Happy Monday, friends!
It’s my annual HOLIDAY HOME TOUR!
Honestly? I feel kind of silly sharing this again because let’s be real…things don’t change that much from year to year…BUT my grandmother would be highly disappointed if I didn’t make myself a good hostess and open the doors to welcome you all in with photos of our holiday decorations. It’s her favorite post of the year 🙂 .
If you were here in person, I would offer you a coffee or perhaps a Killarney Cocktail, my pine tree candles would be burning and The Carpenters Christmas would be playing throughout the house. Oh yes, and four kids, three dogs and one husband would be there to greet you too.
One last disclaimer, I never know when to take photos of my house with twinkle lights. Some rooms look better during the day, some look better at night. Basically, this is a hodgepodge of me trying to decide. Either way, I’m so happy you stopped by!
Come on in…
I know I share these every year, but they mean so much to me. My grandmother painted these before I was even born. They’re very special to me.
I saw these three little trees at Pottery Barn and wanted them to come home with me. I just love how they twinkle.
Smith’s room
Kensington’s room
Ashby’s room
Madeley’s room
Thank you for stopping by!
Now, some of the most common questions I get each year after this post are:
1. WHERE DO YOU STORE ALL OF THIS? We used to store them in plastic bins in my attic, but two years ago, after Christmas, we decided to take them to our storage unit (that we had to have to hold our furniture while the house was being gutted). We have decided that is MUCH easier for us! We load them on Andrew’s trailer and take them there and then haul them back the following year.
2. WHEN DO YOU DECORATE/TAKE DOWN? I typically take Halloween/fall down the first week of November and put up Christmas. We take everything down on the December 26th and get the house back together before we head out of town.
3. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO PUT IT OUT? One full day for both of us and then I typically do the upstairs in a few hours the day before or after.
4. WHERE DID YOU BUY____? I’ve had this stuff for years and years! Some of it, over 18 years! I would say that my go-to places for holiday decorations outside of specialty stores are Pottery Barn, Frontgate and Hobby Lobby. My friends Amanda and Amy make all of my holiday signs that you’ll see and then my friend Lori decorates all of the plates and platters with my kids’ hand prints on them.
I’m always so thankful that you come and visit my little holiday home tour!
Also, don’t forget that we’ve updated so many rooms in our house! If you’re looking for specific sources from specific rooms, these posts here will be the best bet for you to find that information:
Don’t forget, if you missed our other recently added/renovated rooms, they’re right here…
That’s it for this Monday!
Have a wonderful start to your December!!! I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you, Kay! Merry Christmas!!
Kara says
I love your place settings at the dinner table. Do you eat from these plates and use these napkins for dinner or are they more for looks? I have festive cloth napkins out on placemats but we actually use paper napkins (less laundry-ha)!
Mix and Match Mama says
We don’t use the napkins unless guests are over, but we do use the fun plates.
Lyssy says
I love it!! My favorite post every year. I just moved from a one bedroom to two bedroom NYC apartment so I’m excited to have more space to decorate 🙂

Oh congrats!!!!! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

Woke up with some Monday morning gloominess — this gave me a burst of cheer. Grateful to you — and to your grandma!
Hugs from snowy Minnesota! ❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
Hugs back to you! Enjoy that snow!
Tiffanie says
Love! and honestly I love that your decor does not change every year!
Jill says
I love the reality of having a tub of legos amidst the decor! That’s real life! What would you call your style, Shay? Traditional?
Mix and Match Mama says
Ha! Yup. I would say that over the years, I’ve called it a variety of things, but right now, English manor or maybe English lodge? I keep moving towards cozy and dark…and then Andrew keeps hanging his “friends” on the wall, so…you know…it’s evolving.
Erin says
Kensington’s room looks clean! 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
A Christmas miracle in and of itself. 😉
Melinda Bridge says
I look forward to this every year! Two questions: does the first tree that you show have any ornaments on it? And do you decorate your patio? Thanks for sharing🎄
Mix and Match Mama says
Nope. Just lights! I bought it last year for my office but it was just way too big for me to decorate by myself, so this year, I moved it downstairs and am just enjoying the lights. Ha! We do decorate the patio a little bit! We have lights out there and two little gold Christmas trees.
Natalie says
Love this post, but really can’t wait for your Nantucket home tour someday!!!
sandi says
I need a post on artwork for the home. Your choices are beautiful and compliment your furnishings and other décor. We have been in our home for 15 years and have two things on the walls… making choices like that are challenging. So I call myself a minimalist and have nothing on the walls :-).
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Sandi, you’re too sweet. Merry Christmas! xx
Bev says
I can tell you have been to England! I am from England and I can see your love of my country through much of your decor. Such a beautiful home and so homey. My only question is : Where is your nativity set and verses that speak of His birth displayed? Maybe I missed them and forgive me if I did!
Have a beautiful CHRISTmas! He LOVES us!
Mix and Match Mama says
We had a creche when we were first married that I displayed in our first apartments and home (it was a wedding gift), but it was damaged in our last move. I haven’t displayed one since then and certainly should find me a new one.
Laura says
It’s just beautiful! I’ve found as I get older I tend to do less decorating. So I’m living vicariously through you. You have so many sweet spots to enjoy a book or a good conversation. Enjoy your holidays. 🎅🏻
Ashley says
I have been following you for ten years, and this post is always one of my favorites. Your home decorated for the holidays is just gorgeous and so cozy. Merry Christmas!

Hi Shay! I love this post each year – your home is so cheery and festive! Do you recall where you purchased the garland around your front door? I am looking for some that is full and full of lights and yours looks great. Merry Merry!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am pretty sure it’s from this website: https://www.treesntrends.com/
Nicole says
Love seeing this every year. So warm & cozy! Where do you get the kids’ christmas trees? Love it all!
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re just from Hobby Lobby!
Shannon Leyerle says
I will very merrily view this every single year! So fun and festive. And your office always looks so perfect!
Leslie says
How do you get your TV in your office to have the festive picture? Ours (LG) only has landscape and abstract type photos and art. Is there a way to import or create an image? Your house looks great as always! Thanks for sharing!
Mix and Match Mama says
When I go to the artwork app, I just search “christmas” in the search box. You can also search by “popular” too.
Leslie says
Just tried again with no luck! We can only choose from the Samsung Gallery or purchase the monthly Art Membership! I don’t want another subscription; ugh! Thanks anyway!
Joanne says
Such festive little touches everywhere! I shared our holiday home tour today too and for once ours looks quite different. We had finished off our basement last winter and had to move decorations around a little (as well as purchase a few new things) and I am loving how it all feels new just because it’s in a new place.
Mandy says
Love your table settings, and the kids’ mini Christmas trees in there rooms! I’ll check out the other links to see if I can find the mini trees, those are the perfect size!
Danielle says
I love your home tours! So beautiful and cozy! Merry Christmas!
Karah Stracener says
Thank you for welcoming us in and sharing your beautiful home. It looks so cozy and cheery. I just love all your decorations and am amazed that you get it all up in one day. We start the weekend of Halloween and it takes us over a week. haha. We also put up 7 Christmas trees, but this year we only did 6. LOL
Judy Hightower says
Where did the large lighted ornaments on your front porch come from? They add such a beautiful touch!
Kathy says
I love these posts! I look forward to them every year. It isn’t officially Christmas until I see your house all decked out for the holidays. So beautiful!
Sara Brockman says
Your home is just beautiful with all the cozy decorations. I look forward to this post every year. I have a question about your multiple Christmas trees. It takes me forever to get one tree fluffed. Do you spend a lot of time fluffing your trees?
Mix and Match Mama says
A little bit. After storing them all year, they do get quite smushed.
Rachel Kazmier says
Simply cozy, warm, and welcoming! Nothing beats twinkle lights galore…especially if they’re on timers! Where will you be skiing this year? We head out to Montana after Christmas! Enjoy!
Mix and Match Mama says
We will! I mean…they’ll be skiing, I’ll be trying not to hurt myself.
Monica says
How do you get the cute pictures on your television in your office?
Your home is stunning – don’t ever tire of sharing them with us – and be SURE to decorate your Nantucket house next year for us!
Merry Christmas!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have a Frame TV in my office. There is an app on the TV that allows you to change out the photos. Isn’t it fun?!
Jaren says
That first room looks so cozy! I could sit in there all day!!
