You know how I feel about a Friday in October 🙂 .

I hope you had a wonderful week, and I really, really hope you have something fall and fabulous ahead this weekend.

The weather!!

This is the most accurate description of our week…

…we have had everything from 44 to 98 degrees this week here in McKinney, TX.  That is quite the swing!

Needless to say…

…our walk to school yesterday morning was chilly (45!) and despite me telling her to bring a coat, she instead opted for a big sweatshirt where she could pull her arms inside (see them).  AND why does she have spritz marks on her?  Because she told me she used Febreeze before leaving.  She’s the fourth child.  I don’t argue things like this any more.  I just chuckle and thank the good Lord she’s not a teen yet 😉 .

Speaking of teens…

Kensington insisted that I buy myself REFY MASCARA.  She was like “Mom, I cannot believe you don’t use this.  It is the very best.  You need to try it just for the wand.”.  I bought myself some and really, really love it!!  It’s really easy to actually apply it and separate my lashes at the very same time!

Yesterday, I had a dentist appointment and I stopped and saw two of my VERY VERY favorite people on my way…

…this is the FAMOUS Dr. Riegel and his amazing wife Lisa (also his RN).  I know you know him, but let me recap just a bit as reminder…

Dr. Riegel was my OBGYN who…

…delivered both Kensington…

…and Smith (and Ebby Lee, Nixon and Bowen!), and it is an understatement to say that Erika and I L-O-V-E him.

After 25+ years as an OBGYN, he felt his calling and left obstetrics and gynecology in order to become a full time hormone replacement doctor focusing on actually getting people well and helping them live a life of health and quality instead of just pushing drugs and watching his patients deal with terrible (often preventable!) illnesses.  It is his PASSION.  (Side note, when he left OBGYN, Erika and I were so devastated that I’m pretty sure we asked him if we could still just come to his house or something for our annual exams and he said something to the tune of “don’t be weird girls”.  Bahahaha!)  That’s Dr. Riegel!  He’s honest, direct and BRILLIANT.  He is the one…

…who posted this and why I (and now pretty much everyone I know!) read Outlive.

Needless to say, I’m a fan 🙂 .

Yesterday, I stopped by so they could grab my blood and check my hormones to see if my HRT needs to be tweaked.  I do this twice a year, and then he customizes the perfect dose for me to take each week of my hormone replacement therapy.  I have SO MANY posts on the subject that you can read HERE.

Dr. Riegel and Lisa are my favorites and should you be curious about HRT, I cannot (CANNOT) recommend them enough.  He does tele appointments, so you do not have to be local.  You can find them HERE.

    How can your baby be turning ten years old???? I discovered your blog when you were in China adopting Ashby and have pretty much been reading it every morning as part of my morning routine. Ugggg…this life is but a vapor. Enjoy every second celebrating that precious girl. Thank you for sharing your family and your life with all of us readers.     Happy bday Mades!! Time flies..I love the 4th child part and at least she’s not a teen. I feel that to my core!! My little kids ask me to do anything with them, stay up late WITH me, or to go to get treats and I am all in because soon….they will be teens who roll their eyes at the ludacris thought of doing almost anything they used to love!

    Just talked to the Riegel’s a few days ago and my hormones are in route to my house now! I’m so excited to give this a try and, fingers crossed, I will feel much better soon. It truly was an easy process to get this started and I’m just thankful that a Doctor is actually listening to me.

    Hi Shay, thanks for sharing! Since you were sharing some makeup and skin care recommendations, I wanted to share in case you or any other readers are interested. As I’ve become more focused on my health the last couple of years I have tried really hard to switch my beauty products to non-toxic options.     Thanks for reviewing the book Outlive. I first heard of him interviewing Dr. Huberman on his podcast. I was not aware that he wrote the book. I am so glad that your wonderful doctor is helping people live a life of health and quality instead of just pushing drugs and watching his patients deal with terrible (often preventable!) illnesses. My mother has an auto-immune disease with her kidneys and her doctor has just been wonderful and brought her back to life. We are so grateful for that type of medical care!

    I purchased the book Outlive after you told us about it but I have not had time to sit and read (absorb) it. I am going to give that mascara a try, I like the way the wand and bristles are shaped. I must also thank you for turning me on to CR products, I love them!     I know you are interested in health. Highly recommend new documentary The M Factor on pbs. You can watch it on youtube.
    Also recommend Heather Hirsch as a good source for info. She provides a great podcast and class on menopause. So many women are suffering instead of getting treatment. Take care of yourselves ladies!

    Gosh, I think I could definitely benefit from talking to Dr. Riegel. You know when you know your hormones are off, but they do just that one basic blood test? I mean, all women are different, right? Ugh. 😋🥴

      You need the specific labs drawn (just one blood test…but the right labs) and yeah, they’ll know all of your info about your bio individuality.
