec and we Christmas shop for the kids that day! It’s SO MUCH FUN! I always look forward to those.
Sarah says
Love this post especially your goal about yoga! I want to slowly but surely incorporate yoga into my daily life and look forward to starting with the video you listed! Today I linked up and wrote about the word I’m adopting this year which is “bloom”. I’m looking to grow and flourish in several areas of my life this year and will be using bloom to keep me on track.
KimW says
More books for me, too, this year! I would also like to try to sneak in a few more non-fiction books because I don’t tend to pick those up usually. I am also vowing to step away from blogs that are too focused on material things… it is difficult to follow bloggers who just seem to shop non-stop and I am going to be more intentional about my purchases and appreciating what I already have.
Julie says
thank you for sharing your resolutions with us… I am going to try a few of these.. Yes go on those lunch dates with your hubby… My husband and I have a lunch date every day (we work 5min from each other) and its the only time of day we can really sit down and talk. Once we leave work and get home it’s go go go with the kids until bedtime and then we are exhausted 🙂 It’s my absolute favorite time of the day and it never gets old!
Sascha says
I love this post! For me, setting an intention every year works well. Last year one of our goals was to take our 8 year old twin boys on a mission trip. My husband took them to the Dominican Republic on a BASEBALL mission trip! They use baseball to open the door share the gospel. My father has done this for 8 years and we were excited that our boys could go. Next year our whole family is going to go. SCORE is a great organization https://scoreintl.org/product/featured/november-baseball/

Great goals Shay!! Sleep is on my list too. Also, just found Unstuffed for $1.99 on Kindle!
Emily says
Thanks for sharing this! I commented a couple weeks ago about how you commit to your goals and follow through. I think I was ready to achieve and execute after seeing your steps shared. Instead, my biggest take away, was the reminder of the foundation for all these goals. To be in the Word daily first and foremost then the by-product of that daily discipline is the fuel for the goals throughout the year.
Kristy Moore says
Yea! I love posts about resolutions, goals, etc. It’s so motivating. I can help with the travel somewhere new….time to come to Calgary, Canada! A beautiful place of the world! 🙂

I have never been much of a resolution girl, it always seems so overwhelming! I love your idea for choosing a goal for each area of your life! Breaking it down that way might actually work for me. Guess I know what I will be doing over the course of the next several days!
The idea of living with intention really resonates with me too. With all of the distractions in our daily lives I feel it is so important to focus on the things that really matter.
Great post – thank you for sharing!

Hey shay!! Headstand is on point!! Love your 2018 goals! Just wanted to drop a little note on the mission trip–my brother and sister in law packed up their family a year ago this month and moved to Guatemala to be dorm parents for an orphanage. They are currently doing some awesome things especially in regards to helping establish a dialysis hospital on the grounds of orphanage. We are taking our kids there this summer–it is very kid friendly, they are 9 and 7. The orphanage is called Casa Aleluya.

I enjoy crossing items off a list too. But spontaneous is a good goal as well. Enjoy your busy life, travel, kids, activities etc! The days go fast with little ones. I’m an “empty nester” and I’m missing those busy days with young kids… But I sure enjoy a slower pace now! Goals for me this year are to connect more with friends and family and to be thankful and content. It’s a process!
Kristy says
I forgot to ask a question on my last post! Kinda sensative topic. How do you deal with negative ‘Christian’ comments about yoga? I recently heard someone speak for 30 minutes as to why Christians should not practice yoga. I’m really struggling with this one. Just looking for other opinions.
Mix and Match Mama says
I think, just like anything, it’s what you personally make of it. I don’t make anything spiritual out of it.
Tina says
Would love to hear about the places you are considering for getaways.
I started a blog and an Etsy shop. I haven’t told anyone yet…not even my husband. It’s a small dream that is still forming up in my brain. I’m afraid to look like a fool if I can’t make it happen so for now I will keep it close. But my goal is to find the courage to step out of my comfort zone. Maybe some day I will link my blog up…but today isn’t that day…I’m too scared

Suggestion for lunch. Make our lunch the night before while cleaning up after dinner. It only takes a few minutes and then bam, you can grab it on the run or pop it in the microwave. I do this for my snacks and lunch. It’s the only reason I eat during the day. Cheers to 2018!!!!

Love these! Question: do you wake up early and do your quiet time/bible reading on the weekends? I’m working towards reading the whole bible this year but weekends are so wacky I’m having a hard time figuring out how to keep up with the schedule on them!

I use the Read Scripture app and it’s fantastic! It also has excellent videos that help explain key points. Under settings, you can set it for the day you start and it will keep track of your readings for each day!

Knowing that you’re a Christian, have you been to Israel? I went a few years ago, and it is literally life-changing!

Love these goals. Question: how are you picking scripture to memorize? I know I would benefit from a similar goal this year!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, I was doing my quiet time last week and this week and just found scripture I like…so, I’m thinking I might do it that way. Some weeks, I might memorize some of the “standards”, but that’s how I’ve done it the last two weeks.

Love these and and I am so thankful you are an adoption advocate and share! It’s been so helpful as we go through our own adoption. I pray I can pay it forward and encourage others in the process too! Inch by inch we are getting closer to our son! xoxo ERIN

I’ve been memorizing more scripture myself! I just heard about this app called Verses that helps you memorize the verses. You can choose which translation you want to use and then it has all these fun games and memory tricks to to test you on them. It was free so I’ve been testing it out. Taking your advice on the One-Year Bible has been a great addition to my morning routine. So far I’ve memorized Psalm 23, John 3:16, Mark 12:30 and Psalm 1:2. I was trying to decide which verses were the most important for me to remember, so I’m looking for the next one.
