Happy Tuesday, friends!
It’s time for another edition of TOP FIVE, BOTTOM FIVE.
Last October, I shared our TOP FIVE, BOTTOM FIVE: HALLOWEEN CANDY, and what’s the opposite of store-bought candy? STORE-BOUGHT COOKIES!
You know the drill, I’ll name my TOP FIVE favorite store-bought cookies…and then my BOTTOM FIVE.
After Andrew and I made our lists, we had a spirited conversation about who was right and who had terrible taste in cookies. I assume this will continue in the comment section today as well 😉 .
Here we go…
TOP FIVE, BOTTOM FIVE: STORE-BOUGHT COOKIES
#5: GOLDEN OREOS
I’m not opposed to a chocolate one, but I much prefer a “golden”. I think this is a very underrated cookie, and I just wish they would switch up its filling like they do the traditional chocolate ones (with fillings like birthday cake, pumpkin, peppermint, etc). I love these! Come on, Nabisco, let’s make these with seasonal centers too!
#4: NUTTER BUTTER
Maybe I’m partial to these because growing up in the ’90s, my mom considered this basically like eating a healthy peanut butter sandwich. Hungry? Have a Nutter Butter for the “protein”. Bahahaha! So sad, so very true. I love everything about this cookie. I love that it’s peanut butter. I love the crunchy cookie. I love the creamy middle. I love these cold. I love these room temp. I love these.
#3: WALKERS SHORTBREAD
These are oh so simple, and that’s what I love about them. They’re not too sweet, they’re not too crunchy, they’re just perfect for a little “something” with your afternoon coffee. The simplicity speaks to me. (So does the butter in them!)
#2: E.L. FUDGE
I’m not sure how those elves make these in that tree of theirs, but I LOVE THESE. I find them the FAR SUPERIOR sandwich cookie (sorry Oreo). That being said, I do not love the chocolate cookie version with the white frosting filling. Nope. I need a traditional butter cookie with fudge filling. These are amazing, and I could eat the whole bag of little Ernies in one sitting (I won’t, but I could).
But my favorite store-bought cookie is…
#1: VANILLA, STRAWBERRY & CHOCOLATE WAFERS
I couldn’t find a photo of the packages that come with all three flavors, but you know what I’m talking about, right? I love these cookies! I don’t typically snack on cookies and would much prefer a savory/salty snack, but these are so flippin’ fabulous that I don’t even buy them because I would have them all eaten by the end of the day. I love all three flavors but strawberry is my very favorite which is weird because I don’t particularly like strawberry flavored things. I LOVE THESE!
So, those are my TOP FIVE, but what about my…
#5: FIG NEWTONS
I mean, does this one even require an explanation? Who thought it was a good idea to take an unpopular fruit, mash it up and then put it into a dry cookie?
#4: FUDGE STRIPES
I just do not get it (I’m talking to you, Andrew Shull). The actual cookie isn’t that great, the fudge is rock hard, and it lacks any sort of amazing flavor. I don’t understand their appeal. I find these extremely over-rated.
#3: NILLA WAFERS
Well, I’m not four years old in Sunday school, so I don’t want to eat one of these. Other than in my pudding, I’m not interested in these baby teething crackers.
#2: CHIPS AHOY
I want to meet the marketing people behind this cookie because it’s literally the second worst chocolate chip cookie ever made and yet, it’s probably the most popular. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. Chocolate chip cookies are delicious, but this is just a rock hard crumbly mess that doesn’t even taste good. I don’t want your “chewy” version either. I think they’re both bad.
If this is the second worst chocolate chip cookie in my opinion, then what’s the worst?
I give you…
#1: FAMOUS AMOS BITE SIZED COOKIES
Well, I’ve never actually eaten cardboard, but I have tried one of these. Just terrible.
Annnnnnd…
It wouldn’t be a TOP FIVE, BOTTOM FIVE without Andrew weighing in too.
ANDREW’S TOP FIVE:
5: FUDGE STRIPES
4: LITTLE DEBBIE’S OATMEAL CREAM PIES
3: OREOS
2: EL FUDGE
1: MY BIG FAT COOKIE (you can find them HERE!)
Now, I tried disqualifying a few of his picks (I think we could do an entire post on Little Debbie), but he insisted this was his TOP FIVE and that I couldn’t argue with it. We buy the My BIG FAT COOKIES on Nantucket, but when I pointed out that it didn’t count, he sent me the link so that all of you could buy them too. Sigh. They really are SO DELICIOUS!
Okay, now for his…
ANDREW’S BOTTOM FIVE:
5: TATE’S COOKIES
4: FROSTED ANIMAL CIRCUS COOKIES
3: ANY LEMON COOKIES
2: ANYTHING WITH SHREDDED PAPER INSIDE A.K.A. COCONUT
1: ANY DRY, HARD COOKIE (BECAUSE WHO WANTS THAT?!)
Whew!
That was a lot of cookie talk! Okay, I clearly think Halloween + Oreos = a great recipe because should that cookie be in your TOP FIVE, I have two festive recipes for you to try this season…
First up, my OREO HALLOWEEN BARS or…
…these yummy OREO PUMPKINS!

Becky Clark says
Fudge strips cookies are awesome. Pro tip use those in place of Graham crackers for your s’mores…
Laura says
I tried that, I was not a fan. The original graham cracker and chocolate bar is the best.
Savannah Chaviers says
I came here to say this and especially if you use a Reese cup instead of a plan Hershey
Emi says
I’m down with Andrew’s top five and literally lol’d at his shredded paper comment (even though I love coconut)! 😊
Addy J Robinson says
These are funny!! I’m going to order some My Big Fat Cookies!! Store-bought cookies are such a miss for me. We always say, don’t eat the ‘bad’ food if it’s not really good and they’re just really not good!! My husband bought a bag of Pepperidge Farm cookies, in the soft white bags, and I took a bite and was like “why?!!” 🤣🤣
Addy J Robinson says
Oh but try these 🤣 they’re similar to a Golden Oreo but better.
Grandma’s Mini Cookies, Vanilla Sandwich Crème Cookies, 3.71 oz Cookie Bag, (24 Pack) (Packaging May Vary) https://a.co/d/d6hyHXl
Elspeth says
These posts are quickly becoming a favorite of mine! I love most name brand cookies like Oreo or animal crackers, but can’t stand the knock offs, they just taste fake. Also not a fan of any little Debbie’s, too processed.
http://www.elspethsdaybyday.com
Jess says
But fudge stripes are soooo good!!! I’m surprised that nothing Pepperidge farm made it on the list with Milanos, Nantucket, and the macadamia nut ones, we can’t keep them in the house. Also a huge fan of piroulines! Yum! Such a fun post!!!
Grace says
My favorite is the Siete Mexican cookies. I got them on sale once at Publix and finished the whole bag within 2 days. Delicious! I looked up the Big Fat Cookie and they look pretty amazing:).
Amy Heinl says
I love top and bottom 5 days. Here are my top 5
1. Chips ahoy
2. Little Debbie Strawberry Chocolate Swiss Roll
3. Girl Scout Thin Mints
4. Double Stuff Oreos
5. El Fudge
Bottom 5
1. Anything Coconut
2. Regular animal cookies (frosted are ok)
3. Kebler Fudge Stripe
4. Nilla Wafers
5. Nutter Butter
Have a great day
Mix and Match Mama says
I should have added Thin Mints to my list too!
Mandie says
Why are the wafers so good? Because honestly if you think about the wafers are a little bit like cardboard….and yet, it works for me in these!
Mix and Match Mama says
RIGHT?! I feel so seen.
Sheaffer says
You like a strawberry wafer cookie? How very great grandma of you! Haha!
Mix and Match Mama says
I know?!?! Bahaha! Please buy some for me 😉 .
Ann says
Have you tried the Gluten free Golden Oreos? They are really good as well!
Kelly M Sites says
I love a Fig Newton. Agree on the choc. chip cookies. They are NOT GOOD. I’d never ever waste a calorie on eating that. TOTALLY agree on the wafer cookies. All of them. My grandma always had all the flavors in her cookie jar. Who can stop at just one? I’m a sucker for anything mint- so I love a Thin Mint (Girl Scout cookie) or the Oreo mint. YUM. Agree on the vanilla wafers. WHAT IN THE WORLD even is that cookie? Gross. I love a Little Debbie. I never buy them, or I’d eat the whole package in a few days. I’m an all or nothing gal. If I don’t have them in the house-totally fine. If I do- ZERO SELF CONTROL. My husband loves the Nutter Butters and Little Debbie peanut butter wafers. I hope there are lots of cookies in heaven, because I’m sure calories and sugar and crap foods won’t matter and we can eat all we want. 🙂
Kourtney Sluder says
This whole post made me giggle 😂
Kay says
Oooh I love these posts! To be honest, I don’t really like any store bought cookies. And it made me SO happy to see you dislike Oreos and Chips Ahoy as much as I do! I will never understand how these cookies stay on the shelf? Like even the pre made Nestle “dough in a tube” is better?
The Fig Newton was invented in my hometown (Newton MA) but shhhhh don’t tell anyone I agree with you. I have to pretend they’re okay!
Re: Nutter Butters-they make an EXCELLENT pie crust for homemade ice cream pie. Just crush them up with butter (like you would for an Oreo pie crust?) Highly recommend.
If I had to eat a package cookie, I’m going with Pinwheels! That little dome of graham/marshmallow covered in chocolate. I don’t know? Maybe it’s childhood memories but these get my reluctant #1 vote for this category.
Marla says
Top 5
#5) frosted animal cookird
#4) Nutter Butter
#3) biscoff cookies-the sandwisj style with cream filling
#2) Golden oreos
#1) wedding cookies -the ones covered in powdered sugar! A moment of silence for the long lost Keebler’s dish wedding cookies in the pink box. They will remain the best cookies of all times.
Worst 5
5) Girl Scouts thin mints (have these changed ot is it me)?
4) ‘Nilla Wafers
3) Pinwheels (those chocolate marshmallow things)
2) vanilla , chocolate, strawberry wafters (sorry Shay)
1) Fig Newtons (can we all just agree that these should never have been called a cookie at all)?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do love a wedding cookie!!
Lindsey McGeehan says
I don’t know if I could truly rank my favorites but one that is for sure in my top 5 and I’m not sure enough people know about are biscoff cookies!!
My other favorites are Oreos, Pepperidge farm chocolate chunk cookies, fudge stripes, and the shortbread ones with raspberry jam in the middle!
Julie says
Yes!! Thin mints used to be my favorite. But they changed and are terrible now.
Sheila C says
Shredded paper! Lol! I’m with Andrew about the fudge stripes—we keep them in the freezer and something about the cold fudge makes them yummier! Fun post, Shay!
Kristin says
I can’t play this game, because I am a fresh baked, still warm from the oven cookie person, BUT Nilla Wafers and animal crackers are so disgusting to me. There is a fake processed food flavor in them, and many other store bought baked goods that I just can’t stomach. I love these top and bottom fives!
Meredith says
The nilla wafer description cracked me up! 😂
Kristen A LeVangie says
The best store bought cookie hands down is Entenmanns’s Chocolate Chip cookies!!!!!!
Bethany Gable says
Your vanilla wafer flavored cookies are a funny memory for me- in kindergarten I was eating one in the school cafeteria and swallowed my first tooth! That’s what I always think of with those cookies. 🙂
One of my my faves would have to be the Soft Batch Chocolate Chip cookies- they come in a red package. I guess they still make them? I agree….Chips Ahoy are too hard, we need soft cookies!
Emi says
Oh my word the soft batch were soooo good! I haven’t seen them in stores in ages. 🙁
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I’ve never understood the hype about golden Oreos but two of my kids won’t touch a regular Oreo but love the golden ones 🤷🏼♀️
💯 agree on the nutter butter though!! 😋
Kacey says
Top 5, bottom 5 always makes me LOL!! These posts are so funny. Personal confession: Hi, my name is Kacey and I love fig newtons (and saltines and ginger ale) basically your 30-something yr. old grandma 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel like you are a hospital patient who recently had her appendix removed. This is “recovery” food! Bahahaha!
Kacey says
😂😂😂 100%
Amy says
I am definitely coming back for the comments on this one!!! I can not stop laughing…oatmeal pies are not a cookie (in my opinion). I am right there with Andrew on the shredded paper it is a no go for me. The only good chocolate chip cookie is a homemade one!
Shay, can I just say the wafer cookies are not at the top for taste but oh the memories those things bring back are awesome!! Thank you so much for this top five bottom five. I didn’t know I needed this today!
Sally Hawkins says
Your #3 is my favorite! So good and so classy. Those shortbread fingers even look good on a fancy charcuterie board.
MelanieL says
Once again, I’m LOLing through this!! I love those wafers too and they remind me of my grandma! My husband would say the key to the hard CC cookies is to turn them into what I call cookie soup…put them in milk and eat it with a spoon. GAG!! So gross! 🙂
Beth Valenta says
LOL…ok I gagged a little at the oatmeal cream pies. My mom put those in my lunch every day and I cannot look at them. I am not a sweet eater but: I do enjoy a Tate’s cookie and the hardness of it and I used to love the Keebler rainbow chips ahoy. I love m and ms in cookies. Least favorite would be oatmeal pie and Oreos (just all that chocolate in my teeth is just YUK). By the way, do you get the chocolate chip make and bake cookies at Trader Joes? Perfect every time in the oven and so YUM.
Tammy says
Definitely making the Oreo Halloween Bars for my Treats no Tricks party!
Hanna Humphreys says
My top store-bought cookie would have to be the Lofthouse Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies!!! Totally agree that Famous Amos and Chips Ahoy are entirely overrated.
Brooke H says
Shay Shull. How in the world can vanilla wafers be your #1 cookie choice?!?!?!?! YUCK! Hahaha!!! I have hated those wafers since I was a child and my grandmother tried to get me to eat them!
Debbie says
I think she doesn’t like Vanilla wafers?
Faith Kapp says
Golden Oreos and Nutter Butters are the best! I do like vanilla wafers in banana pudding. Fig newtons – gross!!! The big oatmeal crème pies are good too lol – we are little Debbie fans!
Paula B says
I like all the cookies in both your top and bottom list except for any Oreo (they’re just okay) and those Voortman “things” which are basically cardboard. 🎃 Now Pepperidge Farm, in my opinion, makes the best store bought cookie. Milanos are simply the gold standard. Andrew’s choices – lemon cookies are a delight and those oatmeal Little Debbie sandwich cookies – meh. He is right about the frosted animal crackers, I do love a plain one though or a chocolate one.
K.K. says
Oh so many thoughts!!
– I agree that Chips Ahoy are boring, hard, yuck – unless doused in milk – and then, you’ve got a winner – I promise.
– Pecan Sandies, anyone? No? 🙂 I think those are pretty great!
– And then, Girl Scouts Thin Mints, out of the freezer.. yes, please. Refreshing!
Kim Converse says
Oh I do love Pecan Sandies!
Jaimee Shaffer says
These posts always make me LOL. I agree, oatmeal cream pie doesn’t count as a cookie! EL Fudge original and their fudge sticks (cold!) are my favorites, but like you, I don’t buy them so I can’t eat them!
hammondzoo says
In our family, fig newtons were the cookie to “keep you regular” on summer road trips. TMI? Sorry. 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I am legit lol at my desk!
Amy T says
I love Andrew’s description of coconut (which I dislike as well)
Erika Slaughter says
These posts are funny!
Alyssa Norman says
This is SUCH a fun post. Ok- I’m not real passionate about store bought cookies, I generally like my cookies to be homemade if I’m going to eat them BUT Oreos and Wafers are definitely on the top of my list! Both are very nostalgic for me because my dad loves them and ALWAYS had them ( still does) in the pantry. Also- I think fudge stripes definitely deserve in the top 5 😉
Jill says
Fudge Stripe cookies are great for s’mores!
Susan McKain says
Bottom Five:
5 – Fig Newtons – They should consider trying to sell them in the dried fruit section.
4- Any store-bought cookies containing marshmallow – they just don’t hold up.
3- Nilla Wafers – Agree!
2- Chip Ahoy – How are/were these EVER popular? (Chips Deluxe were much better growing up.)
1- Frosted animal crackers – Also from Sunday School memories.
Top Five:
5 – Keebler Pecan Sandies – Nostalgic, and extra delicious with vanilla ice cream between two.
4 – Voortman Wafers – Yes!
3 – Keebler Fudge Sticks & EL Fudge – Shay, you might like the Fudge Sticks because they have layered wafers inside.
2 – Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread – great quality
1 – Oreos and Golden Oreos – another quality cookie, IMO. I prefer the standard amount of filling.
Mix and Match Mama says
I do love a Pecan Sandies cookie!
Jess Wade says
I was dying when you said “baby teething crackers” when talking about Nilla Wafers! My mom used to put a little spread of strawberry cream cheese on the wafer and that took it up a notch!
And then I also 100%, hands down agree with Andrew having in his bottom five “anything with shredded paper inside (aka coconut)”. I can do toasted coconut, but shredded coconut is gross to me. I think it’s a texture thing and now that he described it as shredded paper, that’s perfect!
Charlene Cunningham says
I don’t buy a lot of cookies, or I’d be as big as a house, but the post made me stop and think- my top 5, in no order:
Girl Scout peanut butter fudge, Nutter Butters, Pepperidge Farm Chessmen, B i s c o f f, (spellchecker changes to discomfort) , pecan crescent cookies.
Yum!
Mix and Match Mama says
Why did I not think of Girl Scout cookies?! You’re absolutely right! They deserve attention too!
Emily Taylor says
Fun topic! My top 5 are: Peanut Butter Oreos, Double stuffed EL Fudge sandwich cookies, Nutter Butters, Keebler Coconut Dreams & I love Famous Amos! My bottom 5 would pretty much be anything else!
Lauren says
I’m not big on cookies, but I love Tate’s! And the golden and seasonal Oreos. Yum!
Kim Converse says
Unpopular opinion for sure and I am a very picky eater but…I just have to say…I love Fig Newtons 🙂 Soooo good with coffee!
Jaime Surrett says
OK – Fudge Stripes on their own, I agree, not so much. But, we use them to make s’mores instead of graham crackers and they are fantastic! The chocolate is built right in and gets just soft enough to melt with the marshmallow … delicious! My top store bought cookie, though, is probably Pumpkin Joe-Joes.
Alison says
I was reading your top 5 and nodding my head in agreement until I got to your #1. Wafers? Really?
I do, however, enjoy a nilla wafer, but I am laughing out loud at the accuracy of your description. 😂
Jaimie Leonard says
I can’t believe Biscoff cookies are not on either of your top 5! Best cookie to eat with coffee!!! Even better are the crème filling ones.
Vicki Leuck says
Hey! Wait just a minute!
I love a Fig Newton🥳😉🥰♥️
Laura says
Pepperidge Farm “Classic Collection” is the best of the best. Or their Mint Milanos. Their strawberry Veronas are good too. Basically anything from them 😆
Paige says
1. E.L. Fudge 😋
2. Oreos
3. Frosted Sugar cookies
3. Iced oatmeal 😝
2. Vanilla wafers (the only place they belong is in banana pudding)
3. Fig newtons
Mix and Match Mama says
I know those iced oatmeal cookies you are referencing. Once can break off a tooth on one of those cookies.
MIRANDA BODENHAMER says
Literally LOL’d at “baby teething crackers”
Robyn Gregory says
My daughter LOVES the chocolate/vanilla/strawberry wafer cookies. I would rather eat sandpaper. Lol.
My absolute fave is the Walkers Butter Shortbread cookies and Nutter Butters!
Jennifer Bourquin says
Golden Oreos are so good. I agree with you, they should make them in seasonal flavors.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wouldn’t a pumpkin spice Golden be extra amazing?!
Tamara R says
They make these! Pumpkin Spice Golden Oreos!
Mix and Match Mama says
WHAT?! Where?! tell me the deets! I need to try them!
Teresa says
Hold on…”limited edition OREO cookies feature two golden wafers filled with a rich pumpkin spice flavored creme”. You should be able to find them at Walmart, Target and most grocery stores.
Mix and Match Mama says
You have made my entire day 🙂 !
Christina says
Yes! Voortman wafers! I have no idea why these are so tasty but I love them. Your top 5 could easily be my Top 5. I now want all the cookies!
Pamela G says
Fig Newtons are the grossest thing to call itself a “cookie” but I LOVE the white chocolate covered oreos or any of the Walker Shortbread cookies. Now I need a cookie 🤣
Sande W says
The fact that you put wafers as your favorite makes me love you even more! Best. Cookies. Ever!
sandi says
If you are going to eat a cookie it needs to be a really good one… fresh from the oven, chocolate still warm, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. And it cannot under any circumstances include raisins.
Nilla Wafers remind me of vacation bible school. They are not good on their own, but in banana pudding they are amazing. Fudge Stripes and any flavor of Oreo would probably be the best packaged cookies. Oatmeal Cream Pies were a lunchbox staple growing up. If you are including that in the cookie category, you might as well throw in a Moonpie. They do not taste the same as they did when I was 8, but they are pretty darn good.
Deb says
So funny – I used to tell myself nutter butters were a healthy breakfast choice on the go. I also love the wafer cookies, but the Nabisco vanilla ones are my favorite. I can’t have either of these in the house because I will eat all of them very quickly.
Lisa Elliott says
I don’t eat sweets anymore and seriously can’t remember the last time I had a “bought” cookie . . .but I used to love those little elf cookies! YUUUUMMMY!
Robyn Beers says
Ha, ha, ha…anything with shredded paper. My dad called coconut straw ~ so there’s that.
Lisa says
Love Nutter Butters
Fig Newtons
Voortman wafer cookies
plain animal cookies
Jackson’s Vanilla Wafers, spread peanut butter on them (Nabisco Nilla Wafers are gross)
SS says
Top… Strawberry & Vanilla wafer(don’t like the chat ones), Loft house cookies, windmill cookies (I think they are local), Oreos, we bought a ton of cookies from Sam’s at Xmas that had some really good ones and they have short bread that are good then too.
Bottom- anything with nuts or coconut or banana flavored ugh. I like bananas but not the fake banana.
Ps vanilla wafer are used with leftover homemade cookies for like cookie sandwich and fudge stripes for s’mores.
Sheila says
I’m not really a cookie person either but I love anything pumpkin spice like you. We just finished the pumpkin spice Oreos and they were good! Try them!
Nicole says
The vanilla and strawberry wafers remind me of being at my grandma’s . So delicious!! The wafer math is 6 actually = 1
Elizabeth says
Such a fun post! I always love to read these and the comments are the best!
Britney says
Walker Shortbread Cookies are amazing!!! Definitely top 5 worthy 🙂
Deb says
Sorry Andrew Tates are good!!!!!
Alicia Gordon says
So shortbread cookies are my absolute fav. Everyone ways makes fun of me because whenever Girl Scout cookies come around the shortbread are my favorite. And I am disappointed because I also do absolutely love Tates chocolate chip cookies so Andrew needs to reevaluate 😂😂
Patt Coldiron says
I agree with your choices, Shay, but would have to add Pecan Sandies and Pepperidge Farm Chessmen.
Dana P says
Here I was just about to go to bed and stumbled upon these comments. I’m heartbroken. I LOVE nilla wafers! And fig newtons! And lemon cookies! I feel like I was just the last kid to get picked in kickball…🤭 I’ll add too that no one seems to like mint Oreos, another favorite of mine. 😋
And don’t even get me started on the goodness of a saltine or some ginger ale! 🤣
Nikkie F. says
Yes!!!!! To all of these 🙌🏻
Dana P says
Oh oh oh…another great one…those almond windmill cookies from Trader Joe’s! They were a classic before they carried them, too. So good!
Abbey says
I want to pretend I wasn’t shocked by your choices, but I was shocked. I think your top five would be my bottom five. The wafers? I just don’t even know if I know you anymore, and I’ve read your blog for a long time. Why did this surprise me so much? I agree with Andrew on cookies. I love these kind of posts; thanks for sharing!
Carissa says
Ooh great post!
Top 5:
5. soft batch
4. fudge stripes (for the nostalgia factor of wearing them as rings on my finger :))
3. vienna fingers
2. gingersnaps (great in the crust for a pumpkin pie)
1. royal dansk butter cookies (nostalgia factor too-in the blue tin!)
For the worst cookies it’s definitely any hard chocolate chip cookie!
Emily says
I’m not GF.. but the GF Oreos are so good. I don’t know what it is.
I tried Crumbl for the first time ever this weekend. I got the Oreo cookie- it was a little too much, but the chocolate chip cookie? To die for.
What about Girl Scout cookies? I am obsessed with Thin Mints, but they have to live in the freezer. 🙂 Actually I think all chocolate needs to be refrigerated/ frozen haha.
Misty says
We agree on a lot of things (Golden Oreos over original), but I do love me a Vanilla Wafer. I don’t like it in the pudding, just on its own. However, my very favorite store bought cookie is the iced animal cookies (pink bag). I used to have them in nursery at church, and I still think of that everytime i have one!!
Marisa Patel says
Switch Nilla Wafers with the E.L. Fudge and we are in sync!!!! #2 Botton Five for Andrew would be #1 Bottom Five 🙂
Wendy Chandler says
You know that they have a sugar free version of the wafer cookies right? I love the chocolate ones. Also I’m in Tampa and please say a prayer for us with the storm about to roll in. It’s a scary time for Florida.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wendy, I have been and will continue to pray. I am just so sorry this is happening to all of you. I am so so sorry.
Dana Jackson says
I love these fun posts!!
Top
1. Girl Scout Samoas
2. Girl Scout Tagalongs
3. Oreos but only holiday themed ones as they taste better! Plain Oreos not so much!
4. Mini Nilla Wafers
5. Trader Joe’s Speculous cookies
Tina Mahler says
Have you tried Nutter Butter wafer cookies? I’m not really a store-bought cookie girl, but these are a good cookie. I also have been known to enjoy a Lorna Dione shortbread cookie in a pinch. And I don’t know why but the cookie bisquit served on airplanes is yummy too!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have never heard of these?! I must try one!!
Cortney says
-GF Mint Oreos
-Trader Joe’s GF Ginger chunk
-Orange Chocolate Milanos (on these still exist??? Haven’t had them since I went GF over 10 years ago but they were my favorite)
Nilla wafers are so nostalgic for me, sad to see many dislike them, maybe those have changed too?
Kacy M says
Chips Ahoy Chewy is good. Chips Ahoy original is super dry and bleh.
Michelle Lykins says
Your bottom 5 lists most of my faves! But nutter butters are awesome.
Katie Stewart says
Your thoughts on Nilla Wafers!!! 😂😂😂
They DO scream Sunday School! All that’s missing is a mini styrofoam cup of red Kool-Aid! 😅
Honestly I can’t even contribute to this post because I don’t have a bottom 5! Never met a cookie I didn’t like!
Alison says
Ugh… I can’t stand a Fig Newton. I don’t know why anyone would choose that. I am a little ashamed to say I have never tried an Elfudge cookie, but it sounds good. Love when you do Top 5/Bottom 5 posts. So fun!
~B~ says
I’m someone who gets quite the reaction (picture gasps of horror, shocked faces) when I tell people that…I do not care for Oreos. Any version of them. Nope. Big no from me. I know, I know. However! In some crazy twist, I love, cannot get enough, will eat until I’ve clearly over done in – oreo cake balls. I’m drooling thinking about them now. Again, I know how crazy I sound/am. 🙂 Fun post, Shay, thanks!
Nikkie F. says
Nilla Wafers in the bottom five?! 😳 I could eat a whole box of those by myself 😬 I don’t know if I would consider them a cookie though….. but I do LOVE them! This list is actually kinda hard 🤔
Nikkie F. says
If I’m totally honest, I could skip all these cookies and eat boxes and BOXES of Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes!!!!! NOW that is where it’s at!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️🌲🍰 My time is coming though 🥰
Mix and Match Mama says
THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE!!!!!
Adrienne Sisco says
I love the wafer cookies too!!! And am partial to the strawberry!!
Roya says
I love me a good store bought cookie.
Top 5:
5. Double Stuf Oreos (But, I really just eat the cream and throw the cookie part away.)
4. Pinwheels
3. Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies
2. Famous Amos (I couldn’t believe they were in your bottom 5 – those things are delicious!)
1. Thin Mints (We goes through those embarrassingly fast in our house.)
Judith Herling says
Costco white chocolate macadamia nut cookies!!! The best ever!
Becky says
Shay, I love you, but STRAWBERRY WAFERS!!!???!!!!! Aka pink cardboard. I legit had to stop myself from spitting out my coffee when I read that phahahaha. The UK actually has some pretty good store bought chocolate chip cookies (often half dipped in chocolate), but hands down my favourite is a florentine! Chewy, fruity, nutty, coated in chocolate…what could be better!

True story- I use Chips Ahoy when I teach my fossils science lesson to my 2nd graders. We use a tooth pick to “dig” the chips out of the cookie, pretending we’re archaeologists! I think that perfectly sums up Chips Ahoy cookies, ha! #likearock #orfossil

Famous Amos is literally the only store bought cookie I like! And the one with the little French man, Lu Petit Ecolier.

You are 💯 accurate on chips ahoy and famous Amos. I would probably reverse order your top 5 and I must also add that I love a nilla wafer. 😂

How funny is the “shredded paper” (coconut)! I feel the same. The texture is horrible. HaHa!
I do love EL Fudge and Fudge Stripe cookies though!
