Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you have all had the BEST week!
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s Faves…which is perfect timing because I am currently IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA with both of them!!
Yesterday, I headed out to Savannah with my besties for our annual girls trip. We are SO excited to be here! We’ve already had so much fun, and it’s been less than 24 hours.
More pics and details to come (where we’re eating, what tours/things we’re doing/etc). This is my third time to visit Savannah, but if you have ANY recs for us, please leave them in the comment section. 🙂
Okay, let’s get to my Favorite Things this week…

If you’ve read my blog over the years then you know…

…I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!
I like crazy love it.
I am that weirdo staying up until 1:00 AM watching curling.
I am so so so excited for the next few weeks 🙂 .

On Wednesday morning…

…Ashby and I headed back to Dallas but this time…

…it was to get her cast off and stitches removed!
This girl has been SUCH A TROOPER!
Surgery #24 was certainly our favorite, but man, it’s still hard to do life with stitches and a cast. It was such a good feeling to walk out of the hospital cast-free.

I bought this book last week…

…THE NEW RULES OF WOMEN’S HEALTH and really love it!
I snapped two pics of the table of contents to show you…

…this book is more like a textbook/reference book on women’s health…

…this isn’t probably a book you’ll sit down and read all the way from start to finish as much as it’s a book to educate/empower/assist you before visiting your doctor/when you’re looking for a referral/should you have questions about certain issues.
It’s just very straight forward and informational about issues spanning all the way across women’s health. I’m going to refer to it not just for me but for my three girls too. I don’t have any wellness books like this one…I thought it was really original and very, very, very much written for the layperson.

It has certainly been a “normal” winter week in Texas…

Like FOR REAL, y’all!
My #ootd have run the gamut…

…I wore a SWEATER and jeans to run errands (these sweaters have been around forever and are ALWAYS a staple in my closet!).
The emphasis here though are my “fancy” EARRINGS 🙂 .

They’re under $10, super light weight, and are so easy to wear every day.
I was wearing this outfit while running errands on Friday while my parents were with Mades (she had spent the night with them). I was walking out of a store and look who I bumped into…

…oh hey, Mades! It’s so fun (and weird) to see your kid “in the wild” unexpectantly. Ha!
This week…

…I also wore THIS JACKET that I bought right after Thanksgiving but always forget to share with you. It’s faux-suede and navy. I love navy 🙂 .

And this THIS SHERPA ZIP UP was another one I brought back out when the weather dipped back to winter.

I always love to share THE TOP TEN with you after each month (don’t forget, you can see the TOP TENS FROM 2025 IN THIS POST!).

We LOVE the Olympics, too. I highly suggest the Netflix 3 episode show Glitter and Gold (about the top 3 ice dancing teams). It got me engaged with the Olympics and gave me people to cheer on. Ice dancing starts TODAY. Thank God for Peacock because you can stream things when it works for you, and not feel you are a slave to the actual TV coverage.

I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Hi Shay! One of the suggested posts at the bottom of this one is Friday faves from May 2023 and I happened to click on it and you talked about Ashby’s 24th surgery. Does that make this most recent one actually #25?! Regardless, such a huge milestone and it must’ve been such a relief that this most recent one was the best so far! Hope you guys have a great weekend.
Mix and Match Mama says
I need to go look and make sure I didn’t have a typo in that post. Thanks for letting me know!

Shay,
My husband and I just landed in Savannah yesterday too, for a quick weekend trip! We went to Belford’s for dinner last night and then ended at Lulu’s Chocolate Bar for a martini and dessert. I’m anxious to tour this beautiful city and eat/shop my way through it! What are some of your recommendations for food? Have the best girls trip!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope I bumped into you!! If you see us (we will be the very loud group of 9, ha!), please, please say hi!

I love Savannah!!! I hope y’all are going to make time to eat at The Olde Pink House!

agree! The Old Pink House is a favorite! Also love touring the Mercer Williams House. It is always amazing.

Savannah is one of our favorite places!! E Shavers bookstore is the CUTEST. If you can get dinner reservations at 1790, it is the best restaurant in Savannah.. so cozy! Have a great trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
We went to 1790 last night! It was a stop on our tour. It was so CUTE!!
Marci G. says
I love the E Shaver Bookstore, too! It’s one of my go to spots when we are in Savannah.
Peyton Cline says
While y’all are in Savannah, you MUST go on the Genteel and Bard walking tour!!! A husband and wife own it, and he does a lot of the tours himself. My mom and I both agreed it was the best tour we had EVER been on, and we have been on a lot. I hope y’all have the best time!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you, thank you!

Having read your blog for years now, I’m still sometimes thrown off by your dark hair. I think it’s gorgeous & suits you so well, but I’m curious if you ever miss the blonde? Your hair has gotten so long & looks super healthy! Maybe I need to make the switch to Colleen Rothschild!
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t miss it at all. In fact, it throws me off now to look up an old pic and see the blonde. Ha!
Melissa Slimp says
Go to E. Shaver Bookstore – it is so much fun! I ran into Mary Kay Andrews there years ago. Dinner at the Olde Pink House is always great and the SCAD gift shop/store is fun to browse through too.
Alyssa says
Ahh my husband and I are trying to do a quick weekend getaway for our anniversary in June and debating between Savannah and Charleston. Can’t WAIT to hear about your trip to help on my research!! Have so much fun.

I lived in Savannah for many years!! Definitely stop into Hotel Bardo or the Perry Lane Hotel and grab a drink at one of their bars. Enjoy beautiful Savannah!

A few years ago, we took our annual girls’ trip and we stayed on Tybee Island (a very chill and relaxed island that we loved!!). We spent a fun day in Savannah. Vic’s on The River was a great place to have lunch! And we loved the historical walking tour (we booked it through Expedia or an app like that). Have the best time!!!
Nikki Merritt says
It’s been a while, but we loved https://www.treylorpark.com/ the last time we were in Savannah.
Susan F says
This is the time of year when I stand in my closet hoping an outfit will jump out at me. Also I spend alot of time switching the thermostat from heat to a/c and back to heat again 😬 I love watching the Olympics and can’t wait for the opening ceremony today!
stacy says
Lot of good stuff here! This reminds me that I need to make a Trader Joe’s Run. That book looks great. It looks like it covers a lot of what I need right now. I’m excited about the Olympics too. I’ll make an Italian themed dinner tonight, and am hoping my teens will be here for it. Enjoy your trip!
Candi says
Can you link your denim jacket from the joggers pics?
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s an oldie but goodie Kut from the Kloth!

Savannah is one of our favorite places. We always stay at the Perry Lane and enjoy their rooftop. The Ardsley Station is one of our go to spots. The Treylor Park Hitch is a fun spot we go to for lunch. We will be going again in March for our annual Savannah Bananas game. I’m looking forward to your trip recap!
Alison says
Ohh, Savannah is the perfect destination for a girls’ trip! So many great places, as you probably know, since you’ve been there. But if you haven’t already, you should really have dinner at Vic’s on the River – it’s a must when we visit. The scallops and their fried chicken are my favorite. I hope you all have the best time together!
Mary Jane McNeill says
See if the Gryphon Tea Room is open. Fun afternoon tea spot run by SCAD. Great atmosphere I have to eat at Six Pence Pub every time I visit Savannah. Good English pub food. Leopold’s Ice Cream is a famous place to visit.
Regarding your mama’s Chicken and Dumplings: DELICIOUS!!! And EASY! I made it for my picky nephews and it was gone in a flash. It’s a keeper!
Pamela G says
Savannah is beautiful. You absolutely have to eat at ole Pink House…AMAZING Have so much fun
Kay says
Hi Shay! I believe your nails are gel and so we probably can’t match in regular nail polish, but I’m obsessed with the light pinky white color you have on! Do you have any details about how maybe we can buy in a bottle? Thank you!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Mine are actually a powder dip and not gel. The color is from a Nexgen book. I think there are several, so I don’t know the exact shade. It looks like OPI’s Mod About You though.
Lindi says
Unrelated, but I have lost all respect for Attia. How disappointing and crude and vulgar.
Cheryl Burns says
Ohhh! So happy you are back in Savannah! I wish I had known and could have greeted you again at the airport. My friend Loren and I were the ones who surprised you with Welcome posters on one of your trips! 😂 We had so much fun doing that and were so thrilled to get to meet you. Enjoy!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my word, I think about that EVERY SINGLE TIME I think about Savannah. Truly, truly, that was SO SPECIAL. I remember it like it was yesterday!!
Sheaffer says
That picture of baby K in the pink hat!!! Stop it right now!!!!
