On Tuesday morning, our sweet Ashby turned EIGHT!!
This year, we decided to make it a driveway donut birthday party. From 9 to 10, friends and family could stop by, grab breakfast to go for their whole crew and either get out and say hi or stay in their car. I honestly thought it worked out so well!! Many friends drove by, waived and said hi (grabbing their to-go breakfast) while others got out to say hello and eat a quick bite on the driveway. Ashby said it was her favorite birthday!
Here’s a little recap of our morning…
We had gifts ready for our birthday girl when she came downstairs! This inflatable palm tree can be connected to the water hose for outdoor fun!
Another FANTASTIC birthday sign by my friend Amy!! How cute is this?!
Awwww! Bedhead and a birthday sign!! Since the party was out front, we were trying to jazz things up…also, we currently have a porta potty and dumpster in our yard, so this helped 😉 .
Our big 8 year old dressed and ready for gifts!
This one here was her very favorite…
…Snoopy Sno-cone Machine! Um, hello 1989!! Who else had one of these growing up?! I did, I did!! All four kids were excited about this gift!
We were now ready to head out and wait for friends and family!
The afternoon before, we pre-packaged donuts for people to take with them.
We had donuts to go, donuts to enjoy if you stayed, chocolate milk, party hats and then I made a savory breakfast and had coffee in the kitchen for adults too.
It was pretty windy, so I lost several of my fun balloons (so sad!), but we were outside and READY!
Love these girls so much!!
In one short hour, we had so many friends and family come by to celebrate!
There were flamingos on his shirt…and I was totally diggin’ it!
My dad took this pic. She was a great helper!!!
Ashby has the sweetest friends!
Our adorable friend Kate came to help Kensington too that I could say hi and help pass out breakfast bags to people in their cars.
Some kids were in pajamas, most were barefoot, it was just so CASUAL AND FUN!
I love me some Aunt Catherine!
And Mark too 🙂 .
The best friends!
The Slaughters arrival included some sort of chalk gun thing going off. It was so much fun!
First a silly picture…
…then a sweet one 🙂 .
Rosie was the star of the party 🙂 .
This pic cracks me up. Isaiah kept carrying the palm tree around. Ha!
It was a sweet birthday for a sweet girl.
We donut believe she’s EIGHT!!

Seeing the joy on her face was a great way to start the day. What a happy little girl. <3 Happy B-day to Ashby! xoxo
Jaime Matherson says
this was such a cute idea! what was her birthday party original plan? Did she elt east have a theme in her head before quarantine started ?
Mix and Match Mama says
We didn’t have any plans prior to this idea. When she started talking about what kind of birthday party she wanted, she said not a swimming party (she’s had several of those), so when I suggested this, she jumped at the idea!
Christine R. says
Happy 8th Birthday to Ashby! I remember when “we” were anxiously awaiting for her gotcha day – and then you posted a pic of her – and I sobbed! Sitting in my kitchen in upstate NY – I was filled with such joy for that precious girl of yours. And now she’s 8! Thank you for allowing us to follow along on with your life – you are a daily light in this crazy world.
Sheaffer Sims says

I love this idea! We are trying to figure out something for my daughter who turns 7 in June, and this would be great! Did you have an invitation? I’d love to see the wording you used. Also, where did you find the donut bags? Thanks so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
The donut bags are from Amazon and I used an evite to invite everyone. I just added a lot of wording about how they could stay in there car and breakfast would be delivered to them or they could hop out and say hi. Stuff like that.

Random question, but have you decided if you will recap your spring break trip to Hawaii? Totally understand waiting a bit with everything that has been going on the last few months. It would be fun to see “happy” pics of what I’m sure was a beautiful place! I have the travel bug right now!
Mix and Match Mama says
We were going to recap it starting last week, but right now, I think we’ll wait and do that plus our big giveaway later this summer.

Late comment! But interested in the details ? trying to plan for a July birthday party-what kind of donuts did you pre package the night before?
Mix and Match Mama says
It was a mix of the powdered, sugar and strawberry little donuts you get at the grocery store. I bought all three and mixed them!
