You guys, it’s a Madeley Monday 🙂 !
Remember when we added on to our house in 2020/2021? If you’ll recall, we added on MY NEW OFFICE, A NEW BATHROOM, AN UPSTAIRS LAUNDRY STATION, A LARGER FAMILY ROOM , a home gym annnnnnnd Miss Madeley got her own bedroom 🙂 .
Ashby and Madeley have been sharing a bedroom since Mades came home, but we knew that one day, she would probably want a room all to herself, so when we were adding on, we added on a bedroom for our littlest. Our construction project finished up in January 2021, but Miss Madeley was so content in her bedroom with Ashby that she didn’t officially move into her new space until this last May. Yup…she had a room for about 18 months that we left empty. It actually worked out quite well having this empty bedroom. We added a king sized blow up mattress (I’ve raved about this mattress before!) to the space, and it became a second guest bedroom for our visiting family. Andrew’s brother and his family have used it many times, my family all crashed there over the holidays and even a college friend used it. Two guest bedrooms filled with people made me feel like I finally was living my dream of owning a bed and breakfast.
Fast forward to this last May and Mades was ready to have her own space, so we took out the blow up mattress and created a space just for her. When I asked her how she wanted to decorate, her answer was…like Nantucket 🙂 .
So, without further ado, here is Madeley James’ new bedroom…
Come on in!
Since Madeley is our crafty, creative kiddo, we moved the craft table from the playroom in here for her to enjoy.
All of the kids have something special about their room (Kensington’s room is the largest, Smith has the biggest bathroom, Ashby has the biggest closet…and Madeley has the best views 🙂 ).
I will source what I can at the bottom of this post, but how adorable are our prints?! We used Pete once again in Nantucket to add our amazing cotton candy lobster prints and our tuna.
Mades starts volleyball this fall, but she wanted volleyball medals and trophies to decorate her room…so her big sister let her borrow her medals and trophies 😉 .
My crafty kiddo took pipe cleaners and made her lamp shade “more fancy”.
Mades wanted a house for her Calico Critters, so her big sister made her one 😉 .
This girl loves a blanket.
The perfect room for our youngest girlie 🙂 .
I’m sure a few of you would like some sources for the items in her room, so I’ll try my best to include what I can find/remember:
BED
STRIPED QUILT
WHITE BEDDING
DRESSER
MIRROR
BEANBAG CHAIR
RUG
CEILING FAN
LAMP
The walls are painted Sherwin Williams Moderate White.
Now, what about her closet? Even though the girls now officially have their own bedrooms, they still share their closet space on the third floor. Right now, that’s working well, but eventually, I’m sure Mades will move her things down to her room. The closet in her room is a really nice size and currently houses my fall and Christmas decorations from my office 🙂 .
Since the two girls no longer share a bedroom, Ashby has her own “new” room too! More pics on her new space (now that she doesn’t share with her little sister!) in the days ahead.
Don’t forget, if you missed our other recently added/renovated rooms, they’re right here…
That’s it for this Monday!
I’ll see you back here tomorrow! xx
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I absolutely love this!!! I love that it isn’t necessarily “little girl” but exactly what SHE wanted!!! And it’s timeless! 🥰
Erika Slaughter says
Madeley, I LOVE IT! When we move in next week, can I bunk up with Madeley? hahahaha!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just lol!
Elspeth says
So cute!! I love how the space fits her personality!

Amy Heinl says
What a beautiful room. It is so tranquil but yet so full of Miss Madely’s personality. I love that she picked Nantucket as her room theme. It is so precious
Dustie Day says
Do you store all of the crafting supplies in a separate area? Such a beautiful space!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! It’s all in the closet in our playroom.
Beth Knecht says
So cute and Nantuckety!
Josie says
Does she have her own bathroom too? Do all your kids have their own bathroom?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes and no…she has her own bathroom (the new upstairs bathroom), but she and Ashby still like to use Ashby’s bathroom for 99% of things. All of my kids do have their own bathrooms.
Laura says
Looks amazing! She’s one lucky girl. What are your plans for the playroom since the living is right outside of it?
Thanks for sharing.
Mix and Match Mama says
Last year, it was our podcast studio, but we took that down to move the craft table into Mades’ room, so right now, there is a ping pong table in there. Ha!
Jaime says
I love how sweet her room looks! Does Ashby still have the bunk bed? also random question but does smith still have an orange wall in his room?
Mix and Match Mama says
Smith does still have an orange wall and Ashby no longer has bunk beds 🙂 .
Julie says
Ohhh, so cute! I LOVE the size of this room. It is such a cozy, friendly space and it doesn’t feel overwhelming for her first room alone! Hope she loves it. And her lamp is fabulous!
Amanda says
Wow!!! I love it!! Every detail is so perfect. I wish I could do that.
Sheaffer says
Wow! It looks great! THAT VIEW!!!!! And the bed looks so cozy!
K.K. says
100% want to move in! So adorable. I love the decor, and your doorknob choice is really pretty too!
Shannon says
Is Made’s bed a twin and her bedding full size? Love it!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a full!
Shannon says
As a rule of thumb, do you go up a size when buying bedding? I am about to buy two twin beds for a guest room and I’m on the fence on whether to buy twin or full bedding! I want the look of this bed!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not, but I do know that my mom (an interior designer) has done that many times!
Shani says
So, so darling!!! Where is the craft table from? I would love something a little larger than our little Pottery Barb table!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from Pottery Barn Kids but several years old (maybe 8 years old?!).
Dena Randall says
Is that a doggy door in the armoir going into Madely’s room? Brilliant!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just went back to see if I saw what you saw…but we dont have a doggy door, so I don’t exactly know what you see??
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I think she’s talking about what might be a drink fridge
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhh…maybe?! Details and photos of that space are linked at the bottom of this post on the updated family room post!
Cristin says
I was looking at the “weird door”, too. Is it a wine fridge but super low?
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s a mini fridge for water and drinks!
Susan says
My favorite part is the “fancy” lampshade! 🙂
Debbie says
Love it!
Kelly says
Surprising that Madeley picked something so tranquil given her big personality, lol, but I’m sure she loves it!
When did Kensington go back to having her own room vs. all 3 girls sharing? And which room was originally to be Madeley’s room before they all started sharing?
Mix and Match Mama says
Big personality but not a very pink/girly/over the top kind of personality. (She’s not really sporty though either…that’s more Ashby…) Kensington has always had her own room, she just slept in her sisters’ room for years (still does occasionally!). When we made over her room last year, she took to sleeping there most of the time, but she’s always been our kiddo that sleeps in all the odd places. Originally, Mades was going to share with Ashby or maybe we would have turned the guest room into her room…we had options.
Diane says
Nothing better than all the feels of Nantucket ⚓️! I could definitely see you owning a B&B there—I’ll be your first guest! Hugs from Waco and prayers of thanksgiving for the much needed rain ☔️.
Dawn says
What a pretty room! And her lamp does look way more fancy now! Ooooo and Calico Critters with their own house…. really pretty ideas, Madely!
June Pope says
Shay! I love her room. She must be so proud. I was thinking that, if you need an idea for another post, I’d love to see your house from the outside. It seems you added on a lot of
of space to your house and I’d love to see it from the yard. Like where the older part of the home was and where the addition starts. I’m curious how you added so much square footage. Or maybe I’m just nosy! ☺️
Jennifer Stoops says
So So cute! You should really go into the decorating business!!! Will you come help me with my house please? Ha Ha Ha! Love all of your house and decorating style!
Michelle says
Ohhhh I love her windows! Such a beautiful bedroom! I love the theme you picked out, Mades!!!
Carol says
Great job! What a lucky girl.
I thought they took turns sleeping with Smith…not so much now?
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Smit kicked them out a while back. That dude likes his sleep!
Kristine says
I guess I’m going to be odd man out but it looks exactly like a hotel room I’ve stayed in on Nantucket. Believe me I love Nantucket but this room screams guest room and not a child’s room. Sorry but I’m just really surprised this is Mades room based on the personality portrayed on your blog
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, it’s exactly what she picked out (and even shopped in Nantucket herself for the signs/art/pillow cases for the items hung in there). No need to apologize. I’m sure there are lots of facets of my kiddos you don’t know everything about. Once you see Ashby’s room, you’ll get that she went the opposite direction of her big sister 😉 .
Kristine says
Very interesting! Kids, they always keep us guessing. Looking forward to Ashbys reveal
Mary says
Cutest “hotel room / guest room” I’ve ever seen. 😉 It’s adorable and I am glad you shared it but mostly I’m glad she loves it.
Desiree | Beautifully Seaside says
Her room is so cute! I love all the Nantucket styles you incorporated! Well done! XO
kristine says
Weird…I posted a comment and you replied and now its gone. I can not figure out where it went?
Anyway I just wanted to reply…. that kids do keep us guessing and I am looking forward to Ashby’s room reveal
Mix and Match Mama says
Maybe it didn’t go through? I see several published from you, so maybe that one didn’t submit?
Candice says
Such a beautiful room!! We just got back from Nantucket last night and it was the perfect weekend! Thanks so much for your suggestions! We stopped by Pete’s right before we left on the ferry – such a cute little shop. P.S. – you weren’t kidding about those long lines at the juice bar! There was even a crossing guard directing traffic for the line haha! Definitely worth the wait though!!
Stacie says
Her room looks fantastic!! I love all of the Nantucket-ness!
polly pover says
So cute! I love that this is a room she can “grow up” in. Classy and not “little girl like”!! Thanks for sharing!!
Celia says
Madeley’s lampshade though! So cute!!
Kacey says
Not only is Mades my spirit animal, but she could absolutely design my bedroom too! Love love love. Currently in ACK and soaking up every minute.
Kim N. says
It’s beautiful! I had forgotten you added on a room for Madeley in the reno. My favorite parts are the lamp shade and her big sisters’ contributions – so sweet. But – where are you and Erika going to podcast from, now? Isn’t that the podcasting table?
Mix and Match Mama says
We were literally just (like 10 minutes ago!) working on it! We’re hopeful that we can do it from the couch this time around 😉 .
Amie P. says
I mean wow did she ever get the best view! Love all of the windows so much,
Sarah says
Guest bath question – did you change out the travertine when you did the marble entry? Looking for new tile ideas for guest bath! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I did! We put solid white marble (not the black) in there.
Sara says
Oh my, I love her room so much! So peaceful! Just curious, is she still close by to her other siblings or is she further away now?! 💙🤍
Mix and Match Mama says
She is right there by Smith and Ashby…but her favorite part? She’s right next to mama’s office 😉 .
Natalie says
That’s precious!
Emily Wakefield says
I just LOVE this! I love how much you encourage each child in being themselves.
So many things you do as a mom and little things about your family are ‘things’ that I literally take note of for my future children and family.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness, you are too sweet. Thank you for saying that.
Bekki says
I love the prints… do you have a link to them or something similar…I may be using this idea for a bathroom!! Love it
Mix and Match Mama says
Pete in Nantucket creates them. I have him linked in the post. He does everything from catching the fish to hand stamping each piece. They’re so fun!
Karen says
I love her windows and view! Her room came together perfectly! And the touches of blue are so pretty!
