Happy, happy Monday, friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Since last week, we had guests at our home for the second time this summer, I thought I’d show you our guest room.
We selected the bedroom located on the first floor to be the designated guest room right now. It has a nice sized closet, lots of natural light, and it’s located right next to the largest bathroom. Plus…it’s away from the noisy bunk room 😉 .
Come on in…
…we are so happy for any guests that want to come and visit!
Here is a before picture…
…and now, here is the after…
We decided to have one queen sized bed instead of the two twin beds they had in the room. We also placed the bed on the adjacent wall instead of in front of the windows so that the view wasn’t blocked.
Not a whole lot to share…just (I hope) a nice, simple, peaceful, cozy place for our friends and family to stay when they’re here visiting. It also doubles as an extra room for us to store our clothes and a nice place for me to work from time to time away from the hustle, bustle and noise of the family room.
I also wanted to add this photo too. We removed the temporary blinds (seen in the above photos) and added the Amazon faux-wood blinds. We only intended to use the Amazon blinds on one window, but once we bought them, saw the quality and how easy they were to install, we’ve added them to almost every room!
Don’t forget, if you missed the blogs posts where I shared other spaces here in our home, make sure you go back and visit. So far, I’ve shared OUR FAMILY ROOM, OUR KITCHEN, OUR BUNK ROOM, and OUR PRIMARY BEDROOM.
Here are some sources for you today:
Our contractor: the Carey Company
All white paint (walls, trim, etc): Sherwin Williams High Reflective White
BED is the Coastal Queen Bed from Serena and Lily, but I do not see it online anymore
ART ABOVE THE BED PURCHASED HERE ON NANTUCKET
That wraps up today! I hope you all have a WONDERFUL start to your week! xx

And now, I’m over here googling Elsbeth too! How accomplished and fabulous is she?! I’m so flattered she’s such a sweet and consistent part of this community. Thank you all for bringing her profession to my attention. She’s too adorable for words!

Now I need to look her up!
Such a cozy space Shay… I would have asked the seller for the whale comforters. They are adorable!

So cozy!!!! I want to crawl into that bed for a nap right this very second, and I only woke up about 45 minutes ago. 😉
Monica says

Lori Whittington says
Beautiful! Did you use the same amazon blinds in this room also? Can you share the link again to those? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes but they’re not in these photos. We had temporary ones in here that we’ve since removed and added the Amazon blinds. Those things are FABULOUS!
Robin says
I am loving the home updates, also! Agree, it is beautiful, peaceful and lovely.
Jennifer Robertson says
Can you link the window shades?
Mix and Match Mama says
Those are temporary ones. The ones that are in there now are from Amazon! They are FABULOUS! We’ve added them throughout the whole house. The quality is amazing. https://shopstyle.it/l/bYwMb

Peaceful and serene, just perfect for a guest room. I’ve never understood headboards in front of windows. Your arrangement looks so much better!
Erica says
Beautiful and relaxing! I think the sloth picture is upside down, since they hang upside down?!
Mix and Match Mama says
I need to check with my artist! Ha! (It’s Mades 😉 )
K.K. says
What a beautiful room! Love it.
Ramona Puckett says
Your guest bedroom looks so cozy and I like that you put the bed overlooking the windows. Nothing like the morning light!
Lois Hilty says
Do you also have cleaning women here for your cozy cottage as you do in Texas?
Mix and Match Mama says
We do! We loved the ladies that cleaned up after the construction so much that we’ve asked them to come in a few times this summer (before/after guests/etc) to help. They’ve been lovely!
Karah Stracener says
What a beautiful and cozy guest room. Thank you for sharing. I love the comforter!!
Tana says
You have done a great job with the decor! Did you keep any of the furniture, art, etc that came with the cottage?
Mix and Match Mama says
We did not. We were able to donate all of it.
Sharon says
Ok random question on this post but I was thinking about how in your “day of life” posts, we never see you reading through blogs. Is that at all part of your daily routine? Curious!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s a good question! It is! It’s actually the first thing I do when I turn on my computer. I check my blog comments (like I’m doing now), read my favorite blogs and then Pin. After that, I check my inbox.
Connie says
Hi Shay! This has nothing to do with today’s blog post. Have you read The Paris Daughter by Kristen Harmel? I heard from a friend it’s good. Just wondered if you read it yet. Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t, but it’s certainly on my list!!
Emily says
Do you ever let the kids sleep in there when no guests?
Mix and Match Mama says
I wouldn’t care, but they’ve never asked. These are the same kiddos that still sleep on our floor every Friday night together. Ha! They really like each other’s company…and there isn’t a TV in the guest room.
Carol says
Enjoying your tour of your home on Nantucket. It is absolutely beautiful. Have a quick question. I have read and re read the post about your primary bedroom–trying to find a link to your quilt. Finishing up my new master bedroom and have been looking for a quilt like that. Could you please share/link it?
Hope your family is having a Great summer!
Mix and Match Mama says
The quilt that is underneath the top comforter? That is from Pottery Barn! It’s a part of their “white collection” of bedding. Let me know if you can’t locate it! Happy summer to YOU!
Connie says
It’s really nice. Seems very calming. Would recommend a bedside table.
Maria says
Shay, look into “floating bedside shelf”. I have them in my summer home. So handy for a cup of coffee and a to hold a phone.
Dianna says
Gorgeous room!! Did y’all officially move there or are you just staying for the summer? I might have missed this topic and playing catch up. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
We’re just here for the summer 🙂 . I’m happy you’re back playing catch up!
Kelly Fleming says
Love the Nantucket guest room ! So pretty!
My only thought as someone who is a frequent guest as well as host , a bed side table ( even a tiny one) is a very welcome feature
