Hey, hey, hey! I have a little Easter weekend recap for your Wednesday 😉 . But first…
I CORRECTED YESTERDAY’S HOME TOUR!
Agh! I’m so, so, so sorry it stopped working, but I have the video up and running now, so those of you who wanted to see the TUESDAY TOUR of our BEVERAGE AREA ON NANTUCKET, it’s up now.
Okay, since our offices were closed on Good Friday and the kiddos were out of school, our weekend actually began…
…on Thursday night!
All six Shulls headed to our town square to enjoy the GORGEOUS weather and dinner.
The next morning…
…the two of us were up early grocery shopping for our little Easter party on Saturday night.
Speaking of Saturday…
…we kicked off our day with Ashby’s soccer game! This girl goes back and forth with wearing her contacts versus not wearing them. We’re in a “wearing them” phase right now.
On Saturday evening, we hosted a little Easter dinner in our backyard for family…
…I tell my mom this every year, but she really should go into business creating Easter baskets. Her baskets are EPIC!
I know I say this every year, but for some weird reason, the tradition in our family is for the grandparents to make the baskets, so that’s what we’ve always done and why I don’t do it for my kids.
Mades was super excited about her goodies!
Isaiah Lowe is one of my favorite humans of all time. That kid is PRECIOUS! I love all three of those kiddos, but I mean, come on…he’s wearing goggles and a snorkel in his Easter photo. Bahahaha!
M&M
This girlie is just so sweet!
See the eggs? Next up, it was time for the annual egg hunt!
Lots of eggs, lots of kids.
I went to bed that night just so pleased with our evening. We had just the sweetest night celebrating Easter as a family.
For those that are curious, this was our menu:
Andrew grilled burgers and sausages and then I made…
A Caprese Salad
Mama’s Corn Salad
The BEST Baked Beans
And then my mom brought delicious deviled eggs and a birthday cake (so we could celebrate Andrew and my Aunt Pam).
It was all so yummy!
On Easter Sunday, we got up extra early so that we could attend…
…our church’s 8:00 AM service before volunteering in the next two services.
The flowers were GOREGOUS!!
From beginning to end, it was a FABULOUS Easter service!!
After worship, we headed out into the atrium where we all had volunteer jobs. After two full hours of serving, we were tired and hungry and thus enjoyed a delicious Easter lunch at Eddie V.’s in Plano before heading home and putting on our comfy clothes.
And that was our Easter weekend! xx

I love that your mom does the Easter baskets! Some day down the long road, I hope that I do that with my grandchildren. I attempted with my own kids but over the year just let that slip. Hopefully I’ll have some extra time to put in that effort when I have grandchildren! Such a great tradition.
Erika Slaughter says
The flowers at church were STUNNING! I agree! Your crew looked amazing on Sunday!
Michelle Nobbe says
Love this post! First of all why does Ashby look so grown up in that picture with you? Also, your mom really needs to go in business making Easter baskets. I would use her services.
Traci M says

Erica Gammon says
Looks like a wonderful Easter weekened! Love the baskets!!
Can you share a link to Madelys dress?
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness, that’s an oldie but goodie from Old Navy. She loves that dress 🙂 .
Elisabeth Hogue says
It’s always fun to celebrate our Savior with family!
Could you source your outdoor dining table, please? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Restoration Hardware!
Elisabeth Hogue says
Thank you!
Elizabeth says
Could you show the Easter basket contents? Would love to see them.
Mix and Match Mama says
Every one was so different but they all included a pair of sandals of some sort, candy, a book and then things personal to each kiddo. I don’t have any pics of exactly what was in each one as it was kind of madness as they opened them.

Love this!!! I don’t have many Easter traditions, but it makes me want to have them!! We rode bikes this year after church, and that may become a thing. 🙂

Hi Shay, I know this was a minor detail in your post but you mentioned Ashby having contacts. Do you have any tricks to help her put in the contacts and take them out independently? My son wants them, especially for sports, but isn’t doing well with the process. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Practice! She first got contacts in 2020, and it really just took a lot of practice. In the beginning, I would put them in/take them out, but then, we realized it was easier for her to do it.
Deena says
I used to be a contact lens tech and taught people to insert/remove them. This is a good teaching video and you can also ask your Optometrist office if he can have another teach if needed. https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=contact%20lens%20teach%20video&tbm=&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5#kpvalbx=_xRkOZtuqK82dkPIPtv2CgAI_33
Nicole says
Both my mom and MIL make Easter baskets for the kids so I don’t do anything! It’s great! 😂
Mix and Match Mama says
Isn’t it so nice?!
Kay says
What a fun post Shay! Love to see your beautiful family – how blessed you are! Can you link the blue/white striped striped shirt you’re wearing with Ashby? Have a great Wednesday!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! It comes in a lot of other colors too. It’s here: https://www.sezane.com/us/product/tomboy-shirt/stripes-ecru-blue#size-0
Kate says
Hey! I’d love a post about what your mom puts in the baskets! Thanks for sharing your family with us ❤️
Diane says
What a blessed Easter weekend……I just want to give your grandmother a big hug (sent from Waco)!
LouLou says
I love your Aunt Pam. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met.
Mix and Match Mama says
I couldn’t agree more 🙂 .
Cris says
Maybe next year your Mom would let you take pictures as she’s putting together the Easter baskets. It would be so fun to see how a “pro” does it! What a blessing she is to you!
Candice says
I so think that you should have your mom do a blog post for one of the days of how she puts them together and what she does, and what kind of items go in it. That would be fun to see, so I can do for my kids or grandkids some day (hopefully the later is way down the road though LOL)
Patty Anderson says
What a perfect Resurrection Sunday! Churches in our area of the country are having trouble getting worship leaders/singers for some reason, so music is always hit or miss for us. Your worship almost looked like a Hillsong stage! You probably already did this, but would you please link to your online service so I can pull it up? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course! You can find it here: https://cottonwoodcreek.tv
Laci L Murray says
I love a good Easter weekend!
Karen in Virginia says
Hi Shay, were the flowers at the Easter service real? And were they roses? They are absolutely stunning!
Mix and Match Mama says
They were real! I asked someone about them while we were volunteering and they said it was a mom and daughter who are just starting out a floral business for weddings. Um, yes! They did a fabulous job!!! They should have a wedding business, right?!
Joi says
Love this post! I like the idea of doing an Easter dinner the night before with extended family. But, Please do a post on how to get your family out the door and to church on time . We struggle every Sunday with being on time for church. I need tips and trucks because my teens and littler kids make Sunday mornings chaotic!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh, I’ve mentioned this before, but I can get my family out the door for an early flight, a surgery, school…but every dang Sunday morning is like a fire drill at my house. I do not know why they all move so slow on Sundays?! It’s not like we don’t do this every single week either. It’s maddening to me!
Linda says
Hahahaha….because Sundays are suppose to be slow. Haha
Jo says
So, have you guys ever done the Easter bunny? Or, just outgrown? Love the idea of grandparents doing baskets! I always struggle with the “easter bunny” and tying it in any way to the meaning to Easter!
Mix and Match Mama says
We have never done the Easter bunny. I don’t know exactly why, we just never did it over here. We have done Santa, so it’s not a Biblical reason…we just have never done it.
