Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
You guys, it’s the first What’s Up Wednesday of 2023! I just went back to look, and Sheaffer and I have been doing this monthly link up now for EIGHT YEARS! Thank you SO much to all of you who have been linking up with us over the last eight years. We are excited to do it again this year with you too!
Okay, as always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Here we go…
Well, Andrew and I have been eating well in France…
…we enjoyed so many wonderful meals, crepes and cappuccinos!
Eating when it’s cold outside is just way more fun, right?!
Being in Paris this last week has me thinking about two things…
…first, it has me thinking back to our trip to London last January…
…from Windsor to an Arsenal game, a pub tour and so much more, we had the best time! Andrew and I have decided that we LOVE going to Europe in the winter.
I’ve also been reminiscing about…
…the last time we were in Paris 🙂 . Look how little these three were! This was pre-Madeley!
My new waterproof boots are oh so comfy, cute and kept my (no-sock!) toes all dry and warm as I walked miles and miles in Paris. I also really love my coat too!
If you’ve missed my daily recaps from our time here in Paris, make sure you go back and catch them. Each night, I blogged a bit about that day’s adventures. From Paris to Honfleur to Normandy, you can catch PARIS: #1, PARIS #2 , PARIS #3and PARIS #4! I have one more post coming up next week where I’ll round up the other details (where we stayed, etc).
Being home with my sweet kiddos!
The teens (agh, how awful that I now have two teenagers?! Insert me crying here) have a fun church thing this weekend, but in between that, we have a lot of ‘nothing but hanging out’ on our calendar.
Okay…I quit on Yellowstone after 4 seasons.
I just don’t have it in me to watch 1883. I’m sorry. I just have zero desire.
BUT…
…so many people have told me that I will LOVE 1923, so I’ve started it.
Is it unconventional to watch this one and not the others? Yes.
Am I going to do it anyway?! Yes. Yes, I am. 🙂
Also…my JANUARY BOOK REVIEW is next week! I’m already so excited to share it with you! Stay tuned!
Right this minute, I’m in our hotel room and Andrew has on Curb Your Enthusiasm…which makes me laugh hysterically every time I watch it.
Here’s a little recap of what I’ve been wearing this week on our trip:
MY FURRY COAT and SEQUIN SKIRT are oh so fun!
These BOOTS! You guys! I am obsessed with them and right now, they’re on sale!
See this outfit here? I walked 10 MILES in THESE BOOTS, LEGGINGS and SWEATER (also on sale!). So comfy!
FUR COAT, ONE SHOULDER BODYSUIT, PAPERBAG PANTS and HEELS for the win!
Here it is without the coat.
On this day, my favorite JEANS, BOOTS and SWEATER (on sale!).
FLEECE TURTLENECK, BLACK JEANS, SOREL BOOTS
And on my flight here, I wore the most comfortable jumpsuit !
A whole lot of laundry and hangin’ with my kiddos!
I’m hoping for lots of cozy nights at home before our spring sports schedule gets busy.
Thanks to YOU, I bought these microfiber cloths for my mirrors and windows. After I told you that cleaning those things are two of my least favorite chores, so many of you recommend these towels. I even had friends texting me about them too. They’re already so much better than what I had been using. THANK YOU for the rec!!
That’s it for this Wednesday! By the time you read this post, I’ll be flying back home. I am going to take tomorrow off from blogging to work on Mix and Match Travel Agency things, but I will be back here on Friday.
If you blogged What’s Up Wednesday too, make sure you link up below.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! I’ll see you on Friday! xx

Your trip sounds amazing and the food looks divine! Thanks so much for hosting this fun link up with Sheaffer.
Bailey says
You HAVE to watch 1883!! Not for the sake of the other shows but because it really is so good. I felt like it portrayed the hardships of those times so well. 1923 is just as good! Both are better than Yellowstone.
Jen Silberstein says
I agree! I gasped when she said she wasn’t going watch 1883! Shay you have to!! Ugh it’s so so good. Way better than Yellowstone. But it all ties together.
Elspeth Mizner says
I love these posts! Hope you had a great trip!

I loved 1883 more than Yellowstone so you really should watch! I love 1923 as well. Yes there are some really painful scenes, but not as bad as the school in 1923. I think they will help you understand so much more about the Yellowstone series as well as a trip to Montana. I have a whole different level of understanding since we returned from Montana last summer.
Taylor says
So I also gave up on Yellowstone ..but 1883 and 1923 are SOOO much better than the show. 1883 is so good..Tim and faith are amazing in it. 1923 has been amazing so far, as well.
Kristen says
Great outfits! How did you fit all those coats in your luggage?
Mix and Match Mama says
Packing cubes. Those things are miracle workers!
Kristen says
I have bought the cubes by your recommendation and they do work great.. never thought to put coats in. lol!
Mix and Match Mama says
It will change the way you pack! I put everythinggggg in them!
Stephanie says
If we already have flights and hotels booked, will your agency book tours and transfers only?
Mix and Match Mama says
Unfortunately, no, but please, please, please let us know and next time, we’d love to help!
Joanne says
I’m the total opposite! I gave up on both Yellowstone and 1923 after just 1 or 2 episodes but 1883 sucked me right in. Hope you have a great trip home and the jet lag isn’t too bad.. I remember sleeping through the family 4th of July party the year I came home from France and feeling like such a zombie.
Debbie C says
Your trip was fabulous but how big a bag did you take to have boots and boots and more???
Mix and Match Mama says
We each brought our big Tumi suitcases for this one. Thanks to packing cubes, it wasn’t too tricky to get it all in there!
Jill says
You have to watch 1883. Of the three – Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923 – 1883 is the BEST.
Jennifer Pierce says
Ah! I’ve been waiting for your January book review bc I always use your reviews to buy my books. BUT my husband and I leave for Maui for our 10 year anniversary trip on the 30th, so I’m running out time! Any chance you can send a couple of suggestions my way?? jenniferp@newliferanch.com
Mix and Match Mama says
Done 🙂
teri says
Hi Shay – We have watched all of the Yellowstone episodes and they are good, but Beth is hard to watch because she is just a mean girl. We then watched 1883, and honestly, you are not missing anything. It was very slow and I did not enjoy the ending at all. Next up, 1923. Let us know what you think!
Mix and Match Mama says
I will surely keep you posted 🙂
Elisabeth Hogue says
I gave up on Yellowstone, too, and started 1883 and hated it. BUT 1923 has been fantastic!
Allena Gurley says
I lasted maybe 4 episodes (TOTAL) of Yellowstone, liked 1883 and am LOVING 1923!
caitlin s davies says
Have you watched Ginny and Georgia?
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t. I keep hearing mixed reviews. I think when the first season dropped, some friends told me it was too “teens behaving badly” (which I don’t love), but I hear that it’s morphed into more about the adults. Is that accurate? Would I like it?
caitlin s davies says
I think that’s accurate. I don’t care for most of the teen content. The rest of the storyline drew me in. It took me longer to finish season 1 I quit and came back. Then season two I flew through- much more adult content. Still don’t like the teen stuff but the storyline of the whole show is unique. Not my favorite I prefer Virgin River and Emily In Paris way more! But it hooked me. Also Firefly Lane is another one to catch
WhittyWife (Lindsay) says
Shay, I wasn’t sure I’d watch season 2, as the first season did seem a lot like your description. But it’s more focused on the mom/adults now. I’m really liking the 2nd season! It’s not Gilmore Girls (what I’ve heard it compared to a million times), but I think you’d like it!
Jennifer says
You HAVE to watch 1883. I love it! So much better than Yellowstone.
Ashley says
I enjoyed this fun post! I hope you all have a safe flight back home and can get some much needed rest. Enjoyed all of your Paris posts!

Erika Slaughter says
I’m LOVING all the Paris pics! Can’t wait to hear all about it!
Kym @ A Fresh Cup of Coffee says
Your trip looks like so much fun – and the food, wow! First time joining you all for this link-up and I’m having a good time getting acquainted.
Laura says
Ok, I feel silly, but don’t jumpsuits make it a bit difficult to go to the bathroom? Lol I’ve never worn one bc I assume it’s a complicated process…but that jumpsuit is adorable! I guess it’s not that bad if you wore it on a flight to Paris?
Mix and Match Mama says
I think it depends on the jumpsuit. This one has no zippers or buttons, so it couldn’t be easier to pull down 😉 . It is SO COMFY!
Laura says
Good to know! Thank you! 🙂
Alissa says
What size is the button up skirt? According to their site my measurement is like 3xs larger than more normal size in everything else. Does what you ordered align with your regular size? Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought an xs (my TTS) and it fits just perfectly!
Tiffany says
Book Suggestions: The Den by Cara Reinard……amazing! A thriller that will keep you guessing.
SS says
We watched 1883 before Yellowstone. Enjoyed it. Gave you better understanding of what the “fight” is for, not only the Dutton’s, but the tribe. We haven’t watched 1883 yet. That is next on the list.
Leslie S says
I’m tired of Yellowstone too. I’m loving 1923!! And Elsa is worth watching 1883 for. Thank you for sharing your trip – it’s looks divine!! Can’t wait for book review day!!
Jen says
Looks like a fabulous trip. I finally bought the Tumi luggage y’all keep talking about. I’m excited for it’s possibilities! I always use a medium bag as I have found the large always come over weight even if you have the same items that would go in the medium. Hoping for better luck with the large as it would just work better for a winter trip with ski pants and jackets/boots.
Kristen says
I just started watching The Bear, have you seen yet? (FX/Hulu) Very good!
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t even heard of that one! What’s it about?!
kristen says
It only became on my radar after lead & show has won golden globes & critic choice awards. Its a half hr drama -touch of comedy. “A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff…”
Kacy M says
I just started season 1 of Yellowstone around Christmas…very intense!
