Happy FRIDAY!
OCTOBER + FRIDAY is a really solid combination.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!

If this is you too, I hope you saw yesterday’s blog post. I shared my SEPTEMBER BOOK REVIEW!
Your weekend probably needs to check out the comment section for new book recs.
Your weekend probably also needs to make a batch of BLENDER PUMPKIN MUFFINS too!
Happy Friday!

Did you come on in?
This week, I shared my annual SPOOKTACULAR HOME TOUR. If you missed all the cozy deets, make sure you catch that post HERE.
Inviting you guys into my home (even if it’s virtually) is always a favorite of mine.

I noticed that some of my favorite athleticwear companies have a lot of “traditional” sweatpants out right now. I don’t own any “traditional” sweatpants, but I didn’t want to splurge on expensive ones, so I bought THESE SWEATPANTS from Amazon for a fraction of the price and really love them. They are perfect for early morning carpooling and dog walking especially with MY TANK (another Amazon dupe) and MY FAVORITE SPORTS BRA.
And because I live in athleticwear…

…I have shared THESE TOPS so many times, but they’re my absolute favorite for long sleeve athleticwear.
They come in TWENTY different colors and work so well alone or layered when the weather is colder.

I haven’t found a long sleeve one that tops it which is why it’s been a favorite of mine for years.
Speaking of tried and true favorites, yesterday, I wore…

…my FAVORITE LEGGINGS with a matching FLEECE. Both come in a variety of colors, but you know how much I LOVE green!! This “pine” shade is my fave.
Speaking of yesterday, here is a bonus little fave…
You know how much I love Peloton (I have multiple posts on the topic!), but I stopped using my actual bike consistently about 18ish months ago. Andrew still uses the bike at least once a week, but I stopped because I was tired of spending 30 minutes listening to the instructors and their music. I was just over it. I’d much rather spend my cardio minutes listening to my favorite sports radio station in Dallas or a podcast. I was still using my Hydrow (because that is just peaceful and scenic), but I really did not enjoying hopping on my bike.
Fast forward to about a month ago and Peter Attia (of course) was talking about the importance of getting one’s VO2 max up and how the bike is just one of the best ways to do it. I decided the next morning to hop on my Peloton, pop my AirPods in and mute the Peloton instructor/music. I could follow all of the metrics at the bottom of my screen and listen to something I preferred while still getting an amazing workout.
You guys, this was a game changer for me! I’ve now happily hopped on weekly for about a month, but I listen to what I want to hear which makes the ride fly by.
Just a little bonus fave/tip should you be in the same boat…er…bike as me.

Andrew and I try to “touch” Nantucket each month either together or individually, and thus…

…he spent a few days there this week. I had originally planned on going as well, but my schedule changed, and life became easier for me to stay behind. He went to check on a few things at our house (new washer and dryer installed, yay!), locate and fix a leak (boo), clean the saltwater and sand off the cars, etc. While I was sad not to go too, I was really excited about what he was going to do on island this week…

…he and his new and improved spine played some golf with friends.
He also…

…went scalloping with friends on the opening day. He has been counting down to this event for a year. He was SO pumped to scallop.

Our amazing friend Rick was one of the guys who went too. They called me after to tell me about it and both sounded like kids at Christmas. They both “beat” their other friends and collected…

…a whopping 95 scallops and 12 clams!
And needless to say…

…it was a feast at my house this week!

I am so excited for my next time to go bACK! In the meantime though, I love that Andrew had a fun three days. We missed him, and it was great to see him yesterday afternoon, but I always love when either of us gets to head back to Nantucket.

Every month, I love looking at the TOP 10 FAVORITE BLOG POSTS of the previous month. It is always such a random/fun assortment.
September was extra fun because two of the posts went a little viral which pushed them “higher” up than the norm. I love a new variety in the top two 🙂 .
Take a look…
#10: Ironically, #10 was my post on 10 RANDOM THINGS.
#9: A list of THINGS ANDREW AND I DON’T AGREE ON.
#8: Kensington’s SEVENTEENTH BIRTHDAY!
#7: My list of 25 LITTLE LUXURIES.
#6: Our WEEKEND RECAP {LUBBOCK EDITION}
#5: The post where I shared my thoughts on MANAGING TEENAGE LIFE.
#4: My look at FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS in Texas!
#3: A little look into our life lately with a THURSDAY THINGS post.
#2: My great grandmother’s EASY APPLE COBBLER came in STRONG at #2!
#1: And your favorite blog post of the month was my TRADER JOE’S SEPTEMBER HAUL!
This Top 10 is EXACTLY why I love this space so much. It’s a little food, a little family, a little holiday, and a little regular life all in one happy place 🙂 .

I had a few reasons to actually put on real clothes this week. Woohoo!
On Tuesday…

…I wore one of my BELOVED GAUZE TOPS to the high school for varsity jacket fittings and then straight to the middle school football game. I did not wear my slippers 😉 .
On Wednesday, my mom came to McKinney and the two of us went to my friends’ pop up shop. It was such a special time with my mama, my neighbors and some sweet friends.

I wore THIS TOP with MY JEANS and MULES.
And then yesterday…

…I met my sweet friend (and Smith’s violin teacher) in downtown McKinney and wore THIS TOP with MY AMAZON JEANS and those MULES again.

I thought my RUFFLE MOCK NECK SWEATER had cute details!

And finally…

…if you haven’t made my CANDY CORN BUNDT CAKE yet, this is your year!
Friends, this recipe is crazy easy and so very delicious! Make it! It’s festive, it’s yummy…it’s just what your October needs.
Okay, I am finishing up this post and signing off at 2:56 PM on Thursday, October 2nd. Either by the time you read this, the Red Sox beat the Yankees out of the Wild Card, and I am IN THE BEST MOOD EVER…or the Yankees won and I’m not speaking to Andrew. Here’s hoping it’s option #1!
See you tomorrow! xx

I’m from Canada and a Blue Jays fan…and confirm you must not be speaking with Andrew today 🙁
Sheaffer says
Love those traditional sweatpants and that fleece! I also LOVE scallops and clams!
Kelly Sites says
I do the exact same thing with my Peloton. I NEVER LISTEN to a class. I often put my lap top on the bars and watch You Tube videos or something fun, listen to a podcast or play list. I LOVE IT so much. I’ll often stay on for an hour because I’m watching something so great. During the Tour de France, I watched HOURS of each day’s race while biking on my Peloton. LOVE the pine green color of the leggings. Green and burgundy are my favorite fall colors this year for clothing.
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s a great idea too!!! Thank YOU!!
Karleigh Johnson says
I don’t ever do this so I don’t know the specifics — but my husband will do “scenic” rides on the Peloton. It’s a virtual background and you can listen to whatever you want to listen to, but it still tracks your ride.
Have a great weekend Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t done that? How do you find that out of the options? There must be an easy spot. I need to go find it.
Sarah says
It’s under the experiences tab!
Kristen says
Boo to yankees!
How often are you doing the Pelaton bike, once a week or more?
Mix and Match Mama says
Right now, once or twice. This week, I did it Monday and Thursday mornings.
Beth Knecht says
Shay, we have been watching lots of baseball lately and we’re were cheering for the Guardians but boo they lost! I couldn’t help but think of your and Andrew’s rivalry when we were watching the Red Sox and Yankees. I hope Andrew treats you well today!
Paula Hobbs says
I love the outfit you wore to meet your mom!! Have a great weekend!

Well, I guess you’re not speaking to Andrew today…..??? LOL! Those darn Yankees! Ugh Have a great weekend Shay!

What size do you were in the Athleta long sleeve?
Mix and Match Mama says
I think they run TTs. I buy xs.

Your scallop picture on your kitchen counter beautifully encapsulates the Nantucket feel! Cheers to Friday, Shay!
Jennifer says
I thought of you last night. We were rooting for the Red Sox, too. 😞 I hope all is well in your house today 😊
Faith Kapp says
How did Andrew get the scallops to TX? Fun fact – I was born and raised on a North Carolina island (Harkers Island) and we would walk across the street from my house to the sound and catch scallops and clams. Scallops were my favorite – still are one of my favorite seafood to eat. This post brought back a lot of memories!
Mix and Match Mama says
He didn’t, they made them for dinner at our house on Nantucket. He and his buddies enjoyed them that night.
Faith Kapp says
Ohhhh that makes better sense. 😆🤦🏼♀️ I thought you were referring to your house in TX. It’s Friday!
Stacie Johnson says
Amazon sweats….TTS?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!
Michelle says
Schlittler was unhittable last night, sorry Shay.
Can we count on you now to cheer for the Jays?
Go Blue Jays!

Sonya Derczo says
Ordering those sweatpants now! How cool to hunt your own scallops! Scallops are my hubby’s favorite! Love seeing Nantucket through all the seasons through y’all.
Ryane M. says
Um, did Andrew see any ‘5 star weekend’ filming?! I think you need to get bACK asap!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
He did!! He even went inside the grocery store at one point and a big portion was sectioned off for filming.
Bren says
I wondered about this (the movie being filmed) also! Very fun!
Those scallops look AMAZING! Can’t even imagine how good they are fresh. Hope you can head back that way soon, Shay. And that ruffle mock neck sweater looks amazing on you!
Erika Slaughter says
I LOVE scallops but I think I’d have a hard time seeing them go from ocean straight to my plate. For some reason when someone else prepares them for me, it feels like they get them much cleaner. ha!
Holly says
Guess it’s quiet at your house…😉
Mix and Match Mama says
Annoyingly…
Laura Cromley says
Oh Shay, I’m so excited to win! Thank you so much for blessing me with this Colleen Rothschild Gift Card. I have looked for your email, but don’t see it. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks again for this nice surprise! 💗

Just bought the pumpkin slippers for my daughter in college. So cute 🥰 Thanks!
