Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
You guys, how did we get to the end of May so quickly? Outside of December, May might be the “fastest” of all the months. I blinked and here we are at the end.
I hope you’re ready for a jam-packed blog post because today is FULL of fun.
TRADER JOE’S + A CONCERT + NANTUCKET STUFF + MORE!
As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Starting with…

I finally ventured into my new Trader Joe’s last week. I had been avoiding it all month and visiting McKinney’s original location due to the crowds at the new store…but when Kensington called me on her way home from school and asked me if I wanted to meet her there, I clearly couldn’t say no.
Here are just a few of the items we picked up…

We highly recommend this seasonal granola! We added it to coconut yogurt, and it was like a vacation in a bowl for breakfast. Delicious!
Speaking of delicious…

…I have already eaten just about the entire can of these cinnamon sugar cashews. They taste like fall. I find them particularly yummy with coffee in the afternoon.

If you want a little red, white and blue to snack on…

…my kids devoured these.

You know how much I love an all butter cookie. Add some raspberry jam, and I’m a really happy camper.
These however…

…I could not stay away from. I love a wafer cookie, and I love lemon. I love, love, loved these little bites.
And finally…

…I clearly didn’t “eat” this, but I have been enjoying it. It’s kind of similar to Laneige lip products. A great little find!
Don’t forget, you can find my MAY TRADER JOE’S HAUL HERE!

Awwww, lots of reminiscing about our first full summer on Nantucket.
This feels like yesterday.
Goodness, time is such a thief.

We arrived on Monday afternoon and hopped right back into the swing of things on Nantucket…

Hello, hello! Happy to be bACK for our fourth summer!

This spring, we put in a new fence around the back. It gives me Hallmark movie vibes…and I’m loving it…

Three pics about a new fence? Yes. I really like it. Ha!
We’ve been on several walks already…

…it just makes me so happy…

…Charlie boy came with us this time but like I said on Tuesday, this first part of the summer will be a bit of back and forth, so don’t worry, we didn’t leave the others for the whole summer.

Bike to the gym, lift weights, walk the dog and then…

…Ashby and I biked into town together for iced coffees. This girl told me she wants to be my running buddy this year. She and I have been running together in McKinney, and now, we’ll get to spend a lot of time running together here too. Cross country season will be here before we know it, and she wants to be ready!

Happy place.

We have to check a few things off our “to do list” this summer and one of those is…the first Shull kiddo is getting their wisdom teeth removed. Ugggg…oral surgeries are the absolute worst. I’m not even having one this time, and I’m still dreading it.

I’m going to go ahead and say FALL because…

…I was sitting at my desk working last week when K popped in for her daily, post-school chat carrying a gift for me. She had stopped by Hobby Lobby to pick up some supplies for a cheer project when she saw this cozy soft pumpkin blanket and bought it for her mama. My heart melted into a puddle. Now, I am so excited for fall to come around so that I can use my new blanket 🙂 .

My MAY BOOK REVIEW is coming up, but in the meantime, if you haven’t read…

…MAD MABEL it was our MAY BOOK CLUB selection, and I gave it FIVE STARS!
This month, I also read and reviewed…

…THE MENOPAUSE GUT and absolutely recommend it too!

It has been Eagles on REPEAT around our house!
You know, raising kids is hard. Are they listening when you’re teaching them right from wrong? Are they paying attention to all of those important “car chats”? Are they going to grow up with the values and ethics and faith you have desperately tried to instill in them?
You pour so much into these little humans hoping some of it sticks and well, nothing is more rewarding than when two of your teenagers ask you to take them to the Eagles concert. Bahahaha!
Andrew and I love the Eagles, so earlier this year when Kensington heard they were coming to town, she asked if we would take her and Smith. That was an easy YES from Andrew and me. (It was an easy NO from Ashby and Madeley who both haven’t quite hit their Eagles era yet 😉 .)
The four of us set out for Globe Life Field in Arlington…

…and had the absolute best time 🙂 .

Look at all the people there to see the Eagles in concert! It was PACKED!

Goodness, I love this girl.

I love this guy too.

We spent the evening on our feet belting out every single song…

…they sounded good, y’all. We have seen some older artists perform that didn’t sound nearly as good as they did back in “their day”, but this group sounded fantastic!

Random little tidbit for you, but Don Henley went to the University of North Texas (like me!) and that’s how the band got their name…after the North Texas Screaming Eagles.
I’m not going to lie though, the highlight of my night was probably…

…having Vince Gill there as an Eagle. My teenage self from the ’90s pretty much lost her mind. I LOVE VINCE GILL!
It was such a special night, and we have been listening to Eagles music on repeat ever since.

Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been wearing so far this week…

…please ignore the stack of packages and boxes behind me. There always comes a point in the year when I stop sending stuff to McKinney and start sending it to Nantucket. Flip flops, swimsuits, random Amazon finds…all were on the porch when we arrived. I wore MY DRESS to dinner on Monday night…

…with MY AMERICAN FLAG SWEATER. I wore it all day…so soft and comfy!

I love those darn AMAZON LEGGINGS so much that I brought another pair up to Nantucket with me. I cannot rave about these leggings enough. My jacket is HERE.

And yesterday, I showered after the gym and put on my uniform of GAUZE SHIRT + TENNIS SKIRT.

Love.
And here’s a little May recap of what I’ve been wearing and loving…

I have now purchased THIS SHORT SLEEVE SWEATER TOP in three different colors…love, love, love.

THIS DRESS on repeat! It’s so comfy, so soft, and basically the easiest.

THIS TOP might be the very best deal on the internet. The quality is exceptional and the price is ridiculous.

I bet I’ve worn, washed, and tumble dried THIS DRESS so many times this month! It’s so soft and comfy and perfect for everyday wear.
And these two dresses, I’ve worn to church…

My COTTON KNIT DRESS comes in other color options as well. It was comfy and cute and doesn’t wrinkle a bit.

And I received so many compliments when I wore THIS DRESS to church. The detail is so pretty.

All sorts of “last weekend in May” things!

I am looking forward to all the summer things.
All. Of. Them.
And that wraps up this month’s WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY!
If you blogged along with us today, please link up below.

Have a great summer!
I do love seeing that fall blanket🎃🎃

Hi Shay! I always love what’s up Wednesday and can’t wait to try some of those new Trader Joe’s finds! What size are you wearing in the white jacket?! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
XS! I would say that it runs over-sized, so if you’re in-between, I wouldn’t size up.
Alison says
Looks like another great month! I can’t believe it’s already Nantucket time! And, how awesome to see the Eagles!! We went to Nashville in December, and Vince Gill was at the Grand Ol’ Opry, when we went! It definitely took me back to the 90s, and I loved every minute of it as I sang along!
Bev says
SOOOO excited about the CR body wash! A while back they asked for product suggestions and I submitted body wash that smells like the shampoo! But if it smells like the ritual body oil/cream, I’m fine with that, too! Love all things CR and appreciate your recommendations!
Happy Nantucket summer to you & your family! It always looks so idyllic! 💖
Mix and Match Mama says
You did?! I love that you took the time to do that! It smells AMAZING! I absolutely love it!
SS says
Shay,
The concert sounds fun! Vince Gill!!! I saw him in the 90s after he shaved his head at a local fair. What a Fantastic concert! It is fun when kiddos listen to the stuff you listened to. I played 80s pop, 90s country and Elvis. Our olders now listen to so much 90s country…I just laugh and say I played this when you were kids. Lol! Our youngest listens to all of it!
Enjoy your time there!!!
Tamara Lang says
We saw the Eagles at the beginning of this tour in Madison Square Gardens. It was an amazing night with 2/3 of my kiddos as well!
Mix and Match Mama says
Weren’t they SO GOOD?!

Sounds like the perfect start to summer! Be careful when flying after getting wisdom teeth pulled. My daughter, 18 at the time, had 4 removed, all went well. About 5 days later we flew from California to Arizona and she was in agonizing pain when we started to descend. Apparently this is pretty common due to the pressure change. I guess she should have taken some Advil before the flight. Who knew? Have a wonderful summer with your family!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for the tip!!
Tracie says
Before the wisdom teeth surgery buy the neoprene ice pack holder and an additional 4-pack of the ice packs. It’s a must have! I labeled the sets ABCD, so I knew which set to pull as we traded out the packs every 30 minutes. It’s a long day. After a few days of cold, she would microwave the packs to use warm. Good luck. It’s a rough day for mama too.

Thank you SO MUCH! Just ordered!!

I love that your kids love the Eagles! My kids are 37 and 29 and love the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Journey because they grew up listening to it with us. Anytime we hang out we are always listening to one of them and we love that they are usually the ones that request it.
Blakely says
My husband and I are spending a week on Nantucket in September and will be looking for a gym to use! which did you bike to in this post?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve emailed it to you before! I just emailed it again so that it’s at the top of your inbox 🙂
Gina Holmes says
Shay, I had to chuckle at the lady next to Kensington in your first family concert pic! She looks like she is mean-mugging y’all! 😂 Glad y’all had fun. My favorite Eagles song is The Last Resort, but I feel like it gets overshadowed by Hotel California.
Kirsten says
That’s my favorite Eagles song too. SO underrated. I saw the Eagles Hell Freezes Over Tour a million years ago an to this day remains the best concert I’ve ever been to.
Paula Hobbs says
The Eagles….EEEK!!! How fun!! That blanket looks so cozy! K is just the sweetest.
Hope says
Hey Shay!!!You can also buy pantyhose and put the ice packs in them and tie them around their head. Its not pretty but it keeps ice on both sides and you dont have to worry about holding the ice packs. I had mine removed the summer before my senior year. We obviously didnt plan that well because I had 2 that were impacted, so when it was time for senior pictures that summer I still had a bruise that nothing covered!!!We rescheduled them but thats also something to keep in mind if its K. Good Luck to you!!!It won’t be as bad as you think. Enjoy your Nantucket summer!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU!!!! I appreciate tips so much!
Gail Young says
Do you still make a bucket list of things do do while on Nantucket, or do you just see what comes up and go with the flow? It must be a little different now that your kids are older?
Mix and Match Mama says
We still have a list, but it’s not nearly as long as it was our first year. Each day kind of has its own flow and a lot of what we do depends on the weather. A huge change is that now, Kensington and Smith drive, so that has really opened up even more for them.
Lynn T says
So happy for summer too..since I am off I get to read your blog earlier in the morning instead of waiting until the end of the week to read all of them! I ordered the blue dress from J Crew. Always love your links.
Sue says
I had four wisdom teeth impacted back in the day (decades ago). My dentist told Mom ice packs 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off for 24 hours. I had almost no swelling (I had friends who looked like chipmunks) and no brusing. I was back on food (mushing it but still) 2 days later (which was Christmas – not missing that!). Maybe things have changed or I had a good dentist but I thought I’d throw that out there. PS I saw the Eagles too – they were great!!! Oldies but goodies that sound just as good now as they did then: Steve Miller and Elton John.
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for the tip!!!
Shanna Corn says
We saw Vince Gill last summer when he was doing a little solo tour. One of the best concert I’ve been to. He played for four straight hours.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow! He is incredible!
lee ann vicary says
As someone who is much older – I saw the Eagles in concert in Tampa FL in the mid 70s. Went with a date there were seats in the stadium but the field was a mosh pit of kids, making poor life choices. Great concert, glad I lived through my ill spent youth.
Kristen says
How many teeth are being pulled? I had two widsom teeth done , one on each side and I had zero swelling and was fine the next day!
Mix and Match Mama says
All four!
Debbie Dehrer says
All three of my kids had their wisdom teeth out in the last two years. They all drank pineapple juice the night before and had minimal swelling and recovered quickly. Talking to the oral surgeon he said it definitely helps. Hope it goes well!
Mix and Match Mama says
You are not the first person to tell me about the pineapple juice theory. It sounds totally crazy to me…but when I Googled it (after other people told me about it), so many swear by it. Thank YOU for reinforcing it 🙂 .
Kimberly says
Ask the surgeon about a shot they can give instead of having to take the pain pills. I can’t remember the name but I had all 4 pulled last year PLUS two molars, and the doctor gave me that and I only had to take ibuprofen. Thankfully they did mild sedation so I wasn’t high as a kite, just sleepy. I was kind of miserable, but 6 teeth? Haha and that numbing shot lasts 2 days to get you out of the rough spot.
Yvonne says
I love that Kensington brought you home that pumpkin blanket! 😍 so sweet and thoughtful! ❤️🎃
Lindsey says
Hey Shay! Do you know if the radiant cleansing balm is good for sensitive skin?
Mix and Match Mama says
I would absolutely think that it would be. Read the ingredients and reviews, but it’s so gentle..
Ginger says
We saw the Eagles at the Sphere in Las Vegas. It was AMAZING! I highly recommend it, even if you’ve already seen them. I think they are still playing there through the end of 2026.
When I had my wisdom teeth pulled and the bleeding wouldn’t stop that night, I was told to bite down on tea bags. Worked great.
Katie Compton says
Super random wisdom teeth tip but it actually worked well for my daughter… drink pineapple juice the day before the surgery to reduce the swelling. I know it sounds crazy but she had all 4 taken out back in January and it helped! She also stayed on top of the icing and slept almost sitting up for the first couple nights. She never had to take the Rx pain pills but she did take ibuprofen regularly the first couple days.
Good luck! Make sure to have a good variety of ice cream stocked up. 😊
Mix and Match Mama says
THANK YOU!!! I am open to allllllllll the tips!
Debra says
Omg – the eagles were a favorite of gen I was growing up! So cool your kids love them too! Love your new fence as well!
samantha says
My daughter and I ran right out later Wednesday and picked up the raspberry sandwich cookies and the granola. I loved the apple seasonal granola from there but this one is even better! And the cookies are so delish! You or your kids may like the boxes of assorted fruit gummies…they reminded us a little of the candy dishes at our resort in Italy a couple years ago.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s so good, right? We love it too!
