Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for this month’s LET’S LOOK!
If you don’t know what this is, once a month, Erika and I do a little link up where we “look” at different aspects of our lives (and then if you blog, you share and link up too!). We have been doing this little linky party for years now, and it’s always one of my favorite posts each month because most of the topics are YOUR suggestions!
So far in 2024, here’s what we’ve “looked at”…
In January, we looked at HOW WE CLEAN OUR CLOSETS.
In February, we looked at LITTLE THINGS WE DO EVERY SINGLE DAY.
In March, we looked at WHAT’S IN OUR GROCERY CARTS.
In April, we looked at OUR QUIET TIME/PRAYER TIME.
In May, we looked at OUR SUMMER CLOSET STAPLES.
In June, we looked at OUR SUMMER SCHEDULES.
And today, we’re LOOKING AT OUR FAVORITE PODCASTS & SHOWS TO BINGE.
I decided since I’m not really binge-ing any shows right now that I’ll focus today on my “must listen” podcasts instead.
The five podcasts below are the ones where I NEVER miss an episode. After I inserted all of the images, I realized that there is one for my spiritual growth, two for my physical wellbeing, one for inspiration and one for entertainment…an accidental variety!
I’m not sure what you’re looking for right now, but hopefully, one (or more!) of these will be a nice, new addition to your routine.
Here you go:
#1: THE BIBLE RECAP
This is my third year reading through the Bible with The Bible Recap (and my second year to have a group that we would LOVE you to join!!) which means this podcast is played every single morning at my house. You can read all of the details HERE, but if you’ve always wanted to really study the Bible, read it through in 365 days and truly understand, comprehend and build on your relationship with the Lord through His word, I cannot think of a better way to do it. The best part is that you don’t have to wait until January 1st to start…you can start ANY TIME!
#2: THE DRIVE
Whether you subscribe to the private feed like me (to get extended content) or listen to his “normal” free episodes, this is the man behind…
…my FAVORITE book on health and longevity. These episodes are long and very detailed, but I promise you, listen and you’ll feel more educated and more empowered about your own health. My kids say “bingo” now every time I say “Peter Attia” because I quote him and this podcast so often. There are no ads, so it’s just 2+ hours of amazing medical content for the lay person.
A bonus podcast episode you might want to listen to is this one…
…where Dax Shepard interviews Peter Attia on his podcast, Armchair Expert. Hearing Peter as the guest instead of the host was really eye opening and beneficial for me as well.
Speaking of health and wellness…
#3: EVERYDAY WELLNESS
Well, you know I love Cynthia Thurlow (who wrote the book I LOVE on Intermittent Fasting!), and I LOVE her podcast too. She speaks on a wide variety of health and wellness topics (almost exclusively for women but beneficial for all) from hormone replacement therapy, perimenopause/menopause, exercise, nutrition, supplements…it’s way more than IF. This podcast is really laser focused women’s health talk that truly was the podcast that changed the way I viewed my own health and wellness. I have gone back and listened to every single episode now, and I’m not exaggerating when I say, this was THE biggest catalyst in prompting my new outlook on my own health.
#4: THE SIMPLE SOPHISTICATE
I found her podcast before I found her three books (which I LOVE!)…
…and I get excited with each and every new episode. Shannon covers everything from style to gardening, recipes, Francophile finds, Anglophile finds, but most of all, it’s about living consciously and savoring every single day. I find this podcast so inspiring, so motivating, filled with wonderful, positive information that I’ve easily been able to incorporate into my life. Turning on this podcast instantly puts me in a happy mood. It makes me want to visit my farmers market, walk my dogs, read a book and pour a cup of tea. I just find every episode filled with nuggets to inspire, encourage and motivate me to be more present in my own life.
And finally…
#5: THE OFFICE LADIES
This was the podcast that got me hooked on podcasts 🙂 .
I love these ladies because they’re funny, they’re light-hearted…they feel like listening to friends gab. Even if you didn’t watch the show, I think you’d enjoy listening to the podcast if you’re looking for lighthearted girlfriend fun. They are almost done recapping the television series, and I hope, hope, hope they just start over and do it again. I will miss them if anything changes. They both seem so genuine, authentic and lovely.
Those are my TOP 5 PODCASTS!
Of course, I want your opinions too please! Please share in the comment section any other podcasts I should listen to regularly. Of course, I listen to other podcasts, but these five are my faves and ones I never ever miss.
Okay don’t forget, coming up this year…
…next month, we’ll share WHAT’S IN OUR PANTRY!
Also don’t forget…

Have the best day, friends! xx

Hi Shay! Thanks for sharing. Excited to check out the Simple Sophisticate. Do you have any specific recommended episodes from each of your podcasts that you felt really hit home??
Also, since you love Peter Attia, I highly recommend the Doctors Farmacy with Dr. Mark Hyman. Mark Hyman also owns function health which is an amazing offering that gives you SO many bloodwork results for an affordable rate price and they also have a holistic doctor review all of the results to give you a personalized plan moving forward (ie diet, supplements, etc relevant to you).
Lastly, I just got home from a wonderful vacation in Ireland and Spain that Clare helped us plan. It was WONDERFUL and forever grateful for your travel agency. This was our 3rd or 4th trip with your teams help but the 1st one with a toddler in tow!! A different type of vacation for sure but soo many memories were made. You always inspire me to travel!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hi Alysa! Thank YOU for allowing us to be a part of your vacations! We are always so blessed to work with you. I am so touched by your kindness here. I have seen Doctors Farmacy as a rec on my podcast app, but I have never listened. I will though! Are you into French-inspired living? Or British culture? If so, look for her episodes specifically dedicated to those topics (on her website, she breaks them down by category). It’s hard to tell you where to start, but when I started listening, I just started with episode #1 and instantly fell in love. Maybe you do that?
Brooke H. says
Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey!! Christian podcast that hits on news, politics, theology, health, etc. from a conservative Christian perspective.

We miss your podcast!
Mix and Match Mama says
I miss the actual recording too!! I wish Erika and I had figured it out (tech wise). It was so much added work just getting the technical stuff handled. We needed just to show up and record, but it was so much more than that.
Leah says
I miss it too!! It was a weekly must listen for me 🙂 totally understand the time and technicalities not being worth it though!
Lauren B. says
Me too!!!

Hi Shay! I just got Cynthia Thurlow’s book and just started listening to current episodes of her podcast! What are the top 3 best/most helpful episodes you’d recommend someone would go back and listen to?
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
oh that’s too tough to even know how to answer. Hmmm…I really just started with her (at that time) newest episode and then once I realized how much I loved each week’s episode, I went back and started from #1. They’re all different and all so valuable!

Also, if you watched ‘This is Us’ (GREAT show) their new podcast ‘That Was Us’ is fantastic. But don’t listen unless you’ve already finished the show as there are many spoiler alerts!

Hi Shay,
Thank you for your recommendations. You had recommended a specific episode of Peter Attia’s and I couldn’t listen but now I know why 😉 thanks for clarifying that. I have his book and am working through it as well.
My absolute favourites are Mind Pump (those three guys are brilliant!!) and they seem to be in my head right now and putting out episodes I have questions about. They deliver so much quality information about health and fitness.
My other favourite is The Made Fitz show with Melissa McAllister and Dr Lauren Fitz.
Thank you for always inspiring us to be better!

I never miss the Popcast. They make me laugh so much! And the BigBoo Cast.. Melanie and Sophie are so fun and I feel like we’re actual friends (not in a stalkery way I swear. haha)
Tiffany says
I finished Outlive yesterday (as per your suggestion). The chapter on sleep got my attention the most (although it was all very interesting). I have recommended the book to many other people I’ll have to check out his podcast next (and some Office Ladies too)

The BigBoo Cast and Calm Down. They are the highlight of my week! Both never fail to make me laugh out loud.

A college girlfriend of mine, Christina Hom Wilson, does a wonderful podcast on grief called “Sisterhood Through Grief”. She and her friends lost their spouses and bonded through their grief support group… they now share their knowledge and wisdom from their personal journeys. I’m not in that space but I find it to be a very powerful podcast as I struggle to find the words with those who are suffering.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow! That is so powerful!
Joanna says
Thanks for the suggestions. Also thanks to all the people adding in their favorites. So many good finds here!
Anna Pry says
Going to try out suggestion #4, and her books look like ones I would enjoy

Bethany Gable says
My favorites: Storytellers Live, God Gives God: Back in Chapel with Mrs. Penn, Dateline (!), The Good Hard Story with Katherine Wolf, and Sue’s Healthy Minutes. If you really want to take a deep dive into what has been done to our food, especially our bread, you should listen starting with Episode 1!
Alex says
Hi Shay — long time reader, first time commenter! Speaking of podcasts, I really miss your podcast! When are you and Erika going to pick it back up? I looked forward to it every week. I’m a mom of toddlers and listening to your podcast gave me perspective on what’s on the horizon for me as a mom, hearing all your takes on busy mom life. Would love it if y’all brought this back!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww! Thank you! We decided last summer to retire. As much as we enjoyed “podcasting”, we were terrible with the tech side, and that became way too much work for two girls who already have enough work. If someone came to our house and did all of that for us, we’d be in, but the two of us doing it alone was just too hard/time consuming.
Amy says
Smartless is my absolute favorite. So funny and it’s the perfect length for a one hour walk. Have you listened to Elin’s podcast, Books, Beach & Beyond? They talk to a different author each time and they talk about Nantucket a lot too. I feel like it’s right up your alley.

It’s so hard to pick Faves! My podcast app was getting sluggish, so yesterday I finally decided to delete it and start over. My pods were taking up 173 GB of space on my phone!
Andrea says
I listened to an Everyday Wellness podcast after reading this earlier and really liked it! We are big Peter Attia fans, but it’s nice to have one that focuses on women. Travel question…in your packing for fall travel post, you recommend the J.Crew stadium coat. Would that still be your recommendation for Paris and London in October or would a trench coat be warm enough?
Becky says
Since you like Peter Attia, you might also like The Huberman Lab podcast. He focuses a lot on health, longevity, etc but also has other science and wellness topics. I actually discovered Peter Attia through his podcast. He also recently had the author of The Anxious Generation on as a guest.

YAY!!!! This makes me so happy!

Shay,
I love Peter Attila’s book and podcast. I have made it through about 100 episodes so far. He is so unbelievably technical but I love that he backs everything up with proven trials. The information on the importance of 8 hours of sleep has changed my life. I’ve always been one to get by on 5 or 6. I have a history of Alzheimer’s in my family and Peter has such important amazing guests on his show that focus on the brain. I’m excited to start listening to Everyday Wellness. Thank you for the recommendation. It will be nice to get health info from a woman’s point of view.
Mix and Match Mama says
100 episodes of Peter Attia is like an extra education! Kudos to you!!
Liz Farese says
The Huberman Lab is such a great heath, science, technical podcast. Armchair Expert is so, so, good. A great mix of celebrity guests and expert guests in a number of different areas. Smartness is also super funny and interesting. I do miss your podcast. it was so refreshing listening to you too chat.
