Happy Thursday, friends!
First and foremost, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the veterans and families of veterans out there reading this right now. I am always thankful for your service, but I want to especially make sure you hear me say it today. On Friday, my sweet grandmother was buried at the DFW National Cemetery which was so important to her and my grandfather, a Marine. Going there on Friday afternoon and seeing all of the tombstones of those who have served our country and/or been immediate family of one who has served was incredibly humbling. It was also humbling to see the dozens and dozens of veteran volunteers at the cemetery making sure each and every family was blessed. Thank you so much to all of you and your service to our country.
This week, I went to Trader Joe’s for my weekly shopping and found a few things I thought you might like to see, but before that, let me remind you of these gems from last November…
…these g-free pie crusts are in the freezer section and come two to a pack. They’re really delicious and easy to use!! You should use one and make…
…my Cranberry & Walnut Pumpkin Pie 🙂 .
If you’re looking to make a breakfast casserole this season and need a good g-free bread…
…there is no better option! You can also buy this bread with gluten and it’s equally as delicious. I buy several loaves and keep them in my freezer. They’re great for…
…my Sausage & Dijon Breakfast Casserole!
Now, on to the new stuff!
I made this on Tuesday night…
…my delicious Pulled Pork Chili. Seriously, this stuff is AMAZING, and I used…
…this apple cider pork loin from Trader Joe’s in it! (Read the recipe for the details!) This pork is a new seasonal item and it was perfection in my chili!! It was honestly super flavorful and really tender. I was so pleased with this find!
Maybe I’ve posted these muffins before but let me just reiterate…they’re a g-free family’s joy!! Even if you can consume gluten, you should try these!! They are moist, they are not grainy (a gf baked goods issue), they are delicious. You would never know that they are sans-gluten.
Always a great find around Thanksgiving! I bought several boxes and will use them all season long in place of chicken stock and/or in turkey based recipes.
Oh the possibilities are endless like…
…my Cranberry Brisket Sliders!
A little bit of this with some crackers and a few nuts…the perfect afternoon snack!
Speaking of nuts, these are great to have for charcuterie boards around the holidays!! We went through two tins last year! They’re great “bar snacks” too!!
YESSSSSSSSSS! So, I am a huge fan of horseradish, but if you’re not, I still think you’ll love these because they aren’t too powerful. The nice guy helping me check out told me I should have bought three bags. He said he ate an entire bag in one sitting. They are seriously delish!!
And you guys, check this out…
…how cute is this?! I bought one for Kensington instead of a traditional candy Advent calendar. I thought it was too cute for words. On the back…
…it tells you exactly what’s inside your box. Isn’t that fun?! I bet these are G-O-N-E before we know it!!

Is there a good gluten free sandwich bread you recommend that is good even without being heated/toasted?

I’m still doing one of those Trader Joe’s frittatas with half an avocado for breakfast and a Trader Joe’s salad with something warm (like some of their meatballs or one quesadilla) heated up.

Thank You for the veterans comment. I always thank the veteran and their family. We have had some military funerals in our family they are a very moving experience…they volunteer to be there for their fallen. My Gpa’s about 16 yrs ago still had quite a few WWIi vets…so moving they were there. When they play taps I am just done along with the passing of the flag. Ugh!!!
I always call my family members today to thank them, even one that is serving now. I tell her some day she will be a vet, but mostly to thank her for her service right now.(i do it all the time…tell her proud of her I am).
They are saying wintry mix/snow for the weekend. We are in Christmas movie challenge Lifetime, Netflix, and Disney+ start their this weekend too.

Hi Shay, Do you cook the apple cider pork loin roast in the crockpot with Dr. Pepper? The pork loin chili looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it!
Mix and Match Mama says
I cooked it all day in that turkey broth!
Nicole says
Looks like some great finds!! Curious, when you freeze your bread, what’s the best way to defrost without it getting stale, etc? Thanks!! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I always do! I try to let the frozen loaf sit out over night to thaw, but if I’m in a hurry, I microwave the slices on a paper towel.
Sarah says
Not Trader Joe’s, but on the topic of gluten-free food, have you tried Heavenly Hunks?? I got them at Costco in Southlake and they are simply amazing! Gluten-free, organic, and vegan. You all would love them!
Mix and Match Mama says
Googling them right now!!
Darcy says
I want to talk my family into your cranberry brisket sliders for Thanksgiving one year instead of turkey! Those look delicious! I think I will make them over the holiday weekend towards convincing them! Thank you always for the fresh ideas, just when I hit a lull!

Oh I saw that Advent calendar this week and was curious! I’d love it if you could give us a breakdown of whether or not Kensington actually liked the items. Trader Joe’s is known for their food, I haven’t heard much about their beauty products 🙂
