Today, I have a little post all about our UPDATED BACK STAIRCASE 🙂 .
As many of you know, we built our home and moved in May 2014. One of my favorite little touches was…
…the leopard print carpet on the back staircase.
It was fun and made us happy…but after 12 years, it needed to be updated.
The leopard wore really, really well, but the padding underneath needed to be replaced.
Plus, after 12 years, I was ready for something lighter.
I knew I still needed a pattern (to “hide” things and a pretty sturdy fabric as this is the staircase the ten Shulls go up and down the most during the day), so I selected a lighter plaid and LOVE IT…
…it makes me so happy…
Who knew you were going to stop by today just to see a bunch of pics of my stairs? Ha!
As I walk up and down them 4 million times each day, I smile.
So, there you go, a little home update in McKinney for your Monday.

I was literally just wondering recently if you still had that carpet! Hahaha! Love the update too. Is this the only spot you have carpet in your home? Do you update all of it if you have more, or just keep that one section different? So fun! Love the lighter one too. 🙂

Ashby’s third floor closet has carpet and so does Smith’s bedroom. Those are the only other carpeted areas in our house.

Love the new print! I don’t remember when I started reading your blog, maybe 2013? I was in college, and I remember when the leopard carpet went in! It’s been fun to grow up with you and your family and incorporate some of your traditions and recipes into my growing family’s life.

Okay this is a strange comment but fits into the meal planning back to school edition and thought it might even be a great blog post! As a mom of 4 littles, oldest is heading in Kinder this year and one in pre school, we are struggling with separation anxiety and leaving mom for a little bit during the week! My 2 olders cry and hate leaving me and it breaks my heart and makes it SO hard for me and for school.did you experience this? Any tips?

Oh goodness, being a mama is hard. Kensington was always the one (when they were younger) that struggled with it the most. Whether it was the beginning of school or even changing Sunday school teachers each fall, she had the most separation anxiety. I would say that, what worked for us, was making it quick and letting the amazing teachers “do their thing”. Long, drawn out goodbyes always made things harder. Quick drop offs + teachers who know exactly what to do was always the best combo. Any time I would pick her up and ask them how she did, they always said she did great and was good to go about 30 seconds after mama left.
