What’s Up Wednesday {January 2026}

Happy FIRST What’s Up Wednesday of 2026, friends!

I am so so happy you are here with us again this year!  THANK YOU especially to those of you who link up!

As I am typing this to you right now, I have no idea if my kids are home with me again today or back at school.  It’s currently Tuesday afternoon, and I’m reallllly starting to think we’ll be iced in one more day.  So, right this minute while you’re reading these words, I’m either back in my routine with my life together…or I’m in the kitchen being a short order cook for four kids who are gettin’ pretty stir crazy.

As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now.  It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.

This is the only post I have today, but it is a BIG one.  There are a lot of nuggets in this one post, so I hope you’re settled in and ready to read.

We have been eating everything.

Andrew said yesterday that he’s never seen our dishwashers work so hard.

It’s been four full days of sleeping in, eating everything, playing in the snow, watching TV, and repeat.

For dinner, we have had…

North Texas typically gets at least one good snow a year.  These last few days, I’ve reminisced a lot about…

…the snow in 2010.  This was looking out my back patio at our first house.  That was a lot of snow!  On the other side of the fence down there is a golf course fairway which was always pretty but especially lovely in the snow.

We have certainly been hibernating over the last few days…

Thanks to Erika, I watched this yesterday…

…I really enjoyed watching it.  It’s only 90 minutes, so it’s an easy watch.

In 2018, I read and reviewed her book and absolutely loved it.  I hated the story, but I LOVED how powerfully she wrote about her experience.

I just went back to re-read my own review, and I STILL agree with everything I wrote.  I read this book 8 years ago and it still sticks with me today.  Watch the new Netflix movie and read the book.  I really admire her.

Here is one great big reminder that I’m dressing cozy this winter season…

…I absolutely live AND TRAVEL in my ATHLETA’S JOGGERS!  They are super flattering, so comfortable, and come in sizes xxs to 3x.  I’ve washed and dried mine so many times, and they always look great when I pull them out.  They don’t wrinkle, they’re like “real” pants that feel comfortable.  Love.

We have a few things on the calendar for all three teenagers (Disciple Now at church and McKinney Boyd’s Winter Formal), but there is a good chance that between all of it, you will find the remaining three Shulls…

…at The Yard in downtown McKinney 🙂 .  It’s always a festive, cozy spot over the weekend.

It’s been way too long since this group…

…has been on vacation.  We are remedying that in February 🙂 .
