Happy Thursday, friends!
I have so many random things to share that I decided to just lump them all in one post.
It’s a little life lately, a little fall, and a whole lot of October happiness.
If you’re in the mood to be in a good mood, this post is for you…
Last week, I told Madeley she looked boo-tiful…
…she told me she had a boo-ty.
I have no words.
She’s too sweet and too precious and yet TOO QUICK for her mom! Ha!
Okay, are you ready to see my new obsession?
I am like giddy over this.
Are you ready?
It’s sheer happiness…
…it’s my new waffle iron (that I put gluten-free Trader Joe’s pumpkin pancake mix in)…
…and out come pumpkin shaped waffles…
…and I’m GIDDY EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! How cute, right?! It’s my new favorite thing! It’s so easy to use, they’re so cute, and it’s so fun that my kids and I can’t quit with them in the mornings. They would make cuuuuuuute gifts this season too!!! You can find a set of two Halloween irons HERE or a ton of individual irons HERE.
So, we use this pancake mix here…
…but you could totally use any other mix too. This is seasonal at Trader Joe’s. Speaking of which…
…I already shared my TRADER JOE’S FALL HAUL with you (make sure you read that HERE), but this week, I found a few other fall goodies…
…you all told me that since I love the maple oat beverage, I needed to try the pumpkin (of course!), so I did this week and LOVE IT! It’s great in my lattes or just a splash in my coffee!
This, this, this, this, THIS! It’s so delicious that I bought two loaves! Thank you, Trader Joe’s, for remembering your g-free friends!!!
I mean…yes.
Okay, this is so delicious!! I love their pumpkin butter (on the jam aisle), but this different. This is more for your charcuterie board and less for your morning toast. You should include it with…
…my Trader Joe’s Fall Charcuterie Board!!
You can see all of the details on how I make it and which items I use HERE!
Life lately has been all about fall…and sports…
…I’ve had so many questions about Kensington going to school early for volleyball practice. At most Texas public schools, they split the time between the grades so that there is gym/field room for everyone. So that means, that at our school, all 7th grade sports practice before school and then 8th grade sports will practice after school. Sweet K has been a trooper about being at school by 6:45 every morning!
This sweet kid will be doing that next year when he can play school sports!
I can plan a “let’s bake a fun recipe together” mom moment for weeks and it never works out…and then sometimes, I walk into the kitchen and my kids are baking something yummy and fall on their own. I just love when that happens. On Saturday, I found these two in there baking together 🙂 .
Frenchie is breaking a big house rule right now…but geez…how cute is she?! Out of all the dogs, she’s the most calm, most zen, most chill, most cooperative…she’s basically a perfect little four pound fluff ball.
Fall is in the air, friends! We’re here for it!
Back when Kensington and Smith were babies, we had all the time in the world to take an entire day at the pumpkin patch. Now, Andrew and I take the little girls up to the grocery store to pick out their pumpkins and you know what? THEY LOVE IT! They were so excited and picked the perfect pumpkins for their room (and my office).
I know Mades gets lots of love with…
…her selfie (and now selfie+editing) skills. I’m constantly finding these pics on my phone. Well, she’s not the only one who sees mom’s phone laying around and snaps a pic or two…
…this one here will haunt me in my nightmares. Bahahaha! Why is he so creepy?!
Friends, if you missed my FALL HOME TOUR last week, please come on in!!
There is fall goodness everywhere 🙂 . You can read the post HERE.
Fall goodness?
Well, you should check out today’s recipe…
…DELICIOUS!!! We make ours g-free, but you can totally use a normal all-purpose flour too! The best part? You only use one bowl. These delicious brownies could not be simpler!
If you missed yesterday’s post…
…you can catch all of my Savory & Sweet Pumpkin Recipes HERE!
That’s a little this and that for your Thursday! I hope you all go out and have the BEST day!!! xx

Oh that pumpkin waffle iron is ADORABLE! Will you put it away with your fall decor when you take it down? And can you share a link to the girls’ cute “BOO” shirts?
Mix and Match Mama says
Good question…I think I might keep it out just because it’s so cute!
Erika Slaughter says
What a perfect-get you in the fall spirit-post!
Sheaffer Sims says
I can’t wait to find your phone lying around to grab a quick selfie.
Mix and Match Mama says
I would laugh so hard!
Nicole says
I’m heading to Trader Joe’s today! I’m wondering, when you buy those pumpkin loaves, or your kids bake, do you ever eat it too?
Mix and Match Mama says
I eat them too, but mostly, I’ve been serving them for breakfast. Just this morning, Kensington took a turkey Caesar salad to school with a slice for her lunch later today!
Elsprrh says
What a fun post! Thanks so much for sharing!! Have a great Thursday!

Dana P says
Love this one, so many happy things! That waffle maker is especially fun. I love how you just make each season special. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you, Dana!!!! I really try. xx
Alicia says
You should try TJ Cinnamon Bun spread (in the jam area) on your pumpkin treats! (Waffles, bread, bagels) It is amazing!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I did!!! Oh my word, crazy good!!
Susan Jeffries says
Oh I love that waffle iron! I am always looking for fun gifts to send in the mail to my daughter in college! This is perfect!
Mix and Match Mama says
How adorable is that?! I can totally see myself doing the same in a few years!!
Kara says
What does one do with cinnamon sticks?! ??
Mix and Match Mama says
We stick them in drinks!! I’ll garnish hot chocolate, hot (or cold) seasonal adult beverages…they’re great “stir sticks” : ).
Rebecca Jo Vincent says
Its the little things. I saw that waffle maker for sale & was like, Well, I could use it for September – November – totally worth the money 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It gives me so much joy to make them! Really, when we stop appreciating the little things, life gets harder.
Katherine A Darlington says
you ask why is Smith’s picture so creepy, I ask how can I get those lashes? They even look curled! I’m envious!
Mix and Match Mama says
I wonder that too!!! The milk man?! 😉
Carly says
This was so fun Shay! Not sure if you are still reading fall/Halloween books but someone recommended to me yesterday “The Ex Hex” looks like a Halloween rom com in a book and I immediately thought of you!
Ashley says
Kensington has practice before school so she takes her clothes and changes in locker room before school starts? What time does her school start?
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s right! Middle school starts at 8:45 which is why our morning drop off routine is really 2 hours (she has to be there by 6:45, the little girls, 8:00 and Smith, 8:45). Agh!
Kathy says
I use my Dash waffle iron to fix an egg in the morning. I spray it with Pam and then just crack and egg and close the lid. It just takes a couple of minutes and then I eat it on a toasted english muffin. Sometimes I add a slice of cheese after I open the lid of the Dash. So good and so quick
Mix and Match Mama says
NO WAY?! I am trying that in the morning!!!!!
Carrie says
Yup! We have done this for awhile, I have a flower one that also could look like a snowflake. But omelets in our bigger one is also amazing!
Sara says
Hi Shay! We too have a 2-hour long morning kiddo drop-off and throughout the chaos (that I actually love, but ya know….craziness!), I am secretly envisioning a quiet house, a cup of coffee, and my daily dose of Mix & Match Mama:) Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and life with us! Happy almost-Friday!
With love, a Boston Mama
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! YOU enjoy beautiful Boston!!!! Thank you!!
MelanieL says
Oh my, Frenchie in the window next to Kensington is my favorite pic from today…so sweet.
Debbie says
Shay, I read your post every day and don’t always have the time to comment. I look forward to reading them, takes me away from all the problems in the world! Your home is so beautiful and I love your fall decor! You are right, Smiths selfie is very scary! ??
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Debbie! Thank YOU so much!!!! I am so thankful for this platform to share all of the little things and bits of happiness. God bless YOU!!
Dawn says
My take away from that whole post was seeing Madely’s coffee maker is STILL right next to yours. I need her to never grow up. Thank you and Amen.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh, this comment could make me cry! Yes, yes, YES!! It’s so sweet of you to notice.
Lauren says
So for one, we also have that pumpkin waffle maker and it makes me so happy!! Also, it totally looks like Frenchie is posing in that pic of her and Kensington sitting on the window sill. 🙂
Karah Stracener says
I love that mini pumpkin waffle maker. We have the mini heart one and now I must get the pumpkin one. The kids selfies are too funny. You have a beautiful family. I so wish we had a TJs close by. The closest one is 1.5 hours away ?
Kacy M says
“Booty” hahahaha
Haley S says
That selfie of Smith looks like he’s looking into your soul ?
Mix and Match Mama says
And it’s scaring the heck out of me. Bahahaha!
Kristy says
What a perfect post to kick off our Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada! I think I’ll be adding those pumpkin brownies onto my cooking/baking list for the weekend. 🙂
Also, is Kensington wearing make-up in that selfie? Those look like mascara filled lashes! (how is she that old already!)
Mix and Match Mama says
A little bit, she is! That was one of her gifts when she turned 13 🙂 .
Michele says
Oh Mades with her twerking self makes me happy.
