Friends, tomorrow is our FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
We have a HUGE year at our house which means, we need to kick it off right with on of our favorite traditions…our FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL MENU 🙂 .
Over the years, we’ve created this menu and stick to it pretty faithfully each and every year as we head back to school. Whether you’re looking for a few new ideas for the school year or just want to see what my family will be eating today, I have it all for you right here.
Whether you’re going back as a teacher or sending your kiddos back today (or both!), here’s sending you lots of love!
Happy First Day of School!
Maple Sausage Balls are a MUST at our house!! Once you make these, you’ll want to make them again and again! We make these year around, but they’re especially delicious on the first day of school.
Another savory breakfast option for your family…my Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Pigs in a Blanket!!
Years and years ago, my kids requested my green pancakes (which we typically make on St. Paddy’s Day!) for their first day of school breakfast and well, it stuck! We now make these every single year on the first day!
If green pancakes aren’t your thing…
…then you should try my Apple Bacon Pancakes instead! They are AMAZING!!
We always, always have my Butterscotch Maple No Bake Cookies after school on the first day. It’s such a special tradition!!
You can also always make these Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies too or…
...these Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Cookies!
For dinner, our tradition is lasagna 🙂 . You can make either my delicious g-free version or…
…my Provolone Lasagna. Both are winning first day of school recipes!
These foods are always such sweet ways to celebrate a new school year for our family. I hope you find a recipe or two to enjoy as well!
Happy first day!! xx

Any suggestions on what to replace the Italian Sausage with in the lasagna? Our family doesn’t really love Italian Sausage, and I’m not sure if we should go with another type of sausage or just go with ground beef.

You can certainly remove it and then add in a heaping tablespoon of Italian seasoning instead (to give it that burst of flavor) or we love using Italian chicken sausages in ours.

What are you using in place of crescent rolls for your pigs in a blanket these days to make them gf?? They’re a long time fave in our household and I haven’t found a good replacement since my daughter was diagnosed celiac and we misssss piggies! I haven’t even tried them in years now, just gave up on them being something we could have.

I haven’t found anything that stacks up to a good old fashioned crescent roll. I will use a gf pie crust or gf phyllo dough but nothing is as good.
