It’s What’s Up Wednesday!
Once a month, my friends Mel, Sheaffer and I host this link up where we share some random and fun stuff that’s up with us today. If you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up at the bottom of the post! Every month, we answer these questions…
…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts!
Ready, set, here we go!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
This week, we had Meal Planning Tuesday! If you missed it, you can catch it HERE. This week’s menu includes so many yummy recipes including my family’s new favorite…
…Sweet Potato & Sausage Hash. This one makes a great supper or even brunch!
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
It’s been a week of thinking about Manda. I keep thinking about “this time last year…”. It’s hard, friends. Please continue to pray for her family.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
My hairstylist told me to start using this Kevin Murphy Powder Puff. You sprinkle a little bit at the crown of you head (it looks like baby powder but absorbs quickly and you can’t see it), and it gives your hair just the slightest little lift (some oomph!). This stuff is like magic! I also love it when I pull my hair back in to a ponytail (and want a little volume). I’ve tried other products like this, but they always stay stuck in my hair and are hard to wash out. I found this really easy to remove.
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Well, up until this weekend, we were watching the Olympics every chance we got. Gosh, I’m sad that it’s over! It was such a fun thing to sit down and watch with the kids. We LOVE the Olympics!
I’m going to say spring allergies. My eyes itch like crazy every spring and fall. Urg.
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
The Manda Strong Foundation 🙂 . Right now, we would love for you and your family to prayerfully consider donating each month to this wonderful charity who loves on and creates special moments and memories for sweet mamas here in Collin County with cancer. If you would like to set it up where you contribute once a month via you credit card (any amount you chose!), then you can HERE. You can also learn more about the Manda Strong Foundation HERE and recommend a mom (here in Collin County) that you think needs support from MSF. It’s such a worthy cause in honor of such a precious life. We would love your support!
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My February Book Review was up yesterday…
…you can see it HERE. I read some great books, friends! Make sure you read the comment section of the post for other recommendations too!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I pretty much listen to this movie in the background of my work all the way through about three times a week. The music is good, the writing is exceptional and oh my goodness, these three words just do it for me: Alec, Meryl, Steve. Bam.
Still loving my new wedges! Now, if we could only get spring to arrive then I could actually wear them out of my house. #goals Here is a full length pic…
…yup, still love them 🙂 . They actually come in two different colors. You can see them HERE. And those are the Kendra Scott earrings I told you about…
…they’re actually light (and not heavy like her other earrings). I’ve pretty much worn them every day! They come in several other colors HERE.
And ’tis that time of year for me to wear this jacket every day. I’ve had this jacket for years and they still sell it at J.Crew because it’s so cute and FUNCTIONAL! I tend to wear it the most in spring and fall (it’s a great weight for transitioning weather). Love it. Can’t stop wearing it. Will have it forever.
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Birthday dinner for my dad 🙂 . It’s actually party 1 of 2 for him this year. What are the odds that I give him something Boston Red Sox for his birthday? #prettydarngood
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Did someone say something about Spring Break? Because, um, YEAH!
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Nothing else 🙂
Bonus question this month: What’s your family’s favorite spring break destination?
Mel came up with this question, and I LOVED it!
Last year, we took our family to Washington D.C. for spring break and had the BEST time!! This was one of our best family trips!! We loved how walkable the city was, the food, the history, how almost every place we visited was free of charge…it was FANTASTIC! You can see all about that trip HERE. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
Annnnnnd…because my kids say this was their favorite vacation EVER, I should also say that this was also a great spring break trip…
…our Disney Cruise! Oh me oh my oh! We had such a good time!!!! Love, love, LOVED every minute!! You can see that recap HERE.
Okay! That’s What’s Up Wednesday today! If you blogged too, make sure you link up below.

The powder puff you recommended sounds really good! I’m going to see if I can find it where I live. The packaging is on point, too. 😀 Have fun this weekend with your Dad and family, Shay! 🙂

I’m picking up that powered ASAP! That sounds perfect!

Living outside Pittsburgh we always like to head somewhere warmer. Our spring breaks usually are the week leading up to Easter. Our faves have always been cruises (we have always done Carnival), Disney in Florida, and sometimes we just go to a sunny beach town in Florida and just enjoy the beach, kite flying on the beach, bike riding, etc…not so much busy siteseeing type vacation..more just chilling.
Erika Slaughter says
Girl!!! Those Disney cruise pics take me back! So Much Fun!!! And knowing your love of a wedge I laughed out loud at the thought of you walking around your house in them just waiting for good weather!! Ha! #youknowyouddoit
Erin Port says
I can’t wait for spring break either and this is one of my favorite linkups all month, thanks for hosting it! xoxo ERIN

kevin murphy hair is a game changer! the hydrate me or the repair me shampoo/rinse are worth every penny. i recently moved and had to change stylists- and my hair took a beating with the new highlights. a week of repair me wash/rinse and it’s a ton better. if you have thick dry curls- hydrate me is the best!

Growing up my parents always took me to the Marriott Harbor Beach in Ft. Lauderdale for Spring Break or J.W. Marriott in Marco Island and I absolutely loved it!! I have so many memories in those places, though I have not been back for several years. We also took occasional trips to Hilton Head Island, but typically would go there in the summer instead of spring! I can’t wait to see where you guys go next!
Sarah says
Do you think a Disney Cruise is easier to do with young kids (4 and 1) than the parks? Are there obvious pros/cons to one over the other? Disney novice here so maybe the comparison isn’t possible because they are so different! Thanks I’m advance for any thoughts you may have!
Mix and Match Mama says
I think they’re such different trips, that it’s harder to say. I will say that Disney Cruise Line has built in down time…which is harder to find at Disney World.
Sarah says
Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it!! 🙂
Rene' Pingel says
Oh my goodness I LOVE It’s Complicated, too. I bet I’ve watched it over 50 times in the last few years. We are kindred spirits, girl!
Angela Ellingson says
I have a random question for you. Do you and Mel just know each other through blogging or were you friends in person first?
Mix and Match Mama says
We met through blogging years ago. Isn’t that fun?!
Megan says
Are you going to Disney World? Would love to hear your planning tips!

Hi shay! I’m building a house and I’m In love with your closet! Would you give a tour of it? I’m loving getting ideas from bloggers and other IG mamas!

Our family of four is going to Charleston, SC! We can’t wait to go!
LeeAnn says
I’m also dreading the seasonal allergies! A couple of years ago a friend recommended an eye drop called Zatidor. It’s an antihistamine for the eyes. It was a GAME CHANGER. I even use it on my little because her eyes will get so red and itchy in the spring. These Boston springs are beautiful but brutal! Highly highly recommend!
Nancy Wempe says
I love the jacket! Is your’s the mossy brown color?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Exact one!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
That powdered stuff sounds a lot like that Osis Dust It powder I gave at the party the other day! I’m tempted to get some to compare now! And your new cup should be ready in a couple of days!! That Inspired Chick
Anna S says
The Paralympic Games start on March 9th! They are as exciting and awe-inspiring as the Olympics. I highly recommend tuning in! NBC is covering.

LOVE that J. Crew jacket- the button detail is my fave! Wondering if the one you are wearing is black or brown? Its kind of hard to tell from the pic. Also, what size did u purchase, Im wondering if it runs large or small and want to make sure I have ample room for layering. Btw…those wedges are darling- C’mooooon spring!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s the exact one I linked to! It’s kind of a mossy greenish brown color.
Ale says
OMG, Shay ! I absolutely LOVE Kevin Murphy. I use the Angel shampoo and conditioner and they are the BOMB! Give it a try!

I hope this isn’t too nosy, but did you get new rings? They’re absolutely gorgeous!
Mix and Match Mama says
Not recently. I’m wearing my original wedding band with my new ring set that I got a few years ago.
Stephanie says
I teach 3rd grade and we are learning about the three branches of government. I showed them the pictures of your trip to Washington D.C. that are on your blog. They loved it!
Morgan Godbold says
I hate allergy season too! Alaway eye drops and a daily Claritin are my friends!
Mandy says
Thanks for sharing your Disney cruise posts again! It looked like you all had such a great time! You mentioned they were very accommodating for you three kiddos at the time, setting up an additional bed in the cabin. Do you know if this would be possible in the cabin for 4 kiddos or would two just need to share?
Mix and Match Mama says
Disney Cruise Line only allows five guests per cabin. If you have six guests, you would need two cabins.
