Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
I hope you’re having a great week, friends! It is “officially” officially SUMMER…
Here we go…
Well sort of…
Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, for the last month, I’ve been using these three supplements together.
I’m sharing the deets today in this week’s WELLNESS WEDNESDAY!
Spoiler alert: I love them and have already re-ordered!
The Shull family elected not to go on vacation this summer and instead spend more time on Nantucket. A plan I fully support…buuuuut…we did have a wonderful time last year, and I’ve certainly been thinking A LOT about that trip to…
You guys, this was one of our favorites! I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.
We are ABSOLUTELY LOVING…
…our CORDLESS BLACKOUT SHADES.
I cannot recommend them enough.
The photo above is when this one is drawn down…
…and here it is up.
Here is a side by side for you too…
…we have added them to every bedroom window here on Nantucket (where the sun comes in really early) right behind the FAUX-WOOD BLINDS that we also love so much. They are really easy to install, cordless, and reduce the bright light significantly.
So many of you have told me that you love them too including one of my friends who sent me this text…
…which is a screenshot of her husband texting her at work about how easy they are to install. Bahaha! This made me laugh! So easy and SO EFFECTIVE!
Well, I’ve been in Jamaica and then in McKinney with Kensington (who is currently at camp in Colorado), but the other four Shulls have been holding down the fort on Nantucket…
They have been busy bees all week. I think they’ve been to the beach almost every day and even made the drive out to Great Point…
…a seal sighting…
…and a Smith sighting 😉 .
I love having neighbor friends on Nantucket who send me a bazillion updates that boys forget to include (like the daily lemonade stands) and also sweet pictures like this…
…neighborhood fun happening every day for these two.
One night, they turned on the outside TV to watch a movie and…
…roast s’mores too. They’re in their happy place 🙂 .
I am not dreading today, but my heart always thinks about this day.
On June 25, 2007, eighteen years ago today, I miscarried my first baby.
It’s easy to sit here and tell that version of Shay not to worry because “everything is going to turn out better than you could ever imagine”, but that girl wouldn’t have cared. She was crushed and hurting and oh so deeply sad, and I guess my point is, I know there are so so so many of you who have miscarried too…and many very recently. I just wanted to tell you that I am very sorry. Our calendars are littered with dates that remind us of sad things, and today would be one of mine. Eighteen years later, and no, I wouldn’t change a thing…but that sadness was very real and my heart breaks for you who are experiencing it deeply now. If you ever need prayer or want to connect, please email me. I’d be honored. I am really really sorry for your loss.
July 4th is one of my favorite holidays…and the Fourth on Nantucket is always extra awesome.
I am so excited about next week! We will have both adult friends and teen friends on the island all week with us…
…and we are planning on soaking up all the July 4th fun!
This show was one of my Friday Faves last week…
…and if you haven’t watched it yet, I really enjoyed it. Now the language is rough and it is very dark and suspenseful, so please note that. As much as I love light and happy, I also love Matthew Goode, so when my dad suggested this one for me, it was an easy yes. It is very dark…but it will leave you on the edge of your seat. Very entertaining!
Also, as you know…
…for the second year in a row, I’m reading How To Be Chic in the Summer by Fiona Ferris. I read a few pages every morning with my coffee and quiet time and just find it oh so lovely. It will motivate and encourage you to feel your best even on the sweatiest summer day.
You know I never miss an episode of…
…the Everyday Wellness podcast. I wanted to highlight this new episode here because it’s shorter than her average episode and instead of having a guest on with her, she just answered reader questions. She quickly covers a lot of great material in this one episode. If you haven’t listened, I think you’ll enjoy it.
I don’t take pics every day of what I’m wearing, but if I did, you would see me wearing…
…THIS SKIRT on repeat. I know I’ve shared it before, but guys, I searched high and low for a long white skirt and this one was the only one I didn’t return. It’s white and yet IT’S LINED so you can’t see through it while…not being heavy and hot. It comes in 11 other colors too. Such a great skirt! (I wore it yet again just last night!)
Speaking of things I wear on repeat…
…THIS DRESS is worn so often that I took it to Nantucket for the first part of the summer and then packed it up and took it with me to wear in Jamaica and then packed it back up to take back to Nantucket and I will bring it home in August. I LOVE this dress! I love the pockets, I love that the fit isn’t too tight, I love how it doesn’t wrinkle…it is my favorite dress. It comes in 15 different color options too.
Another staple dress in my closet that I’ve had for two years now and still can’t get enough of is…
…THIS NORDSTROM DRESS! You guys, right now, THIS DRESS IS ONLY $22!
It comes in so many other colors too. Based on the price, the quality of this dress will shock you.
Take a look…
…how cute are these RAFFIA PEARL SANDALS…
TENNIS SKIRT + GAUZE TOP + RAFFIA PEARL SANDALS
And also…
…RAFFIA SHELL SANDALS too 🙂 .
And one last thing I can’t stop wearing is…
…my much beloved WEIGHTED VEST. Mine are both 12 pounds. I absolutely LOVE them!
BEACH, EAT, REPEAT!
And that wraps up this month’s WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY!
Don’t forget to check out today’s WELLNESS WEDNESDAY post too!

Are you planning to visit Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jaws? The event has garnered significant media attention.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh, it has! We ran into a friend just yesterday that lives on MV, and we talked about it. We certainly might visit. We tried to go a few weeks ago but the ferry schedule thwarted our plans. We still might though!
Tara C says
I got the dress and I love it too! The material is perfect and it’s nice and cool for our hot Florida days!!!

Could you connect me with the shoes you’re wearing with the cutestest guaze dress, please? I LOVE and appreciate starting every day with you, Shay.
Mix and Match Mama says
Those are oldies but goodies. I love them too 🙂 . I’m not near them right this second, but I *think* they’re Stuart Wiseman. I bought them at Nordstrom probably 5 years ago. Love them.
Bren says
Picked up my raffia shell sandals last night, love them! Now I’m even more anxious for a beach vacation! Thanks, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay! I wore the pearl ones just yesterday. They’re so comfy too, right?!

I understand your pain today. Several miscarriages and ten years later, the pain still resonates. You are never alone. Thank you for sharing that today. Makes us all feel better in some sad way that others understand this feeling. And we know we don’t wish that on anyone but we do find comfort in other’s understanding. Thank you for sharing this today.
Laura says
I’m so sorry for your losses. I also really appreciate when others are public about it to know we are not alone, and we never forget.
K.K. says
Love the updates!! 🙂
Also, thanks for sharing about the hard days. Praying for those readers who are struggling now too. I can’t imagine the heartbreak of losing a baby.
Heather Hightower says
That skirt is so flowy! I just love it!! I think I’m going to have to order one.
Nicole says
Love! I just ordered the supplements too! Thanks for sharing! Have you been enjoying a protein shake or smoothie still too? Listened to that podcast this morning and I have one every day – it’s so hard to get in all that protein without it for me! Have you been running more at all? Always love picking your brain with what you do! 😇 Thanks!
Oh! And my question regarding beach and drinks was mainly because when we have more celebratory days at the pool or beach, the poolside or day drinks come into play and I always love hearing how you balance things! It’s not a normal thing over here either! Thanks Shay!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Nicole, you are always, always so thoughtful with your questions. I truly love connecting here with you. I try really hard to get my protein from food, but yes, I still will have a protein smoothie if I don’t think it’s going to happen. I would estimate that I maybe have 3 a week to offset any protein deficit. Yesterday, I had time, so I made two eggs and two pieces of turkey bacon instead of a smoothie, but a smoothie is just easier to make and take with me/drink at my desk. Tomorrow will be a running day for me! I always run more when I’m here…right now, I would say it’s about 2 to 3 days a week.

I don’t know how I’ve never put this together, but I also miscarried 18 years ago, but mine was 7/23/07. I didn’t realize we had both miscarried so close together! It would have been our fourth baby, but it was still pretty devastating. I love the hopeful message you posted here, I agree. It took us quite a while to get pregnant again and I remember feeling so sad during those days. But you’re right- I couldn’t have imagined how the Lord answered our prayers with 3 more babies down the road!
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow, so close together, Dana. I think it’s so important for women to encourage other women. This happens to so many and often times, no one talks about it. I’m sorry for your loss. It’s such a devastating time.
Jenny N says
Summertime at a different beach every day with family is PERFECTION!!
I just ordered the black Amazon dress….it looks so comfortable and easy to dress up and down!
Megan says
What kind of camp is K doing in Colorado? It’s my happy place and considering it for my kiddos when they get older!
Mix and Match Mama says
Like a church camp 🙂
Beth Knecht says
Oh the unknown future is always hard.
So sad to hear about your miscarriage; I’m sure you still remember the pain that day brought!
I’m going through some post c-section complications and would love any prayers you could send up!
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course, Beth! I am so sorry you’re experiencing this right now. xx
Beverly says
shay, what brand is the vlack out. blinds and the weighted vest. I can’t open any of your links due to safesearch on my computer. I need bot items so please share the brands so I can google them. Thanks. Love, love, love your blog. And after your last challenge I have been able to get my LDL. down to 39 from 70 and my total. cholesterol to 93, pretty good for a 72 year old diabetic who now boxes 4 nights a week and tries to walk daily.
Mix and Match Mama says
That is amazing, Beverly! That’s really, really amazing! Both are from Amazon. The brand for the blackout blinds are AOSKY and the brand for the weighted vest is ZELUS.
Laura Holmes says
Ok love those pearl sandals! Definitely going to look at those!
Nova says
Thank you for message, really public service announcement!, about miscarriage. I experienced my second miscarriage a few months ago and *cliche* but true, IT IS SO HARD. It took us a long time to get pregnant. It is inspiring to see how God has provided your family. Thank you for being open and honest. I’m praying for peace, and the family God intends for us to come to fruition.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am just so sorry for you loss. So so sorry. xx
