Happy Monday, friends!
I’m kicking off this week by sharing pics of our little laundry room update!
If you’ll recall, when we built our house 7 years ago, we built my office into the laundry room because it was convenient, out of the way, a good use of space, and I could shut the door and make it a little private if I needed it to be. Plus, at the time, I had a 4 and 5 year old, so being near to the laundry all day pretty much summed up my world. Fast forward to today and well, my business is much larger than I ever anticipated, so I needed a bit more space…
…you can read all of the details about my new office HERE.
So, our original plan was just to move my work stuff out of the laundry room, clean it up a bit and then Andrew would use the space when he needed to work from home. Well, we did that…and after about three months, it just felt a bit sad to me. Without all of my work stuff, it just lost its pop and felt like a neglected space, so we decided to give it a facelift. (I mean…at this point, we’ve redone our entire house, so why not go ahead and do the laundry room too?! Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.)
If you forgot what the laundry room looked like before, here are a few pics…
…awwww! I loved that space so much!
So, that was before, here is now…
…freshened up a bit 🙂 .
We left the floors, but we put in new counters, painted the cabinets, replaced the hardware, changed out the sink and of course, replaced the wallpaper too.
I absolutely love it!!!
We even organized and cleaned out the closet in there too!
This is where we’ve always marked their heights 🙂 .
It’s light, it’s bright, it’s fresh and it makes me happy when I’m in there doing 14 loads of laundry a day.
Now, do not worry about Andrew Shull working from here. I’ve had a few people reach out and ask me if we were going to put up Yankees wallpaper and make it a “mancave” since I had it all girly for so many years. The answer is…NO! Ha! Andrew has 1700 square feet of office space where he works all day long at his legit office and trust me when I say, it looks like a proficient hunter that loves the Yankees and Kansas State University works there. It is an insane office filled to the the brim of “Andrew-ness”, so don’t you worry about him. He has a huge man space that is 100% all his own. I suggested he paint the walls there the other day and he was like “no, leave my space alone”. Ha! Noted, Andrew. Noted. So, yes, he can work from here on days when he needs to come home early, check on a client after hours, but he has an intense man space of his own.
One other thing…I’m sure I’m about to get comments that ask “what is with all of your cookbooks?”. Oh gosh. Let me explain…
…well, putting them there was Andrew’s idea. Here’s the deal, after you author a book, the publisher offers the author books to purchase at an insanely inexpensive price. So, every single time my publisher has offered, I’ve looked at the price and been like “sure, I’ll take a thousand”. I’ve authored six. You do the math. They arrive in boxes that over the years, I’ve just stacked in the garage and then anytime I speak somewhere, I grab a bunch to pass out (for free, I never sell them!) or if a friend/family asks, or if I need to donate some for a charity auction (always with a slow cooker!), I have them. Is 6000 too many? Yes. But I paid like $4 for all of them (kidding…sort of)…so it seemed very reasonable at the time. Fast-forward to now and Andrew wanted to get some out of the garage…so he put them in the shelves. That is the long answer to why the shelves are filled with my books. But seriously, they were so cheap for me to buy and really, I’ll never author another book again, so I sure should hoard the ones I have written. #eeeeeeks #itsalotofbooks
