Happy Friday, friends!
It’s the first Friday in September which honestly, sounds pretty darn amazing 🙂 .
I don’t know about you, but we have football, football, football this Friday night, and I plan on soaking it all in. We have a cheer clinic tomorrow too which makes this weekend twice as festive.
I hope you had a wonderful week. As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!

Well, I’m clearly embracing all things fall over here…

…I snapped this pic the other morning. Clearly, I’m in my element. I am such a walking “fall girl” cliche without even really trying, ha!
I kept thinking about Chandler from Friends…”could I be any more fall?”.

My SLIPPERS are always a fall fave around here!

I went to my neighborhood grocery store on Thursday morning and look what I found! Pumpkins and mums!
This is our first fall with our new front door and the other morning when I was walking Ashby out to Erika’s car for morning carpool, I realized…

…you can now see my fall decorations inside. I mean, someone who really loves her seasonal decor must live here 😉 .

A LIP PLUMPING GLOSS in a fall shade? Yes, please! It’s only $5 too!

This is my second time to buy THIS PALETTE. I’m always really pleased with the shades and how easily they blend especially for the price.

I recapped our trip to Lubbock on Tuesday. That little overnight trip included two favorite things…

…we love our EXPANDABLE CARRY ON HARDSIDE SPINNERS! These guys have been all over the place with us over these last six months. They’re on sale right now!
I have also been using (on repeat!)…

…MY STADIUM BAG! I’ve had a lot of clear bags in the past, but this one is my favorite because the strap is adjustable (you can wear it over the shoulder or crossbody), and it has a nice pocket. The cute little football bag inside was a gift from my friend Lauren 🙂 .
Speaking of Lauren…

…when we arrived in Lubbock, she had been on a separate flight and watched…

…Nonnas on Netflix and told us we should watch it too. You guys, it is SO CUTE!! I watched a little bit every day while I ate my lunch. It’s absolutely adorable!

The top ten products reminded me, your Skechers recommendation was my #1, with a twist. I found a pair for my husband. He needed a hands-free house shoe with more support than a slipper. He loves his new Skechers!
Have a great weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay!! That’s a great twist!!
Gail Morgan says
I’m interested in the men’s Sketchers…do I just search for Go Walk Men?
Lindi says
It’s good you feel that attending so much football stuff and cheer clinics is “festive.” I think I’d categorize it as feeling “busy”! I always feel like our best weekends are the ones where we slow down from the pace of the week! Do you ever get tired of having the weekends full?
Mix and Match Mama says
My kids primarily only do fall sports (cheer is year around but basketball games and such where she cheers are on weeknights in the winter/spring), so we get our fair share of “easy” weekends. We wait all year for this football season stuff, so yes, it feels festive. Come mid-November, it will be over until this time next year.
Maria says
How is the sunrise alarm clock going with Andrew? We need an update.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, our alarm goes off at 4:00 AM now (to get Smith out the door by 4:30) which meant the sunrise would start at 3:40. We’ve decided that’s too early for birds and sun, ha! Kensington uses it now every day and loves it! I’m going to try again after football season is over.
Maria says
Happy to Kensington is enjoying it. Keep us posted when you resume it with Andrew we are awaiting his thoughts on it.
Have you been to Trader Joe’s this week? Yesterday they put out all their pumpkin products. I really wish they would announce this ahead of time. Some items sell out in my area and do not restock. Like one case and done. Gotta head out there now for pumpkin muffin mix!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s on my list to go today!

Have the best fall festive football weekend!!! Can’t wait for the annual home tour. 🙂
Lindsey says
I’ve been wondering about that movie! I will definitely check it out. Just watched the Thursday Murder Club last night after having read the first two books in the series. It is slow-paced, but really cute! I am really looking up to the older generation lately and finding inspiration there. Who knows, maybe I’ll start solving murders when I’m in a retirement home, lol! If nothing else, I’m inspired to stay active and engaged in life into my older years. Hope you have a happy Fall weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
My parents told me to watch it too. It’s on my list!
Erika Slaughter says
I’ve gotta watch that Nonna’s movie ASAP!

I always love your posts! I especially like all of the variety. Anyway, I saw your slow cooker in one of your pictures today. Do you recommend the one you have? Any recommendations? I’m in need of a new one. Mine is old and gets too hot. Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I love it so much! It’s from All Clad. I bought mine at Williams-Sonoma.

I feel like you mentioned once that you have an email newsletter. Is that accurate? If so, how do I sign up?
You have really helped me so much reframe my thoughts about September. I remember being so shocked when you said years ago that September is your favorite month. Living in Texas, I have always dreaded it because it is hot, and I am ready for the cool weather. Not now, I have my fall decorations ready to be put out this weekend. I am deciding to embrace September even if it is hot because a positive attitude goes a long way, and before too long it will actually feel like fall. You are such a bright light on the internet.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well goodness, THANK YOU for the kind words! I am so so happy to have inspired you to enjoy September too 🙂 . You can sign up for my newsletter on the righthand side of my blog. There is a big green box to sign up. I’d love to have you!!
Molly Bretl says
Going to check out the store for those fall pumpkins and decor! Love fall!
Katie Stewart says
I LOVED Nonna’s! So neat that it’s based on a true story! And, I have the very same Hydro Jug that Kensington has on her top 5. I feel so hip and trendy right now. 😆
Cindi says
We loved Nonnas, too! I’m curious if you and/or Kensington are caught up in The Summer I Turned Pretty craze? If so, Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah? Inquiring minds want to know…☺️
Mix and Match Mama says
Erika was having dinner at my house this week and she, Ashby and Kensington were having a BIG conversation about it. I’ve never watched it (or read the books), so I was clueless.
Dana J says
I think the Nonna’s movie will be on my watch list this weekend!!
Bri says
Thank you for reminding me I need to buy a new pair of slippers!
Dana says
Hey Shay! Do you still use slow cooker liners? Would you recommend?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t. I haven’t seen them in stores in a long time, so I stopped using them. I sure liked them though.
Lisa N says
Walmart+ delivers them😉
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
Oooo adding Nonnas to my watch list this weekend! Thanks for sharing!!
Lindsay says
Nona’s looks adorable! Will have to watch!
Heather S says
OK, so I saw the very last episode of Nonnas when I was getting my nails done. And then I had to go back home and rewatch the whole thing😄 It is so cute and definitely gives the fall vibes with all the hearty cooking. Love that it was based upon a true story as well!
Jennifer says
I sure enjoy your Friday Favorites posts each week! I have forever. I’ve been reading your blog for 10 years now, which is just wild to me. I remember buying those Sketchers per your recommendation years ago and I loved them. I might need a new pair!
WhittyWife (Lindsay) says
I love that you’re embracing your basic Fall girl. I certainly am too! 😄 We went apple picking this weekend (we live in Maine), made apple crisp and decorated for Fall last week, I just started our dinner in the slowcooker, and this morning I made the most delicious pumpkin creamer. I feel like we both live our best lives in the Fall! 🍁🍂
kerry says
I love that makeup palette. Such pretty fall colors!!!
Kaylee F says
I have and love that waffle maker too! Perfect way to make breakfast fun for kids!
