Happy happy Friday!
We’re back to cold weather over here. I keep going from “give me the fire and cozy blanket” to “where are my shorts and flip flops?”.
Agh!
Texas.
I feel like this might be our last “not crazy” weekend for a while as soccer and baseball start back up next weekend (along with volleyball already in progress), so I’m going to try to E-N-J-O-Y every second of it! I hope you enjoy your weekend too!
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my faves!
Happy weekend, y’all!
First up though, have we talked about this?! …
Sheaffer told me to do this last summer, and I immediately loved it! I did this very consistently until the fall when it just stopped being a part of my routine (and I only used self-tanner on my face instead), but last week, I picked up my bronzer drops and started again and friends, I love it just as much! Here’s what you do…you take your sunscreen and squeeze a bit into the palm of your hand followed by 1 to 2 drops of the bronzer. Rub it together, apply all over your face and then proceed with your makeup. It’s one tiny little step that produces just a hint of bronzy glow without looking too tan. This bronzer is NOT self-tanner, so it will wash off at night when you’re done which can be a great thing if you just want a little extra glow one particular day and not for several days. Sheaffer, once again, I’m obsessed, friend!
Two weeks ago, I shared…
…all my winter morning skin routine. You can see that entire post HERE! The bronzer drops are just one more little step you could add in there with the sunscreen!

Me oh my oh…what has happened?! Look…
Also, you can find Kensington’s dress HERE(in white) and her shoes are HERE in cafe.
…sigh. Last Friday night, Kensington had her first official middle school dance. She had the BEST time going with her bestie…
…they met up with friends and had a blast. While they were at the dance, Andrew, Tab, Erika and I drowned our sorrows in chips and guacamole at a nearby restaurant.
Babies don’t keep you guys…
…here they are in KINDERGARTEN (which was legit like yesterday!) at their school’s “family” Valentine’s dance. Please note, who was supposed to be watching those three, clearly naughty, boys in the background?!?! I mean…they’re like four and Bowen is probably two and they all three seem up to no good 😉 .
Babies. Don’t. Keep…
Love these two girls 🙂 .
Eeeeks! I’m so excited to share this with you guys! You know my friend Lori who creates the most amazing, unique and personalized plates and platters for me? She has been a big part of our lives for over ten years now…
Well, SHE FINALLY GOT A WEBSITE!
WOOHOO!!!!!
I am so excited and know that many of you are too!
I actually met Lori for the first time over ten years ago at Sheaffer’s house, and we became fast friends. Over the years, she has created countless plates and platters that I truly treasure. Ask my kids, ask my hubby…I’m not super sentimental, but if I could only grab a few things from my house to keep forever, it would be these items.
If you’re not local, you can still design amazing pieces and Lori ships 🙂 .
Easy as that!
Just look…
When Lori told me that she was (finally!) launching a website, I was THRILLED! I hope you all go check it out right HERE!
Okay, here’s the deal.
Kensington told me that she wanted to start drinking more water and asked if I would drink it with her (to hold each other accountable).
She picked out two water bottles for us on Amazon, and we ordered them.
And then they arrived.
And I laughed OUT LOUD…
…it’s the size of a small child.
I mean…WHAT IN THE WORLD?! It’s a one gallon-sized bottle and well, it’s sitting here next to me at my desk. I have yet to drink it all in one day (I’ve been trying since Saturday), but to be fair, I drink like 5 sparkling waters and three cups of coffee a day, so how am I supposed to drink this too?! Kensington hasn’t finished it off yet either, but we’re both trying and well, that means we’re both drinking a lot of water. Needless to say, this bottle comes in so many colors (hers is blue), and if you need to drink more too, you can find them HERE. Also, my neon pullover is HERE.
Finally today…
…Kensington’s new favorite recipe finally made it to my blog! If you’re looking for an EASY weeknight supper idea, here you go 🙂 .
That’s it for this week! Thank you all so much for coming by every day to say hi to me. I’m so thankful for all of YOU!!!!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo
Erika Slaughter says
Awwwww!!!! Look at that picture of all those babies! Can’t believe they got all dressed up for their first dance!
Elspeth says
I can’t believe how big your children are getting! I’ve tried the water challenges and they are tough!

Becky says
I have that water bottle too and have been through the entire thing plus a little since January. The only problem – input means output. I am up ALL night and I drink most during the day……
Kate says
Random question… I finally got some Ugg slippers after hearing how much you love yours. How do you clean them? Do you?? I wear them all the time!! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I mostly do not clean them (as I feel like they stay pretty clean inside my house). A few times, I’ve had to throw them in the washing machine and then air dry them. Works like a charm!
Sheaffer says
I’m dying! I just started the glow screen and bronzer drop combo again this week too!!!! I forgot how much I loved it! The kn pic of the girls make me want to bawl my head off, and now I want frito pie for breakfast. I actually grabbed everything for the King Ranch soup yesterday, so I’ll be making that this weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
You’ve had many moments of brilliance…and this is one of them!
Tamara says
I bought that bottle when I was nursing my now one year old and I can confirm, at one point they were indeed the same size ?
Side note, but I’d love to know what your babies were like as sleepers. First time mama going through it right now and looking for some encouragement ♥️ Love your blog!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww! Well, the beauty of my blog is that you can find posts about them at literally every single age! If you go back to the archives (on the sidebar), look at fall 2008 through 2010 for lots of baby content. Kensington was not a great sleeper. At 5½ months, my aunt told me to stop waking up with her and make her cry it out. We did and three days later, she was a sleeping champ. Smith was sleeping 12 hours each night at 7 weeks and was ALWAYS a fabulous napper (so many blog posts about his daily 3 hour nap). God bless Smith 😉 .
Sue Jones says
Okay. I have a question. On the makeup products. I have purchased every one. LOL But on the creamer bronzer do you put that on your whole face or just your t-zone area? And…………I am loving every one of these products!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhh! I love this bronzer so much! I actually put mine on my cheekbones and then up and down my jaw line (so a 3 on one side of my face and a backwards 3 shape on the other). I just cannot find anything better!
Katie says
We have the same water bottle and we call it “the baby”.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh, I’m calling mine that from now on! Bahahahaha!
Kristin Baetz says
The water bottle gave me a good laugh this morning! Love it!!
Lori Whittington says
LOVE the plates, but isn’t Smith’s birthday wrong on the cupcake plate?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yup. We keep meaning to fix it, but I always forget.
Lauren says
Where is K’s dress from? It’s so adorable. Have a great weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
I will add a link right now! Happy Friday!
Lakenia J. says
I am ordering the water bottle! Do you have a link to the neon pullover? Thanks.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve talked about it before! I love it! I will add a link right now. Happy Friday!
Carlin says
Have you tried Altr’d State for Kensington to shop at? I adore that store for so many reasons!
KG says
I literally laughed out loud at the water bottle. Trey Kennedy has a really funny clip on those! How do people do it?!
Candace Young says
I’m loving the micellar toner to blogged about it is great for my sensitive skin also all the Colleen Rothschild products except the scrub is to harsh for me! I also love the super goop glow screen! It’s perfect for a quick coverage, with some lipgloss, eyeliner and cream blush! Ready for errand day with these products! My daughter in law turned me on to Schaffer and Mix Match Mama! Love your blogs! ❤️
Deb says
That water jug, lol. Have you tried Topo-Chico sparkling mineral water? So yummy and holds its fizz for days even after opening a bottle.
Carolyn says
Are you going to start book club back up again?
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s undecided right now!
Jan says
I love that Kensington wants to drink more water. Remember that the sparkling water you drink, is DEhydrating….so now you can make up for that.
Jessica says
Do you have a link to your watch band? Love the color!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from the Apple store! It’s one of their Nike bands!
Michele says
Both girls are SO darn cute with their braces!! Won’t be long before the boys come calling & then Andrew will really be pacing…. Haha
Kelly says
Hahaha, I have the half-gallon version, and I think that’s huge, and I struggle to finish! I can’t believe how big Kensington is! I started reading your blog when I was in high school, and now we’re building our first house. It’s been so fun following along the past ten years! (Wow, I didn’t realize it’s been that long until I started typing this.)
Ali J. says
I can relate! My daughter will be 14 in July and in August start high school. She’ll always be my baby though, no matter how old she is!
Stephanie says
Do you have the link for Kensington’s shoes for the valentine’s day party?! So cute!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Let me find them! I will add that too!
Brit says
Random question but your ear piercing post last year inspired me to get my top cartilage pierced again. Can you give an update? How long it took to heal? I’m on the struggle bus and mine aren’t healing as quickly as I would hope. It’s been almost 3 months. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Not to discourage you or anything…but I would say it took a solid 12 months for them to be completely healed. They would be off and on, but after 12 months, they’re completely healed. Hang in there!!
Brit says
Oh gosh! It sounds like I have a long way to go! Thank you. Any suggestions for earrings other than the ones in the last post?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have been just using the little Amazon ones I’ve talked about before. They’re easy to put in and out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RZHQF58/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Lisa D says
Oh my gosh…. the make up, the heels, the dresses! Your “little girls” are growing up! Hang in there Mama ?
Chelsey says
Great post! Kensington’s shoes are so cute – have to share that if you search braided heels on Amazon there is a very similar, comfortable pair for like $40.
Alison says
Oh, I’m so excited about Lori’s new website! I can’t wait to order something from her! Have a wonderful weekend!
Candace You says
Also, could you share you beach wave hair routine that you do each day! Your always looks awesome!
Mix and Match Mama says
I did an entire post on it! https://mixandmatchmama.com/2022/01/easy-waves-for-your-monday/
Laura says
The water thing! I have a 13 year old too and she just asked me for a giant bottle so she can drink more water. Must be a teenager thing 🙂
Angela says
My HS boys carry around gallon water jugs and finish them off daily. Just an FYI….if you drink that much water you really need to be adding electrolytes to it or mix it in. That much water will flush them out. Both boys add a sleeve of Liquid IV to their jugs or drink a coconut water or Gatorade in the middle of the day to add the electrolytes back. Just an fyi so you don’t learn the hard way like we did;)
Karla says
Hi Shay, hope it’s ok to leave my question here about dogs. Do you have a favorite app or dog sitting service you use for your fur babies? Thanks so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
We use the Rover app! It’s been such a blessing to our family!!
