Eeeeeks! I’m so excited!!!!
I’m pulling out the big guns today!
You guys, this year, I have received SO MANY requests for me to share more about…
…LOVIE!
(Also referred to as Sherry…or…Mom 🙂 ).
Basically when I read your “please blog about…” requests, you people only want to hear about Andrew and my mom. I really should just get out of the way over here and let them take over all the time while I read a book or something 😉 .
First let me tell you a bit about my mama…
Sherry (a.k.a. Lovie to her 7 grandkids) is by trade an interior designer. Growing up, my mom worked fulltime but always had lots of time for Sean and me. I didn’t realize how challenging that was or how well she did it until I was doing it as a mom. Since my mom is an interior designer, as you can imagine, her home is her true love. My mom has taught me many, many, many things in life but one of the most profound is that we should take pride in our homes (no matter how big or small) and fill it with items, finds, treasures, people and food we love. Always burn a candle that makes it smell nice, always play relaxing music, go big when decorating for holidays, tidy up often so that at any time anyone can show up and it looks nice, make your bed every single morning, always have a stack of books on your bedside table for reading, have a dog you love, take care of your yard, have a ton of pillows and blankets for making it cozy, brew coffee frequently and create a space you want to live in.
If you follow my mom on Instagram (and you should!) @loweinteriors, you’ll see her feed is filled with two things: photos of her home and yard (her yard is immaculate!) and pictures of her family. My mom has had Lovie Days (you can read about my kids’ Lovie Days HERE) since Kensington was born where she takes one day a week and spends the whole day with her grandkids. She started with Kensington and now, she’s down to mostly just Miss Mia (and a bit of the boys when they’re not in school). She loves being a Lovie.
Buuuuuuuuut…you ladies have sent me SO MANY requests for this interior designer who spends her days outside with her grandkids to share WHAT SHE WEARS. Ha! I asked my mom if I could share her favorite items for spring and summer that she wears on repeat…her staple pieces, her “capsule” wardrobe…with you ladies today, and she said yes 🙂 .
This post is going to be similar to my 25 KEYS TO A PEACEFUL MORNING as when my mom sent me her favorite items for each category, she elaborated on some and not on others. All of these things though, she loves and wears regularly when the weather gets warmer. I thought I could share this one now and then another one in the fall and winter when the weather turns cool.
So, here we go (in her voice, not mine)…
LOVIE’S SPRING AND SUMMER CAPSULE WARDROBE:
TOPS: I love the sleeve length and colors of THIS TOP. THIS is the top I wore for Easter. I love the color and sleeve length of THIS TOP. I am always looking for a little bit more sleeve at my age. THIS is the perfect t-shirt for me.
SHORTS: I love the length of THESE shorts!
JEANS: I love all MOTHER jeans. You can get them in any length/color. They come low to high waist and have stretch.
PANTS (not jeans): I love THESE check pants! Just got them! THESE are the pants I wore for Easter. I love them!
JACKET: I have THIS JEAN JACKET in three different colors. It’s a nice weight all year long.
SWIMSUITS: I love THIS TOP for swimming and I always love my SWIM SHORTS.
SANDALS: I love all the colors of THESE sandals. I also love my Valentino’s. I would rather have a great pair of sandals than a dozen cheap pair. Same with…
HANDBAG: One really nice bag makes me so happy. Buying nice bags is one of the perks of being older and having my kids out of the house. I love THIS ONE.
SNEAKERS: I always thought I had aged out of Golden Goose, but my daughter changed my mind and I love them! I bought THIS PAIR.
BRACELETS: My favorite bracelets are from Julie Vos and Allie+Bess.
Yay! Thank you SO MUCH to my mom for sharing! My mom’s a funny thing…she goes to great length, care and detail to cultivate the most beautiful home and yard…but her style is so effortless because that’s not a priority to her. Her house is a priority. Her style is accidentally super chic and classic. I love that! Whether you find her on IG in her yard, chasing her grandkids around at the zoo, at dinner or traveling, my mama is ALWAYS so perfectly (and easily!) put together. Isn’t that the true definition of style?
I hope all of you out there who requested this blog post have enjoyed it! I can dive deeper into Lovie life later on this year, but in the meantime, this is what you’ll find her wearing as the weather gets warmer.
Also…one of my MOST POPULAR RECIPES for spring and summer came from my mom, so I thought I’d share that again today in her honor too 🙂 . You can see it HERE.
I’m off now to enjoy my Thursday. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for the prayers, love and well wishes yesterday. My family is so thankful for each and every one of you! xx
