It’s Friday…and there is so much going on today!
First, it’s Thursday morning as I’m typing this and the kids’ don’t have school today because of ice…looking at the forecast, I’m assuming they won’t have school tomorrow either and then on top of that, they already had Monday and Tuesday off for a four day weekend. Soooo…when you add that with the fact that we’re supposed to be celebrating both Valentine’s today at school and the Chinese New Year, my brain is fried.
I have a few quick Friday Faves, and then I’m heading off to enjoy the no snow snow day with my kiddos (puzzles, movies and baking are on the menu!). I am also going to take Monday off since the kids are home for the long weekend which means, I won’t be back here until Tuesday. I hope you all have a cozy, warm weekend celebrating Valentine’s Day with the ones you love! As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my faves.
Happy long weekend!
When Andrew and I sat down and chatted this week about life and marriage, so many of you reached out and asked me about…
…our ACK letters (that’s the airport code for Nantucket, MA). We bought them off of Etsy! Aren’t they fun?! The shop is called Saw & Steel, and they’re the 24″ letters.
Guys, this next favorite could be a favorite every single week of the year…every single year. I don’t know why I don’t talk about this more often, but I bet you’ve seen these in the background of hundreds of my pictures…
…the trays 🙂 .
I bought these trays four years ago, and we still use them MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. They’re not just great for eating off of, but they’re great for crafting and coloring because they keep everything contained. I’m serious, my kids probably pull these trays out three or four times a day. I get questions about them all the time, but never remember to make them a fave…until today!
I was watching Stories the other day and Rachel Parcell was talking about…
…Magic Spoon cereal. She made it sound so delicious, that I bought one of the four-packs, and we LOVE it!! Not only is it delicious, but look at the description…
We bought cocoa, peanut butter, frosted and cinnamon. I think our very favorite is peanut butter but cinnamon is a close second.
They’re all really good!
And wrapping up today…

And I bet they make you faster and stronger 😉 . (We already know they’ll make your legs look super cute!!)
Erika Slaughter says
So funny that you shared the trays today because they arrived at my house just yesterday!

The trays!! I literally scoured your blog last week trying to find a link to them and finally found them on Andrea’s blog but so glad you made them a favorite because they’re so great for kids!
Meredith says
Hi Shay. Always Love your Friday Favorites! Would you share what eye make up palette you are using these days? Your makeup looks so pretty in the picture you posted holding the cereal boxes.
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m using this one here!! Every single day!!https://mixandmatchmama.com/2021/01/5-minute-makeup-with-tarte/
Sheaffer Sims says
So this is weird…..it’s been years since I’ve bought cereal. Nobody in my house really cares about it. But those look delish!
Leticia says
Same here – haven’t bought cereal for years, but tried Magic Spoon a few months ago and now we get a box of 4 every other month! I like that they are low sugar and high protein and taste good! Our favorites are chocolate and frosted.
Meredith says
Shay…I should have said YOU look pretty in the picture with the cereal boxes. But I hope it goes without saying!!!!!
Lauren Middleton says
Smith wearing a Red Sox hat!! ??
Mix and Match Mama says
I wish! His little league team uses the Boston “B” for their Broncos.
Lauren Middleton says
Oh dang, I thought he came over from the dark side for a minute! ha
Jennifer Sickle says
I was at Target the other day and they now carry 2 cereal brands similar to Magic Spoon. Wonderworks is the brand and Kashi also has a Keto cereal as well. I bought the Wonderworks and it is pretty good and cheaper than Magic Spoon. I would be curious to see how they compare.
Gail J Prowant says
Thanks Shay for the wonderful post. I am going to try the cereal. I keep hearing about it. I wondering if you could share information about your blue rug and fabric for the curtains and cushion. They look beautiful! I am looking to redo my home a little. Thanks again!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, none of that is current. I’m sorry! The window seat cushion and the window treatments are all custom (I picked the fabric and someone made them). The rug was also custom from a place called Anderson’s which is now out of business.
Denise M says
Love the letters but curious why you picked Massachusetts? ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Our very favorite place is Nantucket!
Becky B says
Your Valentine cocoa is adorable! I’m excited to make it for my girl who loves all things pink!
Gwyn Hardin says
Shay,
Hey there. So I’m going hiking and camping the next few months and was wondering what device is the best for reading ebooks? Do you have any idea? It needs to be light in weight. My daughter has a Nook which feels quite heavy.
I love your book lists and hope to get through quite a few of the books on our big trip.
Thanks!
Gwyn
Mix and Match Mama says
I only use my kindle paperwhite (the waterproof edition) and love it!!
Ranisa Brletich says
Wait, wait, wait. Behind the kids in the dinning room, on the window seat….did you just pick up the place settings and move them? When you are done with dinner you clean off the table and put them back? Do your decorations (place settings) get dusty? How often do you end up washing them. Is this the normal thing? Am I missing something in my life?
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s exactly what I do! I switch out what’s on my kitchen table seasonally. They get dusted off weekly, but for the most part, they stay super clean!
Ranisa Brletich says
Now I have a new goal. I wonder if I left them on the table if my boys would turn them into frisbees? I already got rid of the launching pads (end tables) in the living room. Wish me luck. ?

Hi Shay-
I love your blog and have been reading it for more years then I can count:) I cannot wait to order and try Magic Spoon. I have been listening to the ladies over on “The Big Boo” podcast talk about it and love it 🙂 Have a great weekend XOXO
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s crazy good!! Get the cinnamon!!
Debbra Weber says
Stay warm and safe! We have been battling snow, ice, 0 and below zero degree weather all week. I also saw the post for the cereal on Rachel Parcell’s post so after I saw you tried it and loved it, I just placed my order! Have a great long weekend together!!
Lisa Elliott says
Before I finished reading the post . . .I ordered the trays! I had asked about them a few days ago! Thanks for sharing. By the way, I’m a grandmother . . .not a mother with young kids. I foresee using these with the granddaughters BUT I also know I will use them, too!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES! You’re going to love them as a grandmother too!!!
Alissa says
I just bought a 4 pack of Magic Spoon cereal and am looking forward to trying them! I am OBSESSED with cereal so I am excited for this being that they’re a healthier alternative and I know my 3 year old will love them as well!
Mix and Match Mama says
My kids love, love, love it!
Jillian says
I bought these tray, but they were bowed, so it made it hard to do anything on them. I finally threw them away. Yours look more sturdy than the ones I got. Have you had to replace them?
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t replaced them yet. You must have received a bad batch because mine are super old!
Andrea says
This post came at the perfect time! I try and stick to a low carb diet, and I have been craving cereal lately. I just ordered a four pack of Magic Spoon and can’t wait to try it!
Joanne says
So, now I am curious… what IS in the cereal?! I can’t imagine cereal without any sort of grain at all…
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
We’ve had trays similar to those for years and years too!! We use them for everything! And I’m craving some pink cocoa right now!! ❤️ That Inspired Chick
Kristy Moore says
Oh, I hope you guys are safe! I was watching Good Morning America this morning and saw that terrible multi-car pile up near Fort Worth due to the ice! How scary! Maybe we need to send down some of our Winter tires to you guys!
Have a great Valentine’s Day Shull family! xoxo
Kate Lee says
You have to try mixing the cereal flavors together. My kids love guessing what combo I’ve come up with!!
Susan McKain says
Happy Lunar New Year and Happy Valentine’s Day to you and the whole family. Stay warm, and have fun.❤️?
Lizzie says
