It’s the last week in August, friends!
I’m in a weird place where the weather and calendar say “summer” but my actual life feels very “fall”. You know…the kids are in school, we’re playing fall sports, pumpkin spice everything is out in stores…I need the weather to catch up to where I am mentally 😉 .
I know for many of you, your kiddos are heading back to school today, so I’m sending my love! From my home to yours today, I hope you have a great Monday! xo
My Crispy Lemon Chicken kicks off our week! It’s, crunchy, flavorful, done!
Taco Rice Bowls for the win on your Taco Tuesday! All the bells and whistles of a taco…in a bowl. Bam.
Mmmmmm! Thanks to store bought meatballs, my Slow Cooker Mushrooms & Meatballs over Pasta could not be easier! They cook up all day in the slow cooker making suppertime a breeze!
My Sweet Potato & Sausage Hash is one of my husband’s very favorite meals! We use turkey sausage in ours, but of course, you could use whatever you love most. This supper feeds a crowd and is always a winner at our house! Turkey Thursday for the win!
Wrap up your week with one of THE MOST POPULAR recipes at my house…Old Fashioned Sloppy Joes. My kids would be quite happy if I made this every night for dinner.
For dessert this week…
…Fresh Apple Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting…because it’s beginning to look a lot like apple season around here!
Cheers to a fabulous week, friends! xo

How have I not made those sloppy joes yet?! My husband loves you, btw. Haha! I think I’ve only made maybe one of your recipes that we didn’t love. He’s happy whenever I tell him dinner is one of Shay’s meals. ?

If I’m ever in a pinch or don’t know what to make for dinner, you always save the day! Thank you so much!

If I wanted to make your old fashioned sloppy joes without a slow cooker what would I do? Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
Easy! In a skillet over medium-high heat with just a drizzle of EVOO. Brown your beef, add in everything else and let it simmer about 20 minutes 🙂 .

Hi shay! I was going through sand which recipes on your blog and I came across your maple mustard chicken sandwiches. They look so yummy! We are not slow cooker people though. I have two questions.
1) can this be made without a slow cooker? If so how would I do it? Would I boil the chicken then add everything to a second pot to heat up?
2) my 3 year old daughter has a severe nut allergy and can’t eat most BBQ sauces. Is there something I could use as an alternative? Thanks so much! I love your easy family recipes so much!

Yes! I would prepare it exactly as you said on the stove top and then let it all simmer together. You might want to make your own BBQ sauce with some ketchup, brown sugar, a little apple cider vinegar, just a bit of mustard and Worcestershire sauce. If you do this, you’re controlling what’s inside!
