Hey there, Tuesday!
Today, I’m sharing some of our favorite family friendly traditions (the ones we repeat year after year after year) along with a few holiday gift ideas for your men from Nordstrom. Back in October, I shared this pic…
…of some of my hubby’s favorite things to wear (and he LOVES receiving the body wash as a gift), so I thought I’d partner with Nordstrom and share just a few more gift ideas and easy/wear all the time outfits for men this holiday season. Let’s talk about that above pic for a minute…what man does not look good in a buffalo check shirt?! I dare you to find one. I also loved the v-neck sweater and the pullover sweater too. My mom gifted all of the men in my family this body wash a few years ago for Christmas and Andrew has continued to buy it because it smells so nice. Throw in his shoes and his favorite jeans (not pictured) and he’s a well dressed guy (that smells nice!). I love that he has certain brands and styles he loves because shopping for men is HARD! I can shop for ladies and kids all day, but when it comes to the men in my life, I’m often stumped.
Here’s a few more pics I found of my hubby wearing some good looking/casual/easy to throw on/wear to work or to play stuff from the Nordstrom Men’s Department…
Ah! Isn’t he handsome?! I loved this shirt because it is neutral, but not neutral at the same time…
…see? Same jeans and same shoes that he always wears but with that shirt and a jacket.
And then, I am a HUGE fan of this shirt too! Hello? Plaid for the win!
I made up two little widgets here to (hopefully) help you find things for your man. The first one has great sweaters/jackets/shirts…
…and the second widget has all of that fun techy stuff guys love. Did you know that Nordstrom sells techy stuff? Well, they do and with free shipping and returns, how can we go wrong?! Here’s a little look…
So, maybe we can wrap up our men’s shopping today? #wouldntthatbenice
They even have stuff for my dad…
Isn’t that fun?!
Okay, if you’re looking for a few family friendly traditions this Christmas season, here is a recap of ours…
We kick off each season with a decorated house for the holidays…
To see my Christmas Home Tour post, click HERE.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, our town square hosts their Home for the Holidays event and it’s always one of our favorite events of the year (and especially one of our favorite Christmas traditions!). We love to go to our town square!
Every year, I host an annual recipe exchange and it is SO MUCH FUN! Now, I do this with a group of girlfriends, but you could do it with your coworkers, neighbors, family, etc. To see how I do it, click HERE.
Jammy Cocoa Christmas is a must for us each year! To see pics from our time last year, click HERE. It’s a catchy little name that you’ll hear yourself saying every year as you pile in the car to look at lights :).
A few years ago, I documented our Elf on the Shelf every day for about a month. If you need ideas for your elf, you can see that post HERE. That darn elf is a tradition in our house every year.
Every week, attending church is important to us…but during the holiday season, it’s just extra special. We always attend our Deck the Halls service at church and last year, sweet Ebby Lee and Kensington sang in it. Attending church, having a daily quiet time and really stopping to remember the real reason we celebrate is THE MOST IMPORTANT tradition your family could have.
During the holiday season, we find any excuse to go down to our town square and just walk around and see the lights, the decor and feel the spirit in the air. It doesn’t take much to give us Christmas cheer!
Every year, our town hosts an annual light parade and WE LOVE IT!! This was us last year. It’s THIS Saturday for any of you that are local!!
We also love going to visit the big tree down at the Dallas Galleria :). We’re heading there realllllly soon to see Santa too…
Let’s hope Madeley doesn’t cry this year 🙂 . She’s already told me that she’s not sitting in Santa’s lap. #sassyfourthkids
Last year, we had our 7th annual carriage ride on our square. This is something my kiddos talk about all year long and I’m hoping they’re memories that last a lifetime.
And a few years ago, we started a “framily night” tradition with the Slaughter family every Christmas. There are always a ton of laughs…and children.
We love to get cozy and watch Christmas movies every year. I feel like we watch them all. Twice. We cannot get enough! To see my faves, click HERE.
And of course, we’re in the kitchen…
…my family is in the kitchen none stop during the holiday season. To see my favorite Christmas treats…all simple, seasonal, delicious and festive, click HERE. We love making recipes together every day…but especially the days leading up to Christmas.
Whew! That wraps up today! Men’s finds from Nordstrom AND traditions. That’s a lot for a Tuesday 😉 . See you guys tomorrow!

I loved all of your gift ideas for men! Andrew and my hubby have the same fashion style and body type so I’m going to grab some of these for Christmas gifts! What size does Andrew wear in the shirts and sweaters?
Kelly Chen says
I’ve adopted your Jammy Cocoa Christmas tradition…love!!
Tina says
Love these traditions. I am always sad to see everyone end Christmas on 26th. The celebration of a baby continues after birth and we are celebrating the birth. We always tried to celebrate through the end of December, but a few side glances and gasps that we still had our decorations up?

Your kids have grown up SO much this year!!!!

I think you mentioned once that Andrew has an Apple watch like you, right? Does he wear normal, not tech-y men’s watches anymore? I’m looking for a nice one to give to my husband. He’s starting a new job in January and I think a watch would be perfect for him! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! He wears both. To work every day, he wears his Apple watch. He loves it!
Jenny says
I really enjoyed the 52 Shades of Shay series when you first did it! Have you thought about doing an update series on them? That would be fun!
Sarah says
Yes Yes!!!
More real/personal stuff.
Tracy says
We love Christmas traditions (or any sort of traditions throughout the year!). Maybe Madeley would be happy just standing next to Santa. My daughter was around her age when she didn’t want to sit in his lap but insisted she’d just stand next to him. 🙂
Amy says
Does Andrew have the Bose wireless earbuds in your widget above? If so, does he like them? I’m looking for a pair for my boyfriend and on the fence about those – some say they are too bulky.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! He does!! He wears them to the gym every single day!
Laurie S says
Look at how small/young Samuel was last year (Dallas Galleria picture). Now he’s walking and talking and expecting a sibling soon! How time flies!

I will be referring back to this post for hubby gifts! Thanks for sharing! And I love all of the Christmas traditions!!!! 🙂

Such fun family traditions! I know you are a planner so this is a suggestion for next year…Six Flags Holiday in the Park! Such beautiful lights, delicious food, shows and rides that would (hopefully) work for all of your sweet kids.

I love all your Christmas traditions…we totally do the Jammy Cocoa Christmas now, too!

Thank you for the gift selections for husbands! My husband is so hard to buy for! I appreciate the help. I made one of your enchilada recipes last night and my husband told me it was one of his favorite meals ever!! Maybe I will get him your cookbook for Christmas!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
Love the Santa pic!! hahaha! Poor Madeley!! Every child needs a picture of themselves crying on Santa’s lap! It’s a right of passage. I can see Madeley doing her boss walk up to him this year and just saying “No” and walking off. That Inspired Chick

Christmas traditions! I love ALL of them! In our family we do the drive to look at lights with hot cocoa and treats; we always see some sort of Christmas theater/musical show; we read Christmas books before bed (I have an entire bin of them that come out each year — I even wrote one!); we listen to Christmas music in the house, in the car…and we watch as many Hallmark and Lifetime movies as we can.
PS: I love all your decorations!!
DANIELLE K RIGG says
I love all your traditions! I know your girls are into the American Girls, mine are just starting. Where and what do you use for storage for the clothes, etc? Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
Just plastic bins 🙂
Michelle says
Our family uses an Over the door shoe organizer. Typically, two American girl outfit can fit in each pocket. It just helps us stay organized better.
Mallory Bakker says
Are there recipes in your “25 Days of Christmas Treats” post that are good for making ahead of time and putting in the freezer? I always want to make a bunch of goodies, but don’t have time right before Christmas parties/get togethers/etc. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
The cookie dough especially!

Which Ann Voskamp advent book do you use? You posted it in your IG story this past week. 🙂 I saw there is a new one, The Wonder of the Greatest Gift.

You might want to hold off on going to the Galleria realllly soon (or call first). This may be bad info, but I heard there wasn’t enough demand at the Galleria, so he’s not showing up until the 17th this year!
Anna S says
My friend’s Elf broke his leg this year and can’t move around the house for 2 weeks. HA! She needed a break.

They look great. Christmas is so different in Australia because it’s summer and hot!!!
