Oh heavens…friends, if you are perhaps a little glum today, please, please, please head here…
…to the FUNNY FRIDAY highlights on my Instagram and read all of these funny memes from Friday. I am telling you, YOU WILL LAUGH! Andrew and I were crying we were laughing so hard!!
(And needless to say, since it’s both Monday and Day 568 of quarantine, I’m sure you need a laugh too).
In the meantime, here’s a little look at life lately. Spoiler alert: we’re at home.
Well, if this pic doesn’t just sum up Madeley, I don’t know what does! On days when it’s been over 70, we’ve heated the pool and let the kids swim.
Speaking of Madeley, she came to interview me because she was a detective. In a swimsuit. That’s how we’re rolling these days.
Fifth grade never looked so cozy.
We were outside playing before dinner…these are my babies.
How sweet is this pic?! When did she get so BIG???? I just can’t believe it!
Last week, we used butcher paper quite a bit with our school work. One day, I even made their daily “to do” list on it in really big letters, hung it up and they would mark things off as they did them. I’m trying to change things up a bit every day to keep them having fun. Side note, I asked her why she crossed out her original G and she said “it looked too much like a 6” which is why she snuck it in there at the beginning. Ha!
This boss lady is just trying to survive most days.
Cozy time with my Ashby Lu!
I’m really trying to look for silver linings. One of them is how much time these two bigs are spending together. Typically, this time of year, they would both have so much on their plate with sports and school, so I’m reallllllly happy to see this time together.
I walked by the stairs and they were sitting there like this…which 100% means they were up to no good.
Writing letters and receiving them have become something the kids look forward to every day! We write our friends and they write us back. We’ve gone back in time to 1987 when I had a penpal.
Look how close she is sitting to me in the kitchen. She’s doing school work, and I’m doing work…and that smile is there because she just asked me to scoot her closer. Bahaha! I mean, I don’t even think that’s possible, Madeley!
On Saturday morning, we went for a walk with the dogs…it’s basically just moving chaos down the street.
I love all of these people so much!
I should really do a wardrobe check before we leave the house 😉 .
Okay, I hope you all have a great start to your week! Sending you so much love!!! xo

Seriously impressed with Madeley’s handwriting, and Kensington legitimately looks 15 (which makes me want to bawl).

Confession: I used to think you were crazy for getting up so many hours before your kids. However, quarantine has taught me the need for it!! I’m not as dedicated as you with the 4:30 wake up call (more like 7 ish) but just an hour alone in the mornings has been a game changer for us! ?
Mix and Match Mama says
YAY!!!!! You have no idea how much I love hearing this!!

I love that canvas wall in your hallway!! Two quick questions: where do you buy your canvases and what do you do with the your canvases that aren’t hanging/have been replaced by new ones? Have a great week!
Mix and Match Mama says
We just keep adding them on our walls (so we haven’t replaced any). We always get them from canvaspeople.com but google them first because there is always a promo!
Wendy says
What size canvas prints do you order? How do you have enough wall space for the canvas walls and the birthday sign wall!?
Mix and Match Mama says
20×16 🙂
Julie says
Thanks so much for sharing this happy post today! I admire how upbeat you keep everything even during hard times. Today is (or was?) the Boston Marathon so here in MA we are really feeling it :(. Usually such a fun day to gather with friends and neighbors and watch the amazing runners. Anyway, thanks for the cheerful start to the day!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m supposed to be there!!!! I’m so sad that we missed our games this week!!!!!!!!

Do you mind sharing where you order your large canvas prints from? I am trying to put together a playroom for our grandkids and these would be perfect. Thanks in advance!
Mix and Match Mama says

“Moving chaos down the street”. LOL. One summer night we were 4 humans and 2 dogs walking. in down our street. 8 human and 8 dog legs, totaling 16 legs. I think you beat our total!
Mix and Match Mama says
When you add it up like that…WOW!!!
Brandye says
Love this little look into your life. You’re (& Anddrew) are handling quarantine so well. I miss my kids being home with us. (Yep, I miss that chaos. It’s too quiet around here.) And, I know it’s hard. Not every moment is what we see here or on Instagram. I just wanted you to know as a teacher and mama, I think you all are crushing it. Thanks for shining a light that it can be done. BTW, Madely is going to be one of the best kindergarteners EVER! She’s ready!
Mix and Match Mama says
SHE IS SO READY!!!! 😉 Thank you, Brandye! Happy Monday!!
Karah Stracener says
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that feels like we are just surviving. I am loving our lazy mornings and all the family time but there are hard days too. Thanks for sharing a little life lately. Your kiddos sure are growing up fast.
Mix and Match Mama says
There certainly are. xx
Megan says
So fun! Would love to know where you are shopping for K’s clothes…I have a daughter the same age and I feel like it’s a little hard…she’s not a little girl anymore, but not ready for young adult either 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say mostly Gap, old navy, j crew and Nordstrom (a random assortment from each!).
Laur says
Is Andrew still able to work, or is he working from home now?
Mix and Match Mama says
He is able to both depending on his clients’ needs.
Jamie says
Kensington has the cutest smile! Love that picture of her and Yankee!:)
Cyndie says
Happy Monday! Just curious, are Kensington and Smith in your front yard? We know you have a wooded area in the back of your house, but I see a road or bike path. I love that you have what looks like a small lake in your neighborhood. Can you use it for any activities? Thanks for keeping us posted on your daily life!! You do life well.
Mix and Match Mama says
They are in my front yard in that pic! Our house is in a cool spot because we don’t have neighbors really on three out of the four sides of us, so it’s a lot of green space. There is a lake in our neighborhood and you can certainly use it to fish, kayak, paddleboard, etc. 🙂
Diane says
Love, love, love your pool and a pool is a must have to embrace the Texas heat! How do you heat your pool and is it costly? I’m sure looking forward to pool time with the grandkids this summer! I am beginning to wonder if life will really return to normal until their is a vaccine. Hugs from Waco!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hugs to you too, Diane!!! And we don’t keep it heated round the clock, just to bring it up to temp on days when we get in.
Alison T. says
The carpet on your stairs!! I love it!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you!!!
Ashley says
Would you mind sharing the size of your canvas prints?
