Happy WEEKEND!
If you are looking for me this morning, you will find me…

…heading into town for the farmers market 🙂 .
I always tell myself that once I’m back in McKinney, I will go to that farmers market on Saturdays too…but then I remember this…

…and I sigh.

I’ve never related more to a statement.
Alrighty, I hope you’re having the best start to your weekend. As sad as it is to type these words, this is our last weekend as a family of six here on Nantucket. Varsity cheer is starting back up, so Kensington must head home. Boo. Poppy and Yankee will be joining her which means, one by one by one, we are going to start migrating back.
I’m going to make the most out of our remaining time here and then I’m going to get all sorts of HAPPY about Back to School season and fall…

…in the meantime though, let’s make this a FABULOUS SUMMER WEEKEND!
Thank you so much for being here with me today! xx

One of the many things I love about Nantucket is how small and yet how vast it is. One minute, you’re in the state forest surrounded by deer, the next minute, you’re in town singing at at piano bar in a club car and then the next…

…you find a “new to you” beach. This week, I woke up early and checked out Washing Pond Beach and wow! It was gorgeous. Kensington was with me and she kept saying “why don’t we come here more often?”. I don’t know? It was extra fabulous. In this pic, you can see the pond and the ocean side by side…

This beach is on the north shore…

…the sand was extra super soft, and goodness, I could have stayed all day.

I love seeing the slow boat heading out early in the morning. We will most definitely be back to this little beach!

I bought THIS COMPRESSION TANK in the spring and loved it so much that not only did I bring it to Nantucket, but I also…

…got it in this light blue too! It comes in 8 DIFFERENT COLORS, and I already have my eye on both navy and red. The material makes it a very elevated tank (so cute with MY EYELET SKIRT, also in other colors!).
And please note…

…my LOBSTER EARRINGS 😉 .
Also please note that while I was trying to snap this photo before dinner…

…this kid kept jumping in front of me to “fix his hair” (ie: mess with mom). Haha! Geez, I love him.

You know we love combining the very best of both worlds at Mix and Match Travel Agency!
Take a look at this epic adventure…

…is always the very best. The location, the service, and the food is hard to beat on Nantucket. If you love sushi, this is the place to dine on island. A little savory along with…

…a little sweet 🙂 .
And that’s a little bit of bonus blog content for your Saturday!

Happy Saturday morning, Shay! Looks like a beautiful day in Nantucket!
I meant to comment earlier in relation to something you shared earlier this week (or last?): Reading your blog for many years now, I have often wondered why Texas starts school so early, knowing your summer heat situation! I appreciated reading your thoughts on it.
I live in Iowa and thought you might enjoy hearing about this – we have a law, that began in 2015 I believe, that our schools cannot begin until 8/23 or after. This went into effect giving our kids’ summer family time and especially allowing our state’s kids time to participate in our state fair which runs 11 days in August. This law is always up for debate but thought you might enjoy hearing about our state and how summers “end” and the school year begins. Lots of information out there in the internet world detailing this.
Have a beautiful weekend, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, please tell me which cute and charming town in Iowa I need to move to ASAP. I LOVE THIS LAW!

Is dinner on Nantucket a dressier event? All the patrons look put together.
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say yes (at least compared to what I’m used to in the Dallas area). For the most part, I feel like people are pretty “put together” most of the time around here.

Living in the southern heat I have dreams of a crisp Fall coming but I have enjoyed your Saturday Summer posts😊 Would love to see a post devoted to Five Star Weekend and the places around town seen in the movie…. before you leave island.

So fun to open your blog this morning and see our amazing trip featured!! We had the best time!!! Thanks Whitney and Brooke for helping us!!

Shay,
I just had to check the temperature in Nantucket. It says it’s 74° there. I am so darn jealous! I’m in the DC area and we have a heat index today of 105° to 110°! And our air quality is unsafe to go outside. I’m originally from New England and I miss it so much! Have a great Saturday!
Francesca says
Full respect but that “kid” in the mirror is so grown up! 😆 Does he still play violin?
Mix and Match Mama says
He does! He no longer takes formal lessons, but yes, he still plays it.

Enjoy your last days on Nantucket ! Living in Northern Utah we will have cooler mornings at the beginning of September, and leaves 🍂 on the mountains will start to change around the same time !! I can’t wait !!
Kacey says
I love these extra doses of happiness on Saturdays!

I love your posts! I cannot believe how grown up your oldest kids are looking.
I adore the shoes you are wearing in the photo with the black tank and white jeans. Can you share any deets on those?
Mix and Match Mama says
They are from a boutique here on Nantucket called Clorinda Antonori 🙂
Deb says
So are you watching 5 star weekend?! It’s filmed on Nantucket! I’m looking in the scenery for places that you’ve mentioned. They are going to dinner at The Cru!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES! Make sure you check out Thursday’s post! I blogged about it (and the comment section is so fun too!): https://mixandmatchmama.com/2026/07/elin-hilderbrand-day/

I hope you have the best last weekend together in Nantucket! This weekend I made two of your Bundt cakes for a family funeral dinner! They are so easy to make and taste so yummy!
Mix and Match Mama says
I certainly hate that you had to make them for a funeral, but I’m so happy you made them. I’m grateful for it!
