I’ve mentioned this before, but McKinney is famous for the hot air balloons that fly over quite frequently. Some days, you even see multiple in the sky at once.
Last week, I set out to walk the dog and saw this one…
…right at the end of my street. I have probably seen hundreds of hot air balloons in the 20 years I’ve lived in McKinney, and they bring me joy EVERY SINGLE TIME! Would you ever go up in one? I would not, but I certainly love to see them!

Every morning, I go out and water whatever plants I happen to have on my balcony. Over the years, I have purchased the world’s least expensive watering tins because…it’s just a watering tin. I’ll buy a plastic one that is super cheap, use it a bit and then when it starts to leak all over the place and/or break, I’ll replace it. And repeat. I have always wanted a Haw’s watering tin from England and finally, in August, after replacing my crappy one for the millionth time, I ordered one…
They’re pretty hard to find (they’re always out of stock), but I found one on Williams-Sonoma’s site. It took six weeks to arrive, but it came this week, and I am so in love!
I bought the “Haws Green” color because if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it right. You just have no idea how happy one watering tin has made me each day. If you are an outside person like me and use a watering tin each day, look up Haws. They’re really quite special.
I have been watching A LOT of tumbling…
…Mades has been working on her own tumbling skills and the two of us have spent a lot of time together in the gym. She started taking tumbling lessons in March and even took them each week on Nantucket too.
She’s been living her life upside down 😉 .
On Sunday, all of her worlds collided and after church, she had back to back lessons. She worked so hard and when she got home, she asked if she could reward herself by…
…jumping in the pool to cool down with her clothes on. Who am I to deny such fun? 😉
Because of course I found a PUMPKIN CLAW CLIP.
No one is surprised by that.

I have a Simplex Kensington tea kettle ( you surely need one for the name alone). I have had it almost 25 years. I bought my daughter one as a housewarming. She loves hers, too! Some things are expensive, but bring joy each day and are made to last, like your watering can.

We ordered a copper Buckingham model from England after our kitchen remodel. I rarely use it, because coffee 😂, but it makes my heart so happy just looking at it. And my daughter said it can become an heirloom 🩷

Shay we live where there is a lot of hot air balloons as well. I envy the sights theysee, especially in the fall…but don’t think it’s for me. We also have the paragliders that come by when conditions are right. One night we had about 4-5 fly over. We were out waving to them and one came down really close…that was about 5 or so yrs ago and we still talk about it!!

I definitely want to do a hot air balloon. One of my daughters besties did a tandem parachute jump for her 30th birthday with a bunch of her friends – I ran into her before hand commented I’d always wanted to also and ended up jumping at closer to 60 with a bunch of kids. Was it scary? But I’m glad I did it. My daughter was not happy with me. If I do a hot air balloon ride someday I will definitely tell her about it after not before.
I hope you have a great weekend – I’ve been outside watching my granddaughter on her trampoline instead of cleaning my house. Just so you know these years go fast too

I have had a hot air balloon ride on my bucket list for yearsssss and I finally did it last summer. We were in Tuscany and it was as magical as you’d imagine! I will say- I have been skydiving (I LOVED IT!) and the ballooning was far more scary to me for some reason haha. Anyhow, highly recommend!
Also- while in Italy, it made such an impression on me that I am moving there in March😍

Shay, for a milestone birthday my husband gifted me a hot air balloon ride. I was scared to death. The ride was very peaceful though. I took amazing pictures. The landing was terrifying. So glad I did it, but that was a “one & done” for me.
We used to see hot air balloons in the air where we live, but in the past 10 -ish years we have not seen them around. Some of the balloons were very low and we could talk to the people in the basket.

I found a large, vintage Haws green watering can at the antique store this summer for an amazing price and snapped it up so fast! The brass rose at the end is probably my favorite part!

Fun fact – my Dad was a corporate pilot for a local construction company in my hometown. When the city decided that the town should have its own hot air balloon my dad was chosen to be the first pilot of said balloon. Over the years he flew hundreds of hours and trained many pilots along the way. My husband and I actually met, 36 years ago, because of that balloon. My dad was hosting a grounds school (chase crew for the balloon), I had taken him dinner and my husband was a student in that class.
One more thing…you really should fly in a hot air balloon. It is nothing short of magical.
